Ghost of Me
Reese Mauro Oct 2014
Sometimes I wonder,
Should I wander?
Should I leave this world,
Should I become a ghost of my being?

Then I remember,
I already am a ghost.
My memories and feelings are existing too much
too little.
I'm living,
not living.

You Are Perfect
Reese Mauro Oct 2014
Please darling,
Eat.

Fill your stomach,
strengthen your bones.

It will do you no good if you don't eat.

For, You are perfect,
In every single minuscule way.

Please,
believe my words.

Paint Me
Reese Mauro Oct 2014
Paint me on a canvas of the most brilliant white.
Make my body of the most magnificent colors.
Paint me with the best of brushes,
the finest of paints.

Make me worth something more,
than your average human.

Stroke my face with the stillest hands.
Create my appearance and complexion with the most delicate of details.
Make my body the utmost of accurate,
please no enhancements.

Make me love myself,
make my body worth loving,
highlighting it with the most beautiful colors and shades.

Whisper Me How I Am
Reese Mauro Oct 2014
Whisper me how I am.

Tell them how I really am,
not a shell of me,
or a new body of me.

Tell my real thoughts,
my real values.

Tell how I looked under the moonlight,
when you whispered "I love you"
Right into my right ear.

Tell them how when I was down,
you came around, and held me tight.
Whispering that it would be alright.

Don't sit there and lie.

Don't tell them that I'm just another girl, because I'm not.

Please.

Whisper me how I am.

I Am Worth More
Reese Mauro Oct 2014
I am worth more than a look.

I am worth more than a glance.

I am worth, more.

I have limbs, and flesh, and blood.
I have a heart, I have a brain.

Maybe those things don't always work properly,
but I am worth more
than a sorrowful observation.

Don't you dare tell me I'm not,
because I am
worth
something.

I know I am not perfect,
but I am
worth
something
more
than a single look.

My body, my mind, my spirit are all so incredible.

I am worth more than a look.

Fire-heart
Reese Mauro Apr 2016
You are like that of a blazing ember,
bright as the sun, as temperamental,
as an uncontrollable summer fire.
The flame, the spirit, resides in your eyes.
The inferno of your golden locks burn
a home in my perishing mortal heart.
My love is so deep, I cannot return
to a time when you were not my sweetheart.
My dear, you are as wild as the sea,
as powerful as a queen on her throne,
if only you could behold what I see,
these are mere words, but it is all I own.
You are my fire-heart, my golden girl.
You are my beacon of light in the dark.

Divergent Drop
Reese Mauro Apr 2016
Many drops are in
the mysterious oceans,
the filthy lakes,
the murky rivers,
the cloudy brooks,
in the vast world.

It's hard to find a drop
that's different
in the mysterious oceans,
the filthy lakes,
the murky rivers,
the cloudy brooks,
in the vast world.

But all it takes
is one divergent drop
willing to break from
the mysterious oceans,
the filthy lakes,
the murky rivers,
the cloudy brooks,
to persuade
the drops in the
vast world into becoming
something gloriously
beautiful.

In my mind, all there is
Is knives.

They cut,
They saw,
They slaughter my mind.
The blades plague my every thought.

How do I break them?
How do I do it?
Some of my "poetry" may not be poetry.

Jacket
Reese Mauro Oct 2014
I'm looking for a jacket.
To save me from the cold.

It doesn't have to be bold,
I just don't want to be cold.

The cold is creeping inside me.
I miss what I used to be.

It bites at my skin.
I can't let it win.

Will you be my coat?

Can you save me from this cold?

Our Little Dance
Reese Mauro Nov 2016
Oh,
how your love dances for me.
A dozen roses to you the winner
Of this epic love battle.

Round and round we go,
Twirling, dipping, falling.
Nothing has felt quite as good as you.

Let's waltz together
To the steady beat of our hearts.

Good Ghosts
Reese Mauro Oct 2014
When I was little, I was taught to fear ghosts.

I was told that they were bad,
that they were the devils' work.

That they were unnatural, unhuman, and needed to be vanquished.

But I've grown to know the opposite.
The ghosts in my house are the only things keeping me from falling apart at the seams.
They keep me company, and whisper strings of hope in my ear.
I need these ghosts,
to live
and breathe
and survive.

One's name is Evelyn.
She creeps around,
she pulls the razor away,
dries my tears.

She hasn't told of how she lost her life,
but there's something in her eyes
that tells me she was the cause of her own destruction.

One's name is Patch.
Or so his nickname is.
I think I may be in love.
Is that possible?
Maybe one day, I'll join him.
Until then, I bid my time.
Idk ghosts are cool.

Screams.
I hear their screams.
The children that have not yet been plagued by society.

Laughter.
I hear their laughter.
The children that have not yet been strangled in the hand of society.

Notice.
Do you notice the pattern?
Society is killing us.

Paradox.
Life is a paradox.
I am society,
I hate society.

Change.
Let's make a change.
We must change this world.

Ruins.
This world is falling to ruins and we are doing nothing.
Absolutely nothing.

How.*
How? You may ask.
Change is nearly impossible,
for that would require the change
of human nature and that over
all is too wide to fathom.
Too wide to happen.

Awaiting Death
Reese Mauro Apr 2016
She approaches death with cool desire.
She dreams of the day that
she can fall into deaths arms,
and curl up like a cat.

Her dire wish is not to suffer
through the same day again,
and again and again.
She cannot look ahead.

Dead
Reese Mauro Oct 2014
Isn't it weird?
We find death beautiful.

The slow rotting of the leaves in the fall,
We reward old age among the elders in society.

Yet we fear death,
We fear the outcome; what will happen.

Sometimes we are annoyed with death,
at least among plant life.

We rake up the leaves,
we love them until they coat our yards,
becoming a burden.

With dead flowers,
sometimes people keep them.
Sometimes.

Other times they are thrown away,
a carcas of a beautiful life.

Dead Life
Reese Mauro Oct 2014
I live a dead life.

I'm living.
Not living.

Life is dull,
life is gray.

Life is death.
We're all going to die eventually.

We're dying now.
Our chromosomes are
breaking down as I type this.

I am young,
but I am dying.

We are living a dead life.

All
A whisper of silence is all I need,
to know all about
how you feel about me.

All it takes is one breath
and I feel like I need to rest.

All you do,
is live.

And everything you say, I want to believe.

Hard To Imagine
Reese Mauro Dec 2015
Sometimes when I look back
It's hard to imagine
What went wrong
It's hard to imagine
How you thought this was right
It's hard to imagine
How things went so bad so fast
This was written on a night of weakness, where I indulged in thinking about the past

Thinking of You
Reese Mauro Jan 2018
It's funny how I still think of you.

A certain song will come on the radio
a certain smell will be in the air
or a certain feeling will overcome me,

and I'm right back by your side.
Our love, dazzling in the TV glow.

When I think of you, I miss you.

I miss your scent
your touch
your soul.

But most of all,
I miss being loved by you.
An unaddressed letter to a love unforgotten.
