One more day is fading away as we ride this bus to the city The storm is coming nearer now And your bliss will turn to tears We've almost reached our destination Countless parachutes in the sky These mosquitoes are swarming before your eyes, Just a moment's time til someone dies The skies are getting darker now Not a shard of light in this room You'd better make good choices now Or meet your impending doom I hear your steps from the other room And I'm already locked and loaded You'd better get on running now Or I'll destroy what's left of you I walk upstairs to higher ground and hear your cowardly whines, I look in the eyes of my colleague And said don't move, this **** is mine I've made my way to my snipers' nest and my eyes are set to **** I've got my sights on your head right now To pull the trigger, you know I will

I Need You In My Life
Creeping up, a silent foe, Breaking him down, nice and slow, Crushing all his hopes and dreams, Bravery fading, silent screams, Fighting on, war and peace, Just to get, a partial release, A little confidence, suddenly lost, One step forwards, the ultimate cost, Walls built, a safe distance, Hiding the world, from his existence, A man in a cave, keeping away, Building the courage, to battle today, Invisible injury, a runaway train, Mental illness, significant pain, Weakness, it's how it's percieved, Colleagues find...It hard to believe, Lack of remorse, absent support, Pushes him, to obvious thoughts, Attenion seeking, he was no more, Discovered today, by local law, Tears shed, guilt ridden hearts, Talking history, picking him apart, Realisation, lack of due care, Former colleague... Empty chair   ---- Trying to find the words to explain the poem. The message is there. Think about your actions to those you see every day. The ones that annoy you, for their quirky behaviour. There is an untold story behind each of us. Some suffer in silence, some try to seek help. Compassion and understanding is within us all. The unseen illness is a killer.

Atomic energy is a good thing contemplated the good scientist But only for us good people to forget Lincoln's, Hemingway's and Madame Curie's silent voices echoes from the sidewalk Where people idly passes by; lost in tall low fat Frappuccino’s Looking and hoping then ultimately wishing for a visit from Benjamin Franklin Unwittingly employed by all the dead presidents These days’ people know the price of everything But the value of nothing Makes me gallivant; my own memory warehouse As I pose this question towards my own psyche; What is the worst thing I have ever done? Folds, fur, creases and greases on your clothes Have you had a nice breakfast? No, no, it doesn't seem so. You've had a bad day since you've risen from your bed. Your hands are shaking and don't even notice it, Probably because of the nicotine hidden in the left pocket of your jacket. Ahh! Shut up! You were thinking! It's annoying! Get out! Get out! I need to go to my mind palace! Also, if you think that I'm a psychopath, I'm just a high-functioning sociopath. With your number! -smiles- Oh, John Watson? You've got a limp from your last war from Afghanistan. Your hand stays steady when you're suspicious or feel like you're being threatened. Hmm, you like the battlefield, don't you, John? Ahh, you can be my colleague! Come on, John! Wait, what? Who are you? The name's Sherlock Holmes and I live on 221B Baker Street. And, I'm a consulting detective who uses, The Science of Deductions

Sociopath, not psychopath.
You were my colleague Until a few weeks ago Whenever I came to office It was your presence That brought a smile to my face After the exhausting commute from my home By the dreaded Mumbai locals You were a ball of energy And I felt so comfortable with you That it was as though I was interacting with a family member We had an excellent rapport And I truly enjoyed working with you I can never forget our team lunch at Canto And of course, the grand team dinner at TOIT On both occasions, all of us had a wonderful time However, it was always you Who turned out to be the life of the party You are sweet and innocent And your laughter is so infectious That it makes us forget all our worries And live in the moment You may not be my colleague now But you are still a good friend of mine And will always be It would be great if we can catch up again soon Meanwhile, I wish you all the very best For your career as well as your personal life And last but not the least Please keep smiling, as always

Poem Dedicated To My Friend And Ex-Colleague Urvashi
She is the lady on the road. She is a mother, a sister, a colleague, a bird, a lassie, a damsel. She is the lady on the road. She spreads love and enriches kindness in the society, She is the crux of an organization, and the fundamental principles. She is the lady on the road. She twinkles with the stars and shimmers with the moon, She scampers with her pets and hops like a frog, She is not a nomad, but a faithful keeper. She is the lady on the road. She wears short skirts, She wears tight tops, She doesn't encourage the flirts, She neither abominates the leering of cops. She is the lady on the road. She holds a honourable reputation, She forms the base of ethical standards, She buries the grudges and resolves the dissension, She consolidates herself and maintains her fettle, She is the epitome of cheerful disposition. She is the lady on the road. She ignores the catcalls, She endures the torture and prevails her morale, She is a monument unshakable, and a stone unbreakable, She dumps her burdens and enlightens her destiny, She protects her dignity and negotiates with denunciation, She does no harm, but deals with it. She is the lady on the road, ..the seventh wonder of the world.

Misfit Angel , the seventh wonder.
"Don't worry, she's just a colleague and she has a husband" Here I am drowning in a pool full of my own tears, witnessing you in your birthday suit next to a woman the same woman you told me not to worry about,in your office the same office you work extra hours in everyday Here you are, comforting another man's wife, looking at the invisible clouds on the roof, laughing your lungs out, promising her the world that you still owe me forgetting my existence, feeding her ears the words my ears have been starving to hear sharing your soul with her,the soul you've always said belongs to me you're now sharing it with someone else while mine is still waiting to be fed by yours, I guess it will wait forever

Your colleague
To quote Athos from "The Three Musketeers" "You are not a woman You are a demon escaped from Hell" When I first met you as a colleague I made the mistake Of getting friendly with you When I should have ensured That our relationship was going to be strictly professional Of course, you had your own ways Of charming those whom you came in contact with That is something for which I have to give you credit Albeit grudgingly And you were an expert At playing the victim card Nevertheless, after I changed jobs I thought I had seen the last of you However, you came back into my life As unexpectedly as the recent rains in Chennai Initially, it seemed kind of sweet However, I should have realised sooner That you had certain ulterior motives Unfortunately, I got fooled by your sweet talk And started helping you financially Because you looked up to me as a brother I never doubted you in the slightest Which was probably the biggest mistake of my life You took advantage of me In the worst way possible And kept draining my bank account Your lies kept getting taller and taller And I kept believing them Because, you had me well and truly under your thumb However, even the most credulous person in the world Can develop suspicions at some stage Thus, after years of being in a psychological coma I finally managed to wake up to the harsh reality And told my family everything Of course, with the help of a dear family friend After we finally confronted you You signed a written agreement Promising to return all my money Within a certain deadline That deadline has long since passed And you have not paid even ten percent of your dues What is worse Is the fact that you are absconding And giving absolutely nonsensical reasons Which even an utter fool would find it difficult to believe You ruined my life Destroyed my happiness And shattered my self-confidence Is this the way you treat a person Whom you have addressed as "brother" Not once, not twice, but several times? I am giving you one last chance Not for your sake But for the sake of humanity You had better take it Because, if not Then you will soon find yourself in prison Again, to quote Athos "You are not a woman You are a demon escaped from Hell"

Warm, sheltered frame, tender heart Little girl delightedly arrive the world Bright and joyful, safe and secure, she believed As men bow down and pray to the She lord.  Her home filled with love and faith Brilliantly safeguarded her wholeness Curiously pondered on the world outside the home Would be bright and joyful, safe and secure As men bow down and pray to the She lord.  Stepped outside her blessed shield Got entangled in the scary ropes The beautiful world suddenly played a cruel role Whenever she ran, many watched her go Many minds, eyes, strength shackled her soul Once the safe and the secure world Became the unguarded, unheard, and unsaid hall Still, men bow down and pray to the She Lord.  Many touched her and go Play with her extant  and throw Bruised heart, wounded skin She kept herself dragging, seeking her home They failed to feel love, passion, and peace Courage and devotion dwelling within Still, men bow down and pray to the She Lord.  Men worship Lord Durga with the feel but don’t succeed to see her essence in every being Daughter, mother, wife, friend, colleague Every girl carries Durga in their will And men bow down and pray the idol She.

For Henrietta Swan Leavitt— Henrietta dark-eyed darling of the night sky-- A Swan who sails the heavens deaf with lights that pulse across your mind In photographic plates that number many thousands You see the differences in light You swim the curves that grace the arch of heaven between the cloud and pinwheel galaxies You measure their exquisite wakes of distance-- Become the glittering timepiece of the farthest stars-- Bestowed forever in your hands the clock and keys of all existence You know the bends of ages You heard the voices of the light of the angels and of man I hope you've found true happiness gathered to your love forgetful of the pond of space and time and all that hopeless pain and counting of perfection and of loneliness to which you were assigned that in your hands unravel all.... The secrets of the universe white and gray in motion... brilliant beyond all measure by which you were forgotten and unvalued by design Eulogized only-- as loving God and as being kind ___ *copyright Liz Balise 2019,  Use only by permission. For Henrietta Swan
Well now, I used to teach. I mean, I still do, but it's only for their benefit now, isn't it? It's like the doctors and the greengrocers and the streetsweepers and librarians, still going through the motions while they take recordings and what have you. I guess we should be glad that they're interested in the way we lived, you know, before they arrived. But my kids, you know, they're all actors. They might learn the odd piece of arcane knowledge but I can tell they know they don't need it. No, no, I'm no rebel I don't want any trouble. Things are better since they arrived, of course they are. I mean, their technology - we couldn't have come up with that in a million years. And they're very polite. I have a colleague who says this is because they feel guilty about their success, but I don't know about that. Things were bad for a while, but I guess maybe that was our fault. We didn't know how to react. We adjusted poorly. It's hard to accept that you're, you know, obsolete. Even me, you know. For a while there I was, well, I was drinking a little too much. It was hard, seeing the school destroyed. They've done a good job with the facsimile though. even smells the same. Yup, can't complain. Can't complain.

I'm sorry, I don't remember you, what was your name? Funny how you can't remember who I am yet you were my world at one point. An introduction wil sufice, my name is sea, yours must be moon because I'm steady drawn to you while you taunt me with your perfection. bless me with the smile I'm used to and I may give you the carress of which you've been forgetting so it may jog your memory. Do you still not recognize me? Perhaps a slight lock of the lips... Welcome back love, I've missed you far too much. If only life were as simple as the above described, maybe then I might see her. The soul of a butterfly, the heart of a pheonix, yet a love with the strength of a thousand hearts. She is my counterpart, a taboo to none but I, She.. the... god. My goddess of whom I've been missing. I welcome her with an open heart and a spacious view of her love. I get on my knees in worship of my goddess, only to thank the lord for her. My personal blessing and I shall pay homage to her every chance I get. To hold her, you can't imagine. She's the warmth of the sun, the sweetness of a black cherry, the softness of fresh picked cotton, yet ironically as cool as a glass of ice water to one parched and decrepit. I'm in love, no, yes, no. What's the conflict? Why does it matter? Am I not a the earth? Is she not a moon to me, or beter yet, an extension of my personal self? She satisfies the need for intimacy better than those before her and yet I can't think straight. Is this supposed to happen? Mutual love. What I needed, she provided like a mother and child. Yet we're still at a disconnect. She said we're romeo and juliet, did she not see the ending? or did that tell all I needed to know? I think not. She was a representation of what the heart wants, and the heart wants what it wants. Sugar brown placid beauty, rest your head once more on my shoulders as we rest in a sunset meant for the long-hall and discuss what is meant to be of our distantly close relationship. Pray we make it and kiss me goodbye, for when all is said and done no games shall we play but still bet it all against the odds. Do you remember me? Nevermind colleague, we are in a multi-verse all our own.

Adventures In Wondaland
Lo! I lament. Fallen is the sixfold Star: Slain is Asar. O twinned with me in the womb of Night! O son of my bowels to the Lord of Light! O man of mine that hast covered me From the shame of my virginity! Where art thou? Is it not Apep thy brother, The snake in my womb that am thy mother, That hath slain thee by violence girt with guile, And scattered thy limbs on the Nile? Lo! I lament. I have forged a whirling Star: I seek Asar. O Nepti, sister! Arise in the dusk From thy chamber of mystery and musk! Come with me, though weary the way, To bring back his life to the rended clay! See! are not these the hands that wove Delight, and these the arms that strove With me? And these the feet, the thighs That were lovely in mine eyes? Lo! IO lament. I gather in my car Thine head, Asar. And this -is this not the trunk he rended? But -oh! oh! oh! -the task transcended, Where is the holy idol that stood For the god of thy queen's beatitude? Here is the tent -but where is the pole? Here is the body -but where is the soul? Nepti, sister, the work is undone For lack of the needed One! Lo! I lament. There is no god so far As mine Asar! There is no hope, none, in the corpse, in the tomb. But these -what are these that war in my womb? There is vengeance and triumph at last of Maat In Ra-Hoor-Khut and in Hoor-pa-Kraat! Twins they shall rise; being twins they are one, The Lord of the Sword and the Son of the Sun! Silence, coeval colleague of the Voice, The plumes of Amoun -rejoice! Lo! I rejoice. I heal the sanguine scar Of slain Asar. I was the Past, Nature the Mother. He was the Present, Man my brother. Look to the Future, the Child -oh paean The Child that is crowned in the Lion-Aeon! The sea-dawns surge an billow and break Beneath the scourge of the Star and the Snake. To my lord I have borne in my womb deep-vaulted This babe for ever exalted.

An Awesome Colleague, You Are
We have never actually met I mean physically, of course But we've got to know each other well Over the course of six years When we had our first conversation I looked up to you, as a senior colleague In fact, I still do Especially considering the way you handle certain clients Who have given us a lot of trouble, over the years And the way you manage your work Given that you have to deal with a lot of family matters as well Is nothing short of exemplary However, you are not just my senior You are a good friend of mine too That's why I rant a lot As far as work is concerned Because I know you will listen and understand And many a time, I find That I feel much better After sharing my issues with you Of course, it works both ways I am always ready to listen When it is your turn to rant Hopefully, it is only a matter of time Before we eventually meet Nevertheless, our relationship goes on to show That it is definitely possible For two people to be good friends Without meeting each other face-to-face

I was pulling up in the car park at the Immigration Removal Centre When I realised that I'd completely f 'ed up Having remembered: - portable recording studio - condensor microphones x 2 (one of them doesn't work, dunno which one, they look the same) - dynamic microphone (sometimes works) - XLR cables x 2 (in a tangled mess) - Jack cables x 2 (joining the party) - headphones - headphone splitter (a remedy for people who are always on their phone?!) - big-to-little adapters - kettle lead (so named because it dates back from when the kettle was king) - guitar - and two folders of important bits of paper (well, at least some of it might be important) I suddenly realised that I'd forgotten the only genuinely essential thing. My passport. You can't get in without your passport. That's the rule and the rules don't bend. Security is paramount. I find my colleague, Lucky, sitting in his car. Lucky: "Kev, you aren't gonna believe this but..." He didn't need to say anymore. I knew that he had done the same thing. Lucky and I were in the same *** of s***. But for some reason they made an exception. We were lucky. It must had rubbed off. (true story)

It's always good to make friends, wherever you go After all, every new place has its set of challenges And in order to overcome them It's better to have someone at your side As they say, you don't have to do everything on your own Well, making friends may not seem all that difficult But keeping them is a different matter altogether There must be some common ground The place where you meet The company where you work The college where you study Your hobbies, passions etc. And I can go on and on However, the point is You and your friend must be compatible with each other Being an introvert, I don't have many friends However, the few I do have Can be entrusted with almost anything in the world This poem is about one of them We met as colleagues, six years ago And hit it off almost from the word go Thanks to a few common interests Such as cricket, movies, food etc. We even went to a storytelling event Where he was given a chance to take the mic And spoke about me and my passion for trains What I particularly like about him Is that he is very easygoing And rarely gets angry or upset Even when dealing with cranky clients And he had a whole lot of them Every client was a story in itself We would bond while trashing these clients Often over a cup of cutting chai Down at the cafeteria As the months sped by We grew closer Finding more and more common ground In the form of issues we faced at work Especially the frequent salary delays And non-payment of incentives We always had lunch together Except when either of us worked from home Eventually, my friend shifted to Pune But we stayed in touch on a regular basis In fact, we met on at least five occasions And continue to speak over the phone Almost on a monthly basis Even after he got married, about a year ago He, in particular, makes it a point To call me every now and then And we exchange news About our respective lives This close friend of mine is proof That you don't necessarily have to keep meeting people In order to maintain friendships Of course, it is always good to meet your friends But sometimes, all you may need If you're missing someone Is a simple phone call And in this case Our calls are usually long Long enough to ensure That we sustain our friendship, no matter what

From a young age I was claiming to see angels, aliens, elementals, sometimes god himself walking in the sun. I remember surprising my teacher at age four by explaining infinity and drawing a figure eight for her. I'm telling you these things, and other parts of my background because it all just feels necessary, if I'm to have any credibility for rational thought when I somehow find a way to explain what happened in there. It's been almost a week, I'm still jacked in the head. One thought, one memory, one feeling and all I can do is sob. I digress. My point is that I've always been a highly spiritual person. What started as a Catholic would travel through taoism, Buddhism, the Cherokee and Hopi, the Hindu.. I've learned their Kung Fu, their Asana yoga, their healing through chi. I can say with no ego or shame, I am a shaman. Christ, coming full circle, now amazes me the most. From that short line, "for through me all things are possible." It's funny, but it took all that eastern mystic learning for me to come to understand the truly timeless nature of the cross, of God, and of ourselves. I also, from age fifteen, was frequently hypnotized, and used an array of other advanced tequnique therapies meant to increase sub concsious brain hemisphere communication speeds. Remarkable stuff. From there I taught myself how to meditate and heal, and my colleague and I continued our experiments on into my early thirties. I'm writing all of this because I want you all to know what I mean when I say "I am extremely in tune with my body and often sense things intuitively."
