i am constantly chasing love
or rather, the question of love

love is a question because it's never been something tangible to me
i've never held it in my hands
i was first approached with the question after an innocent 6 year old asked her father why mom didn't live with him anymore

"we just don't love each other like we did then" he'd say.
even then, she knew "love" had to be something important.

maybe i was pre destined to chase love, since i matured without loving myself
exposed to the harsh environment that is society, i wore no scarf or coat to fight the elements of self hatred

with every milestone, every minute mark, my heart grew bigger in anticipation
would love answer like the colorful pixels of a television set, dancing on my retinas?
or will it engage in a quiet, sneaky approach, like a tiger stalking its prey?

at first, hearing its reply sounded so satisfying
but the more i try to expedite love's response, the quieter it seems to become
i have many years to live, but no longer do i want to engage in this one sided conversation.
a question,
love will remain

a leaky faucet that someone didn't quite finish closing off
a cry for help when the ties of the rope aren't tight enough to hold your weight in lies and sadness.
so a slow drip will suffice

I get creative when the snow falls

The seriousness of tomorrow
I just shrug it off as time borrowed
It’s not much but I’m liking where I learned to stand
On this bright northern piece of land, and
All the while it’s trial by creatures
Two kids underneath the bleachers
I can’t speak, I’m afraid to lose my voice
I just wish I could learn make a noise
Every time I’m so straight to the point
But my life is to new to exploit, and furthermore
We both know that it’s time for bed
But there are too many thoughts running through my head  
Like I’m happy that you and I both shall live
God knows it’s all we could give
Yeah the future is cool and the past is dead
But you wish it were me instead

Happy, I am saved

This body is imperfect and flawed,
originating from earthly dust;
it houses a spirit searching to find
the one, true God in which to trust.

To see myself as Yahweh does,
requires mustard seed of Faith's leap
and to take tangible action
since people know that "talk is cheap".

Separated unto holiness
to accomplish His Purpose and Plan
while sharing the Salvation Message
is the whole duty of man.

Expanding my personal growth
by a divine, refining process,
inspires a desire for betterment

toil in agricultural hell as whites get fat
on the backs of today’s slave system  
immigrant workers bury loved ones on the edges of factory farms
saying Catholic prayers to a corporate god
most well known for being the root of child molestation –
cartel kingpins hire babies to mule ******
DEA agents load them into vans destined for the inner city
As the forever war against minorities takes yet another turn –

have you ever felt

it's emotionally
exhaustive
and socially
caustic
to be caught
thinking

with those
disturbing thoughts

perturbing feelings

I can look towards the sun
and leave the past where it belongs,
telling myself that each piece
of the puzzle of myself
is a necessary part
of the greater scheme.

I can tell myself that
what I know is enough,
that I do all I can
to start each day with intention,
but that does not change the fact
that my feet grow tired
and my eyes lids as heavy
as my soul.

I can try all I want
to expedite accomplishment
and fashion a legacy
worth leaving behind,
but I cannot change the fact
that I am only one person
and I cannot keep up with
the speed at which time moves.

Despite these things,
I continue to dream,
drawing strength from the fact
that I know I am not alone in this.

their smoke fills the chamber with syrup, a lachrymose miasma who ripens her essence so quickly as to expedite her decay
alack, she sees the hazy curtain in her drunken state yet it will not suffice!
forty years she has suffered the slow bleed
voices into lungs
lights into hearts as her alveoli freeze diligently
they welcome the intonations with resolve tantamount to her hands' abstinenence
so she repeats her mantra and the paint is preserved

another incarnation
freedom remains elusive

Stop and think before
You take another step away
Consider what you leave behind
In venturing astray
Yet also what perhaps, you'd find
Out their beyond the known
You never know what self-discoveries
Are waiting to be shown
When they reveal themselves to you
You may be pleased
You left your home
Or may in longing to return to it
Get lost and feel alone
But the adventure
Yes, the journey
Is a lesson to be learned
So I exhort your curiosity
To leave no stone unturned
And never fear what could be under
Heaping piles of facile
Easy roads that expedite
This life
As merely a time trial
For the walk
Within the park is nice
But why not roll
Good fortune's dice
Just once or twice
C'mon and test your luck
And what your future has in store
Or what you make of it
In tirelessly

Whomsoever you might be?

If I wrote a letter to a stranger:
whose name I do not know,
will they answer with a pseudonym:
under a brash bon mot?
If I seal it in an envelope
and mail it off in haste,
will it ever be delivered,
or my writing prove a waste?
Now should that stranger answer,
with deception thought my game,
will their reply be in keeping?
or think it such a shame,
that the details of my letter -
the one they never got -
should be scrapped as junk mail,
because their name I had forgot?
Of course, they may not answer,
which to me would be unfair,
for having taken time to write one,
and mail it off to where
they once resided - perhaps still do?
If they deign not to answer?:
Does that seem right to you?
If I addressed it wrongly,
would it come back to me?
Or if I expedite it,
in a fit of urgency!
If it was not delivered,
what would the mailman think?
Would he ‘return to sender’,
or refer me to a Shrink?
But writing to a stranger,
and keeping them amused,
leaves me in a quandary,
and a little bit confused!
So perhaps I'll scrap my letter,
until a later day,
and write it when I get to know,
exactly where they stay?
But now another problem rises,
one that must be fixed:
with the details I now know,
their ambiguity is nixed!
So my letter to a stranger,
will have to wait I fear,
for news I want to impart,
is nothing they would hear.

So I’ll wait until I’m sure,
that why, who, where and whence,
the news I would impart,
will possess a modicum of sense?
