In time of Darkness
wyle tan Apr 2020
In time of darkness
A soft wispher
I hear the Word: Let it Be, Let it Be.

In hour of darkness
Your faithless prayers are heard
In dead Silence
"Let it be, let it be"

In days of darkness
We see fearful people
Rushing around
In fruitless actions
Instead, "Let it be, let it be"
2020 Covid19 pandemic.

The People's Voice
wyle tan Jun 2019
The strength of people's voice, loud and clear
Can any elected representatives speak
As loudly, as clearly as the people?

True courage and democratic freedom
When people gather and march unconfined
Not cowering in their corner
Only to hear their pitiful squeaks

If it must rain, let it not drizzle disappointingly
Let the trumpet sound from the hills
Not under your bed, but let the light of freedom
Blaze fiercely
Reference to Hong Kong march against controversial legislation.

Good Morning
wyle tan Jun 2018
Good morning from Chumphon, Thailand

I awake with happy birds
and country roosters' crow
lazy and slow

I pity busy morning
filled with noisy cars
rushing downtown
anxious and hurried with cares

Existential Rebel
wyle tan Mar 2018
“I rebel; therefore I exist.”
― Albert Camus

The herd live normal lives.
What's a normal life?

Isn't it to taste again a retrieved piece of last night's meal from between one's teeth?
Isn't it an old lover, shriveled and lame, trying to re-experience the ecstasy of his first teen love but lost long ago?
Isn't it to rekindle a calling when passion has grown cold?

A normal is an old movie.
A normal is stale saliva.
A normal is stable center on a spinning wheel.

A normal offers a shelter, but no home.
A normal binds two together, but no love.
A normal sustains life, even luxuries, but no joy.

A rebel lives beyond.
He is fluid nothing.
His home is anxiety.

Only Zeus is immovably still, unchanging silence.
Out of boredom, he creates time.
A rebel is a ******* infant of Chronos.

White Orchids

After slight rain
Around my garden I stroll

Unexpected wild white orchids grow
I pause
Imbibe ****** fragrance
Before it's gone

Beauty often dress in surprise

My Heart
wyle tan Dec 2017
Tiny swallows circle far above
White clouds
Carefree and gay

Below my heart wanders within
Dry stones
Heavy and sad

How long before I can soar
Unshackled?

Come evening stars
Enlighten my way

Ode to Poseidon

Ode to Poseidon

Behold, immortal Poseidon on bellowing steeds
Rushing, foaming in front my tent,
Waving high his mighty trident,
Stirring heaven and making her cry.

'Where are you going?'
'To the seas, to the seas," Poseidon replies.
'Why the rush? Tarry a moment with me.'
'No, no,' he explains, 'There's a troubled sailor at sea.'

Off he jumps over a fallen bough he goes,
With his white, yellow chariots in tow.

Listening in the garden of my home
Peace, solitude.
Oh, what a blissful life.

When we go alone on a one-way journey
Leaving behind family, home, friends
We weep the loss

Loneliness and sadness fill our hearts
With misty eyes we wave goodbye

A struggle begins within
To leave or to stay
Leaving this weariness
Staying with familiar memories

Only comfort we know
A new tomorrow
Only to meet again

Beauty of Mind
wyle tan Sep 2016
Beautiful minds endure erosion of time.
Beautiful faces fade with time.

Beautiful minds come with years of cultivation.
Beautiful faces are shallow promises.

Beautiful faces are lucky inheritance.
A beautiful mind, your soul truly reveals.

First Creation
wyle tan Sep 2016
When Sun and Moon have found their place,
Angels gather as witnesses of first birth.

"Let there be life," Theos proclaims.
Incipient buds appear. Promise of Beauty forever.

Life bursts forth.
Flowers and weeds grow together.

Weary gardeners tend the soil.
Angels in silence weep when flowers fall.
