pony-tailed playmate head tucked in her shirt gazing steadily down at her toes in the dirt chaos tiptoes around her naive oblivion journeys in far away lands just west of the meridian watercolor fairy tales bleeding outside the lines unaware of the danger unaware of the signs let me sit with you, darling in the dampened flower beds and paint a new world for us in our heads

never grow up
Oh sleepless night What a trick on me you play! For the reason I cannot sleep Is because I anticipate the day We build our day up To have it elapse at night But how too often a time I experience A continuance through the night Oh how unfair to me you see For nighttime is a break much overlooked Because I walk through the day quite sleepily Which is difficult in a day so overbooked Sleeping figures Rejuvenating minds Your mind is cultivating in peace While my face is forming lines Oh how I wish I didn’t get so worked up I expected this to happen Which ironically is the reason My tiredness has been dampened I lay in bed, ready Ready to try this out A pleasant sleep is all I wanted Without completely passing out How I get so jealous when You lay there and drift to rest While I’m dealing with two polar issues-- Either abruptly collapse into sleep or else from it slowly digress Oh sleepless night, you tease me so You fool with me and upset me so For when thinking of tomorrow I surely know I’m not going to be as lively as my potential. It’s like I’m a hobo on Fifth Ave Looking at the rich not realizing what they have I get excited over spare change While you collect your pay checks again and again So let’s face it, tomorrow I’ll be miserable And I’ll look forward to when the clock strikes night But then the hours I have will become considerable So I’ll lay there restlessly and drift away just before the light. So I’ll get a taste of what sleeps like But I’ll never get to experience it right. Oh you cruel, mean sleepless night! Where dwells your brother so known as the “Goodnight”?

She gazed out long and far, Past half closed curtains   And dozing, docile cars. Witness to a world double glazed Dampened by a passing rain. Sound drowned still by fragile, Stained glass pane. Skies lay grey, like every other day, Shrubs shrug and trees sadly sway. She feels for the trees, (And to an extent the shrub) They're not so different from you or I. We all plant roots, grow, love? Thoughts disturbed by a startled dove, Flew the coup, done, had enough, Rose as Icarus toward the sun. Basked in light of new found freedom. Never heard the hunters gun.

Half Closed Curtains
Spinning round a windy ledge, i kiss the cross around my neck, these fever dreams replace the likes of you. Grinning into space, alone and lost, the dampened linens lie,      as i wake up,      covered in fake love. In my den the china white, embraced my blood and laced my night, an amuse-bouche of courses left to come. The past three years I can't recall, coulda been fun, but was it worth it all, i'm a coma patient lacking an excuse. Truth, is hard to come by, You, are a stranger in my, Eyes, collude disguise.

china white amuse-bouche
We met in the rain, wet, distraught, too short a moment ot engage, to wrapped up to become enraptured, too uncomfortable for comforting. The rain created our chance meeting, then dampened our greetings.

Rain
We thought we had the vampires done, Cornered as we raised the stakes. The fiends were caught against the font, An end to this for all our sakes. How foolish to believe That the stake would push itself, How blinded must we be To think we'd help ourselves. We fell back in confusion As their eyes lit stars of blue, Our fiery brand burned red in fear But the flames sputtered out on cue. We faced the devils in their line But they withstood our empty threats, And took us off one by one; It was time to pay our debts. They laughed at our misfortune. And gave us back our forks, They pointed at our dampened brand And sent us back to work. They drank from tattooed necks And supped from elder veins, And bled the middle dry And fed upon their brains. They tore up all our rights And placed death upon a throne, Who drove out justice in the night While Liber's throat did moan. They sold us all as slaves To merchants draped in skin, Cut from children's backs As the devils slowed their spin. So now we work until we drop, Exhausted in our penury. We're fed from blood banks on each street While we think that we're still free. The vampires grin within their church And play at pious once a while, And watch with glee as all they cut Divides us up in our denial.

Blue eyed vampires
The color of those sadistic green eyes still burns in the back of my mind. The soft texture of your cheeks molded into a frown still lingers on my fingertips. And I could never forget the smile that held steady as I fell for you. Do you remember when you told me that if you were stuck on Mount Everest and could only call one person, you'd call me? I remember. Because you said you'd guarentee that you wouldn't even be there without me. These memories pierce through the cast on my heart and I'm forced to face the fact that my heart isn't healing as fast as I thought it would. My tongue tastes of morphine from the many nights of trying to forget you. More so, trying to forget that you're doing okay without me. Do you ever reminisce or has the ink in your pen forgotten my name? A toxic love, part depression part anger, a poisonous concoction, somehow so addictive. You left traces of sorrow on my skin that sinks deep to my bones and flows through my bloodstream. A bitterness so strong it shakes every muscle in my body. I could never forget the way you controlled every fiber of my being. I remember the butterflies that once danced in my stomach, but they've been replaced by a tornado. An unforgiving whirlwind of reasons why I will never be good enough for you to show remorse. I will never be worth the apology that you could never admit I deserve. You taught me how to soar, gave me wings so I could fly. Feathers made of clouds until they dampened with the tears of a solitary night. You were never sorry. Indifferent to the scars on my flesh that screamed your name, caused by the pain you brought me. You can't erase the wounds by telling me to be sorry. Seeking repentance for the blood you sought after. You found delight in my pain, a serpent attracted to my weakness. I could never forget the smile that you held steady as I fell down Mount Everest. -k.d

Have you known the winter days? Late February falls like frigid snow Merciless undertow Of evergreen and alpenglow And grey ground pavement walking Like Grocery shopping and weak chai tea Moonlengths from all family And surrounded like strawbury temptation, Late night lamp light contemplation And drowsy-dampened mornings Grey glaze of diluted boring Spattered over every orifice Charcoal eyes, platonic kiss. Pull your bow to shoot and miss Tell me all this is is what it is And I will tell you, “okay” (but you know this isn’t what I wanted) Hide the roadsigns Blur the guidelines This is how I love you Have you known the winter days? Late February fell like fire on hell And shook me from my sleep Ashes cover snow-banked heaps of rubble I slice my wrist on the sharpened stubble Of your half-assed beard (this is how I bleed my dear) This is how I bear my soul ******* smile And dominoes Carnation cults And buried bones (This is how I build your throne) Hide the gravestones Burn the rainbows This is how I love you. And have you known the winter days? Late February fallen like Lucifer to the underworld We both knew I wasn’t altogether that typeof girl But we pretended anyways Alcoholic halo haze And foreign intervention Of somewhat insidious intention And the legitimate logistical question That defined our discourse on fear (this is how I think my dear) This is how I speak my mind All that grey Those missing roadsigns Smoke and soot and Blurry guidelines And Gravestones gone And rainbows ash (and we are never coming back) This. This is how I love you.

Oh the cringing demon of eternal youth, ******* away promise and hard won truth. I see far more than *** lingering, in her eyes I see, instead, the milk teeth of youthful lies, of forever and today, hopes and screams replacing tomorrows, frayed at the seams. Oh, mere *** be gone, you sordid troll! Crawl yourself back in your hole. If ‘tis *** you brought to this trapped piece of light then speak to your own soul and leave me a bite of the apple she does not offer and the delights you think her youth will proffer. I have no time to dance to your twisted tune of youth over too fast and maturity too soon! What stinks more of your *********** her stretched, prolonged, aging youth or back bared, partial nudity? I giggle as I consider her Eve-like dreams of bitten apples and grander things. And God said, let there be light. Is that truly all He said when he banished the night? Maybe she is wet from being born. From demon Youth’s desperate grasp she is torn and into the world, for a moment, she is cashed; back bared and ready to be lashed by the ‘cruel’ reality we keep from youth… …like bronzed, baby booties and baby’s lost tooth. Maybe, coquettishly, she glances ahead, away from the bonds of youth’s birthing bed; not, as you apparently dream, toward some sordid affair you see in bared skin and strands of dampened hair! There is beauty in her eyes, it is true, the beauty of youth’s first, full faced view of tomorrow and tomorrows again… Exactly how long do you think, she should remain a youth, then? Oh the Apple that lingers past ripe upon a tree, Snakeless, Eve-less, unchosen, unbitten for an eternity. Shall we trap, virginal, in iron cages of our blind, stupid lust the false innocence of youth only tears and death can rust? Foolish, foolish Adam and blind, impregnable Eve; is *** all you can ever see? I can peer past your layers and layers and layers of false, bitter modesty. If you see *********** then know this, before you atone: You bring that demon wherever you go and it is yours and yours alone.

When Coyote witnessed the Creator making this world he thought I will make a world like that for myself And so he formed a copy of every living thing from the mud from the branches and detritus that he gathered there on the banks of the Columbia River But all of his carefully wrought figures elk and deer fish that sparkle in the shallows black bear who hides from two-leggeds the wings of the air who mingle with the leaves and branches of the forest all melted back into the mud of the riverbank at the next rain Undeterred Coyote set out on a quest He found a new country a pleasant land of vast expanse with every manner of good things When Coyote came into this country his hunger was greater than myth sharp as the edge of a knife And there he spied Crow on a high cliff with a mouth full of deer fat A plan quickly formed in the caverns of his cunning Coyote called out Chief Crow I am told that your voice is as sweet as spring water as pleasing as a woman in the night Sing for me Great Chief and I will reward you richly Crow is a vain creature and being called Chief gave him great pleasure He preened opened his silver wings to the sun and sang his rough song but in a muted tone in order to save his delicious morsel Coyote called out again Oh Chief! That wasn't much. not like the stories I have been told. Please sing your song again with feeling! Crow rose to his full height ****** his sharp beak into the air and gave full voice to his raucous song for the sake of every crow on earth We know the end of this tale because Coyote taught it to our ancestors The deer fat fell to the ground and Coyote trickster scarfed it in an instant Hunger dampened he ambled along the well-beaten path to find the next fool And that is the story of Coyote and Crow. Keep your pride in check or be the next one laid low.

Thirst
Riding the air In dark morning A steady current of rain Descends Upon everything The fir tree The house roof My dogs fur The empty Ash tree The fallen leaves Brown, red, yellow, orange The bird feeder catches the water As does the bird bath The puddles The street The cement My head My ears hear each Multitude of patterned drops In apparent chaos Reminds me of the The synapses in my brain Circuitry, each drop a connection from Dendrite to dentride Messages of the unknown Of falling to earth Of vulnerable life Unprotected. The unhoused, in the cool soaked air of December. Will you remain blessed? Will you spread your joy in the patter of rain to those who bare the rain in their skin, on their dampened clothes? Adding a chill. Will today you find some without a home Bringing tarps, blankets, source of heat, to those who listen To the same rain While they shiver And you stay in your glow with your tidy wood burning fireplace. Stay comfortable? Risk giving for giving sake. What floods of love can you share in December rather than giving to Your precious family, the left overs, the excesses And give to charity that make each day another day for breath in rain from the heavens. I choose the rain. I could be the one in The open now, soaking as I pen these words. Hoping words of love, neutrality, non-judgement and altruism be the "church" we reside in. Drop by drop. Over a hundred different sounds of rain brought to earth by gravity, in my receiving ears, and the tiny sparkles of light reflected upon the  light from the street lamp shining upon concrete saturated by this extended morning rain.

Watch me as I unwrap... passionate, In the drench of our rain..... And night falls... A silent murmur Where the heart pauses, A malachite shadow Penetrates fire, Burning A flame's fierce lick Beneath pulse... Somewhere.... His smile touches Warming the red sea of my heart Pulsating ripples, spread Soliloquies upon my skin Orated in Southern sighs... Slowly... Desire engages, ******* hardening Under tongue's brush; Moist ripe, swollen folds Tempt his lips to kiss my yielding Where breath catches, And I ... smolder within each touch... Drenched.. My scent quivers languor, Rhapsodic, Drowning pools, orchid petaled Finger parted... tender; Under sweet seduction, Stirring the supple bloom, Tasting the restless currents That throb through my milky sea... Small moans... Electric blue hangs the air.. Primal lust etching curves, Tracing dewy flesh, Heating Skin on skin, ****** scent….arousing, Tongue brushed hardness Between dampened lips... Hot.... The scorching sear... stigmata Sin licks along thighs, Essence, dripping, S W E E T Sensory overload, Breaking my binds... Feed... My appetite, I am.. lashes soft, licking thoughts No words No words... Just.... Feed the need that overwhelms, Grow inside me, Fill me once again.......

And Night Falls:
She dreamt about you last week. I nibbled on my breakfast today -- bread and a thinly sliced orange. It seemed enough at the moment, but I snapped somewhere. I let her tell me off for being unreasonable while her hands did dishes the way you taught her to. She never wastes water. She said you were both running. This morning she had tiny baby dolls dangling from her ears. Being seen doesn't bother her anymore as much as it used to, but that doesn't matter to you because you always saw her. And I'd like to think you still do. She was beautiful today. And always. She laughed softly. "Imagine her running," she said. But somehow, I could. Last week, she got a bright red alarm clock with a built-in radio. Old songs as much as possible, please -- the soundtrack of our late nights. The first night she figured out how to work it, I lay on the bed the same way you used to, one leg crossed and one arm over my eyes, laughing. Did you laugh? I can copy your laugh too, you know. She said you both knew why you were running. It's a jungle in there, and I'm not always allowed to explore. But sometimes, she lets me cross a river. Lets me through some vines. And I tell her, "Baby, I'll stand out here with my little torch and wait out the rains. I'll help you map this place out. I'm a little lost in here, but I'm not leaving until these footprints I'm following lead me right next to you." She just smiles. Did you know that your footprints are there, too? They're all over the place. She said you made it into each other's arms. I hadn't cried over you in a long, long time but that Sunday morning I drew her in close and we dampened each other's shoulders. Laughed a little. Cried some more. Got dressed. Carried on. I miss having you in my dreams too, but it was nice of you to say hello. Know that you are always welcome. Maybe next time you'll stay a bit longer. We'll have your coffee ready. Thank you. Please, come again.

In sunny solitude The swelling seas Erase the bank of haze Birds begin to sing A skylark soars in the air Purple hills of paradise No longer dampened souls Tossing and turning in the night Pearl white peaks Hypnotize across the planet The color of strength Of a rainbow myriad Green cascading canopies No longer drinking Nature’s tears away With fluorescent green Humming birds Under the turquoise sky The vintage rustic vines Are revived to a new life Rejoicing hearts Of amethysts and emeralds Are awakened from The breeze of heaven Vines whisper in awe Her sun Sky sweet bliss Fountain overflows To twilight shade Robed fields of gold Her young berries Plump and iridescent Until harvest comes She will say goodbye And again renew

Goddess
A little birdy told me, hearts and souls are mouldy, Walk with me, talk with me on this journey of doubt, You'll question people and you'll question the drought, of honesty people lie about, because It's time to scout, For people of kindness on earth, From birth, I think I've been cursed It gets worse, as I rap this verse, I'm trying to explain how life can be complicated, Because we're all intoxicated, muffled in fumes of disease and fleas that cling onto your skin, Use the energy within, and repel them this is where your journey will begin, I've been searching for a moment or a pin, point in time, When these rhymes and lines will be classed as devine, as I perfect and refine, I'm just wondering how many times I can assign the same rhyme, so all sit back with a glass of wine, whilst I intertwine every line, lyrics so evil I'm committing a crime, maybe I'll get a statue, maybe a shrine, I need to switch it up so let's all decline, but you'll remember this verse as one of a kind. Whilst I'm standing still over this hill, I think of moments in life that gave me a thrill, But I remembered the pain and I remember the chill, Of the cold dampened hearts that never seemed to spill, Love or affection, like it's protection they need during the question, should I mention, you never gave me attention, Like the worlds in one convention and I'm stood outside looking in, I grin, whilst I use these forces buried within, to show people in verse what I mean, before the planet isn't green, before the seas collapse and wind is no longer a breeze, We freeze in an ice block, tick Tock, tick Tock we stopped the clock. But no body hears me so everyone listen up, Stop what you're doing and please raise a cup, For stopping global warming and extinction of animals, because we're all valuables on this tiny spec of galaxies, Yet governments plan strategies, to profit from the tragedies, they keep us all living in fantasies, but strike in catastrophes So let's help our families and all become one, before we've got none and everything we love and everything we feel is gone, Putting a bet on the apocalypse, odds are 10 to none, So hold hands with me now let's rejoice in song!

Seeing Off Yuan the Second on a Mission to Anxi
Little girl with wide blue eyes Dreams as boundless as the skies Surrounded by dust and dead ends Waltzing in a land of make pretend Freckled, fervent and coy Twirling past the neighbor boys When she moves, she slips away Lost in a smile and a happy place Left to wander the desert dry Alone and forgotten no matter what she tries Looking for affection in an empty well Fading echoes of forgotten church bells With her reveries she swiftly dropped A leap of faith and the whole world stopped Warm blood and dampened grass, A mangled foot and a binding cast In dark days she prayed for help Wanting to step and perform Not ready to give up her last chance To take the stage by way of dance Ten years later, she's swaying and twice as stunning as before Sculpted cheekbones and brooding eyes Grabbing audiences by surprise She's reborn a star of the movies, With a new name and tiny waist Pretty young flapper with a striking face The little girl has finally found her place

A Star Is Born
Yes, But Do You Know You Deserve the World Through the sunshine and the rainbows, through the dark and stormy nights, your light shone the brightest, and whomever it touched, it lit their world. And in that light, do you know you deserve the yellow of the sunflower below? Your gleeful smile thawed the frost in the air, rushing into me and all around me— like the fresh breath of air on a winter morning, like drops of water slipping through a cracked rock, carrying beauty in an ethereal glow. And maybe you don’t see it, you changed me and the world around you. Your words carried a voice of reason, filled with warmth and understanding— sometimes childish and playful, but always fiercely protective, like the sunflower guarding its yellow. So I tell you again, your eyes shine bright like the stars above Your radiant smile took the blue out of my day, set butterflies to dance in the world’s wake Even when your cries dampened the world below, in my eyes you still appear so beautifully yellow, since the day I first saw your glow.
