*Being alone doesn't hurt me neither does loneliness. What really hurts is realising that I should be with you right now yet we are trapped in the spokes of this absurdity, and karma just seems happy to see us worlds apart, dying of nostalgia What hurts is missing you.*

I’m not broken I’m a puzzle not to be solved I’m a bird of… Preying on rain… But the clouds elude my webs I’m the underside of an antisocial umbrella What with the moisture-averse lovers nowadays I shoo them off and twist my spokes And finally I’m no longer pretending completeness for the sake of my surroundings Because She comes clad timeless Comes with the thunder And She tastes like all or nothing

We join spokes together in a wheel, but it is the center hole that makes the wagon move. We shape clay into a *** but it is the emptiness inside that holds whatever we want. We hammer wood for a house, but it is the inner space that makes it livable. Cigarette smoke Wheels no spokes Board rollin down alleys Late night skate Let me escape The life I never planned Never on time You best lower your expectations Snortin molly in the bathroom Chuggin ***** in the hall I could be anywhere at all But I’d still crawl back to the clutches of dependence I forfeited life's race in the first lap Yet I'm still trapped Coughing up blood I strive for nothing I don't want to feel I long to be free From society Our culture has maxed out So now everyone wants to shout for help because what the world wants Is unrealistic We try to overdose And become comatose To drop all worries of material success Those Stacks on stacks on stacks Racks on racks on racks We forget its just paper Not what defines us The rest is up to the people To rise about the atmosphere Of atoms and mold supportive molecules from the elements we're presented Not corrected like a sent typo To your mom Or boss Control Is unattainable Fathom the slack of a slacker Loosen your ropes And walk the plank With no hopes of disaster nor triumph Determined To just be

Its just paper.
The air is a mill of hooks -- Questions without answer, Glittering and drunk as flies Whose kiss stings unbearably In the fetid wombs of black air under pines in summer. I remember The dead smell of sun on wood cabins, The stiffness of sails, the long salt winding sheets. Once one has seen God, what is the remedy? Once one has been seized up Without a part left over, Not a toe, not a finger, and used, Used utterly, in the sun's conflagration, the stains That lengthen from ancient cathedrals What is the remedy? The pill of the Communion tablet, The walking beside still water? Memory? Or picking up the bright pieces Of Christ in the faces of rodents, The tame flower-nibblers, the ones Whose hopes are so low they are comfortable -- The humpback in his small, washed cottage Under the spokes of the clematis. Is there no great love, only tenderness? Does the sea Remember the walker upon it? Meaning leaks from the molecules. The chimneys of the city breathe, the window sweats, The children leap in their cots. The sun blooms, it is a geranium. The heart has not stopped.

Succulent
See the Rabbi.  See him tormented by choice.  See his people.  See them wracked by hate.  See the others.  See their anger radiate outward in glowing spokes, exploding firebrand in a tinder city. On a night like any other, the moon at sixth house, fulcrum of pinwheel zodiac, the Rabbi, awash in lidless starlight, rises somber and makes his choice.  And when the sun is furthermost, he and three of his others gather at the murmuring riverbank where the brown clay is most pliable and begin to dig, sifting rock and root from trundled earth.  Hours spent exhuming the clay, molding it, kneading its muscles, tracing its veins, baking its skin in the starlight.  More hours spent in whispering prayer, the words bent and somersaulting over themselves like tumbling books. See Truth drawn on its forehead, life etched from clay and word.  As the sun rises, so it does, wavering at first, but steadier, lapping at the river, and their faces move slowly across the water.  See the Rabbi speak to it, his words winding its mechanism.  See it stride past the ghetto, wade through the market, and into the borough, siege unto its own. See the others scream for mercy from the kiln of its stare, from their flaming tenements, their crumpling rooftops. See it wade back through the market, past the ghetto, back to the riverbank to kneel in the underbrush.  See it tilt its head to the lilt of a stranded daisy caught in a vagrant gust.   See it caught, too, and see it see.  It sees the colors of Eden in the ferns.  It hears the river churning sediment, fossils, gravel, whirling over driftwood.  It touches moss on a rock; gently rotates its hand to let a grub complete an oblivious circumference.  See it sit in silence. See the Rabbi meet with the others, then his others.  And on a day like any other, when the sun is at its apogee, they slip down the riverbank where it still sits, still.  It ignores their autonomous logic, their homunculus rationale.  They are perversions of variety cloaked in righteous intention.  So it remains. See the Rabbi and his others gather at the murmuring riverbank, shadow conclave in shifting sunlight, then rise somber and decided.  They pin it to the earth as the Rabbi chants, invoking the void in which forbidden knowledge spirals.  It squirms under the power of the Word, mind-forged manacle as incantation.  See the Rabbi draw to a close.  His hand is arbiter, swooping down to smudge Truth from its forehead.  What is left but Death. See its hand crumble in its passage as it reaches for the stranded daisy.  See the colors of Eden darken in its eyes, its own body the dust that denies it light.  See it collapse into itself, the clay that was once animate spilling onto the riverbank.  See the Rabbi and his others shimmer then fade into city grey. The daisy stands still.

I envy Seas, whereon He rides
No age limit. Freedom. Strength. GREEN! Don't care if it's a hipster fad. I Loved you far before the world. Simplicity of my legs. Yet so much power behind these things. You make me throw my OCD needing to rhyme and flow completely out the window. Well... Sort of. And yeah, it bugs me that I'm now writing in complete sentences, but I don't even care anymore. I care about my bike. And the beauty that it brings to the world.

Spokes are Speaking
The 'wheel of Dharma' with eight spokes leads from the front, I bow to the Buddha's 'eightfold path' and walk forward, My love, the octopus, my 'dharma consort';  I didn't choose her myself, her eight hands passionately sought me and found , I surrendered to the possibility of abundant caresses. Her eight lithe hands, touch and tangle me, sloshing her love. A journey man I am, a humble seeker too, walking sun splashed paths, equally in love with dusky night and moon beams tender. When I am in pain and distress, any one's fate in this planet, she transforms to love eightfold and more, scented breeze at my bedside.

Squint Eyed Despair
I wish the world banana seats and ***** bars chariots of childhood transports to imaginary kingdoms erasers of boundaries freedom makers brother bonders vehicles of the delegates of peace a better way. Bolted to a heavy metal frame of metallic green with ape hanger handlebars the playing cards clothes-pinned in spokes making siren noises with our mouths rope-lashed weapons aboard discovering creeks woods forbidden backyards and never-before-known games with barn side lumber and pop cans double-dog daring inedible things teasing girls riding to secret clubhouse meetings and the playground. I wish the world our playground summers of innocence bottomless wells of laughter center of the universe June to September ages 8 to 18 bean bags and ringers tether ball - hand and paddle basketball and baseball and box hockey (where it was encouraged to give children axe handles and a softball to beat through holes in a 2 x 6 board defending a goal with their life and busted knuckles). We liked it that way. We lived as legends. I wish the world a bike ride with friends ending at the playground. For there has never been a bad day on a banana seat.

Webs and Wagon Spokes
In the early evening, a now, as man is bending over his writing table. Slowly he lifts his head; a woman appears, carrying roses. Her face floats to the surface of the mirror, marked with the green spokes of rose stems. It is a form of suffering: then always the transparent page raised to the window until its veins emerge as words finally filled with ink. And I am meant to understand what binds them together or to the gray house held firmly in place by dusk because I must enter their lives: it is spring, the pear tree filming with weak, white blossoms.

Poem
MANY ways to spell good night. Fireworks at a pier on the Fourth of July spell it with red wheels and yellow spokes. They fizz in the air, touch the water and quit. Rockets make a trajectory of gold-and-blue and then go out. Railroad trains at night spell with a smokestack mushrooming a white pillar. Steamboats turn a curve in the Mississippi crying in a baritone that crosses lowland cottonfields to a razorback hill. It is easy to spell good night. Many ways to spell good night.

Good-night
My words have just been ramblin', I left the rhyming state of mind. The ace of spades is gamblin', but the rabbit's now on time. Elevator going down, catching buses to the sound. How do I know that I am late? Time exists in spite of fate. We're racing, now, against the clock in circles, 'round the spokes. I've forgotten how the ticking tocks, for the gears have been long broke. Darlin', won't you take my hand? They're try'na pull you under and together we can leave this land, but you must know just where you stand. - This shortcut leads to trouble, but you'll get there on the double. Bad ideas, I've had a couple; my shattered thoughts within the rubble. Broken fragments of my mind, my fate's aligning just in time. To the past, I'm disinclined; looking down an uphill climb. - You're sending me a message about the faithfulness of love; the white rabbit left me breathless, I still don't know what you speak of. "I chose you, please choose me, too?" I'm running, but I don't know what to. I've fallen down the rabbit's hole, into a world without console.

Hatter's Hare
"Cash, Grass or Ass-No One Rides Free!" reads the bumper-sticker slapped on the ratty Harley. Its black leather seat is cracked, tattered and torn, the headlight is busted and there's no friggin' horn; with mismatched saddlebags strapped to each side, the panhead leaks like a sieve, but it's still quite a ride. The gas-tank is dented, scratched and coated with muck, the chrome no longer shines, but who gives a flyin' **** Its tires are bald, the spokes are all rusted to **** and the frame is off-kilter from a cage-driver's hit. The biker just puffed the last hit from his pipe, slammed down the rest of the J.D. from the bash last night; then he hops on his hog, kicks the monster to start, the muffler-pipes blast flames and roar like a **** Together they roll down the road like old pals,' with nowhere to go, just obnoxious and loud: the tombstone tail-light flashes bright red on this mess, 'though Cashless, Grassless and Assless, they couldn't care less!

Cashless, Grassless and Assless
So gradual in those summers was the going of the age it seemed that the long days setting out when the stars faded over the mountains were not leaving us even as the birds woke in full song and the dew glittered in the webs it appeared then that the clear morning opening into the sky was something of ours to have and keep and that the brightness we could not touch and the air we could not hold had come to be there all the time for us and would never be gone and that the axle we did not hear was not turning when the ancient car coughed in the roofer's barn and rolled out echoing first thing into the lane and the only tractor in the village rumbled and went into its rusty mutterings before heading out of its lean-to into the cow pats and the shadow of the lime tree we did not see that the swallows flashing and the sparks of their cries were fast in the spokes of the hollow wheel that was turning and turning us taking us all away as one with the tires of the baker's van where the wheels of bread were stacked like days in calendars coming and going all at once we did not hear the rim of the hour in whatever we were saying or touching all day we thought it was there and would stay it was only as the afternoon lengthened on its dial and the shadows reached out farther and farther from everything that we began to listen for what might be escaping us and we heard high voices ringing the village at sundown calling their animals home and then the bats after dark and the silence on its road
