Bookworm how I envy you
you live and ingest the written word
You have been around many volumes of knowledge
Taking it all in adsorbing it all
Living through those words and living because of them
Do you have a favorite type of book?
You may have even seen some famous authors
If you could write you would already know, many words
If I could let the words all sink in as well as you
I could be a remarkable student that is why I envy you
Should I be a bookworm too?
I once saw a real Bookworm once in a book I had been planning to read.
That and all the schoolwork recently has inspired this Random poem.
I hope you like it.

I went down to the shopping mall
Since I saw one store I thought I should see them all
They said they except Visa and MasterCard and American Express
To use one or all or none that was the ultimate test
It would have been best to walk out with a full pocket book
But I thought I would just take a look because
I was Bored In the USA
yes Bored in the USA
Just for fun I thought I would try things on
especially those items with a sale sticker on
I rushed to one store than to the next
If I have to carry much more stuff I might break my neck
all because I lack self control when
I am Bored in the USA
I tried to resist shopping again
My friends and family said I spent too much
I thought my computer would be safe to touch
I saw an add for items from a favorite seller on EBay
I thought it was Ok just to look, one click is all it took
I now am Highest Bidder
because I was Bored in the USA
I did not really need it but like I said
I spent too much because
I was Bored in The USA
Bored In The USA
Bored In the USA
Just listen to Born in the USA and got this idea, I hope it makes you smile on this Monday! yes sometimes I do shop to much, especially when bored or emotional or hungry.

I went to Justin Ploof and the Throwbacks Creedence Clearwater Reviva Tribute concert it was a lot of fun it made me feel like I was a Fortunate Son even though I'm a lady
I thought of flowers and psychedelic colors or maybe that was the effect of colorful lights on stage
I saw some people Down In The Corner break out in a dance at least it was peaceful not enraged
I think the crowd went a little crazy when the Bad Moon Rising played I was encouraged by some friends to get out of my seat when they pulled on my hands and we raised our hands to the band
The blast from the past took people on a trip to memory lane ending the rockumentary  with Proud Mary, I wish you could have been there my friends!

I remember running down the halls in high school while people shouted, that I should try out for track
The reason that I ran so fast and no one had my back was my bully
It was not just his words I feared though his words often made me feel ill
I got the chills when he tried to set me on fire ,when I had on a dress my sister made for me
I tried to report it to a respected teacher at school, who said that he could not help it, because he lost his mom
I still felt that something was wrong about this teacher's logic
I reported it to my sister and the bully's lighter got taken away
I got harassed by the bully and his friends about his lighter being taken away, they called me a Narc
I felt better though that I talked about it, instead of hiding it inside
It felt right to shed some light and make it know that bullying is wrong
I recently heard on the news, now bully's have a new tool, via text and online cyber bully
A 12 year old girl recently took her own life after a few girls bullied her for a number of month's.
I think those girls should be charged with a crime as if they murdered her. It was not right that they took away her self esteem and confidence till she felt like she could not take it anymore
She gave up the fight, I wonder if her parents knew and I wonder if the other girl's parent's knew what they were up to when they bullied her
I wish this tragic event could have been avoided I feel for the parents loss
People need to know that bullying comes with a great cost, one's life which is priceless
I saw the story on the news which saddened me, and it brought up some memories of when i was bullied

Let us treasure today
We are not promised tomorrow
Let us seize the day: CARPE DIEM

Let us dance like there's no tomorrow
Let us do things today instead of putting it off until tomorrow
Let us cherish the moment before it rushes away
Let us seize the day: CARPE DIEM

Let us eat all kinds of good food
Lets eat our favorites
Let us read our favorite poems
Let us write some poems too
Let us seize the day: CARPE DIEM

Let us tell our family we love them
Let us call our friends and tell them too
Let us  create some memories and write them down
Let us not take things for granted
Let us not waste today
Let us seize the day: CARPE DIEM

Sometimes unfortunately I get a little behind
or have way too many thoughts pressing on my mind
or I am experiencing sickness or heaviness on my heart
at times like these my best intentions seem to depart

It forces me to play a game I don't want to play
or I might say that I'll get around to it on a Rainy day
The game is called catching up
It can be quite intensive
or in the case of paying a bill late
be extremely expensive

In the game of catching up I never seem to win
mountains of laundry make my head swim
mail piles up as I feel like I'm about one step forward
and twenty behind their are thousands on e-mail that
I can not read through it feel at times like I might lose
my mind

Worst of all I get behind on what I enjoy reading the most
The beautiful inspiring poetry from all my Hello Poetry
Family and friends to whom in my gratitude my words
alone is not adequately expressed
You have inspired me and enriched my life
and poetry has once more become my life's breathe

I am sorry that I get a bit behind on reading poems or on replying
at times
You are etched in my heart and mind at times that I am away
when I get a chance to read your poems it really makes my day
Each time I go on here I discover new poetry treasures to follow
so I continue to get behind while trying to catch up
but it seems to be all worth it now!
With Heart felt Gratitude to all my Hello Poetry Family& Friends
       Poetically Yours,

( Feat Syd Rivers)
    (Feat Gwen Johnson)

Blast of bright flames
glowing in the horizon,
igniting the trees

A prayer to God
releasing celestial drops,
water saves the land.

Blowing is the wind
carrying seeds of new life
gently caressing

Today’s barren tree
tomorrow’s fruitful harvest
live expectantly.
It was such a pleasure to work as a part of a trio on this Poetry collaboration of Haikus with both Syd Rivers and Gwen Johnson who are both talented writers and great people too! Thank you, so much for working with me and for challenging me to work on something new to me the Haikus. It was so much fun! :)

I think  it is time to take a chance
I will reach out and touch my dream
even though impossible  it may seem
It is up to me to strive and try
I want to see what i can achieve if i believe and take
one step at a time, i won't lie at times it might be tough
In the end i hope to accomplish much, i need to trust
and use my talents and ablities
I am planning to take a chance and go back to school .

Change can fall upon us gradually like leafs changing colors in the fall.
Other times it hits virtually out of nowhere and unexpectantly like a hurricane.
Sometimes it tosses us to and fro causing us to scramble to get a firmer foothold.
Other times change can appear more subtlely like a warm gentle breeze such as gradually falling in love.
Change can both bring about both fear or anticipation dependent upon  our perception of the outcome.
The winds of change will blow that is something over which we have no control it is part of life.
However, change can either strengthen us or weaken us the choice is up to us regarding our attitude and reaction to changes in our lives.

I had change in my pocket that I was itching to spend
I went to the machine to see what I could vend
I counted out my money and to my dismay had only enough for 1 can of soda not two
If you grab a glass I will share with you
I thought of this while at the vending machine at lunchtime at work.
Ann M Johnson May 2016
The best test of one's truest character is not in how one treats their friends
but on how they treat those that they don't particularly like.
It is good to strive to always treat people with the same respect that we expect from others.
After, all we are all sharing this same planet together.
Sometimes an unexpected blessing happens and a former enemy or (bully) becomes a friend.
Some people change and grow and can surprise you.
It may take years but when it happens it can be amazing and really brighten your day!
Live to cherish and see the good things in life than they can outnumber the bad and help put your perspective and life back in balance.

Do not just merely follow your dreams
Chase after them
Visualize them coming true
Overcoming all obstacle's
Keeping your eyes on the prize
The joy of your dream coming true
You will then inspire others to make their dreams come true
This poem is inspired by one of my lessons in a class I am currently taking.

In the dream I can swim in a chocolate river
I watch chocolate fountains
I climb many chocolate mountains
I pick chocolate flowers
I eat endless chocolate bars, pies and cakes
I watch  chocolate stars
I hope you have sweet dreams too
Please like if you love chocolate too

It is Christmas in July
The neighbor's having  BBQ's
Inviting not just a few, but as many as they can fit
To roast Smores and sing songs around the fire pit
They even gave a poor boy a soft ball mitt
They fed some local homeless men and women too
They also inspired some random acts of kindness
I hope the trend spreads like wildfire
It is a wonderful time to put aside any family feuds
I don't know if the story will make the news

It is really up to me and you, to make it Christmas In July and all year too!
This is how it should be generosity not just ,on Christmas but all year long

I drink you to feel more alert
I drink you before I work
I drink you some more
You practically seep from my pores
If I drink you to much I feel jittery
Then I feel like misery
When a new day starts
I drink you again
The vicious cycle never seems to end
I wrote this when I had my morning cup of coffee

Collections of what  does these things speak
Carousel horses reminding me of a simpler time
Also reminding us stay in touch with childlike wonder
Horses also run with determination with a pace all their own
Butterflies to navigate life's changes with dignity and with gracefulness
Angels to remind me that's alright to ask for help and guidance in this journey called life
Poetry helps tie all the collections together and helps me find my own version of wings
I dedicate this poem to All My Hello Poetry Friends, you are great!

Much unhappiness comes about when  comparing ourselves with someone else
I used to spend a lot of time comparing myself to family, friends, or peers etc.
I was much happier when I stopped comparing and just decided to be me.

I am not normally one to be at a loss of words
The funny thing is around you I get tongue tied
I wonder what do I fear we have been friends for many years
I wonder do I fear rejection, or am I seeking protection for my heart?
I am wondering if maybe, I don't want to lose such a great friend
Life is so complicated sometimes
If I don't take a chance I will never know
I don't want to be haunted by the should have done
I will muster up the courage and send you a message
I hope that sometime soon I can do a happy dance

I count the minutes
I count the minutes until we can be together
You are missed my friend
  My first love
I knew it from the moment I first picked up a pen
You never judge me
You seem to always love me
You make sense out of  my every silly thought
In fact at times you turn the weirdest ideas
Into an inspired work of art
For these reasons and oh so many more
I will love always love you
I will come visit you soon
When  I get to take a  break because things are so hectic right now
Hopefully soon for my sanity's sake
You except me even with all my mistakes
   Lets plan for June
I will meet you again soon
I will bring a notebook and pen
   My love and friend
Your name is like a sweet melody we all sing to your tune

I resolve to count my blessings not just at thanksgiving but all year long
I heard an attitude of gratitude can alleviate some symptoms of depression
I consider it a blessing to have a roof over my head
It is also a blessing to have a bed
I also consider it a blessing every day my bank account is not in the red
It is a blessing to be well fed
It is a blessing to have family
It is a blessing to have friends
If I keep counting my list might never end
My friends please try to count your blessings

Count Your Blessings

I resolve to count my blessings not just at thanksgiving but all year long
I heard an attitude of gratitude can alleviate some symptoms of depression
I consider it a blessing to have a roof over my head
It is also a blessing to have a bed
I also consider it a blessing every day my bank account is not in the red
It is a blessing to be well fed
It is a blessing to have family
It is a blessing to have friends
I am very grateful for HP and my HP friends
For learning things everyday
For  life is a gift
If I keep counting my list might never end
My friends please try to count your blessings
This is a Revised version of my last year Thanksgiving Poem.

It is often said that the cup can be viewed as half full or half empty
The fact is we should be able to agree on is
We all have a cup that can be filled
If we All tried to build another person up
          Fill there cup
            Instead of putting others down
which can drain ones own cup along with the other persons cup
If you meet another person who appears mean or insensitive or rude
perhaps their cup has been drained so much
They don't know how to fill it up again and are badly in need of having their cup refilled
A small compliment a little kindness, a smile could help fill up the cup again
A cup of friendship can go a long way and help  another person have a better day
The world is full of hurting people needing to have their cup refilled
Seeing things from someone else's perspective is a good start
Is the glass half empty or half full, you can decide?
Have  you raised your glass and tried to share a Cup of friendship
and filled another's cup today?
If not the present is a good time to start
If we all filled up the cup instead of emptying it
We would have a better world
Fill up the cup today

Customer service you say
I look at things a different way
Especially after spending half my day
Trying to get things resolved
Testing my patience and nerves
Been on hold for God only knows how long
Trying to stay strong
Please hold your call is important you first said that 5 hours ago
I hate being bounced around to different departments and then put on hold again
I am not a bouncy ball
I am wondering if I could talk to a guy named Paul instead of people who's names I gave up trying to pronounce 2 hours ago
You say to make a selection, but there is not a valid choice listed
If I press sales, will I get a person to talk to then?
If they think they can sell me something my call might be important then, especially if they get a commission
If I have to take much more of this, do I have permission to Scream
I feel like I'm stuck in a bad dream
My patience is getting thinner and my hair too
I pulled some out while I bit my tongue
I did  not want to say things I might later regret
I want to say one thing if I may speak my mind
I gave your customer service a new name
It is Customer Disservice
This is based on my experience with so called Customer Service.

Oh it is that time of the year again
I have to set the clock's again on my microwave
on my alarm clock
on my wristwatch

It's that time of year again
  it fills me with dread
I become reluctant to leave the bed
even if I try to go to sleep early
as hard as try to sleep
I'm forced to count the sheep

The one clock I can not set
is the one that is most upset
My internal clock does not wind
to automatically set to daylight savings time
May I make a request, please
Just don't mess with people's circadian rhythm
As far as setting wrist watches. I am thinking about buying two cheap watches one set one hour back for fall and one set an hour ahead for spring. How does that idea sound?

Dear Depression,
It has been about 6 months of being away from you
I would breathe a sigh of relief
but I am afraid to let down my guard
If I give you an inch you would take ten miles
You are like a lion seeking to devour me
You are like a cobra waiting to strike
They say that misery loves company
You hang around with doubt and despair
You are close chums with Anxiety who I know to well
I have know you since I was a kid
Your connection to me grew stronger in my teens
I had a few good years apart from you here and there
Then all of a sudden you were back with all your bad friends
and my life fell apart again even worse than before
You robbed me in regards to my relationships with family and
  friends
  Sending me into isolation
I have to make it clear I don't want you around
I have had a taste of happiness and peace without you
I don't want to give it up
I will be better without you
I will be in the company of family and friends and with other
  people who understand
I will be the one wearing a genuine smile
I will be the one encouraging others when they have a bad day
I will be a shoulder to cry on for my friends and family or for any one else who needs a friend
I will be the one who is grateful for each new day
I will be the one who is hopeful that I will part ways with you forever
I am the one who is finally pursuing my hopes and dreams
That is why I need to be away from you and all your friends
Goodbye depression I will not cry, I need to part from you
In favor of an improved life
I know at times I will have bad days but I had worse ones with you
   Sincerely,
    Ann

Deck the halls with wreaths
Fa la la, la la la, la la la la
Lets play the old time carols
Fa la la la la, la la la la
See the cash register before us
Fa la la la , la la la la
Swipe the credit card and sing a chorus
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Follow me in merry shopping
Fa la la la la, la la la la
While I see the holiday treasures
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Quickly the year passes ,
as we shop with the masses
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Hail the new year will soon before us
sing with me this chorus
Fa la la la la, la la la la
Lets not mind the winter weather
Lets all be together
Fa la la la la, la la la la

I recently read a joke about a little girl and she was saying a prayer Know as the Our Father and at the end instead of saying deliver us from evil she said deliver us from e-mail.
I thought about this as I sent out on the task of trying to delete lots of e-mails that have piled up,
I say Deliver me from e-mail.
The more I delete the more seem to appear, The spam I find you can not fry and serve with eggs
I *** a lot of political e-mails, I don't know how they got my e-mail address in the first place
The other ones trying to sell my things I don't need, about one percent from some people I care about
I try to delete a few they multiply like bunnies, I sigh I get up and walk away and take some deep breathes.
I think I'm delivered from e-mail at least for today.
Deliver us from e-mail I pray

One day an old man was walking down a beach and He say a little boy picking up starfish that had washed up on the shore,
He came up to the little boy and told him "You can't possibly save all those Starfish" The little boy picked up a starfish and threw it back in the ocean and said" For this one I made all the difference"
I am sharing a story I heard some years ago this is Ad lib to the best of  my memories.
My friend's if you feel like you don't make a difference , or feel discouraged your poems don't get many views, keep in mind if they reach even one person they can make a difference.

I am searching for something long lasting in this disposable world.
We have instant messages and fast food.
we are lacking things that are longer lasting things are made of cheap plastic , not anything fantastic or made to last.
Our friendship's can be too quickly pushed aside or become like strangers when the tide comes in.
When will we want something more permanent
When will we hold onto something more lasting, instead of things like cheap plastic and the disposable.
We need to hang on and hold on to what is worthwhile and not what can just be bought.
It is just a cheap Imitation and is just disposable.
It is time to reach for what is real and tell your Loved ones how you feel.
I was just thinking about the state of things in this world compared to what is truly important.

I have been so busying studying
That I need a distraction
A break from the action on my computer screen
My mind is so full of random facts and data
I am getting a migraine
My brain needs a break
Should I bake a cake
or is that the stress talking
Maybe I should  be walking
I don't want to walk alone in the dark
I hope the neighbors dog don't start barking
I really need my sleep tonight
If my eyes were not so sore
I might just cuddle up with a good book
Thinking of a temporary distraction
My feet will make some traction on the kitchen floor
I will make a cup of Hot chocolate
read a poem or two
Sit in my lazy girl chair drink the hot chocolate
and think of the best distraction of all
All of my poetry friends
Have a good day or Night
I wish to thank you all for your wonderful poems
and your friendship :) :) :)

I recently went on a website House Of Names.Com
I discovered that my maiden name means Spindle
I don't think it defines me ,my sisters have inherited
the sewing gene not me.
In Home  EC.  in high school I got my finger stuck in
the needle, I did not fall asleep and get woken up by a prince
I instead got make fun of by my teacher and peers alike
When I made  a mistake and used a seem ripper, I ripped the material
Worse of all I was new at sewing and I was given the project of making a sweatshirt with ribbing, and the teacher Exclaimed, " I thought I would you something that was challenging, but I didn't know you had no talent", in front of the whole class, that really hurt and discovering what my name means, has brought up bad memories for me. On the plus side ,though I can sew on a button by hand, beyond that I prefer to delegate the responsibility of sewing to someone else. What's in a Name? I ask you? what does your name mean?
Does it define you or not?
As far as I'm concerned I want to be defined by other things besides my name, if other people don't like it, I say sew what!
Hi, it has been a stressful week, sorry if I'm venting, it was a neat site though and it is nice to learn what certain names mean. I am curious to know what your names mean my Hello Poetry if you wish to share.

My blood runs red when I bleed
You seem so full of hate even when you breathe
You don't seem to care
You seem unaware of the pain you inflict on others
You might suffer from a deceased mind
You might discover some day that it is effecting your insides
perhaps it might lead to necrosis
I wonder when you bleed does your blood run Blue instead of Red
I somehow feel sorry for you, a part of you already seems dead
To prepare for an essay for school, I have been reading works of a darker side that combined with a Life's situation influenced this piece of writing.

Don't judge me with blind eyes that can't see the truth.
your blind eyes that just see in stereotypes with prejudice
I am a unique individual who cares how people feel
If you refuse to see
I refuse to be a victim to Society
This poem is for everyone who ever felt judged by others.
