Maybe one day
I will shed the doubt
that you sowed in me
that day you turned away.
Mitch Prax Jan 2014
do you ever get the feeling that
The closer you connect with someone,
the further away you feel?
do you ever get the feeling that
when you think of someone so much,
that every thought seems real?
Mitch Prax Jul 2020
Do you love
what we were?
who we are today?
or what we could
become?
Mitch Prax May 2022
Do you miss me
like I miss you?
I do not know if you do,
or if you still think about me
like I think about you.
I do miss you,
who I thought you were
and how you made me feel.
Those things are gone now,
just a memory I will
continue to miss.
Mitch Prax Aug 2023
"Why do I feel you letting go of me?"
I think to myself, a thought I have far too often.
And I wonder,
do you feel it too?
Mitch Prax Dec 2018
Well, I guess it's
just one of those nights
when I don't care if my batteries die
and I don’t switch on
tomorrow.
Mitch Prax Aug 2023
Nevertheless,
I keep on writing to the dream
of what I imagined
we would share.
Mitch Prax Mar 2019
You're a dream
I want to get lost in -
One I don't wish to wake from.
Mitch Prax Dec 2024
The time spent with you
went by like a dream.
I dream about those dreams-
moments in time where
I have never felt more awake.
Mitch Prax Aug 2020
I guess our dream
of owning a dalmatian
doesn't matter
anymore.
Mitch Prax Aug 2020
Death has made
one too many
appearances
in my dreams.
I forgot how long it's been
since he first woke me up or
how long it's been since
I feared my own
dreams.
Mitch Prax Jun 2022
It was nice
To have the idea
that I had met the living embodiment
of all my dreams and fantasies.
It was doomed from the start
because that's what it was, a fantasy.
Still, I do not regret dreaming-
giving in to what was probably a
delusion more than a dream
because to this day,
you are still the closest thing
to what I could dream of.
Mitch Prax Aug 2022
Don't let me close my eyes-
wake me if I do,
even if I am dreaming because
no dream can compare to the one I lay beside.
I want to dream of you
with eyes wide open.
Mitch Prax Feb 2022
I still dream about you
from time to time.
Sometimes I wish to not wake up,
sometimes they turn into nightmares.
Either way, I am sad when I wake up
to see that you are gone.
Mitch Prax Jul 2020
Even the bad ones are good-
they remind me of how poorly
reality measures up.
Mitch Prax Nov 2024
Isn't it strange
how we forget most
of our dreams yet there
are some dreams that
we carry for the
rest of our lives?
Mitch Prax May 2022
If it were not for dreams,
how else would we escape?
There would be nothing to look forward to
each time we close our eyes
and wonder what world awaits us.
At the end of the day,
whether we feel sad,
happy, or anything in between,
we find solace in closing our eyes
as we drift into the dream world.
Sometimes we wake up with feelings
we did not know we had.
Sometimes it is good to escape
at least just for a while.
Mitch Prax Aug 2022
I thought I
was tired but
it turns out I just
wanted to dream
about you
again.
Mitch Prax Oct 2022
Your love
makes me feel like I'm
falling like a petal in
your presence.
Carried by your breath,
I drift into your heart
and make my home.
Mitch Prax Jun 2018
Sure, I am just a passenger
in this story of your life
but each ride exhilarates me;
it rocks me to my core
and leaves me wanting more.
I always leave with a smile,
like we drove to the top of the world;
the perfect stop to drop me off
and let loose the butterflies
I collected along the way.
Mitch Prax Apr 2024
Be sure to
contain those
seas and storms within you
or else those leaks and lightning
will leave you drowning.
Mitch Prax Apr 2021
I am drowning
in this ocean we call life.
It's a bottomless abyss of
weight and worry.
I can't resurface,
it never ends and
I suffocate.
Mitch Prax Feb 2022
A photograph of you
brings back a wave of nostalgia
and I am drowning
in memories
once again.
Mitch Prax Nov 2019
I don't know how much
you had to drink but I know
you were completely out of your senses.
I couldn't quite make out the words,
but I guess even then,
it felt good to hear some affection.
Oh, how terse the mind is deceived
so easily by the false mask
of a bottle of ***.
Mitch Prax Aug 2020
It is true,
each day brings us
closer to death.
But you,
you make each day
worth living.
Mitch Prax Aug 2021
Even though
I love you hard,
it is still so
easy.
Mitch Prax Dec 2021
I long for
these restless nights-
it's just me, the darkness
and the echoes of all
the other lonely
souls out there.
Mitch Prax Mar 2019
When I eclipse,
just know that we will meet again
and you will be at my side.
I will shine on you again
and we will give the world
something they won't forget-
a dazzling twilight for all to see.
I am your sun,
you are my moon.
Don't leave me in darkness
anytime soon.
Ego
Mitch Prax Feb 2021
Ego
All we have to do
is admit when we are wrong.
It's as simple
and difficult
as that.
Mitch Prax Nov 2019
my love for you has evolved-
it doesn’t tear me apart
anymore
or leave me lonely,
but it doesn’t make for
great company either.
Mitch Prax Sep 2022
I still believe there is a
little piece of love that flickers in
the centre of your heart-
Like an ember struggling to breathe
in the heart of a
stormy night.
Mitch Prax May 2022
It's so easy
to create emotions-
what's difficult is holding onto
those emotions.
Mitch Prax Feb 2018
when you take out
every part of me,
leaving it all behind
and filling me
with yourself,
every inch and feeling
and every thought of you
has consumed me whole
and then you leave
me behind too
Mitch Prax Jul 2024
I worry about the day
my tank will deplete
and I won't be able
to give you my
all for I will be
running on
empty.
Mitch Prax Aug 2021
My mind
may be empty of words
but it is not
empty of you.
Mitch Prax Feb 2018
I wish they’d all go away;
The crowds, the voices,
all of it.
Yet they continue
to fill these empty days.
Time will continue to fade
and bring a brand new day
to waste my life away.
Mitch Prax Sep 2019
How am I
supposed to believe you
when all of your sweet
but empty words
and promises smell of
someone else’s name?
Mitch Prax Jan 2018
If someone told me
you’d be mine
sending me your love
all the time
I would have laughed.
But it seems as if
This endless fairytale
is in our eyes again
such a perfect story
and a dream so intense
this isn’t making sense.
Mitch Prax Jul 2021
Another endless winter
without you-
just the memories that
kept us warm
so very long
ago.
Mitch Prax Jul 2020
I have long
forgotten the warmth
of the summer days-
inside my heart,
there is an
endless
winter.
Mitch Prax Oct 2018
I wonder how much pain,
that all-too-real pain,
I’m enduring on a daily basis.
I’m used to feeling like the weight of the world
is balancing on my heart
whenever I open that door
or a tidal wave of dread
plowing into my chest
every time I open my mouth,
but I wonder how much pain
I truly endure.
Each day seems to take a different toll.
Yes, some are better than others,
yet when I recall
how much I have endured,
I wonder if I should be amazed or ashamed;
I haven’t figured that out yet.
Mitch Prax May 2024
I would erase all the poetry
I had ever written for you if
it would free me from
your grasp.
Mitch Prax Sep 2020
I'm still reading
the book she gave me
for Christmas.
Bukowski-
it's as good as you'd expect.
So why is it taking me
this long to finish?
Mitch Prax Dec 2021
The universe sings its secrets
over a symphony of stars above.
We answer back with a song of our own-
songs of love and hate,
of hope and memories.
Such soul we put into our songs
and yet they are but whispers
when sung over the
eternal song of the cosmos.
Mitch Prax Apr 2023
I don't know
how long I will miss you,
perhaps it will take as long
as I've wanted you:
an eternity.
Mitch Prax May 2024
Spiderman would have
been in awe of your wit,
Just as superman for
the way you never quit.
The hulk would have
been in awe of your might,
just as Thor for the
way you shone so bright.
Eve
Mitch Prax Nov 2024
Eve
And so we reach that time again-
the eve of an election.
The world holds its breath
for better or worse
as we turn another
page in the books
of history.
Mitch Prax Jun 2022
Even in dreams
I cannot escape you.
Your voice still shrieks through sleep
and your face can still be seen
throughout these dreamscapes.
What was once a method of escape
has now become a prison of
memories of a love I thought I
left behind long ago.
Mitch Prax Aug 2024
Why do you expect
everyone to like you when
you don't like
everyone?
Mitch Prax Oct 2021
You grew like a
sunflower in summer
and filled my soul with warmth.
You plucked the thorns from my heart
and planted gardens instead with
love blossoming from
every petal.
