Another room,
another company,
they all feel the same after a while.
I prefer solitude,
to keep to myself and
listen to these people
rather than speak.
But in truth, I feel even more alone
when I am with them rather
than my solitude.
These walls were built to
shield me from these people
and I intend to keep
the door closed.
Mitch Prax Jul 2018
All at once,
it hits me that it’s been you
this whole time.
Like wine in a heart-shaped glass,
this love fills my heart
filling all the holes
others left behind.
Mitch Prax Nov 2020
Who left you
so broken that your
eyes now cut deeper than
the sharpest knife?
We are left with such hatred
weighed upon our hearts
and all we can do
is laugh.
Mitch Prax May 2020
We can’t try
to make sense of
the **** the universe or
what other people
throw our way.
Just know that whatever
they throw your way,
it says more about them
than it does
about you.
Mitch Prax Jul 19
The singularity of your kiss
erupted in a thousand galaxies-
a universe where you
are everything.
Mitch Prax Dec 2020
You pointed
to the stars and
I gave you the sky.
You pointed
to the moon and
I took you to the moon.
Mitch Prax Jan 25
January
smelt of sorrow-
it usually does.
For what, I do not know,
but every year I hope to
figure it out and make sure
to avoid it in twelve months.
Oh well,
better luck next year.
Mitch Prax Apr 2019
She slithers in
underneath my door
in the dead of night.
I let my guard down
and she slides up my bed,
underneath the covers
and curls around my spine.
She whispers sweet terrors
and I find myself awake
and fighting this anxiety
that has me in her grip.
Mitch Prax Apr 2022
Being social can be
quite overrated, can't it?
Friday nights should be for
going for strolls somewhere new,
driving around slowly whilst
listening to your favorite tunes,
reading books, writing poetry,
sighing at memories missed
and wondering if it will
ever be that good again.
Mitch Prax Aug 2020
I was never a singer,
but when my heart was full
I could not help but
write you a song that
you will never
get to hear.
Mitch Prax Feb 2022
This heartache screams your name,
a thrashing storm that leaves
this heart in ruin.
Your thunder has
sliced open this heart
but these memories are made of sunshine.
Mitch Prax Apr 2022
Poets are a strange bunch-
we enjoy the fall until we've hit the ground.
Sometimes we push ourselves if
for nothing but the art.
Oh, how we find that spark
in the darkness of suffering.
Indeed, what a mad bunch we are,
to find sanity in our madness
and I wouldn't have it
any other way.
Mitch Prax Mar 2020
If our love
had a sound,
it would be the sweetest song.
Tell me you hear the music-
the beat of our hearts
and our harmonies
intertwined.
Mitch Prax Sep 2019
Just like the switch
to this ******* room,
I wish there was a switch
to turn off this heart,
this soul and
this mind.
Mitch Prax Sep 2019
Beckon to me
and call me over-
I want to be seduced
into forgetting just
how lost I am
without you.
Mitch Prax Apr 2021
The torture doctor
put me under
with her smile
and charm.
She cut my heart
until the love poured out
and just like that,
she had concluded
her operation.
Mitch Prax Apr 2019
I am a tourist
travelling in between
the sweetest dreams
and the darkest
nightmares.
Mitch Prax Jan 2020
Wherever you trail
leaves me chasing for more-
every glimmer in your eyes
leaving me entranced.
Maybe it's a spell of the unicorn,
or maybe this is one big dream.
All I know is that I need
more of you in my life.
Mitch Prax May 2020
Sometimes,
we all feel a little lost-
lost in a void-
a prisoner of silence.
So come lay with me
here in the darkness,
in silence.
Perhaps we can bring
a little light to
each other's world.
Mitch Prax Apr 2022
This darkness
has not left me alone.
It consumes me
day after day-
night after night-
a void I cannot escape.
It's like I'm dreaming
but can't wake up.
Mitch Prax Oct 2020
The nights
are growing darker
and the waves
are getting rougher
Surrounded by
darkness and disarray,
I make my haven
in this boat built for two.
This love is an ocean
beneath a sky of uncertainty-
it consumes us night after night.
But, together,
we take this voyage-
just me and you.
Mitch Prax Aug 2023
I hope you win all the
wars you keep to yourself-
the ones you tell
no one about.
Mitch Prax Feb 2023
Why is it so hard
to let go of those who
hurt us the most?
Is it because they were once
the source of happiness
and everything nice?
Are we still clinging onto the hopes
that it will go back to
the way it was?
Mitch Prax Jan 2017
I am sick
and tired
of writing
about heartache
time and
time again.
All I want
is to catch a break;
To put down
my weary pen
and face the day
smiling in my wake
Mitch Prax Jan 25
Just know that
you are not the only one
going through this
all-too-human and
inevitable pain.
The grief, the loss,
the unbearable weight of it all.
Just know that you do not have
to carry it all on
your own.
Mitch Prax Jan 2020
I heard your voice
in the wind and you let me know
that you were saying goodbye.
I run for shelter,
fear of what comes next.
These nights have never felt so cold,
but all I can do is wait out
the impending storm.
Mitch Prax Mar 2020
I don’t like
that I miss you this much.
No matter how many lies
I tell myself,
I still can't shake
these lingering
feelings.
Mitch Prax May 2022
If you pray
in the same tone
you speak to me,
I can understand why
the angels don't stop
listening to you.
Mitch Prax Nov 2021
Most people will never know
the burdens you carry,
all the demons,
all the sleepless nights,
and all the love and loss along the way.
They will never know
the hidden strength it took you
to get out of bed each morning,
to put on a happy face,
and to do it all again.
Mitch Prax Jun 2020
To this day,
I'm still replaying
the memories of you and I.
You may still be able to
steal my thoughts away,
each one turning into
another piece of
poetry.
Mitch Prax Jul 2022
My own mind must be
the biggest thief that I have
ever known
Mitch Prax Jan 2022
Though this heart
still remembers our love,
your heart
has forgotten my name.
Mitch Prax Mar 2024
My heart is a
sanctuary of silence,
a place where few have ever glimpsed.
The demons may try to penetrate its walls
but this heart has always proved stronger
than what I gave it credit for.
Mitch Prax Mar 2022
This photograph,
this knowledge of you,
will stay with me forever.
A snapshot in time
of who you once were
and who I once loved
forever cherished in this heart.
And though you may change,
sometimes into someone
I no longer recognize,
this memory will remain
as you were when I loved you
in this photograph.
Mitch Prax Sep 2020
i never meant
for you to hate me,
I wanted the opposite,
in fact.
I suppose it is better this way,
for me,
at least.
Mitch Prax May 2022
You sprout from
the seeds of my thoughts
into a sunflower I cannot forget,
each petal, a memory I
will nurture with every
drop of nostalgia and every
ray of love.
Mitch Prax Oct 2023
When someone
is going through a storm,
your presence alone can be as
powerful as a sail to
guide them home.
Mitch Prax Jul 2021
All this time has passed
and I still think of you.
All this time has passed
and I hope you do too.
Mitch Prax Nov 2013
Where did all the time go?
The time that flows through the wind
It’s a cold breeze out tonight
There’s no one to hear my call
The night is silent
The voices echo
They echo through my head
They echo through you all
It feels like I’ve been put on mute
I try my best to listen and understand
It’s like deciphering an ancient language
My words are lost, our time is up
Where did all the time go?
I don’t know what’s happening
Suddenly I can’t talk anymore
It’s taken too long to realise
That you’re all gone…
Mitch Prax Oct 2021
If time is
a currency,
then spending it with you
was the best investment
I ever made.
Mitch Prax Sep 2023
How time flies
when my lips meet yours.
I close my eyes and
time does not
matter anymore.
Mitch Prax Sep 2019
Time seems to only fly
when you
don't want it to,
right?
Sometimes our days drag on
and on like passing clouds-
other days, like shooting stars-
blink and you'll miss it.
Mitch Prax Mar 2020
I know
it may seem
like things aren't
ever going to be alright
but in the end,
time will prove
you wrong-
it always
does.
Mitch Prax Jun 2022
Time has a way
of turning people to memory.
The process can manifest
as a wound slowly healing or
a humble nostalgia that you cannot
help but smile when looking back.
In the end, will they leave you smiling
or with another scar to carry?
Mitch Prax May 7
If only I was
physically tired
rather than
mentally tired
at the end of
each day.
Mitch Prax Sep 2023
Are you tired from
how much you have done
or are you tired from
the weight of
the world?
Mitch Prax Dec 2018
Today, I’m tired.
Work was dreadful.
Now I am home, it's almost comforting.
Yet, my body is in pain.
Other days, I feel awake.
Alert.
Even beautiful.
But today, I’m tired.
Mitch Prax Mar 2022
I will not ask you to stay-
you don't owe me anything.
I know you will leave
and there is nothing I can say
to change that.
Our time is coming to an end
and though you will say goodbye,
that doesn't mean my
heart will reciprocate.
Mitch Prax Jan 2014
Oh how nice it would be
To drift in and out of existence
I know that I’d truly be free
To do this at will, such brilliance
I would say goodbye to these hollow days
And goodbye to every soul around me
I would close my eyes as I drift into a haze
To have a choice, I know I’d feel truly free
