Giving brings a smile to the heart
It lifts the spirit and puts a light in the eyes
To change the world, we must be the ones to start
An anonymous gift is quite a pleasant surprise

More precious than gold is the gift of our time
There are many ways to give help and give hope
Priceless gifts that don't cost a dime
In the world today we climb a steep *****

Why do we give? What makes it great?
We give to make a difference and put a smile on someone's face
We express love and set aside hate
It's always better to be kind in any case

Sometimes I feel that when I am giving,
Only then am I truly living
Written in the rhyme scheme of a sonnet. Not a pure sonnet in iambic pentameter.

We remember those around us
That make us feel special and loved
We celebrate the many blessings
Showered on us from up above
We give thanks for the food we share
We gather together 'round the table
With laughter and hugs we show we care
And pray for those who are not able

Take a look outside and relay what you see
The rainbow, the dew, mountain and tree
We look at them, yes but try to look deeper still
There is beauty complexity and a purpose to fill
The glory of creation reflecting the creator
Beauty so divine nothing could be greater
Who can look at nature and not be moved?
Who can truly see and say God cannot be proved?
Everywhere I turn there is beauty and grace
It brings a tear to my eye and a smile on my face
In a society so focused on progress and speed
We lose so much of what we desperately need
We miss the signs, and miracles and wonders
That are there just waiting to be found
The beauty of creation our Lord in glory crowned
So dance in the sun and run in the field
In smelling the roses, God’s love is revealed
The rainbow a promise of forgiveness and light
The stars to guide us through the night
Everything in life so perfectly designed
To try to comprehend just blows my mind
So next time don’t just look, but truly see
The majesty, the splendor, the art of God’s glory

"Doth not all nature around me praise God? If I were silent, I should be an exception to the universe. Doth not the thunder praise Him as it rolls like drums in the march of the God of armies? Do not the mountains praise Him when the woods upon their summits wave in adoration? Doth not the lightning write His name in letters of fire? Hath not the whole earth a voice? And shall I, can I, silent be?"

- Charles Spurgeon

"God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars."

- Martin Luther

Lord thank you for the gift of nature and creation. So often, we are so preoccupied with life that we miss all that life and life in you has in store. Help us to see your fingerprints all over and have the childlike joy in the smallest things. Bless us Lord and open our eyes and hearts to not just look, but truly see your beauty and how much you mean to me. Amen

God right now I could use a hug
And a fresh hot cup of coffee in a mug
Won't you wrap me snugly in your wings
And call to mind such heavenly things
The road is hard the road is tough
I'm losing my mind, my patience and other stuff
Lord, hold me close to your chest
And there, let me stay and rest
A God hug is just what I need
Though it is with reluctance I concede
Sometimes, I'm not as strong as I think
And I need your love to pull me back from the brink
Sometimes a God hug is all it takes
And Lord what a difference it makes!
Let me be with you in silence and peace
That as I decrease you might increase
Let me learn from you and lean on you
Where I can find a love so pure and true
And when I struggle to bear my cross
Remind me that not everything is loss
By your gifts, you strengthen me
To become who I was made to be
When I lift others up, you lift me up as well
And my burden is easier, I can tell
So, help me serve and do your will
To sow the seeds of faith and so instill
A firm foundation of faith to follow
But with love, so my words are not hollow
And so, once more, with a kiss and embrace
I am comforted and strengthened by His grace

God, some days I could really use a hug from you. Maybe today is one of those days. I run into your waiting loving arms ad there I rest, I cry, I need someone to listen or tell me it's going to be okay. Help me take a few moments out of my crazy day to get a hug from you and continue moving forward. By your Holy Spirit, reveal to me something that I could do to be a God hug for someone else. Help me count my blessings and use the charisms (gifts) you gave me to do your will for others as we, in turn, find ours lifted as well. Amen

On your own strength, do not rely
But rest secure in the Lord's supply
On our own we are frail and weak
The future is grim, the prospect bleak
Trust in the Lord and all his ways
And you will know peace in your days
Many will try to enter and many will fail
Some of them will beg, but to no avail
Standing on the outside and looking in
At strangers and friends and their own kin
They will say "We were with you, among us you walked
And we all listened when you talked
Let us in Lord, you know who we are"
And He will reply "Depart from me so far
I do not know from where you come
I do not know you from any one
It is not enough to drop my name"
Where do your intentions rest
A personal intimate relationship is best
And here, at last, is the sobering truth
A thing we don't often like to admit
We are not as strong as we think
But in our weakness, God can make much of it

God of All

God of all the universe
God of heaven and of earth
You who made the mountains and the sky
With your Holy breath you spoke Life
God of all, so powerful and mighty
You humbled yourself to be one like me
No words can reach nor all lessons teach
No poets sing nor instruments bring
Justice to your greatness and power
No heart can express nor mind dare to guess
The richness of your love and how much you bless
You Oh Lord are our everything our God and Father
We are so small and frail and yet you still bother
To call us chosen to make us know that we are dear
You give us the reason that we never need to fear
To call you savior is nothing less than right for you
To say brother or friend at times seems less than true
But you love us the same in our brokenness and shame
In our sin and our failings you love us still
You always have and you always will
Creator of the universe you are never very far
You are with us everywhere that where I am, there you are
You have set the way before us you know the path we take
You have been down that road this was no mistake
You are God of the great and small
You are God of all!

God Works when we are doing His Work
He opens doors and windows
When we are not so sure, He will provide
For He is good, and he Adores us
Let us worship and Adore Him Christ our King
He never seems to mind proving us wrong
Or testing our trust by making us wait
But His blessings are perfect, they are never late
Just today, for me, God pulled through
And made this writing possible for you
So, trust in the Lord and give Him praise
Sing to Him a new song for all of your days
Do the work of God with Joy in your heart
Be passionate about His work that you do
Be faithful and He will be more faithful
Be good and He will help you be your best
Be rich in His love and abundantly blessed
Be reconciled and begin to truly heal
Know what you're in for when you seal the deal
But God only opens doors: we have to take action
I am pulled in by some divine attraction
Like a Jesus Christ Moth to a Holy Flame
I am drawn to the light; even compelled
Some might believe I was even enspelled
But if there is nothing else to be gained
I ask that you take this one grain:
That God Work when we are doing His Work

There is a golden chain of love
That ties us all together
It unites us in one spirit and heart
Joined as sister and brother
Across the land, the sky, and sea
There is a chain by which we're bound
The world's most wondrous mystery
Is this love so deep and so frofound
Do to others what you would
Want to have done to you
This was the old law and fair
Now we take this command to new heights
When we love one another
As we have first been loved:
With a total, radical, sacrificial
Eternal, unconditional, unwavering
LOVE
Make peace, not war. Make love, not hate.
Be kind, not callus. Be genuine, not fake.
This love that binds us breaks the chains
We wrap ourselves in of sin and shame
Though our differences seem great
They really become quite small
When we stop and think and wonder
At the love God has for us all
So, live your lives in this tapestry of gold
And reject not a proffered hand to hold
For we are all a link in this great chain of love
Connected to each other and God up above

Good Friday: What is it and what’s so Good about it?!

What exactly is Good Friday and what is so good about it?! Jesus died and we put him there. He died in the most terrible way imaginable and did nothing wrong. As far as we are concerned, we killed our best hope for freedom because now he is dead and that isn’t anything to be happy or good about!

Good Friday is a day of extremes. It is a day of great and overwhelming sadness and a day of hope and joy. It is a day of suffering and agony and a freedom from them. It is a day of powerful evil and of far greater love, day of death and life, of end and of beginning. This is Good Friday. It is on this day that we are reminded of our sin and humanity. So often we are the throngs of people singing hymns and giving glory to God as on Palm Sunday and we are the same angry mob that demanded Jesus death on the cross; mocking jeering and spitting at our Lord and Savior. Yet, in all our sin and hatred not once did Jesus despise us. Rather he looked on his people with all the more love and compassion.

Only Jesus could make something as ugly as the cross into something so beautiful that it is one of the most recognized and venerated symbols today. His heart broke for us as on that cross he showed us the power of perfect love. It is said that love isn’t love until you give it away and Jesus said “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for a friend”. Jesus’s life was his love and he gave it away. It is sobering to think that after all I have done and will do that someone as perfect, powerful and great as God would look on me with love. To realize that he knows my name and calls me, and that he would call me friend, call me child is nothing short of amazing.

On Good Friday we have the opportunity to venerate the cross by kneeling down touching or kissing the cross; in doing so we can bring our troubles, our burdens, our joys, blessings, hopes, and dreams and give them to Jesus in a very real way. Jesus said “Come to me all you who are weary, you who are broken and burdened. Come to me and I shall give you rest; for my yoke is easy and my burden is light”. It is at the foot of the cross that all are equal and all can come; the rich and poor, sick and healthy, young and old.

No one has everything, but everyone has something and each of us are called to use what gifts we have been given to be salt and light for all around us; both around the block and around the world.

So Good Friday is Good in part because of it was on this day that through His death on the cross we might come to have life eternal, sin and death were defeated. Good ultimately prevailed over Evil. Jesus’ death and what would happen after was also made true when he said “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat. But if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life will lose it and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life”. In his death Jesus’ body and blood are the true bread and true wine given for the whole world. His death also has produced much fruit in the people today who follow Christ and his teachings. For more than 2000 years, people have come to believe and the faith has continued to survive, grow and even thrive throughout the years despite difficulties and trials. What would have happened and how would life be today if Jesus had saved himself from death on the cross, and didn’t die for our sins on that day? The world may never know and even though things are far from perfect, I thank God he did. That is Good.

Amen

Good Shepherd

The Lord is my Shepherd… I need nothing more

He is my rock, my guide, my friend whom I adore

He binds the wounded and heals the sick

He is there for his sheep through thin and thick

The Lord is my Shepherd… I need not fear

To You Lord all the flock is very dear

No one more important all loved just the same

He knows all His sheep by name

The Lord is my Shepherd… In whom I find rest

He calls us all to our own spiritual quest

His love is forever, unconditional, and unending

I fall down in awe before The King

The Lord is my Shepherd… He knows his own

The sheep know His voice and tone

The Lord makes sure each one is safe and sound

He will bring them back to safe lush ground

The Lord is my Shepherd… He protects us from danger

Protecting us from any stranger

You separate the sheep from the goats

Guarding us from satan (the crafty wolf in sheep’s coats)

The Lord is my Shepherd… I know He will always provide

Even through the darkest night He is at our side

Delivering me from my biggest foes

When we are overwhelmed and scared He takes the blows

The Lord is my Shepherd… Forgiving and open

Taking in and loving us as we are: ****** and broken

As sheep we are so prone to wander and stray

But whatever we do we cannot get away

The Lord is my Shepherd… And I am in good hands

I rest in His wondrous presence; safe from shifting sands

‘Neath His wings I find a peace comparable to none

I bask in the power and warmth of The Son

Lord, thank you for being our good shepherd! Thank you for keeping us safe, providing for us, and bringing us back home when we go astray. Please be the shepherd of our minds, our hearts, and our tongues as we try to follow the sound of your voice and to go where you lead us. As you are a good shepherd to us, your children, I pray that we too may be shepherds to all people here on earth. Just as you told Peter "feed my sheep" "tend my sheep" "feed my lambs" if he really loved you, so are we called to do the same to our brothers and sisters all around the world. For it is by taking care of the least of these and being a neighbor to everyone that we in turn do the same for you! Amen.

Grace flows through you Oh Mary our Mother
You are the living channel through which God came to save the world
Take us all into your arms and bathe us in the living water of Christ
Make us a channel of His love and peace
Through which the world comes to know Him
Bless us Mary for we are your children
Watch over us, protect us, pray for us and bless us
Help us not forget to honor you with the respect and care you deserve
Oh Mother of the world and Queen of Heaven
Come to our aid, we implore you
In our prosperity we have forgotten your son
And we are paying the price today
Have mercy on us and intercede on our behalf
In the Eucharist, we are channels of God’s presence
In a physical and spiritual way
Our hearts are a dwelling place for the Most High
We become as Christ-bearers
You bore Christ within yourself for 9 long months
When you were chosen and filled with the Holy Spirit
You said let it be done unto me according to Your will
Help us to say yes to God and his Will and trust that he will see us through
Lend us your grace and strength Holy Mother Of God
That we may reflect and imitate your virtues
Lead us ever into an ever deeper and more intimate relationship
With your son our Lord Jesus Christ
And by your grace obtain the fruits of the promises
Especially in the mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary
We ask this and all things through Jesus’ name and through your intercession Mary.
Amen.

It is in our comfort that we forget to pray
It is in our affluence that we are led astray
We need for nothing and we want for naught
And we forget that He is God, and we are not
In the world today I see grace under fire
People killed left and right, a situation dire
A war has come to our homes and streets
And, in the news, all I hear are tales of defeats
But, as a grain of wheat must fall and die
To produce much fruit for you and I
So too does faith flourish in the face of death
The lips profess and the hearts confess
And the heart that hopes in Heaven's halls
And its reunion with the one who calls
Them home at last

It is hard to maintain grace under fire
To remain calm when life most certainly is not
Bless me with courage and take me higher
To retain calm and cool when things get hot

We have been given the greatest mission
In the greatest love story ever written
It's a call to love; it's a call to action
It's the spark that starts a chain reaction
It's a call to faith; it's a call to holiness
It's a call to arms and it's nothing less
It's a mission not hard to understand
And it boils down to one command:
Love each other sister and brother
Be the light of the world, the salt of the earth
You're special, you matter, right from birth

Everyone wants to be loved and to feel loved
Everyone needs someone to be there
To have someone who truly cares
Go into the world and live it out
People you meet will have no doubt
Of whom you are or what you believe
You have become what you received:
You have become the body of Christ!

His hands healing the sick, feeding the poor
His merciful heart that loves and adores
His feet that walked countless miles
His kindly face and his gentle smiles
His palms up, his arms outstretched
Embracing the world from east to west

Reflect on these
And hold them in your heart
Then, bless God and thank Him
When you start
Becoming the very Body of Christ

Time spent together: laughter, sweat, and tears,
A relationship to grow in future years.
Songs, prayer and fellowship abound,
Hugs, smiles, and joy all around!

The fact that, with God, all things we can do.
We seek you Lord; hide not from us your face,
And help us Lord to persevere as we each must run the race.

And in Your loving embrace please keep us warm!

We love You, thank You, and praise You Jesus Christ.

Wrapped in a cloud of light and love
Surrounded in strength both soft and strong
The quiet whispers of peace be with you
Take heart and be not afraid, I am with you
Your Guardian Angel to care and protect
Calming your fears and drying your eyes
Waking you early to watch the sunrise
Beside you always and never out of reach
Sometimes they shield and other times teach
Your Guardian Angel specially hand select
Your shelter in the storm a blanket soft and warm
Your strength to carry on when hope seems gone
Your refuge and strong tower, help in darkest hour
The hug that says it all when words cannot suffice
The sheer joy that suffuses you when the day is so nice
More than simply angels are the many in our lives
Who are guardians that we don’t always realize
Some for a moment and some who may stay
Those who may watch, and love, and pray
Sometimes in the background, behind the scenes
Working for your good even though unseen
For our Guardians up in heaven and those we meet on Earth
Nothing comes close to how much they are worth
So we recognize our Guardians and say a special prayer
That they be blessed and lifted up in the Father’s loving care
We may be a Guardian for someone else in need
And with faith and grace, we too, can plant a seed

Be watchful, be alert, be vigilant
Guard your soul and do not be lax.
Prepare yourselves for the moment
When the thief suddenly attacks.
Build up treasure in your heart
Where thieves and dust cannot destroy
Where moths and rust cannot corrupt.
Guard your heart from evil things
Fill it instead with the perfect love of Christ.
Care for your spiritual health and faith
As a man cares for his lawn
Or, a gardener, his plots.
Arm yourself with the weapons
Of fasting, truth and prayer.
Be unified and protect one another
Breathe deeply the sanctified air
Be a band of sister and brother,
Linked by threads of grace
And by bonds of purest love
And army of angels and a sea of saints
Fight by our side defending our souls.
So you, my brothers and my sisters,
When the day comes at that unknown time
May the Lord find us prepared and ready
That we may partake of the wedding feast
With our fellow man
At the supper of the Lamb.

Embrace and face shadow and light
And by the grace of God I’ll make it through this night

When Jesus is performing miracles
He often says “Have faith” “Your faith has saved you”
Do we believe that this is really true?
Do we believe that Jesus has the power
To cure our every ill?
Even if we aren’t healed, do we trust Him still?
Have faith that God is close
Have faith that He is listening
Have faith and be persistent
Pray always without relent
Have faith, my child do not fear
In time, all will be made clear
If we have true faith, mountains can be moved
Waters can part, God’s presence is proved
Not all will move mountains or turn sea into dry land,
But all will see the power of taking Jesus’ hand.

Have faith and shine like a star

Lord, I don't know where to begin. Life has thrown me a crazy curveball right now and I'm feeling a little anxious about it. I know that this is supposed to be a time of joy, celebration and thanksgiving, but I haven't been feeling it quite so much. I know there are lots of things to be joyful and thankful for: friends, family, my faith, food, water, clothing, shelter, a good job, being alive, being able to see a sunrise or sunset and the list goes on. Thank you for these Lord, and please help me always be mindful of the many blessings you have given me in my life!

Lord, you are the Prince of Peace. Right now, I could use some peace of mind, body and spirit in this crazy world.
You are the King of the Universe and all creation; help me rest in the knowledge that everything is under your command. You are in control.
You are the Divine Physician, healer of body and mind. Please Lord, heal what ails me physically and cast out any fear or doubt with your perfect love.

In the meantime, help me find my strength and comfort in You. Help me carry this cross of mine and, by it, help me to become more holy, more empathetic to those who are also in need of Your Comfort. Walk with me Lord on this road I am on and, if necessary, carry me.

Sometimes it's hard to see you, and sometimes it seems you are far away. Give me the grace to see with eyes of faith and seek you and find you all around me in big and small ways. But you say: "I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future. You will call on me and pray to me and I will listen to you. You will seek me, and you will find me when you seek me with all your heart". (Jeremiah 29: 11-13)

Help me see you in someone who smiles at me as they pass by, the joy that comes in a walk outside on a nice fall day, the incredible beauty of a sunrise or sunset, on a good day with little pain, or having the strength and endurance for a long day and still feeling good afterwards.

Lord, I trust you. Help me trust you in this too and lean on the support and encouragement of my friends, family, spouse, church, and most importantly, You my Lord God. Please help me make a speedy and full recovery, so I can get back to the great work that you have so blessed and gifted me to be able to do. Help me continue to find joy in the job and strength for the journey. Bless my work Lord, that it may be a blessing for others and a blessing for you that others might change lives and hearts for the better and bring people closer to you!

AMEN

Hear the voice of once calling out: Prepare, prepare!
Turn from your ways and repent. I say: be aware!
Make straight the roads and the mountains make low,
Ready the way, believe in your heart, and know:
I baptize you with water to make the body clean
Follow me and I will show you just what I mean.
He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire
His birth was proclaimed by an angel choir.
Good as I may be,
Compared to Him I am unworthy.
He has come to set the prisoners free,
He came to save the likes of you and me
He has come to seek and save the lost
And He came to pay the highest cost.
He has come to make the blind see and the lame walk,
He came to call sinners and make the mute talk.
I stand before you today to testify to the Holy One,
I stand before you to proclaim the love of God’s only son.
Awake sleeper and rise from your bed
For the King with no place to lay his head.
Fix your eyes to heaven, set your heart on higher things
Be washed in the river of life and experience what it brings.
There is new life in Him; the old is gone away.
He is life, His word is truth, His light will show the way
I am the voice in the wilderness calling out.
Your waiting will soon be rewarded, have no doubt.
I am the one sent ahead to tend the fields
That when he comes, he may have bountiful yields.
Prepare your hearts and homes to receive
The one who was, and is, and ever will be.
He, of whom the angels sing and shepherds find
He, to whom wise-men bow down and with whom sinners dined.
I am the voice to quicken your hearts and point to the light,
I am the voice of hope and joy against the darkness of the night.

The firmness of a foundation on the rock

Lord, give me the heart of a seeker
Give me the hands of a healer
The power of persistent prayer
The knowledge that you are there
The courage to accept the answer

Lord, give me the heart of a seeker
Give me the faith of the truest believer
The purity of principled passion
The clarity of the chosen calling
The strength and fortitude to ascend

Lord, give me the heart of a seeker
Look with favor upon your creature
For, I still need a savior, a redeemer
The love of your law makes me freer
And as I go, draw me in ever deeper

Hold me in your heart of hearts
Wrap me in your sweet embrace
To the place that I regard
My hideaway, my secret place
Won't you hold me
Hold me close to your chest
Sweet peace enfold me
While I lay down to rest
Take me further than before
Draw me deeper into you
There is nothing I want more
Than to be wrapped up in you

I know you are here with me
In this time and in this place
In this moment, in this space
Be with me now as I seek you always
Be with me always as we speak now
Tender heart so full of pure love
I sing praise to Him who is above

Uniting our prayers with Heaven's Holy Queen
Who, as a mother, understands most keen
Our joys and sorrows and fears beside
And walks with us a spiritual guide
Just as Jesus came to us through his mother
So, through her, we come to Him

Gaze into the heart of love
Pierce the veil of the inner chamber
To find a treasure more precious
Than all the riches of the earth
Sacrifice and pain are there
As are pure joy and blessed life
In the heart of love is loss and gain

A heart of love does not leave because you tell it
It carries you when you can’t go on
Gives you strength when you are weak
And helps you find the path you seek
It reaches out to catch you
It gives comfort and warmth in the cold dark place
And sometimes it stays near, but gives you space

The heart of love is selfless seeking the other’s good
It does not take, nor ask more than it should
It requires no reward, but a happy heart is riches outpoured

How I wish that I could help you; make you whole again
But even if I could make it better, what then?
I wish I could give you comfort; tell you it’s alright
But it’s not right now and you are stuck in the night
I wish I could give you hope; that all will be well soon
But I don’t know when life will be back in tune
There are many things I don’t know lots that I can’t do
If you let me I might help, but that is up to you
There are some things I can do promises I can make:
That I will be here however long it takes
I can offer you my shoulder I can offer you my ears
I can offer you my hand, and a hug to calm your fears
I can offer you my patience and offer you my time
I can offer you my friendship and all that is mine
I would offer you the world the very sun if I could
I’d go to any length to hear and know you were good
Forgive me if I come on a little strong
It’s just that I get anxious when I hear something is wrong
I internalize, I empathize, and yes I slightly obsess
It’s a blessing and a burden though I must confess
I would not have it another way it is a part of me
It is my heart of love a part of my identity
And so it is and here we are: the most unlikely of friends
And may the parts we play in each other’s lives...
Never find their end!

Can you hear my heart's cry across the sea of stars?
Can you still hear it though I'm miles from where you are?
Do you share the tears of loss and pain,
And still believe that sun will follow after rain?
Watch the moon-light dance and shine
Whatever comes, I am yours and you are mine
I'm trying to live what is pure and right
To show compassion to all and walk in the light
And still my path is riddled with lies and hurt and shame
The way is dark; filled with anger, deceit, and blame
I collapse and beat the ground
I scream, but hear no sound

Can you hear my heart's cry across the sea of stars?
Can you still hear it though I'm miles from where you are?
Can you hear me? Are you listening? Do you even care?
I beg you: show me something! Let me know you're still there!

The words somehow reached God's ears
Moved with compassion he sent an angel to dry my tears.
"Come now, be not afraid" the angel said and helped me to stand
"Dark is the way, the path; unclear, and you do not understand
But do not give up, do not lose hope: the most priceless of all treasure
All the silver and gold and riches could not begin to measure
The treasure you are. What great things God has in store for you!
Plans to prosper and bless and keep you every single day,
And when things are bad or good, call him up and pray.
Any day, time, or weather; he is always fee to talk,
Every step, every breath, every heartbeat; he is beside you as you walk.
Put your worries, problems, and fears at the base of the cross
Give Him control and watch him turn gain from what once was loss.
Trust and rely on the Lord when life is dark and scary,
And you will see that in His loving arms, you he will carry.

He loves you more than anything you could ever know;
You are a beacon of light and hope for many. Shine like the sun and may His love overflow!

He is with us in our hearts and in our lives;
He is not so far away.
Reach out to him in your very breath,
Reach out and hold him in your hands.
He is with us always
To the end of the age and beyond.
He is with us always
We are never truly alone.
He has a place in my heart,
He is here in my soul,
He is the music around me,
He is the spirit that moves me.
He came down from Heaven to live as man;
He came as a human so we might understand
How much he loves us loves you and me.
He is with us at home, at work, at play,
He is beside us each and every day.
This Holy Room and He Is With Us were written during Adoration at St. Isidore in Bloomingdale. I went there on a whim one afternoon. The church was supposed to be closed, but I got lucky and I was let in to pray. It was so cool!!

Because of you I am here today

And I should thank you everyday

No way have I deserved your love and mercy

Why? You didn’t have to die for me; I sin every day

You willingly chose death and humiliation so that I could be free

You stared death in its face

Nothing, not even death’s vice grip could hold you down

You paid the ultimate price to show me love

Still I ask why. You could have let justice be served

But the power of your love overcame that

I don’t know if anything could make me do what you did for me

To die for another out of love or even to save

I don’t know what it is like to die for one much less all

I can’t imagine what the pain of the sin for one life is

Compile everybody’s sins during their life. How?

How could you do it? How could you go on knowing everything you did?

Thank You. Because of you I am here today…

AMEN

How deep is your love (for me)?
That stretches from sea to shining sea
How much higher than the mountains
Streams of life flowing down from endless fountains
How deep is your love for me?
It's a little overwhelming this Endless Love
To feel the weight of your glory falling from above
I am swept forward in this flood of grace amazing
Even now, ever new trails, my heart is blazing
One thing leads to another
And pretty soon I will discover
Rarely, are things as simple as it seems
For now, I'm in a place far beyond my wildest dreams
"How much do you trust me?"
"How deep is your love for me?"
Says the Lord, God of Hosts
It is in Christ's abundant mercy that my spirit boasts
We are playing now for high stakes
It's not a gamble when it's for souls' sake
Never was a time when the stakes have been higher
It is of critical importance, the situation is dire
Sometimes I marvel at your perfect timing
But I still need, at times, your gentle reminding
That Your generosity and love will not be outdone
And I would ask, Lord, let's keep having fun
May I disappear in you as you increase
And may the joy and wonder never cease

Holy Mother through your grace
We can see our Jesus’ face
Your heart so full of love divine
All part of God’s grand design
You are the path through which we come
To know and praise and love your son
I know, but sometimes still fail to see
The great things God has planned for me
By your virtues pure and holy
Direct my life to be yours solely
Through purity and love and truth
May I live an upright youth
And in my final days on Earth
Let my end be but rebirth

Hope is a very potent thing
It can cause the blind to see and the mute to sing
It can break chains and tear down walls
It sees the silver-lining and gets up again after every fall
It is a light in darkness when we have lost our way
It never gives up can't be quenched and recharges when we pray
Hope will keep you moving when you can't move any more
Hope is the fire that burns deep down in your core
Hope will spread like wildfire all across the land
Hope will keep a light on and is hard to understand
Hope can keep a man alive when the rest have given in
Hope can take what would be loss and turn it into win
Hope is something beautiful that shines so bright and true
It burns in me hot and steady: now I pass it on to you!

Go to the place where the sky meets the sea
Cast your gaze and tell me what you see
Far in the East the sun will slowly rise
Painting with gold and saffron the morning skies

From the West the sun dips below
Casting again its crimson glow
To tuck itself in the blanket of night
And come again on Eastern flight

How do I love you? In word, in deed, in thought, in speech? How do I say I love you when the depth and height of Your Love can never be reached?  I say I love you, but sometimes my actions don't match. If I want to truly love and follow you, there is a catch. I must crucify my sin to the Cross of Christ and rise with Him to new abundant life! My Jesus, how much you love me! You took the wages of sin (death) and paid in full so I could live. I can't repay the gift you give, but I can show my gratitude in the way that I live. God, I want to fall in love with you more each day. Make my heart beat for you alone. How do I love you? I love you by loving all I encounter and loving myself, by treating all with dignity and respect Help me see through your eyes of love. Your love is a fire in my heart, a song on my lips and the light in my eyes. I know that you love me, but I ask for the grace to understand ever more deeply and ever more powerfully your endless love for me! How DO you love me Lord? How you DO love me!

How Do You Pray?

Do you pray in silence do you pray with peace?
Do you pray when standing or on your hands and knees?
Do you pray with head bowed low or hands raised up?
Do you pray to satisfy your spiritual plate and cup?
Do you pray for the blessing of others or ask to be healed?
Do you pray to bring down the kingdom and find truth revealed?
Does it matter so much how we pray as that we do?
Does it matter what we pray or for who?
Do you pray with simplicity and words within reach?
Do you pray with eloquence and is it something you can teach?
Is there a better way to pray?
Do you pray from the depths of your heart with every fiber of your being?
Do you know just how much prayer can be freeing?
Prayer truly changes us on a level most profound
Soaring high with feet firmly on the ground
Prayer is more than just words
Prayer could be found in the songs of birds
Prayer is beyond sound into silent surrender
In prayer you never hear about return to sender
God will hear for he is here
Our tears of loss and our tears of joy
He feels our laughter and our pain
He knows our triumphs and our struggles
He has been down that road before
He loves us to the end beyond life beyond death
In eternity He waits for us to be with Him once more
He calls us to follow wherever he may go
He sends us out in the field to sow and reap great yield
We toil and labor and in time it is revealed
The reason for our presence on this Earth we call our home
And none of us should go through everything alone
In a greater plan we have an integral part to play
And sometimes we ask that when we pray
Prayer like conversation is a two way street
We give and take and in the middle we meet
It is more about relationship than it is about the act
It’s a promise of heart and soul more binding than a contract
When we pray, how do we pray?
Are we saying all the words but going through the motions?
Or struggle to find a word but have the greatest devotions?
To just be silent and present could be something strong
Maybe only tears when everything seems to be going wrong
Maybe there is more to prayer than it seems at first glance
Maybe it’s okay and maybe someone gives prayer a chance
Maybe someone’s life is changed by reading this simple prayer
Maybe someone reaches out and finds there is something there
Maybe all of this will make a difference maybe I’ll never know
But maybe just maybe you’ll see the love I pray to show

Lord, how good it is that we are here! How wonderful that we should have the chance to glimpse your power and majesty. Here we are at the summit on the mountain of God. Our souls soar free with the eagles so high above the earth. We are awestruck and fall to our knees so afraid and unworthy. Softly, you call us and bring us back to our feet. Whenever we see you up here, we can't help but be transformed by the encounter; by our mountaintop experience. How good it is that we are here Lord! We want to stay up here with you forever right now. You know that we can't, at least not right now. Soon enough, we have to come down from the heights. Sometimes you lead us to the depths to test us. Do we trust you? Will we turn to you? Do we find our anchor, hope, and strength in you? Sometimes you call us to go into the world and share with our neighbor what we have gained. We are called to show them love; show them your love and to testify to our transformation.

Lord, help us to remember that you are God of the Hills and Valleys, good times and bad, sickness and health. You are the Lord of Life. You are the Lord of our lives. We love you Lord. Help us please to remember that you are in control and that you have plans to prosper and help us. Help us remember how much you love us; both now and forever. How good it is that we are here Lord!

How precious are the little feet
That follow in his footsteps
How precious are the tiny hands
That are placed within his own
How precious the shining eyes
That watch with awe and wonder
The mouth that smiles bright
And ears that hear silent thunder
How precious and how lovely
Is the heart of a little child
It is so full of truth and light
A love that is so free and wild
The eyes that pierce the veil of night
How rich and how blessed
Are those children of the King
How pure the voice and spirit sing
How precious are the young
And those that are young at heart
How lucky they are from the start
How great the soul to see his face
How fortunate to see him in every place
How precious and holy and pure
It is to be loved and feel so secure
Let the children come to me
How blessed the life of simplicity

Help me be humble and modest Lord. Bless the work that I do and let me do good things not so people notice me, rather I do them with a pure heart so as to give glory and honor to you and to help those who are in need. Help me remember the good feeling and the reward I get by helping those in need, especially those who cannot repay me.
The gift of their smile, their gratitude and the knowledge that I have made a difference and potentially changed someone's life is a reward far greater, more permanent, and longer lasting than any amount of money or accolades could ever have. Allow me not to become pompous and inflated when I am successful or praised. Remind me when I am tempted to do so that the gift I have been given comes first from you. Help me also to be appropriately gracious and thankful when I am praised or rewarded and keep me cognizant of the fact that, while it is ok to be rewarded for your work, it should never be the main reason for our work.

The art of humility is to take the bad with the good
It is being able to see ourselves as only Jesus could
It is accepting us for who we are: darkness and light
It is through embracing both the day and the night
It may not always be what we want, but it's what we need
And in embracing the cross that we find ourselves freed
Our view of life is often narrow and clouded
We see things too close and things are shrouded
From our view. We must step back to see clearly
But finding the truth can cost us quite dearly
For when we see as God sees us
When we take in the bigger picture
We see with the eyes of Jesus
In the lens of the living scripture.
When we are honest about ourselves
And we know that he loves us and always will
We feel the depth of that Amazing Grace
And what we see changes everything

So many are hungry starving for food
So many without that which is good
They are pleading they are crying
We are living while they are dying
Can we not, in our abundance
Share a little without reluctance?
Teach them how to provide
Give them the tools to thrive
Love them like Jesus
See them like he does
So many are hungry for the love of God
So many yearning for the daily bread
They come from miles around to drink
Brought back to life from the brink
Feed them, lead them they are lost and alone
Give them shelter, give them rest, bring them home
There is more than physical hunger in the world today
It goes much deeper to a spiritual way
Share your bread with the hungry
Share your food and share the word
And the hungry will listen your words not unheard
So many in the world are hungry
Needing so much more than water and bread
So many in the world are hungry
In greater need of love and good news instead
So give what you have to the Lord
Let him bless and multiply your gift
Give thanks and praise for his goodness
And do what you can to uplift

Jesus healer of our every ill
Let all things be done according to your will
You heal our broken hearts and, once more, make us whole
You are an oasis to the desert of our soul
You are Lord over all creation: water, earth, and sky
When I am weak and worn, into your arms I fly
You are the divine physician; healer of what ails us
We look to you for healing when this world fails us
I would be lost if I didn't know that you are by my side
I dwell in the safety of your shadow when I am terrified
I love you my Lord, take pity on my state
Have mercy on me in your love so great
If it please you Lord, take this pain and suffering
That, of your power, I might sing
But if you don't and this is my cross to bear
I am reminded of your suffering there
Let this be my sacrifice pleasing unto you
Hear the prayers of your servant; faithful and true
I offer it all up for the intentions of those people today
Especially those who need healing in some way
Look on us with eyes of love; hide not your face
We call you now: let your presence saturate this space

Holy is Your name, exalted above all
On every ear and heart may the Good News fall.
Glory to you God, Name above all Names
For, your greatness, the earth and angels proclaim.
Every fiber sings to your majesty Lord;
Words of love and truth, from every tongue, are poured.
The rocks cry out in wonder: the very air is alive,
The very ground upon which we walk is sanctified.
We sing out your praises as they saturate the sky,
A sacrifice most pleasing to you: The Most High!

I am more than the sum of my past mistakes
I am someone who may bend, but will not break
I am special, I am strong, I am brave, I am loved
I am fierce, I am smart, I am beautiful, and rich in love
I am stronger than I know, braver than I believe
Inside my soul, the heart of a warrior beats
I am happy, I am alive, I am built to survive
I will not simply live; I will grow, and I will thrive
I am blessed with His faith, and filled with His power
With love and support, I come through the darkest hour
I am not alone in this fight, I do not walk this path alone
With boldness and courage, I enter the unknown
I choose to count my blessings in the morning
And I give thanks to the good God at night
Bad times do not last, but joy comes in the morning
Sadness and pain will never put out this light
Make every moment count for time is so precious
I ask, Lord, for nothing else, but that you might bless us
Worry not about tomorrow, but have faith in what will be
Let go of the chains that bind you, and be set free
Above all, don't lose hope; God still has a plan
Don't lose sight of the goal even when you don't understand
Faith is daring to go beyond what the eye can see
Believing beyond what the soul can comprehend
Loving and trusting beyond what the heart can fathom
Keep hoping, keep praying, keep going with knowing
That this too shall pass

I am a pencil in the hand of a writing God
I am a mouthpiece through which he can speak
I am an instrument to make sweet melody to the King
I am his hands and feet, but he is my everything
I am his love given for all his precious people
I am the paint he uses to color his easel
He is the potter, and I am his clay
Shaping, molding, forming me each day
He is the shepherd, and I am his lamb
I trust in him and in his perfect plan
He is the author, and I am His story
He is my strength and in him I glory
He is the Lord of my life and my death
For he is the one who gives me this breath
I love you Lord for you are so great
Yet, you reveal yourself in a way we can relate
In loaf of bread and cup of wine
Wrapped in the great mystery of love so Divine
Come down from Heaven to take on flesh
To teach and walk and pray and heal
In the desert place you are something fresh
And in a world so fake you are something real

You search me Oh Lord and you know me,
You created me before I was even born.
In the palm of your hand I was formed:
Created in your image and likeness.
There is a part of you that lives in me.
You live in me and I am alive in you.
You knew my inmost being even before
You knit me together in my mother's womb.
What do you see when you look deep inside
To the dark places that I try so hard to hide?
You love me just the same and then,
With tender, loving, nail-scarred hands
You reach down and pick them up.
You illuminate and restore them.
Lord, you take broken things
And make them beautiful.
I am broken and you make me beautiful.
You took the cross and made it a bridge,
A gruesome death and turned it into life.
You were pierced and you poured forth healing
All so that, one day, I might come to know you
As you, my God, have always known me.

I Asked For Only

I asked for a shelter; you gave me your home
I asked for acceptance; you loved me as your own
I asked for love; you gave me your heart
I asked for patience; you were here from the start
I asked for understanding; you have been to the core
I asked for very little; you gave me so much more

I was a stranger; you welcomed me just the same
Outcast and without purpose; you gave me a name
I was in prison; you came and visited me
Troubled and confused; you opened my eyes to see
I was naked and without clothes; you gave me something to wear
Cold and exposed; you took the time to care
I was hungry and thirsty; you gave me water and bread
And in doing so, my soul was also fed
I was sad; you gave me comfort and dried my tears
Scared and alone; you quieted my fears

In all my years I only dreamed that I could be this blessed
Now this dream a reality never adequately expressed

I asked the Lord that you would be blessed
That by His grace you would pass the test
I asked the Lord that you would be safe
That you would stand up and be brave
I asked the Lord to give you peace
And that your holiness would increase
I asked the Lord to give you rest
And to hold you close to His chest
I asked the Lord to grant you good health
Good finances and great spiritual wealth
I asked the Lord to open your heart
And asked for him, His wisdom to impart
I asked the Lord to hold your hand
When life comes out of nowhere "unplanned"
I asked the Lord to walk with you
On the path of righteousness and truth
I asked the Lord for His presence today
And to send the Spirit to show you the way
I asked the Lord out of loving care
That you would know He's always there
But most of all I asked the Lord for you, my friend,
To bless and keep you now and to the very end

I believe in love everlasting
I believe in love that never dies
And I believe love is what I see
In your eyes

I believe in love stronger than death
I believe love is an eternal spark
I believe it is of God's very breath
And love will lead you through the dark

I believe love can take our breath away
I believe that it's more than enough
I believe it hurts, but it's worth it anyway
I believe in a little thing called love

I believe someone so loved me
He came for me, oh He bled for me
The way He loved so perfectly
It's what I long for so desperately

I believe in love that is not bound
To the ways of the world in which we live
I believe, in love, we'll find common ground
When we learn to take and learn to give

I believe that love is a great mystery
That we may never fully understand
But I believe, in time, we'll come to see
As we take this journey hand in hand

For I believe in love everlasting
I believe in love that never dies
And I believe that love is what I see
When e'er I look into your eyes
