He gave me songs
I wrote him poems
We speak in a language we call our own

Gibberish, they say
They do not understand
How we know each other' minds
That we read each other's souls

Our language goes beyond
What the universe already knows
They will never get the voice
That's stuck inside our core
Our story will be told by the poems that I have wrote

No one hears the scream of the muffled mouth
No one hears the cry of the dying heart
No one hears, because they do not listen

A cry of pain, of anguish, of anger
Radiating from a silent scream
That tears her every fiber

"I'm fine" is all they heard
For they block out the truth
For a pretty little lie
"I am not fine"

Isang buntong hininga
Kapalit ng libo-libong alaala
Na dala ng mga kanta
Na dati'y inalay niya sayo, sinta
"Traded music for hearts"

Kadilima'y bumalot,
Mata'y di makakita,
Ang sarili'y natakot,
Ng bigla kang nawala.
"Teka Jeth, sekreto lang katangahan ko hahahaha"
Maggie Jun 2017
"Don't worry, I'm here"

Words that came from your mouth
Words that saved me from drought

Words that sent too much rain
Words that brought unbelievable pain

Why did you have to lie, my dear?
And that pretty little mouth of yours weave the most painful lies

People say
You’re enough
But don’t stay
To prove it
I’m tired of hearing that I’m enough from people who have no intention of staying

Sadness drips
While the mind wanders
To what used to be
Back when we made wonders

Tears glisten
While the ears listen
To what once was music
That played to our rhythm

Hands shake
While the body yearns
You came too close
Only to have you turn

Time passes
While the heart heals
The memories are fading
Slowly through the years
"I'm almost completely over you"

Around and around
The ferriswheel goes
As our two hearts
Comes to a close
As we stare at the city
From the skies above
And I can’t help but admit,
I am inlove

As she walked through twilight
She felt shivers down her spine
It was cold, and she was bare
With lonely thoughts in her mind

Then suddenly came a whisper
A strange but comforting sound
His voice, filled with warmth
That melted the ice all around
You melted the ice that was building up. I wish you’ll last

Yes darling,
You’re right.
You can’t be fixed
Because you
Were never broken
In the first place
You’re not parts of a whole, you’re a whole, so how can you be broken?
Maggie Aug 2017
I died a little bit inside
And for that, I have to say goodnight

Goodnight to the memories
And all those sappy playlists
that made my heart ponder
On how we made wonders

Goodnight to the heartaches
And all the sweet mistakes
To your deep black eyes
And your beautiful smile

Goodnight to the pain
That I felt each day
You strayed away from me
Towards the dark blue sea

Goodnight to the happiness
The pain, the sadness
The whirl of emotions
Too many to mention

Goodnight to you, my love
You're a gift from up above
A gift that wasn't meant for me
A love that wasn't meant to be
"Goodnight"

I have a lot to say
But honestly,
I’m okay
Well, barely

I’ll get through this
I know I will
I’ve felt this before;
This cold night chill

There’s a lot in my mind
Everything’s haywire
I’m trying to find,
Find something,
But I’m tired

Even this poem’s going haywire
It’s hazy, and messy
Just like me
“Yeah, I’m okay”
Maggie Nov 2018
Every time I’m alone
I always think
About a million random thoughts
Changing as I blink

“Is there even an answer?”
My mind’s going haywire
Maggie Jul 2019
Everything starts
As a blank canvas
Just waiting
To be given meaning
I give meaning to myself
Maggie Jun 2017
'I don't like you'
I keep repeating to myself

I don't like the way you smile
or the crinkles by your eyes

I don't like your Nike shoes
or the way you sing the blues

I don't like your jet black hair
or the way you just don't care

I don't like the way you walk
And how you never seem to talk

I don't like how my heart beat
Every time you're being sweet

I don't like how my eyes gaze
At your always glowing face

I don't like how my heart aches
Every time that you're away

I don't like the way I lie
Every time that you walk by

I don't like you, I say
Maybe if I keep on repeating these words
They might turn true one day
I don't like you, please believe me.

A promise of love
To the moon, and back
A circumnavigation
A travel, an exploration

A rocket ship
A short trip
Guess your moon was just on the corner
You said to the moon and back, so congratulations on seeing the moon.
Maggie Nov 2018
One moment, I’m here
Smiling and laughing
But then I suddenly disappear
Running and screaming

“Get away from me”
I call out to the darkness
Slowly engulfing me
In its terrible blackness

“Help me, please”
But no one listened
“I’m tired”
My voice quivered

“Is it over?”
No one sees the truth

This time, last year
Everything was different
We were happy
So what changed?
"Why did you change?"
Maggie Jan 2019
You shimmer like a star
In the darkest night
So beautiful yet so far
A bright yellow light

I reach out to touch you
And baby you burn
A fire of majestic blue
Oh how my heart yearns

You lit up my skies
So lovely, so bright
A wonderful prize
A magnificent sight
For you, my love, my northern star

Ang nais ko lang naman ay iyong maging tahanan
Sa tuwing ika’y nasasaktan, nanlalamig, at nahihirapan
Kaya’t bakit ako’y ginawang panandaliang silungan?
Iniwan at kinalimutan nang natapos ang ulan
Kasabay ng paglabo ng ulan ay ang kasabay na paglaho mo rin

A drizzle on the rooftop
A splatter on the floor
A cold feeling of nostalgia
Makes its way once more

As the rain begins to fall
And the silence takes a toll
You begin to wonder
If you’re truly sure

Sure of the path you chose
Sure of the doors you closed
Sure of the things you did
Sure of the things you said

Like the rain to the earth
You’re scattered all around
To nowhere, and everywhere
Just waiting to be found
This pandemic allows my thoughts to trail around and around, and as today is the first rain since it began, it gave me a little burst of inspiration

Play the music
Stop. Repeat.
I'm getting addicted to the beat

A song of love
Of sorrow. Of happiness.
I can't believe I'm in this mess

Play the music
Stop. Repeat.
Tears fall down
For such beautiful sound

A beat that I have always known
A heart that I can't call my own
"He gave me songs, I wrote him poems"
Maggie Jul 2020
Don’t worry, it’s okay
To hit the pause button
Whenever it’s too much

You can’t hit replay
You can’t fast forward
But you can take a break

Then you hit play again
When you’re ready
When you’re better

So you can fix what
You wished to replay
So you can live on
And move forward
It’s okay to rest sometimes when it all gets a little too much

Every day she walked
Trailing people she loves
Wishing they’d look back
Give her a glance
Or stop for a little while
Though they never did
So she begun to collect scraps
Like pieces they left over
Or trash they throw at her
Useless little things
That she kept as mementos
For when she goes to sleep
Because she believes
Its a little better
To have a piece of them
Than nothing at all
Tira-tira nalang ba ang para sa kanya?
Maggie Apr 2020
There are three simple words
That I’ve been meaning to say
Though they seem to get stuck
Whenever you come my way

I stare at you and I smile
Then you look back and I hide
It’s quite quizzical you see
You have this effect on me

It’s been there long before
Can’t seem to shake it off
It is you I adore
Too bad I can’t say more

So in this poem I’ll be strong
‘Gon say the words like a song
I love you my baby
You and all your crazy
Late night poetry for my sleeping baby

Mahal, tahan na
Di mo kasalanan
Kung hindi ikaw
Ang pinili niya

Mahal, tahan na
Di ka nagkulang
Di niya lang batid
Ang iyong nararamdaman

Mahal, tahan na
Di na magbabago
Ang sakit at pighati
Na ramdam ng ‘yong puso
Mahal, tahan na

My heart’s gone weary
It’s shrivelling, it’s hiding
And it hurts like hell
The heart feels what your mind denies; a haiku
Maggie Jul 2020
Everyone loves the sun
Who brightens everyone’s day
They talk about her light, her warmth,
her radiance on display
She’s perfect, they always say

But what happens when
The clouds begin to form
When the sun’s brightness dims
and out comes the storm?
She’s still there, isn’t she?

But why isn’t she loved
the same way anymore?
They only love her when she shines
Maggie Nov 2019
The remnants of the past
Are like pieces of broken glass
You try to avoid
But step on, once in awhile
Then the memories come

They come,
when you‘re singing a happy song in the shower
And it suddenly changes to a sad tune

They come,
when you’re walking alone at night
And you just suddenly slow in pace

They come,
when you’re out with friends,
And you suddenly turn quiet

They come,
when you least expect it, when you’re smiling with no care in the world

You don’t choose when they come
but they do
and you let them flow
until there’s little to none of them
that remains inside of you
They come, every once in awhile, but I’m getting there. I’m getting better

Expression is a challenge
For I lack a sweet tongue
I stare at you in silence
Can you hear my heart’s song?
You get me tongue-tied but it comes out as me uncaring ✨
Maggie Aug 2020
We both live
Two worlds apart

I live, not worrying about what tomorrow brings for right now, everything’s okay
He lives, lonely every day,
but holding on for a better someday

I live for what is here, close to me, something I can reach, someone I can touch
He lives for what will be, far away, something he will reach, someone he will touch

I live for the daily laughters, the ongoing memories, afraid of what is to come
He lives for that better day, somewhere far away, forgetting to live in what is now

We both live two worlds apart
That’s why we forget to meet
In the in-between
Of what is now, and what is to come
A rough draft of what is on my mind
Maggie Aug 2020
The greatest pain is felt
When the physical tears are gone
And they think that you are fine
‘Cause they don’t see the broken soul
That’s weeping deeply inside
I’ll be aight
Maggie Sep 2018
I wake up with a heavy heart
Ragged breathing and hidden scars

Inhale, exhale, repeat
I chant to the silent beat

I looked around from left to right
And realized I want to fight

Fight for you, and fight for me
And all the things that we could be
Until the end
Maggie Jul 2018
Gone are the carefree days of youth
Running and laughing in the sun
Towards nowhere and everywhere
Both at the same time

Gone are the memories
Collected and kept
Gone are the people
That for once we have met

Gone are the laughters
That once were so loud
Gone are the feelings
That once were so proud

Dear child,
You’re all grown up
It’s time to face the future
There’s no turning back
We’re getting older

— The End —
