Mark A. Williams                             SEPTEMBER 14, 1962 – JULY 23, 2018 ___________________________________________________________ Wow Mark, Was so, so saddened to hear this news. I haven't seen you in over ten years, but as kids, we had some amazing adventures, didn't we? Partying, camping and swimming at the Hudson lime pits. Mowing down on Pizza and pitchers of Pepsi (and as we grew up, BEER!) at Pizza Hut. (We knew the numbers to ALL the songs on that jukebox by heart!) Hanging out and looking at the stars through Budvido's telescope, listening to Doctor Demento. Laughing hysterically as we ran through Monty Python skits as everyone looked on in total puzzlement because THEY wouldn't discover them until YEARS later! Building underground forts in the North Woods. You, Budvido, Zeke and I playing pinball at 7-11 for hours and hours. Watching Bands, chasing girls and playing Foosball or Pool at the Touch of Class Teen Club. You gave me my first Imported beer . . . a Lowenbrau. I will always owe my passion for those German beers to you and it was fitting that Budvido bestowed you with that moniker. All through Jr. High, sharing a seat on the school bus. You, Matt, Tom, Buddy and I cruising around late night on our bikes for hours. Hanging around in the Jasmine Lakes sign with hijacked beer or getting free bags of Burgers from Burger Queen when they closed at night! Jousting with shopping carts on our bikes in the Winn-Dixie parking lot. Sitting up all night in Jimi's room after climbing in through the window or going on endless space cruises with him and Raymond in the Toyota. (RIP Jimi Carlsen) Sneaking into the nudest Colony and skinny dipping! Always cracking up at the school lunch table. Swimming in my pool and terrorizing my sister and her friends. (Allegedly) Trashing that crook Fast Eddie's produce stand after he refused to pay us for a full day of picking watermelons! Good times, indeed . . . Some of my most precious memories. I can only pray that you know that I wouldn't trade my youth or you in it for anything in the world and you will be sadly missed, Lowenbrau, my old friend. I hope that where you are, your beers are ice cold and that you and Jimi aren't having to glue the Hookah back together. Jeff Gaines July 28, 2018

Brandon, To see you grow up and turn into the man you are is a gift... A young man, smart, kind, thoughtful to others. I have no criticisms to offer you in regards to the path and choices you have taken and made. I feel swelling pride for you as I write this and cannot wait to see and hear the adventures you will embark on in your life. Having you as my cousin touches me and reminds me that I have an impact on the world, and for as long as you have looked up to me as your older cousin, I will always feel a sense of responsibility and caring for you, invigorating in purpose, which helps craft the home in my heart. Seeing time pass as sand in an hour glass, I can only glance in retrospect and see the years and times as a family you have shared with us; if it were a scoreboard, a test, the sum of all of your actions: a resounding win or success story on all counts. You are a gift to those around you and your happiness and caring will change this world for the better as it already has changed mine. Thank you for being my cousin, but more so for being the person you always are. You are a blessing and a light. Don't ever let anybody tell you otherwise or believe differently... To end my letter to you, I will leave you with this: I can't wait to grow old and share more time with you; to go fishing, to go camping, to carry on our family's traditions and dinners which are so special among families, to share this chance to be alive and breathing, and to share our hearts with others. Go forth Brandon. Go forth and share your love with the world. Light your torch and burn it. I love you Brandon. Your Cousin, -Kevin

I know it's just been a week But I'm already beginning to miss you And I'm not the only one You do make an impact On anyone who has been lucky enough To get to know you Whether it be family or friends Or maybe even total strangers! Anyway, we've had some great times together I shall never forget our trip to the UK And the fun we had there Especially the Wimbledon camping experience Would you have believed me then If I had told you That you would end up returning there to study In a matter of three years? Mysterious indeed, are the ways In which Fate works Our trip to USA was equally memorable Who will ever forget that iconic moment When you identified a McDonald's cafe from the plane? Nothing, absolutely nothing ever Escapes those beady eyes of yours This is one of the many things I love about you We may not spend a lot of time talking to each other But you understand me very well Perhaps more than I understand myself And I know that I can always count on you Anyway, I am getting too sentimental Have a good time out there I'm sure you'll find new friends In fact, as I write this You seem to be making progress on that front already Try to balance studies and housework as much as you can And most importantly Take care of yourself Whatever problems you might face Know that you're not alone We have your back always, no matter what It is your happiness Rather than what course you do Or what job you may find That matters to us the most So, on that note Let me wish you all the very best Take care and stay in touch Miss you loads

Saturated in steely blue clutches, sweating from the 75 degree Georgia night strung up and washed out with a serpent woman that keeps bringing on the blight Singing you a song of bliss and blinders. A big brick red boot on your neck and a green collar that reads The Gardens ***** The Garden takes the taxes tightens up the lead and never relaxes Hit ya where ya like, the pain is disguised, leather tastes like candy, The Gardens got ya hypnotized. Your late night camping sight attracts the moon light parasite, that acolyte of appetite, Tonight your the Gardens Delight You wanna run but she's got those hooks between your shoulder blades feeling like an inexorable **** of silk, smoke and skin. She gives you every thing you need, Fountain heads of intemperance and black out nights Whole streets smelling like grease and charcoal charbroils Men and women of dexterous lechery, feverous severance, and generous deference Crystals for your cranium, high altitude dives and the lowest lows. A cacophony of any entertainment you might want or need, just as long as its seedy. The Garden keeps blinders on your head to make sure you can't see anything she doesn't want you to. Try to remove em and the punishment is usually severe. She might give you the greatest loves you've ever known and turn em to photographs, blot em with LSD and trip you out on memories. And when you come back to what you think reality is she'll take those photographs and burn em up right in your face and leave you asking if any of it really happened while feeling like it was the realest thing that ever has. She'll break you and build you up, build you up and break you worse. A cycle of bad things feeling real good. The Garden will do everything in her power to keep you right here. But if you can get all those straps and tight leather off, all those hooks and chains.. If you can escape her steely blue clutches,, You'll finally see how wrong you've been done, and your still gonna want her back in some strange way.. but you might start to heal.... But know this. No matter where you might run off to, You'll still be hearing The Garden City call. That siren song of bliss and blinders.

Oh the fun we had as little six year olds, Laughing loudly and acting crazy, Staying up till the wee hours laying on the floor watching Hairspray Oh the hyper times we had as ten year olds, Sipping a little too much caffeine, Running around acting like animals in the front yard Oh the crazy times we had as twelve year olds, Not afraid to get down and ***** Camping and sliding down dirt in the ravine Oh the terrifying times we had as fourteen year olds, Living together for a whole week, Trying to **** each other with words shortly after Oh the bonding times we had as fifteen year olds, The darkest time in my life, Where we cried and I knew we would always be friends Oh the lively times we had as sixteen year olds, Both getting our licenses, Driving around everywhere just to take fun pictures Oh the tiresome times we had as seventeen year olds, Sitting in your car before school, Ranting and laughing about every aspect of life Oh the amazing times yet to come, Attending college and growing older, Still talking and ranting and laughing like every time before.

Camping Lantern
I've only been camping a handful of times and this is the first we've been in about a year and its very nice and the outdoors is very comforting. The stars in the sky shine so bright tonight, they remind me of my lovers smile. The bugs chirp and make so many noises it keeps me up, at late hours. The weather is hot and its humid so my hair sticks to my face and I sweat. I have to *** so bad but everyone is asleep and the bathrooms are unbearably disgusting. It took us almost an hour to set the tent up and we had hamburgers and hotdogs for dinner. The bonfire was warm. I can't wait to get out and go swimming in the lake later. Camping is alright.

very dumb thoughts about camping today
Where do I see you my blue eyed mum? In colours of rainbows lit up by the sun, In the chair by the window with your tea and a crossword, In the picture you drew of me when I was a young boy, In the last birthday card you were ever to send me, In the list that you gave me to help me get sorted, The photo of you holding me as a baby. The love that you showed never came with a maybe. How will I remember you my blue eyed mum? Thinking of others would name but just one, Camping with children from near and far places, Cooking meals in the kitchen for friends and for family, Changing the subject whenever you wanted, Asking me to speak louder because you could not hear me, The eggs that you bought for me every Friday, Making the dress for your youngest granddaughter. What did I learn from you my blue eyed mum? The list would be endless but here are just some, The listener learns more than the ones that are talking, Words spoken in anger may someday be regretted, Hate towards others will only consume me, The loudest voice heard may not be the wisest, Happiness cannot be measured in coins or possessions, Let beauty be seen in all colours, shapes and sizes.

My Blue Eyed Mum
I feel you, I really do. Guess what my father wasn't there too, a bunch  of substitutes but no one solid. A bunch of institutes couldn't give me solace. You'll wonder about fishing and camping trips too. You'll wonder about shaving or using a tool. You'll learn from your friends some of the above, then you'll learn on your own and feel so unloved. You'll get into trouble and a couple of fights, you're living and learning its the way of life. No worries though, I'm here to tell you, If you give it you're best they'll see the value. So don't fret my boy for I am you, keep faith stay strong and you'll make it through.-JS

̄\(o_o)/ ̄ To the fatherless ̄\(o_o)/ ̄
I grew up taking hits from my big brother, I grew up on "boys' weekend" camping trips, I grew up with my father calling me a princess but calling my brothers rock stars, I grew up watching Boy Scout meetings from the back of the room, I grew up on LEGOs and Hot Wheels and I still remember the year my brothers got Nerf guns for Christmas and I got a bracelet, I remember being shot with foam bullets and having no way to fight back, but at least I looked pretty. I remember seeing my dad leave for work every morning and wondering why my mom never did, I remember wanting to be an astronaut, but my brother told me moms have to stay home. The phrase stop being a girl is branded into my mind and I still curse myself every day for the organs I was born with. I remember the year my brothers went as zombies for Halloween and I had to go as a princess, I remember bringing a fake butcher's knife because a princess is not scary. I grew up on manhood meaning strength and manhood meaning confidence and manhood meaning respect and I still wear dresses and my dad still calls me a princess but I'll be ****** if you tell me I'm not a man.

April Camping (in brief)
a)  i am the mortar incurring blow after blow      from the abrasive quality of your negligence.       no, i am herb between pestle and mortar       the full realization of 'rock and a hard place' b)  i am the mortar between each brick you lay,      in blue collar glory, or rock star slumming,      to bind shaky corridors of past serenity      and bear indiscretions on my limestone shoulders c)  i am the mortar you fire before crawling under covers      for inexpensive *** and trashier beer      by a lake on a camping trip where tents trump love      like the queen of spades in a hand of hearts        d)  in fact, these are false, merely possibilities --      actuality: you were never enough       to make me spew homonyms in metaphor       because you were nothing like them,       always appearing changed but monotonous in meaning,       and if you're so into contraposition,       are we not but names for each other?

the final will not be multiple choice
I wish I could break Shatter into a million pieces Of sharded glass, waiting to be stepped on. Causing you to bleed wouldn't hurt me Because I would already be broken. This universe doesn't give a **** Whether we're moving Or camping out on life's sidelines. The doers, in the end Meet the same fate as the dreamers. I want you to break me. Work me until I fall apart Until I can't take it anymore. At least then I will overdose on my need for perfection Before I die of it. You can take my needle from me Before my heart stops beating. Before it turns my blue vein black. Then maybe I can stop craving Everything that hopes to **** me off.

Break Me
If I were a boy I would have so much less fear I wouldn't always have to look behind my back And be wary of who I choose to keep near I wouldn't have to be scared about being assertive When the guy who's flirting with me makes me disconcerted If I were a boy I could go out for a jog And run in a remote area I could go hiking and camping all alone And not have to worry About being ***** and murdered If I were a boy I wouldn't have to question what clothes I wear Hiding myself under layers, Because I'm scared That I'll be abused and ravaged If I'm attrative If I were a boy Reading the news about The **** and ****** of women Might not affect me as much as it does It wouldn't make me reconsider If I should go outside today, Ride my bike alone today Make sure the door is locked and the alarm is set So hopefully I can get my rest Without fearing for my life If I were a boy Maybe I wouldn't imagine What it's like to be a woman Going about her life, Suddenly attacked by a stranger, Struggling for her dignity and then her life Dying under the crushing force of hatred in her killer's eyes If I were a boy I wouldn't understand the reasons why a woman would be scared to be a woman.

Camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains was the greatest day of my life It was my birthday I brought a suitcase and my favorite dame and hiked 2 miles UP^^^^^^^^ laughing all the way UP ^^^^^in the Ozarks Medics were shooting steroids in my **** BUT, never been more in love with a man who injects grief in my veins Dwelling in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains sensed his vibe Yes, Jesus I feel you here held en el Rio Grande con mis mejor amigos drooling in the hot springs Taos has called our names ********* the rocky sand that is below me I find a coin from New Zealand, in turn, losing my evil eye earring an offering to spirit's stream a pair of desert lizards we desire to get frisky and be alone we shine silver glitter under a moonlit glow witches cackle and curanderos hide behind coyote cries and cacti looking to each other with faces expressing, "What should do we do?" I don't live here I'm only camping On this planet I didn't plan it Yet I feel the need to explain it As the plaintiff To the sheriff Imposing tariffs Money is their concern While my emotions burn They are somewhat surviving At the price of dying That's the cost of lying It makes us stop trying Only commodity buying While silently sighing And violently frying Through fruitless searches No matter what we purchase Or how much we spend The gripping grief never ends When there are no hands to lend There are no problems with these items When we willingly refuse to sight them They are from where our problems erupt For we neglectfully allow them to disrupt The connections that our hearts yearn for And our wallets burn for When we spend our emotions on inanimate objects To avoid the intangible subject Of love We're frightened of phantoms A life heightened by tandem Is not in the cards We buy for each other They don't begin to cover The way we feel They are a shield For our true emotions Objects can't evoke one Yet that's our language for expression Consumerism acts as our lethal injection

Consumerism
When you go camping, and the world lifts itself from your shoulders and the problems back home seem silly and irrelevant human life, and what you may have been trying to achieve in your leather black ergonomic chair and your dark polished wood desk seems silly and irrelevant The world is here, in the wood-pecker’s tap-tap-taping in the trees the checkered calculated lines of the water being pulled to shore by the wind, viewed from above like the birds that push themselves into the tide and float back to shore then push themselves out again. the world is here,
forgotten by the city, and the construction worker’s crack-crack-crack of the hammer the calculated system of traffic guided by flashing lights, turning signs and abrasive horns from behind the wheel
where the man sits in a satin black suit and smooth leather car seat sipping at his morning coffee, purchased for $2.25 and cradled by spring-loaded cupholders, until he reaches for the silver handle of his glass office door, and stops looking down at his brown-leather shoes that cut into the rounded bone on the side of his ankle and decides, time to go camping

When you go camping
Shaking campers And I sleep naked The man beside me Rests like a mountain Stillness calls out to him A bird -- then Darkness

Camping
Once upon a time, a long time ago There was a little boy with a grimy flow I used to hear him rap in Chicago everyday And this is what I heard him say……. He say **** like, he be like…. Ah! and I'm a *********** biter The size of the incises inside ya might surprise ya You might need rewind to decipher my cyphers Ain't nothing on this world worth more than my saliva I go so hard when I'm flowing So cold my flows frozen I'm a rowboat rowing in an open ocean And I'm hoping, to blow up with no promotion But dam, those explosions are so slow motion So, I need some honey bees to pollinate my money trees Cause fuckery of companies, accompanies that come between A couple bucks and me, turned my orange juice to Sunny-D Hide the cash for food stamps, no way i'm funded publicly I'm hungry, but not for sandwiches I'm ambitious A panhandler with gram plans and last wishes Ask for the last table scraps you can't finish Sell em back when you digest, and I repackage it Abracadabra, I'm an alchemist, my magic tricks are acting as contaminates I damage this establishment They enacted bans on urban camping If you ask them how they sleep at night the answer is Happily on mattresses
