Ice
Ice
I feel the ice
Dance in my veins
Then carry it's course
Straight through my brain
Its laughter echoes
As my inner self screams
Then cuts my flesh
Jagged lines rip the seams
Numb of all feeling
The goosebumps have spread
Yet the cold is appealing
My skin has turned red
What is to do
When the world is all froze
To be trapped in the demon
That we all oppose
My limbs went to crumble
The world turning black
No hurt is as humble
As a deep-freezed attack
Truly is ironic
That this pain is all numb
To stare at a mirror
And not know what I've become
Will I eventually break
As my lips turn blue?
With my shivers taking shape
And only one thing left to do...

Live Your Life
Irelyn Thorne Sep 24
I know he screams
I know he lies
He's practically the devil
Right there in disguise

But if that's the case
Then why is he here
Why have you loved him
For all of these years

Charmful and witty
You weren't prepared
So why'd you marry
Just to live your life scared?

Fury of a Tempest
Irelyn Thorne Sep 16
Oh my, don't cry
There'll come a better day
Your body looms so high
Yet has taken a shade of gray

Please don't give in
I hear your thundering scream
Don't let these demons win
Or watch the tears stream

Fear is not an option
Watching the fire in your eyes
A menacing rath which grew
Past the cage of these treacherous lies

Your power consumes now
It rips us all off our feet
Begging for mercy is not allowed
As howling terror roams the street

Deadly flames strike the building sides
The world setting ablaze
Only in destruction do you feel pride
Coating us in your smokey haze

Screeching fills the empty homes
Wrecking it all, brick by broken brick
This feasting power feels all but alone
The revolution of a craving lunatic

Then there begins the echo
As you start to lose your voice
The tears sprinkle as it all lets go
We know you'll be back-there's no other  choice

Now I stand amidst the destruction
I know the pain, I feel your ache
Without mourning, we'll never function
These stormy nights are no mistake
Another late night storm :)

Ashes
Irelyn Thorne Sep 13
Beat me down
Already knew the pain
Hands and legs
Are no match to flame

Past doesn't matter
When days are coming quick
Manipulative people
A twisted game so sick

Reborn--a phoenix
Straight out of the sky
Stronger now
And they'll know the reason why

Spew your venom
And I'll spread my fire
Hurt me again
The flames will grow higher

Flying with wings
In vibrant flashes
So powerful, so beautiful
I'm reborn from the ashes
Took me long enough

Glue
The world needs fixing
That much is true
But we can still make it heal
Let's just start with glue

Split it down the middle
Spew the venom 'round the side
It's not perfect, but it'll function
Maybe we're all a little broken inside
I dream of a day when war and suffering is over, where we can finally except our differences and shed light on our mistakes. No judgement. No cruelty. No insecurities.

If only...

If Death Was a Woman...
Irelyn Thorne Aug 31
Long hair, black as night
Silhouette illuminated by cigarette smoke
A statue of pure rivalry
Between her wasted days

Hands caught between a fishers net
Red hot acid flowing through the blood
Turned ripe from the golden age
And bitter disdain

The poison spreads like smoke
Out of every dying breath
The world coated in her corruption
If death was a woman, have mercy on me
Irelyn Thorne Aug 28
A gift to make my day
Grace me with your presence
Then take it all away

Well, if that's all you can do
Then you can keep it
Because I've dealt with so much worse
Than just your ******* silent treatment
It's funny you think you can still use me...

Final Day
Irelyn Thorne Aug 28
If only you woke upon that final day
Woes and sorrows never been more astray

You send a prayer to who you love so
And the day that you're gone, they all will know

Picked a flower, raining petals through the yard
Each one a thought you can't discard

And when you're leaving, in place of someone's birth
Your final memories will rest here on your earth
Loved one will pass very soon. This is my silent plea that she'll spend it happy, expressive, confident, and with no regrets. A single day of the life she never got to live.

No more numbers
These cries into the night
Unheard gunshots
And fatal consequences
That drowned out the light

A mind so broken
Pieces scattered along the  floor
Another statistic
Lost away
And all we ever do
Is watch the blood poor
To the woman who took her life, and everyone said it was normal

Ignorance is Bliss
Irelyn Thorne Aug 10
The little girl that's deep in me
She doesn't know the things I've seen
A little stubborn, mostly passive
But when beaten down, just as savage

She didn't have demons to resist
With that, ignorance must be bliss
In hushed conversations, nothing but a delight
Certainly didn't wish for a better life

Endless story's didn't weigh her down
In therapeutic talks she wouldn't drown
She walked, head held high, confidence shown
Happiness spreading through different tones

Society couldn't pressure her to be normal
Nor getting bullied, looking formal
She smiled through lights and darkened days
But that was before she knew she was gay

She Cares About You
A waving rifle
In a pain struck hand
A lonely boy
Who forgot how to stand
A knife of beauty
Cut in his flesh
A trail of blood
New and fresh
A single breath
Taken today
Before he tried
To run away
A single pill
To end it all
A final hope
To jump and fall
A new letter
He didn't know why
A single phrase
"Please don't die"

A lonely girl
In a mistaken world
Another fight
About to unfurl
A single dream
Of another life
A large hope
To be more than a wife
A smile curving
Up on her lips
A plan folding out
In careful strips
A pen she finds
Carefree on the floor
A paper she grabs
Then walks out the door
A little plea
She sends through the air
Then throws it in
Without a care
A hurting boy
Will read this too
And she hopes he knows
"I care about you"

A Different Ring
Irelyn Thorne Jul 29
I hate how many words I've wasted
Just thinking of you
How many poems pile
The washed away blood
In my bathroom tiles
Which have haunted me
Since I first spoke your name
A title so mistaken
It has a different ring to it
Nowadays
Just thinking of you
I hate each word I've written
Meaningless poems

Angels Fall
Irelyn Thorne Jul 28
We are nonbelievers
Our skin sparkles in that light
We glow from past mistakes
And trauma fuels our fight

Never speak of pain
Or wear a wound on our face
We're better than that, mature
Mentality-a constant race

Emotions are a betrayal
Hints of suffering in our eyes
Pain dusted across our face
Lives being woven through lies

I am a nonbeliever
And with that, I stand tall
But a part of me decays
Every time I see another angel fall

Man on the Moon
Irelyn Thorne Jul 24
The man on the moon, you see
He has a few friends

He's perfect and broken
And is kind to no ends

I believe he is lonely
Floating gently in the sky

Even if you whisper him your secrets
He'll never tell you why

His pain is unmatched
Yet he's beautiful all the same

Even when he looks at perfect stars
He casts them no blame

And I find it comforting
Looking to him at night

For he taught me even in dark
There is a way to find some light
Inspiration; the quote "but without the dark, we'd never see the stars"

Your Heart
Irelyn Thorne Jul 21
To me, you speak
"Oh dear, give me your heart"
"Why should I?"
You look at me softly
A wistful gleam
In the surface
Of your right eye
A smile curving
Up on your lips
Just barely
A traitorous sight indeed
As you slowly say
"Because I gave you mine"
About making serious decisions off of impulse and the result of peer pressure

Blind
Irelyn Thorne Jul 15
Once all of the weights build up
And you believe that life is just a lie
Something which you've made up
The perfect answer to a broken mind
You'll sob, you'll punch, you'll kick, you'll cry
Because then you'll know you are nothing
Nothing but blind
I miss that feeling of waking up and knowing you're two steps ahead.

It's Okay to Cry
Irelyn Thorne Jul 13
I was told frowning caused wrinkles
When you were sad
Your childhood was wasting away

But now I know all emotions have a cause
That crying is only natural
Sadness isn't what makes our world turn gray
For all of those who believe that they need to constantly be happy -- don't

You Make me Speechless
Irelyn Thorne Jul 11
Is it wrong
To not know what's next
After building up a reputation
To always be the one who knows
And never asks for anything in return
Not once
Is it wrong
To not have any advice
When everyone believes I am healed
That I speak truths
From my harsh past
And shed light
On every other trauma
So is it so, so wrong
To have helped every other person
Yet be at a loss of words
When I'm with you

I Dream to Fight You
Irelyn Thorne Jul 10
I dream to fight you everyday
Because I hate it when you get your way
I dream to fight you every light
Because I can feel your betrayal
Every night

I dreamed to fight you
Like when waves hit the sand
And I'll keep dreaming
Every time I can't stand
Every single compliment you give
And each time you didn't let me live

I dream to fight you
Because I'm jealous of your roots
How you are still a child
And haven't had to deal with many of these truths
I dream to fight you
In each and every way
Kicking and screaming and yelling and punching
Until you listen to what I have to say

I dream to fight you
Because you know what I have lost
Yet you don't seem to blink an eye
Or realize how much of me it cost
And I'll dream to fight you
In every moon and, every sun
Because you think so low of me
But one day I will show you that I have won

— The End —
