My Dear Poet Nov 2021
“I wish you well”
said the wishing well
to the old man with the coin
“Don’t wish for me
I’m old you see,
just a wistful wish for my boy.
My life is done
his, just begun
a wish for life and health.”

And with what’s left of his money
he flung his last penny
giving all for a son’s
wisdom and wealth

If the early bird gets the worm
then a late worm will live
but if there be an early bird
then there must be a late bird
and if so, the late worm will also die
the moral of the story is…
…don’t be a worm
My Dear Poet Jan 9
Every great poem begins with a great line
but not this poem, this poem of mine
it has its flaws and it ends with rhyme
like every poem I write, every time
But every poet can be great, I heard it said
if you write a poem, not to be scared
to be judged, or write to be read
keep it real, raw and great in your head
What are your thoughts?
My Dear Poet Jan 2022
If only    this kiss
can pour into your mouth so my
|                                                        |
thoughts flow north to your mind
and down to where your heart
hides south
My Dear Poet Feb 2022
Will our love be strong
and stronger still
and never know till we love
and love till we do
will our hate destroy
and destroy the will
no doubt it may
and may indeed ****
so love me now
and hold me forever
and never leave me
You and me and ever.
My Dear Poet Jan 15
anything that reflected you
from glass to a mirror
I would shine and polish
till I saw you clearer

anything that sounded like you
from a poem to a song
I would sing and recite
and quote you all day long

anything that resembled you
a painting, a clipping, a frame
I would keep, collect, store
and label with your name

Yes, anything
absolutely anything
that came remotely close to being you
made up my life and all I ever knew

my whole being was all of you
and you were all I became to be
It’s no wonder now without you
I spend my time in search of me
My Dear Poet Mar 2021
“Words are everything”, said the poet
And he was willing to let them go
to continue to love her
My Dear Poet Sep 2021
You’re the most beautiful word in our vocabulary
you are the diction that defines the dictionary
you are the word not found in a thesaurus
a phrase cannot hold you nor a chorus
no letter is worthy to arrange you
no lip or tongue to sound you
you are the most beautiful
experience to my ear
a song of songs
my dear
My Dear Poet May 2022
I love paint on my fingers
the smell of oils on my skin
but you on my canvas
are my art
and everything
My Dear Poet Feb 2022
Sleep,
you deserve some rest
Tomorrow
You’ll be stronger
You’ll stand proud
You’ll even smile
And laughter…it will come

So sleep, be at peace
Have some rest
It’s been a long day
A tough day
But you were brilliant
You were beautiful
you can do this
And you will do this
My Dear Poet Jun 2021
“You don’t know how good you got it”,
she said.

“You don’t know how good I make it”,
I reply.

good in part, still falls apart

though making most
of what you got

you still wonder why
My Dear Poet Sep 2021
You gotta like love
Like a good cold warm dish
Losing a chance on one wish
A saltless main meal
A genuine touch you can’t feel
Like lukewarm coffee
Ants stuck in toffee
Warm soft watermelon in summer
Shrivelled cold fries the day after
A delivered bitten slice of pizza
Uber, two hours later
A flat glass of Coca Cola
A wet cold doona
A missing piece at the end of a puzzle
A resentful bitter cuddle
Matchsticks with wet strikes
Your best poem with no likes
Oil stains on a monopoly board game
A long conversation with a forgotten name
You gotta like it, to love it
Just like, we like loving
My Dear Poet May 2021
Words that break a poet
only hurt the world

Words that heal the world
only make the poet
My Dear Poet Apr 2023
You kissed me like a promise
You kept me like a case
You held me like a picture
You passed me like a place
You left me like a thought
You hung me like a bell
You judged me like a court
You wished me like a well
You released me like a sparrow
You sealed me like a will
You waited like tomorrow
You searched me like a hill
You forgot me like an orphan
You missed me like a kiss
You lay me like a coffin
You liked me like this
My Dear Poet Jun 2021
You asked me what my name was
You asked if we could dance
You asked if you could have my number
You asked me to call
You asked me to pick you up
You asked me to hold you
You asked me to wipe away your tears
You asked me to just speak nice things
You asked me to stop fixing things

I never asked for anything
And now I’m asking why
My Dear Poet Jul 2021
Returning nests to their trees
Raking the wind for the leaves
You’re too busy to miss me

Creating shadows behind a screen
Stitching seasons at their seams
You’re too busy to miss me

Gathering the stars and their gleam
Scattering fears and their screams
You’re too busy to miss me

Washing winter in it’s stream
Painting the world a brighter green
You’re too busy to miss me

Missing me would mean
taking away your dream
…so please, don’t miss me
Sometimes we walk a different path
My Dear Poet Sep 2021
Eyes may be the window to the soul
but your eyes are the door to my heart
My Dear Poet Jul 2023
Except for one thing

…he’s not me
My Dear Poet Jun 29
I feel so sad”, she sad.

Someone’s muzzled happiness and locked her in a basement”, I replied.
You just need to find her”.

What if I found her dead?”, she asked.

Then realise this one thing…
…it took you to be alive,
to distinguish that which is dead
”.
My Dear Poet Oct 6
You can’t shift or shake me
but you can wake me
with your eyes

You can’t mould or make me
but you can break me
with your eyes

You can’t tie or stake me
but you can take me
with your eyes.
