Fly, light, like a dancer,
spin, stop and ask
but there is no answer

Jump, dip, scream your question,
welcome your sentence
of death at confession

bad things.
good things.
what are those?
everyone is both,
so no one f*cking knows.
Moral is something we decide.
Amanda Kay Burke Apr 2020
A mere phantom roaming Earth with no apparent direction
Miserably yelling
Yearning for connection

Tossed to and fro
Invisible waves
Into the depths of echoing caves

Not knowing why life I was given is cursed
Dangerous
Yet still I plummet headfirst

I do not know why the path I walk is not straight
Crooked for so long I think it may be too late

I hear cries
Loved ones pleading me to turn around
From so far I can barely make out the sound

I shout back to them
Am suddenly mute
Voice inaudible
Or at the most
Minute

My sore throat finding solace in silent surrender
Healing with a touch so tender

Stop a second to catch my breath
Look into water and my eyes glimpse death
Kinda just a poetic self portrait

Stop with 'you better come here now'
Stop with the 'who what when where and how'
Don't bother trying to break this vow
I think it's fin'ly time for you to take your bow

You haven't said a word
Yet I can still hear your voices
Wrapping round my world
No, I've got no more choices
But to do what you say
Coz I fear the pain is never gonna go away
Haven't written in a while so I'm a little rusty. How is everyone doing in isolation?
Zack Ripley Jan 2020
congratulations. you made it through today.
that's something not everyone got a chance to say.
tomorrow, I hope you stop staying silent
just because the words keep getting lost along the way.
but for now, congratulations. you made it through another day.

You better stop it
Something unexpected
Might just end up injuring you
A press in a step
A footprint permanently stained
Might just end up with things railing off
You better stop it
Look what you’re doing to me
My drive is alluding your well being
You’re on my ***
Ready to backstab me
I’m not driving for revenge
You better rearrange your lane
Because if you don’t I’ll check you
You better stop it
Driving me crazy

Spending life pacing, ain't no way for a man live,
placing moments and events that should have been
a lone gift,
Is peace really an option? will the world take people as they are
without this mixed concoction?
a world I would have envisioned as a child, when I was oblivious,
when people were still tricked in society but still civil and they wasn't
envious,
i see the faces and what use to be,
please don't get use to me
but in my heart...

I'm stronger than what ignorant ******* think,
weak is not in my vocabulary , I do not lip sync,
thats code for lies , when they despise and try to break
my image like a pack lions killing a lucky zebra thats a lucky libra,
but didn't get to live out his life and achieve none ,so it would have been
a circle of life that was meaningless in an ongoing loop of
certainty that it would be reborn into human that might be me,
I am infinite lil' ***** , you can not stop me.

..but in my heart, I will survive, I'll make my mark,
I will not die.

I just feel so small and everything else is so huge and it keeps piling up on me, smothering me, until all I can see and breath is this wall of musts and responsibility and endless tasks and emotions that won't stop pressing up in my throat and I can't cry, I just don't take the time to do it, everything else is too demanding that I can't even do that, and I don't remember anymore how to relax my shoulder or unclench my jaw and I just can't see any pause ahead, no oasis of breathing deeply again in the near future, no space for just me to be.

It's time to stop your wails
Your shrieks and your tales
Of this wretched virus here
Do other things please my dear
This site is plagued by these words
"Coronavirus! Covid-19!"
God, how long has it even been?

I understand that lives are lost
But it will end whatever the cost
So stop writing about it here
There are other places
For these lifeless "poems"
In all honesty I'm just fed up with the amount of covid-19 related poems that I see growing like tumors on this site, I've come here to have a break from the news not to get more insight to what's on it. These are the reason good poems barely show up on the front page nowadays - they get flung aside by the endless waves of non poems and coronavirus related ones.

don't stop the birds
from flight

  or the trees from
  touching the sky

don't stop the
ladybugs from
eating aphids

   or the anole lizards
   from changing colors

don't stop the
whales from
migrating oceans

   or the caterpillars
   from emerging
   as monarchs

don't stop the
wildflowers from
blooming beauty

    or the moon for
    waxing her sphere

don't stop the
earth from turning

   or my heart from
   beating and listening
   to the sublime

and especially

don't stop the poets
from spreading
their ink everywhere!
When at church man is on his knees
to adore the Most High,
he takes the right pride in the rite.

When a prince eyes men gathered like bees
Under his knees, paying respect, eyes towards the sky,
it’s satisfaction of the might.

When the world is put on its knees
by a micro-seen thing, miles smaller than a fly,
the wild creatures find it a knight!

Like a bike without wheels
men lose the move and sigh,
stay agape, and start to fight

the quasi-nil.
And they try,
all on their knees.

It defies, and it makes their lungs its meals!
It defies, personal success becomes a pie in the sky!
It defies, and it continues to bite!

It won’t hide in the hills.
Like their sins, in their hide it does lie
and the challenge calls them to unite.

In the threats there are good fate’s seals
that a good fighter won’t let pass by:
love, humanity and good sight.
This poem aims to reminding people, regardless their social situation, that they need to unite more than ever. We need to love each other and protect each other. Together we will defeat #CoronaVirus and COVID-19.
