A man smelling of spicy after shave
tickles my nose
Josie Apr 2017
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Josie Jan 2018
City street stillness in the 1960's
Two hippies pushing a baby carriage down the street
A castle building in my vision
Playground sandbox and swings
Sun shining through the leaves
A soft summer breeze
Reliving a childhood memory
Ingrained in my brain
Attacking all my senses
When time stood still
On that perfect summer day
Josie Sep 2016
Cell phone, oh cell phone
Why won't you ring
Any job will do
I need money
To stuff in my shoe
Nobody is hiring. Sigh.
Josie Aug 2017
An August day
When the warm moist air kisses my skin
A dead leaf makes an appearance
Signaling the summer days are all but over
As the days get shorter
The napping cat stretches languorously on the deck
As the hummingbird lands on a flower
Summer slips away every hour
Josie Mar 2015
Lonely days, soft and cloudy
Lonely nights, sad and sleepy
She binges on Twinkies and whiskey
She's looking for signs of Spring
She's looking for lovers and sounds of laughter
She's looking for any old thing
To come back to life
To end winter's strife
Josie Dec 2020
Don't be shocked when
A scornful mock
Results in a block
Josie Jan 2015
Just breathe, he said
It will all work out
But I have no money or friends
and I am full of doubt

Just breathe, she said
It can't be all that bad
But why does no one want to hire me?
I hope it's not because I'm old and sad

Just breathe, he said
And drink some wine
You'll see, everything will be fine

Just breathe, in and out
It will remove all doubt

But what will I do when
the only reason for breathing
was you?
Josie Jan 2018
Slipped and fell on the ice
Broken bone
Broken dreams
Broken hope
Josie Nov 2023
A football game was the call
And I stood tall
A purse full of wishes
Landed in the ditches
Should have trusted my intuitions
On a Trailways bus
Mile after mile
Losing my inhibitions
Josie Jan 2019
Lights the dark
Gives off heat
And smells sweet
Josie Mar 10
I've been caught
In a spider's web
Guilty as charged
Josie Apr 2017
Chocolate ecstasy on my tongue is
melting my troubles away
Josie Apr 2017
I look forward to coffee and donut time
It makes me feel fine
The rain makes it sublime
Coziness is mine
And my loneliness starts to decline
Josie Oct 2016
Will it be latte, espresso, or tea
Daydream coffee drinker, that would be me
Nat King Cole on the audio
Singing about things I already know
People watch
Coffee cup lipstick blotch
Pours the cream to cool the steam
Fearing what the future will bring
I may be living on a shoesting
In a coffeehouse daydream
Things are better than what they may seem
Josie Mar 17
Is there love in a coffeehouse?
Like those silly Hallmark movies?
Coffee is love
But hides in mystery
In laptops and cell phones
In wandering eyes
And ****** musings
In the buzzing sounds of a lovely brew
To be consumed by you
Josie Dec 2020
It's dark at 4:00 p.m.
So I rush to get home
To Wuthering Heights and cardigans
While winter's darkness fills my gothic soul
And seduces me to the ways of the old
There's a sense of romance when everything is covered in snow
Josie Jan 2015
Our wires connected
Yes, I saw your glances
And, when our eyes met,
you looked away
Yes, I saw your shyness
And, your face fascinated me
but it wasn't infatuation
it was an electric connection
Josie Jan 2015
Someone told me to fake it,
but how can that be?
That is not me
I'm as real as can be
You don't know me
So, why don't you see?
Fake is not me
Not me
Josie Jan 29
Do the fates know which way it goes?
In many ways fates is a foe
Those ****** goddesses know
They pick the winners
And the losers
And those they hold in limbo
Everything is predestined
In a particular way
To what unfolds day-to-day
Fighting fate will do no good
Because everything turns out as it should

A slip on the ice can ruin your life
An injured hand
Fingers don't bend
Let's not pretend
This is a life in descend
Looking for a godsend
To unbend a hand and
A fragile life to contend

My sweet angel girl, my beloved dog,
I had to let you go
and now I am left sad and all alone
You were a Valentine's puppy, ball of white fur
Remember the summer walks we would take?
Thinking of you makes my heart ache
When I took out my car keys, I can still hear you whine
because you never wanted to say goodbye
I remember your crestfallen face when I needed to scold
Do you remember your first snow?
You didn't want to come back in the house
because you loved it so
Angels will play with you now
And little girls and boys
You will bring them much joy
And when my time is near
I only want happy barks to hear
I'm glad you are now pain free
Please wait for me, Crystal dear

Rest in peace Crystal, love you forever
Until we meet again, my best and loyal friend
I had to put my beloved 18 year old dog, Crystal (Bichon Frise), to sleep on Saturday, February 7. She had a seizure/stroke on Saturday morning. It was totally unexpected and I am still in shock that I will never see her again. To make matters worse, my dog passed away on the anniversary of my brother Dean's death on February 7. Dean passed away in 2012.

Don't look at gray clouds for answers
Dull, blurry, nondescript
They cloud the mind
With mystery and uncertainty
Here today but gone tomorrow
Like a dream lover
Josie Apr 2017
What did you do?
This site is very slow
And unfortunately
it kind of blows
Hopeful you can fix it!

Twitter says it's National Poetry Day
But no words come to me today
My inspiration will come back on another day
Josie Dec 2020
Hello Poetry
I've been away
But I am back
With more musings in my head
I've been away for a awhile.
Josie Apr 2017
Another holiday is near and
I am filled with fear
With seeing these people only a couple times a year
Makes me think the invite is insincere
Perhaps no invite this year
Then I'll just stay home, drink a beer and shed a tear

How can a Facebook rejection
hurt so much?
I wasn't looking for a lover
(maybe you were)
I was looking for a friend
Confusion at your silence
Wanted you to care, and
I came up empty
**** you, Facebook
Josie Jan 18
You are an undefined illusion
That adds to my confusion
There will be no resolution
But you cannot disguise the truth
Of your tender smile
And shining eyes
And a faraway voice
Of what could possibly go wrong?
Josie Apr 2017
Spinning a web of lies
What is your disguise?
We all have something to hide
Life left you dissatisfied?
And mortified?
Did you fall off by the wayside?
Did I hurt your pride?
Look inside
To your web of lies
Josie May 2017
I spend time alone
In my head
Thinking about things
That might have been
Win or lose?
I look within
A dreary day
Can defeat life's purpose
I choose to look beneath the surface
Everything is done on purpose
Josie Feb 17
Long distance stares
Blurry, nondescript
I've been leading you
Into an abyss
Saw your smile turn
Into a frown
When I'm around
If you look deeper
You'll see the mask I wear
Is only for you
Josie Mar 17
Love means always having to say
you're sorry
Josie Jan 2015
I still can't believe you are gone
Hard to accept it, even after so long
We didn't always get along
and when we talked,
it would always go wrong
Why did you smoke for so long?
And now I am left all alone
You are my big brother and
I loved you like no other
I will never forget how your life slipped away from you
I would take your place in an instant if I had to
You are now always with me
You will be my guide and help me see
I must now let you rest
but, without you, my world is a mess
You will always be by my side
So this is my last goodbye

Rest in peace, Dean
Miss you, big brother
My brother, Dean, passed away 2 years ago. He died of heart disease caused by smoking.

"My girlfriend"
You will never know how hearing those words
Crushed me
Josie Apr 2017
Mystery man at the library
I see how your eyes smiled at me
Wondering what your story might be and
How did you end up working in a library?
My nose in a book as you pass by me
You arise my curiosity
That awakens my sensuosity

Twitter says it's National Poetry Day
I have no words for today
Perhaps another day
My heart will have something to say
Happy National Poetry Day!
Josie Sep 2016
Hello poetry
I've been gone for a year
But I'm back to read lines of nonsense prose
And write lines of the subconscious in your ear
I haven't visited this site in a while.
Josie Apr 2017
Checkout at the grocery store
I see a penny on the floor
Old lady says don't pick it up
If it's tails, it's bad luck
I wanted to say pennies don't give out bad luck
Destiny has a way of making our lives ****
But instead I just walk away dumbstuck
I never knew a penny with tails side up was bad luck. You learn something new everyday.

Ollie the neighbor's cat peers in my window
Looking for love and a pet
On a cold autumn day
He mingles in the leaves
I wonder what tale he weaves
As he rubs on me
He believes
He owns me
Like a thief
He steals hearts
Like we are sweethearts
Ollie is a always hanging around my patio. He is a sweet cat.
Josie Feb 17
Eyes searching eyes
In a crowded room
When your smiling eyes meets mine
People disappear
And time stands still
Hypnotize me with your eyes
Craving that drug you give me
When you look at me
Nobody knows
Our secret language
Our fascination
And our fantasies never revealed
Josie Apr 2017
When all hope is lost
And your money is dwindling
And your ship is sinking
An angel sent pennies from heaven
It came as a blessing
To end my stressing
To teach me a life lesson, I reckon
Giving me a new direction
To stop the regression and
End my depression
Josie Mar 17
I dreamed of you before I met you
A faceless person
I only saw eyes on me
Puzzled eyes
Accusing eyes
Flirty eyes
Wondering eyes
Adoring eyes
Soulful eyes
Your eyes on me
Took my breath away

Only Prince would know
About daffodils in Spring
What death can bring
Plucked too soon
Blame it on the full moon
"Pills and thrills and daffodils will ****." RIP Prince.
Josie Jun 2018
Hi, I'm a raccoon
I climbed a building
To see if I can
Please don't let me land on a moving van
I inched my way to the top
Praying I don't do a belly flop
I needed to rest
So I made a window sill nest
And that seemed to relieve my stress
But I must make it to the top
Because I won't stop
I smell something good
Could it be cat food?
Please God, give me fortitude
I made it to the top
And I didn't drop
I happily ate my cat food
So this is where I conclude
Dedicated to the MP Raccoon.

Washing the earth
Helping to make the flowers burst
The earth is not cursed
Nothing is perverse
In the universe
All day rain.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and
times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long
gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Rain on my window pane
Droplets connecting into a
single chain
Drop by drop
Again and Again
Into a mellow refrain
Josie Feb 2018
Bullets ringing in my ear
Wondering if death is near
The world is collapsing
Run in fear
Until all is clear
Was it a dream?
Or was it real?
God bless the victims and their families on February 14, 2018.

I want reckless love, the deepest kind of love
The "I can't stay away from you" kind of love
The "you are my destiny" kind of love
The "sleep in and I'll make you breakfast" kind of love
The "I can read your mind" kind of love
The "I have butterflies in my stomach when you're near" kind of love
The "I only have eyes for you" kind of love
The "you have my heart and soul" kind of love
The "I can't live without you" kind of love

I want.... I want love
