"begrudge" poems
I wish to disambiguate
to explicate; expanciate:
I do not begrudge polyamory,
and whatever Love entails
to any particular person,
for I once was polyamorous;
I understand some of the ways
in which polyamory can work.
Usually when single,
or otherwise in an open relationship.
I also do not begrudge sluttiness;
everyone needs some
and some can't resist.
Besides, it is noble
to work such charity.
Who am I,
who once sought such charity,
to demonize it?
I,
who have lusts
and desires?
I do,
however,
take grievous offense
to One in a relationship
who tells their partner
they're soulmates
and who,
instead of agreeing to end
the monogamous relationship,
goes and sleeps around
and cheats on their "soulmate",
moreover if over and over.
It's hard to cope with such deep hurt,
and I wish to convey my apologies
for my rash hybridized expressions
of Anger, Frustration and Hubris.
Perhaps it perturbs me so
simply because it reminds me
of who I once could be and was.
Perhaps it irks me so
because I'm envious.
Again;
Polyamory is not a Sin;
but before you just go **** someone
at least be single or in an open relationship;
it isn't only you
who is affected
by your choices,
and I know
that's hard to see
when you are so young.
Don't hold back
who you really are,
but please;
don't cheat others
in the process.
Not only is Karma a *****
but so can Retribution be;
you never know
what One
scorned
is
capable of;
the next time
you cheat someone
they may not fall back
on mere words;
A few more years
in this World
may teach you
that such Anarchy
doth go both ways,
my dear;
Vigilante Justice knows few bounds:
Don't take too many chances
when it comes to who you **** nor
when it comes to who you **** over.

Listen.
I know you've lived longer
Than my short quarter century life.
I know you've seen more,
Done more, loved more,
Touched more, tasted more,
Experienced more things than i.
I know you're only trying to help.
I appreciate the giving of advice.
I know you mean well
When you say it's time to give them up,
It's time to move on,
To be my own person,
To learn to live for only myself.
But you haven't lived through
The total decimation of your family.
You haven't watched as the lives
Of your loved ones fall into utter ruin
One by one.
You weren't relegated to helpless paralysis
By the fear that you'd lose them all
And by the depression that came with knowing
You couldn't even help yourself.
You don't know what it feels like
To have the dagger of abandonment,
The shattered shards of broken hearts,
The pinpoint needles of disillusionment,
The three-pronged fork of misunderstanding,
****** into your soul over and over
By every lemon life throws your way.
You don't know what it is to stand
On the brink of death
Because if you don't have them,
You have nothing.
You still have your family.
All intact and whole.
So don't begrudge me
My clutching, grasping, clinging attempts
At keeping what remnants of a family I have
Together.
I will not let them go
Until they have to be pried
From my dead hands.
And even then, I will still be loyal.
They are all i have.

Hunting has a noble heritage, for sure
Bringing us together, it forged a species
Keen-eyed, communicative, feared by the fierce
So who am I to begrudge you your sport?
I, too, love wide open skies, tramping over bog and fen,
I even quite like dogs!
I imagine nature might reveal herself to you
In signs jealously guarded from the armchair carnivore.
I can almost reconcile your harsh percussion
With the croak of the raven, the sloshing tide
And the chewing and mooing of cattle.
But the pheasant! For the love of God, the pheasant?
It can hardly be a battle of wits!
I've seen him as he sits, a big, red bullseye
On fences and *****
Startled by every day he survives.
How stirring can it be,
Picking off the ones the cars and lorries never got?
When you carry him home,
Better off dead,
Hang him in your garage for a week
Feeling like Henry VIII,
Cut him down, slit him open and find the crop
Stuffed not with heather shoots and beetles
But with half a pound of store-bought grain
(Generously laced with antibiotics) -
I hope the realisation creeps up
That you may as well have asserted yourself
In the hen coop,
Blasting away at befuddled poultry
And saving yourself a walk.

We embark on a new journey,
Let our travels never end,
Keep us heading in the same direction,
Though the track may sometimes bend,
Let happiness be our destination,
Let our trademark be a smile,
Let us enjoy every footstep,
Not begrudge a single mile,
Let us revel in new discoveries,
Greet each fresh dawn with pleasure,
Let us find our inner-wealth and know ...
The true meaning of treasure.

I have secret skeletons
That haven't seen the Sun
From things supposedly fun
Now all they do is make me run
Skeletons exit my closet
And enter my jury box
All of whom I've met
Then put behind locks
Now they throw rocks
Or find ways to mock
They are ruthless
Until I'm toothless
I face a skeleton jury
I face the skeletons' fury
They seek vengeance
Or perhaps repentance
I play lawyer in my mind
This job has become full time
And I must laboriously linger
Through skeleton stingers
Until my mind is rattled
By skeleton saddles
They come from my past
To shatter my glass
The skeletons are attacking
My bones are cracking
Under their weight
They are my freight
They judge me
And begrudge me
I made many moronic mistakes
I left laying at the bottom of lakes
Now they are at the surface
Of my fruitless furnace
Skeletons remain
Like a stain
I look across the plain
To see skeletal rain
Precipitated by my dumb decisions
Droplets make numerous incisions
Each one callously cutting me to the bone
Until the skeleton jury is my humble home

sigh...
(forgive my intrusion)
not necessarily-
for too many, we have to invent, create and
forever to be on the lookout for to
find what we need,
forgive and then, not begrudge the time it may take,
finally
then to make it ours,
for
that's when the work begins,
sometimes it takes a forever
to know how to define, create
find, a forevermore

“and he will rule over you.”
I am not ready to release my religion
the consistency of it has grown with me
i am afraid
if i unleash it from my soul
the preached darkness will consume it
i am afraid
that the possibility of its factuality and actuality
will hover in the atmosphere at noon
i am afraid
that by dismissing God too soon
he will dismiss me
Ironically, with my gaining of knowledge,
i have come to begrudge the man in the sky
who has cursed my *** to serve man
to be taken out of man, to exist only within man
he has given a text for those to quote
when arguing the entrapment of women
how am i to recognize the being
when he has ****** me
to be at the elbow of an entire gender
has blamed my kind for the original sin of sins
The Bible has shaped the complications of communities
it has manipulated the societies that barely function
it has forced people to fight for the basic rights all should hold
how am i to forgive such sins committed against my kind?
to accept the influences of a book that is thousands of years old
that still governs my everyday life?

I can't pretend I know what happened,
I think it's what others call fate.
But everyone around me changed when you left,
And any liking they had for you turned into hate.
You became the outcast,
No longer part of our clann.
You were no longer welcome in our homestead,
When we met you on the street, you were just another man.
I'm sorry it turned out like it has,
I wanted to have you there till the end.
Because, although there was a major age gap,
I still seen you as our friend.
People begrudge change because it reshapes our lives,
But maybe they're just jealous they settled too quick.
Just know that I wish you all of life's successes,
And remember they are only words, they are not sticks.

Genau, enow, enough
after the confusion,
we all could make a sound, okeh,
yeah
and we still
knew a shaken head or hand or fist
had meaning beyond words and noise
my words, their noise, barbarians all, but my
loved ones, still,
my nana Even , none could say a meaningful word
Ah, papa Eber, eber he be waving sayin'
Shhhhlome. wow. a word, I was
re connected re tied re ligamented re tendoned
re nerved re *****
re bled
re breathed
inspire me, expire me, think me immaterial, no mattah
nomattatall we stick together, gone bealright
begrudge me not a bit o'livit ity, a st-utter here'n'there
words, in wars, we always win. We are war's
raison d'etre, as they say, its
rational grounds for existence, its
excuse for being.
words are the instigators, provocateurs
no wordless insult results in war,
words are needed,
otherwise
fugitabowdit, how long? Seven times? 490 times?
no,
once, each time, no more.
enoughs the evil enoughs enow.
the weapons of our warfare, how can I say,
watch
we see salient leapers trampling the vintage, seeping
from the heel wound in the beguiler's head.
That's results.
Angels sing and dance, they never tremble in the night,
the hope we never lost,
we just forgot, they remember as if it were the same,
yes, today, forever
they whisper,
go on,
there's more to living than meets the eye.
enough has always had a plural, ask Sam Johnson.

i'm condemned by their eyes
i'm stuck in their hell and they begrudge me

Jesus on the Cross is a gory picture
Bleeding, Crying, Despairing
Not exactly a God-like image one would imagine
This week is holy the Christians claim
leading to the death and eventual rise of their great Savior
Is redemption then the answer to despair?
The Bible says the gruesome death was predestined
Yet it seems Jesus did for a moment doubt and plead in Gethsemane
But on the Cross while bleeding and suffocating
He prayed for the neighbors' sins to be forgiven
Such is love, the Bible claims
I do not believe it to be so, 'coz i still sin coz i still hate.
If i believed this Love, then i would not hurt my brother
If i believed in Redemption, then i would not begrudge my sister
If i believed in the hefty price He paid, I would never let hate linger
I would live a life of love, joy and peace and belief in the holy Spirit, Son, and Father.
But i do hurt, i do begrudge, i do hate and i do not believe!

I don't have a problem with
hipsters, goths, jocks,
skaters, rockers, preps,
farmers, plumbers, executives,
Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Caucasians,
gays, furries, bronies,
foodies, junkies, abstainers,
republicans, democrats,
atheists, monotheists, polytheists,
etc.
People are people.
So, why begrudge them that?
I do, however, have a problem with mean, hateful people
who's greatest joy comes in a form of shadenfreude.
Be who you are,
but don't impose your self-image onto others;
impose others onto your Self with a healthy dose of salt.
You may learn a thing or two.
Live and let live.

I resent the water that gets to lick you all over every morning.
I envy the sun that gets to kiss your skin so softly.
I am jealous of the brush that gets to run through your hair.
I hate the pen that gets to feel your gentle touch.
And I begrudge the sheets that gets to wrap all around you as you sleep.

Each one of us is different,
Every one of us unique,
Not one of us should pass judgment,
Ill of our fellow man should speak.
For each one of us has value
that not one of us should begrudge;
To judge others says more of you
than any of those you might judge.
None of us are superior
To think so is pure arrogance,
Thinking others inferior
Highlights only your ignorance.

We've been conditioned
to project our Shadow
onto all that's around us
and then begrudge the faults we find.
Self-fulfilling prophecies and confirmation biases:
If you look hard enough for something
you're bound to find it
especially when you're subconsciously projecting it.
We've been trained to let our Shadow speak for us, to act for us
instead of confronting it and integrating it;
many act as a puppet to their Shadow
few (if any) are truly holistic in the realm of mind.
The Shadow is a powerful backseat driver:
it knows what you fear, what you desire, who you hate, and what you can't stand.
It is the manifestation of those parts of yourself
you'd sooner forget than have over for tea.
The Shadow is not something that can be discarded or destroyed
it is only a powerful source of energy and inspiration
that will run you over if you give it the chance;
it will make a zombie out of you.
A creature dominated by Shadow can be said to be a Demon;
a vessel for evil, a conduit for the Shadow's destructive potential:
We live in a demonic society.
By this definition, an evil society.
A society that uses the powers of manifestation and Shadow to breed hate and suffering
as opposed to utilizing them to help preclude such torment.
It isn't just isolated to any one country;
it is a plague upon the people of Earth the whole planet over
for the Shadow is an integral part of the human mind
and anyone can fall victim to it.
With all these counter-examples of maturity and fairness
it's a wonder anyone has any morality to speak of.

and who's to stop me?
management
have managed
their time productively.
shudder to think
they'd begrudge a
subordinate the time
to blast their feelings
off the clock.
leaning over window panes
that lack
balconies to catch
their workers.
my 1-1s have started and ended
with a heart in my mouth
making it harder for the words
'i quit' to get out.
can i just pivot off of can i just piggyback can we just swivel can i put a pin in you and sew up the wounded look that face carries to the coffee machine every lunch Oskar take some sick leave or just leave at this point we haven't identified your fit and our culture of inclusion excludes delays in action i just don't understand how personal problems seep into the workplace what its been five months which is half the time you were with him can't it
just be let go?
just let me go
you're being let go
i want to let go.

Ingrid sat on the brick wall
of the bomb site
her hands in her lap
her untidy hair
held in place
with wire grips
the plain grey
cardigan and dress
had food stains
here and there
you sat beside her
in jeans
and bought for you
cowboy shirt
the Saturday film
matinée
just seen
suppose I'd best be home
Ingrid said
before Dad gets back
he doesn't know
I went to the pictures
and he'll say
it's a waste of money
but it's only 6d
you said
surely he wouldn't
begrudge you that?
she said nothing
but stood up
and brushed down
her dress
best go
she said
wait a while
you said
let's buy some chips
before you leave
I've no more money
she said
I have
you replied
patting your jean's pocket
*********
the 6 shooter
toy gun
hanging
at your waist
best not
she said
if Dad sees me
he'll go off
the deep end
she stood there
half undecided
chips with salt
and vinegar
and maybe
an onion or two
you added
giving her a look
your head to one side
she bit her lip
as she fingered
her cardigan
but Mum said
not to be late
Ingrid said
sometimes
they throw in
a slice of bread
and butter
you said
especially for kids
if you give them
I'm starved look
she smiled
her hands going
into the cardigan pockets
what if he sees me
go in there?
she said
he won't
you said
he couldn't see
the end of his nose
without getting dizzy
you said
anyway he might not
be back until later
she shrugged
and then said
ok if we're quick
and so you stood up
and walked her
up Meadow Row
and across the road
to the fish and chip shop
and bought
2 bags of chips
and onions
and 2 slices
of bread and butter
because you both gave
that we're starved gaze
you walked her back
down Meadow Row
eating in silence
she eating ravenously
her fingers busy
her mouth opening
and closing
once you'd finished
and you'd stuffed
the waste chip papers
into a bin
by the grocer's shop
she said
thank you
that was scrumptious
and she kissed your cheek
and walked off
and across
Rockingham Street
towards the Square
at the top
by the entrance
with arms crossed
grim face
Ingrid's father
stood scowling
standing there.

Fight, fight! Through these hallowed halls,
The chalkboards that seem to scream,
"Rah, rah! You're trapped within these walls,
And all is not as they seem!
'Brilliant!' You may say, and 'Brilliant!' you may be,
But the cramping hands, begrudge,
And no match are you for these cackling C's,
And a brain that just won't budge—
Oh hark! Hear! Oh the scribbles far and near!
Watch your own blank page!
And know why white is the color of fear,
My dear, where is your sage?"
" 'Tis here!" Cry I, and gnash with my teeth,
The grit that lies wherein,
For what shall be, my God will bequeath:
The writ that lies within.

People tell me I'm crazy
To feel the way I feel
Becuase it's all superficial
It's based on nothing real
I know in my heart
How great a person you are
And that can't be fake
Or it wouldn't have gotten this far
But I am really scared
Of feeling this way
I'm scared someone better
Will take you away
It's happened before
And it could again
Because you're truly amazing
Others will see it, and, what then?
What then for us?
It just won't be
I don't begrudge you happiness
I just wish it was with me
It would be so easy
To just walk away now
To never find out what could be
But that won't do somehow
I'll take a chance on you
I'll put my heart on the line
It could just work for us
It could all be fine

The
trailblazers
hellraisers want to learn to fly, but first must learn to try and not begrudge the birds their wings or beaks or things.
It's each to his own and birds have flown for centuries
while man looked on quite jealously,
until
Wilbur and Orville an unlikely looking pair, built a weird looking craft that flew into the air
and there the story lies.
Man
no longer separated from the skies but flying catatonic, supersonic, chronically intoxicated by machines that he's created.
It will all come to pass that when we run out of kerosene and natural gas,
we'll recognise that flying free is but a dream and then we'll see that wings are meant for birds
and no amount of whirlygigs, tornadoes, migs can change the fact
that we were made to walk.

Watch Paul McCartney's erm, debut of thence
That soulful number "Yesterday." and they'll
What, eh? If's not the song itself t'avail,
How 'bout John Lennon's snide remark for sense
To Ringo, was't? As if there was fr'intents
This rivalry which could not in betrayl
Be satisfied to have Paul up (sans bail?)
Alone on stage where all the girls cooed hence.
As if they did not cry for John in tour,
And that by name, he must begrudge it too?
I'm just a child in sheer compare as twere,
Yet "all grown-up" now to effect, see through
Their boyish ways and fall in love, though's poor.
While "Yesterday's" notes never fail to woo.

I don't pretend to know why Eve ate the apple
but I know she's not the one who ****** us.
He created Her for Him.
A Marionett made on a whim, discarded.
The predesecor to the ****** Mother.
Mary, I'm so sorry.
I wonder who realised first their limbs had strings?
A lamb and a shepard
Born for slaughter.
We were all daughters once.
I sat through sermons week in, week out,
never a doubt about where I was meant to fit.
Meek
Mild
Submissive
Mother
I wonder what my daughters opinion is on having never been born.
I stopped reading the bible before I could discover the word for a Childless Mother but I'm pretty sure it's Women.
What does that make me.
When I eat an apple,
I like to cut it into slices and eat each segment individually.
I'll throw away the seeds, nibble at the core, discard the skin.
We were told she took a bite
but I often wonder just how Eve committed her sin
and what is taste like.
I do not begrudge Eve the apple.
I begrudge Adam the audactiy to ask for a partner in suffering.

is a personal choice.
It is well within One's realm of power
to rise above what One has been
to learn from One's own mistakes
and to augment and amend the standards of quality
to which One chooses to hold One's Self.
Edification is not simply a lofty pipe dream
achieved only by perhaps a few past geniuses;
it is the perpetual act of active mental cultivation,
taming One's Mind that One may lead it
that in turn it may propel One upon the Path
rather than One merely being dragged along
for the ride of a lifetime.
Edification is a personal choice.
Begrudge not they who seem to choose to overlook it,
though they may well begrudge you your vernacular;
for it is they who cheat themselves
with some grandiose mass-produced delusion of comfort
and they thereby **** themselves
to forever wallow in their own putrid and vile irk and ire.
And, in the self-absorbed yet self-nihilistic process,
do they cheat us all of an edified society!
Even so, perhaps even more so, with that withstanding,
it is of utmost importance not to begrudge them their disedified state,
for pray they wallow not in malice, but in ignorance;
for all it takes is perseverance and knowing One's Self.
Aye, there's the rub.

*I wonder
Is the sun jealous of the moon
Or the fork of the spoon
Does the pencil envy the pen
Just a little, now and then
Does the tree begrudge the flower
Or the minute of the hour
Does the computer resent the phone
Because it has to stay at home
I wonder*
