We lay in shackles
While the wood crackles
From the fire that consumes
And engrosses the world with fumes
Of desperation, and pity
A self-destructive species that thinks it’s witty
We look upon the stars
As if the world was a buried jar
With the slippery glass there’s no way out
Just an overwhelming drought
Billy would say we didn’t start it
A common answer that appears to be legit
But isn’t it our duty?
To protect this innocent raw beauty
To uphold the ideals we see fit
Or has the human race quit

Your struggles in the present, are quite often laughs for yourself in the future.
Brandon Amberger Dec 2015
Sit down and talk to a stranger
Get rid of that fear there is danger
They’ll probably make you smile
You need that once in a while
To get to know someone new
Make them part of your crew
Because diversity is very cool
Something we all learned in grade school

My mind is tangled and swirling.
As fast as light it’s hurling.
Towards ideas that are plotted.
To others, it would appear knotted
but through me, the dots are connected.
My sails are perfectly directed.
Brandon Amberger Jan 2018
We are certainly not eternal
but our ideas can be.
Brandon Amberger May 2018
We gaze at sunsets.
Fascinated by their beauty,
but we know they fade.
Brandon Amberger Dec 2015
I would like say thank you to the freaks
Thank you to those who chose the road not taken.
You are the leaders, the trendsetters.
Even with fear your curiosity was stronger.
It is them that have brought us into the future
It is the mutants that have evolved us.
Through a random mutation we are **** Sapiens
So I say thank you to the freaks
I hope I'm a freak
Brandon Amberger Dec 2015
I was hanging by a thread
That’s what they said
But look me now
an unbelievable how
It was an actual struggle
Like death wanted me to snuggle
But I broke their heart
Because I would not surrender
I am the all time great contender
Brandon Amberger Aug 2015
Just reached the summit
The adrenaline building up for the plummet
Strap in to start the cruise
Headphones in, listening to my tunes
Now scanning the powdery terrain
I’m flying like a jet engine plane
Take off on the jump
My knees take the big thump,
Up ahead, there’s the rail
The momentum gives me the power to sail
Almost busting I gain my stability
Now I got my mobility
Carving back and forth
Now at dusk I see my guide north
My ride ending to a near
I get excited for that frosty beer
Brandon Amberger Dec 2015
The dream
To be happy while you flow down the stream
Now this dream isn’t just sitting around
It’s up above on top of this monstrous Mound
And I understand I have to work
Even if it’s sometimes a knee ****
Nothing should be handed over to me
Nature obviously agrees
I want to be my best
And pass my test
The goal is to get high
Not just from that green ***** in the sky
But by natural pride
The feeling you get when you’ve really tried
You take that last advance
You’re drowned in excitement you might even dance
You feel thump-thump
Your heart filled with adrenaline just before a ski jump
You know deserve it
Because of the hours you’ve spent in the pit
Even if you lost your goal
You still gained some heart and soul
But eventually you’ll realize it’s worth the time
So you can keep up improving your prime.
Brandon Amberger Feb 2018
I exhaled, inhaled and held the air.
Did this seven times as a pair.
Attempting to calm the mind.
To think logically and kind.
Now quiet, I begin some plans.
To cheer as all the same fans.
If you think about it, it’s ironic.
You don’t have to be smart or iconic.
It begins with pride in your community.
To clean up some trash with unity.
You may ask the question, "Why?"
Possibly some pride for my last goodbye.
To hold a standard for the earth.
To give every child an equal chance at birth.
Brandon Amberger Feb 2020
There is nothing left
You achieved the greatest theft
You took my body heart and soul
I plummet down the valley in a roll
Crashing into trees and rocks
Then strapped down with secure locks
Thrown into the frigid abyss
With the emptiness of a cold kiss
I didn't think you were this cruel
I pity your enemies they're ******* fools

The Guide
As constant as the tide
Holds the light
And uses the sight
Directs us through hell
So you can catch the swell
The Guide pushes us on
Towards the next dawn
Because something awaits
That decides our fates
We’ll ***** we’ll complain
But the guide will help us cope with the pain
The Guide will get us up
Just in time to catch the bus
So we stay on track
And will never let us hold back
Brandon Amberger Jul 2019
The human voice is the most dynamic
and powerful tool ever utilized.

The Road to redemption
Is a daunting path
It’s an uphill battle
That is slippery and steep
It goes against the current
In the frigid rough rapids
With rays of blistering sun
A jagged wall of obsidian
And a sea of sand
There are no shortcuts
Only cuts, scrapes and bruises
What you did in the past will never be forgotten
But what you are remembered for will have changed.
Brandon Amberger Aug 2018
A daunting challenge.
After years Practicing.
For that one moment.
Brandon Amberger Jan 2020
My heart beat races.
From pure excitement and joy.
Of the thought of us.
Brandon Amberger Sep 2021
The wind in my sails,
carries me towards my goals.
The wind is my will.
Brandon Amberger Dec 2015
What are people doing?
What are people pursuing?
This senseless violence is sad.
I don’t give a **** if you’re mad.
I don’t care about your race
or if you’ve got a pretty face
I don’t care how much money you make,
because you could easily be fake.
You don’t have the right to oppress,
even if you’re dealing with a huge mess.
There is no reason to hurt someone
What if it was your loved one
Everyone has a duty,
to improve this innocent raw beauty.
Now trust me, it’s worth your time.
I can guarantee, it will improve your prime.
Doing some cause and affect.
You can see your method is incorrect
Just look at history, its not pretty
It’s like a scary deadly city
It’s despicable and gritty
Overpopulated with death and destruction
With no positive construction
Our society is now old
Our society should not be that cold
I'll tell you my goal
It’s to dig us out of this hole
During my lifetime
I want to begin a never ending peacetime
Where we concentrate on science and art
Where we all can have fun taking part

This is everyone's job.
Brandon Amberger Dec 2021
Those of us that dream.
Aren’t bound by history.
We go pass the stars.
Brandon Amberger Nov 2015
When I look at you
I see past the tip of the iceberg
For some reason you hide your potential
And I am truly puzzled
I know what you’re meant to be
What you have the potential to be
And it is beautiful
I pray you take a leap of faith
Because I know you will not fall
You will spread your wings
Catch the breeze and sail
Brandon Amberger Dec 2015
Tomorrow greets us with promise
Said your good friend Thomas
You asked “Why is that?”
Simple we’ll have a good chat
On top of the mountain
We’ll drink from mother earth’s natural fountain
It will be fresh, natural, and cool
A great way to keep our fuel
Then we’ll look at the stars
Point out, our brother Mars
We’ll restore and respect the beauty
Because that is our simple duty
We’ll leave and be calm
The complete utter opposite of an atomic bomb
Brandon Amberger Nov 2020
The truth is the truth.
For better or worse.
I want the truth.
I need the truth.
Brandon Amberger Aug 2015
Love an uncontrollable force
An infestation
That has no remorse
Can be that best duration
Of your blessed life
Or as piercing
As that diamond in crested knife
No sugar coating it’s fierce
But when it is right
It’s comparable to that twelfth night
Brandon Amberger Nov 2021
Twilight, it’s truly beautiful.
It’s when nature is most active.
During the changes from light to dark.
Everything is exposed.
The shaded and lit-up sides allow you to see.
What nature really looks like,
And what these beings want to look like.
You see the excitement of the nocturnal,
And the fear distress scamper of the diurnal.
We see who is truly stronger.
The ones can adapt and survive during change,
Or the ones that fail and fall into despair.
Brandon Amberger Jan 2022
A lot times it’s easier for me to be strong for others rather than myself.
Brandon Amberger Dec 2015
An atmospheric calm
In the shade under the palms
A refreshing salty sea breeze
The warm white sand of the Florida keys
Gentle waves approach the shore
Probably take a nap till four
Happy hour at five
Stunning! We all arrive
Ready to dance on the stage
We’re living up our golden age
Our feet now tire
We’ll head to the beach campfire
Brandon Amberger May 2019
To those who are gone.
We’ll carry your legacy.
To honor your life.
Brandon Amberger Nov 2017
We shall plant trees now.
So others in the future,
may sit in the shade.
Inspired by the quote "A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."
Brandon Amberger Nov 2015
Everyday we shall put on a mask
To hide the misery of doing our daily task
Instead of being ourselves we will conform
Inside lies the most violent storm
We shall hide from the truth
We have not been ourselves since our youth
We shall not enjoy the childish pleasures
Instead we’ll concentrate on meaningless treasures
When we get to that age
We’ll be disappointed and in rage
That we weren’t gutsy or brave
That we were just a pawn just a slave
offshoot from we wear the mask from Paul Laurence Dunbar
Brandon Amberger Nov 2015
When I look into my reflection
I stare at every imperfection
I appear broken, even shattered
All of me in bits and pieces scattered
From the lack of understanding and compassion
These human instincts were once in fashion
Unfortunately greediness, laziness and corruption got hold
Our society became bitter and cold
Where we have this need to conform
Too afraid to practice a passionate art form
Instead we are this predictable bleak gray
Just waiting to die and decay

So I say...
**** THAT! I'm living my life, my way!
Brandon Amberger Dec 2015
What’s going to happen when time runs out?
Will we beg for life as if there was a drought?
Every year goes quicker and quicker.
Please, please slow down the ticker.
Yes the people of my generation are young.
Yes we have we many years on this world among.
So why do the years feel like they’re slipping away.
I really just want everyone to stay
Brandon Amberger Jun 2016
See Me Without the Shadows
Judge me on my worst lows
When I had my worst day
When I went astray
Now knowing all these things
Would you be ok if I became of one the kings?
I would assume probably not
You’d think our society would rot
You fear I would do it all again
And I understand because of the pain
But what about the good
If I were to blossom into adulthood
The possibility of redemption
Would I have the right of exemption?
Do you believe that people can change
If my mind would mix up and rearrange
If I would mature and be just
I’d have to work my *** off for your trust
I’ve realized that everyone wants joy
So here, right now I’m no boy
Now I’m a mature young man
Who has one hell of a plan
Brandon Amberger Dec 2015
You, you and you
Why do you seem blue?
Must I say you’re amazing
Now trust me, I’m not the only one that is praising
You have already beaten the odds
You are alive not from the gods
But you and your strong persistent ancestry
You and them have this unique chemistry
So powerful, that you are alive during the present
Which has so much more value than every cent
Your will makes you capable
Which brings you to a fate that is inescapable
A fate that leads you to greatness
Built from a foundation of moral straightness

— The End —
