Little Wolf
PaperclipPoems Dec 2015
Little wolf, let me tell you something. The world is an imperfect place. It is violent and cruel. You will not learn from me and my lessons, little wolf, you will learn from your own. And I could shelter you and smother you, and yet you will still learn the worst of the world.

You will love and you will be loved. You will run and you will collapse. You will hurt and others will follow you because of your bright light. That same light will attract others who want to put out your flame. But I tell you now, little wolf, they cannot. They cannot burry your soul and quit your howl. The moon will always be yours and you will always be the symbol of love and strength

PaperclipPoems Dec 2015
A pretty face can carry you far
But when the beauty is gone
They will move on

And even though your heart is made of gold
They will see no value
Because they are always looking for the next best you.
Thought this was relevant to the corporate world and also in relationships sometimes.

Begging Tumble Weed
PaperclipPoems Dec 2015
He walks with himself
He is his own best company.
He pushes forward and you often do not notice
You ignore his plead but you see him wander
A breathing tumble ****.
Shrubbish, wobbly, and *****
He zig zags through the crowd
Sometimes he screams and he too cries
Just like you
Sometimes he trembles in the night
Just like you
Sometimes he dreams of better days
Just like you.
A brief and scattered poem about a homeless man I encountered.

Position of Power
PaperclipPoems Dec 2015
I see beauty in you,
Through your kindness.

Where the rest of the world may only see a man
I see a savior.
I see passion and strength.

I see you and I feel love.
I feel that the human race may have a real chance at survival and our world may be saved.

Your voice echoes through my mind and ripples through my veins.
I listen to you because I believe in you.
I believe in what you stand for.

I wish to be nowhere else but here, with you.
My thoughts of him.

Wild One
PaperclipPoems Dec 2015
There was something wild in her
Something corrupted
Something destructive
I often wondered if there was a fighter plane
soaring high in her skies
Fighting to defend something precious.

There was something wild in her
Something loud
Something overwhelming
I observed her in her calmest state and watched
as she demanded power from the others
But in the most manipulative way,
where you would never know it was a command.

There was something wild in her
Something loving
Something passionate
I was blessed to lay with her from time to time.
I wanted her heart for all of these reasons,
But she was too wild for anyone.
It just came to me..

Happy Dance
PaperclipPoems Dec 2015
I've got a moment to myself
And a clear mind for once when I write
All negativity aside
Wow, you know- for once I feel alive.
No more cloggy sentences
Filled with emotions I can't explain
No more cloudy rain clouds causing
Muddy puddles in my brain
I've had enough of "I can't take this"
No more depresso shots in my coffee
I woke up this morning and realized
I deserve to be happy.

Government Intelligence
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
I analyzed you. Sitting across from me at that coffee table. I knew your thoughts as your eyes were indulged in that morning paper. I know more than what those reports share with you. I watched you, but you didn't know that. I saw the fear in your eyes and watched your hands tremble. In that moment you let go of me, but I still had you. We had each other... And no matter what the world crumbles to, I've got you.
I'm afraid to be in public.  I'm afraid to take my daughter to school. I'm afraid to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Can't take a plane, can't go to a football game. I'm afraid to get a phone call saying that the man I care for has died, working his regular hours at his authoritative job at the airport and everyone else will be able to get up and move on with their day and I'm afraid I will be stuck in time.

Foolish
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
I don't know how much more of this I can take
You relentlessly push and you shove and you bend me until I break.
Darling, I'm about to snap. So if I do, I suggest you wave farewell
You better believe that I will drag you with me down to hell.
I've let you walk through this break up squeaky clean and vandalize my name
I've heard your lies about me that have circled back around and they all sound so insane.
I try to play nice with you and give you some kind of credit
I've felt so bad for you up until this point and I've really just had it!
Say whatever you want about me to everyone if that's how you sleep better at night
Because at the end of the day I'm still doing just fine.
I don't need to trash your name or embarrass you, like you've tried to do me
You make yourself look foolish enough, you don't need my help baby.

North Carolina
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
If I could lay in silence all night
This would be the place
In the middle of North Carolina
With the moonlight shining upon my face.

Listening to the trees talk their secrets
And the stars shining so bright
Yes, if I could have it my way
I would be out here every night.

I would clear my mind and pack a bag
Kiss my dad goodbye on the cheek
For tomorrow he will return to California
And you will find me dancing amongst the leaves.

Next to the river along a county road
Under the willow tree
Yes, if I could have it my way
This is where I'd always be.

Always Present
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
There was a certain shade of blue
That I happened to only find in you
A certain song I would often hear
That now lets me know that you are near

Neither sad nor joyous
You seem to love and embrace us
A memory so faint and all so clear
I see you in my dreams and sense you're near

In darkness I fear not
For, by my side you have a spot
A watchful eye, an attentive ear
Present or not, I still know you are near.

Fear of Men
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
So much hurt, so much pain
You'd never know it by just a glance
You'd never feel her timid fear of you
While you shake her hand.

You'd never know she was touched and abused
By the smile she gives you
And you'd never think twice about her innocence
Because of the way she moves you.

You'd never know of her fear of men
Because she seems so bold
But appearances can be misleading and
Her eyes do not tell the story of her soul.

Alone deep inside
She sits by the river and she wonders
Where her heart and soul have ran off to
And why they left without her.

Lioness
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
You fantasized about her
She was the lion that you could not control
She was the bright fire in the distance
That you craved to behold

You wanted nothing and nobody above her
You extended your dark hands in her direction
You charmed her and tricked her
But I'm sure you have since learned your lesson

You desired to cage natures beauty
You stripped her voice and bound her ankles
You danced & raved "You're mine. You belong to me"!
Then you placed her in shackles

Little did you know then,
As you beat her and starved her hunger
That she was the strongest of the pack
A natural born hunter

You caged a lioness
But don't you know you can't cage a soul?
She may have appeared as a weak one for a while
But you had never caged another like her before

Careless and shallow you were
You beat her until she broke
But all you did was bring out the killer in her
She broke through your chains and sliced your throat.

Unknown Friend
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
I read your poems and I feel as if I know you
As if I have known you for your entire life
As if I have witnessed every smile and tear in the night
Every nightmare that causes your fright
I read your poems and I feel as if I know you.

I read your poems and I feel like you trust me
Like I am your dearest friend and you confide only in me
So close we are, you tell me every thing
I read your poems and I feel like you trust me.

I read your poems in silence and I have forgotten where I am
Line after line I nod my head because I understand
I read about you and where it all began
I put you down and pick you up to read in silence and am lost once again.
We can all relate. It's crazy how you can follow someone and read about them and feel as if you know them better than some people you've spent years with. We share our deepest thoughts and feelings together without fear, yet sometimes we cannot even share these things with our closest friends and family.

Lost Cowboys
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
Those brothers were Cowboys
Fallen angels with bad intentions
Tag teaming every robbery in the west
They were destined to be legends

Lost souls catching midnight trains
Riding away with the wind
They'd steal your heart in a moment
Never to be seen again

She loved them both in different ways
They loved her each in their own
Even after those many women and years later
She remained the only love they'd ever known

They'd talk of her often next to the fire
In a new town late at night
Sharing the memories of the love she gave
Hoping one day they may reunite

Nothing
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
Tears are worthless
What will they get me?
I'll still feel the pain
I'll still remain empty.
I'll still wake up in this place
I'll still have these memories
So just tell me please,
Where will crying get me?

I'll still be the same person
That you always have seen
It will have no life changing effect
On the person that I will be.
The process of crying
Won't make me happy
And the sorrow will return
It always does eventually.

So it seems as though
Your release is a useless hobby
That isn't very helpful
In maintaining reality.
So if you know the answer
Then you can resolve my questioning
Tears are worthless
What will crying gain me?

Your Lethal Hands
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
Those hands that would wrap around my neck and make me think I could break in half
The same hands that would ball up and knock me to the ground
The same hands that you would apologize with late at night in our bed
Those beautiful hands that I fell in love with on our first date because they held me like I had never felt before
The same hands that absorbed so many of my salty tears
Those creative hands that drew me such amazing images that inspired my many writings
Those lying hands that would dishonestly touch another woman and never leave a trace
Your hands, they ripped this fragile heart of mine into pieces and you told them to do it all

This pattern... These signs,
I've seen them before
Didn't I JUST go through this
Twice before?
Didn't I JUST leave someone
Who was exactly the same
And I told myself I wouldn't ever
Let myself fall again for that game...
Didn't I just become single?
And didn't I cry on my pillow for weeks?
Because I turned out to be less to someone else
Than what he was to me...
And didn't I just pick myself back up
And for what? To fall again?
Girl, get you're head on straight-
You're way better than these men!
They play these games with your head
And they will do nothing but burn you
You tell yourself each one of them is different
But that has yet to be true.
You give them chance after chance
And they take you for granted
They misuse your kindness and your love and
Chasing after their truth leaves you distracted.
You don't need another heart break right now
Leave this guy fast!
You will regret it if you don't
Just like the last.

Unbury Me
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
What if I told you the pain was heavier than the pleasure

Would you still find a gem in my soul to treasure?

If I told you I feel darkness within me when I wake

Would you still choose me every day?

If the blood that ran through my veins was cold and could freeze you

Would you still hold me as tight as you do?

If I pushed you away and got lost in time

Would you find me and save me from my own mind?

Surrender
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
I'm feeling in tune with myself
Hand me a pen
Let it write away my deepest apologies
And confess all my sins.

Let this black ink stir rhythm
And sing to your soul
Dropping you to your knees
Forfeiting your control.

It's curving and twisting
All around this notepad
Telling you things about myself
That I never would have said.

Just Friends
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
They agreed they weren't looking for love
He was new here and she is finally single
Each at a point in their life
Where they just want to have fun and mingle.

Conversations grew deeper and days passed fast
He started to hold her hand
Nothing was established at this time
But she started to see him as more than a friend.

Intimacy grew between them quick
They formed a bond and she held on to him tight
He could see that her feelings were strong for him so he said to her
"You know we're just friends right"?

Her heart was crushed and she felt so used
But she held back those lonesome tears
They drifted apart from one another after that
But reconnected again after several years.

Warm welcomes and friendly smiles
He said he'd like to catch up more soon
She agreed and he was eager to suggest
The following day around noon

Hours were spent once again together
And they caught up on old and new
She would laugh and he would smile
He said "Wow, do you know that I've missed you"?

Intimacy between them once again arose
They loved each other under the sheets all night
Until one day she could sense he wanted more
So she said "You know we're just friends, right"?

I am Mine
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
Everybody seems to know what they want from me
and yet I don't know what I want for myself
People expect me to be able to deal with anything
They throw their problems upon my shelf.
I'm expected to forgive and let go
Get up and move forward
Endure the worst from others
And always have a helping hand to offer.
I think I just want to be left alone
I have nothing left to give to anyone
No compassion left in this body of mine
I don't want to be asked for a dime or an opinion.

Tell Me About Yourself
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
I write poetry when I'm feeling broken
I listen to piano music when I fall asleep
I'm a great listener and I love to laugh,
My loyalty and love runs deep.
My daughter is my world and my light
I worry about her getting older and having resentment towards me
So every move that I make I think three times over
My wish every morning is to see her happy.
I like long walks underneath the stars
I hate the beach and love the rain
My favorite studies are science and literature
I prefer coffee over champagne.
I enjoy all types of movies and music
I like to be diversified
My past is a heavy weight on my shoulders
My memory nightmares often wake me in a fright.
I'm a deep thinker and a hard worker
I hold grudges and at the same time forgive
I love romance novels and hot weather
I believe that every breath taken is a gift.
I'm religious but my faith is unique
I'm Catholic but it's not so traditional
I make wishes instead of prayers
I'm also quite political.

His Reply
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
He said "Yea, you know you're right.
You cross my mind and I think of you
While I'm at work and when I'm on the road
And sometimes I dream of you too.

But you really need to relax with all of these poems you write of me
Get a grip, it wasn't that serious
You've even said it was mostly a physical attraction
And I honestly think you've become a little delirious.

You change your mind so much it's unbearable
You write about me every day
I only come on here to make sure you haven't completely lost it
And of course to see what you think of me today.

It really is flattering, you know
To read how torn apart you are from me
And how you feel like you can't move on sometimes
Because I really didn't do much of anything.

You want an apology and a confession
But you won't get it and that's what kills you
You want a dude to keep running back
Only because that's what you're used to.

But I have way too much pride for that ****
And you already know that I've moved on!
I moved on before we ended our little affair
And that's why I haven't called since you've been gone.

You don't feel ****, *****. Let's be honest
Well at least, I know it's not me you're feeling
Stop wasting your time with all of these sad rhymes
It's irritating that I read them and feel like I owe you my pitty".

I'm Not The Only One
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
You haven't said one word to me
But truth is, you don't need to
I know I'm not the only one between us that's suffering
If you're reading this, then I know that's true.

I know I'm not the only one between us
That wonders what the other is up to
And when life get hard and nights get lonely
I know I'm not the only one who wishes I was with you.

I can't be the last one standing at the end of all this
Who is the only one feeling this pain
And if by chance you're reading this tonight
Well then now you know I feel the same.

I know you think you're doing me a favor
By staying away and never calling
I know you think I hate you and I'm angry
But truthfully, I just wish I could hear you say you're sorry.

I know you go about your days the same
And that I often cross your mind
The only reason why I know that's so true
Is because I can feel you thinking of me when your on mine.

It's crazy, I know. It sounds insane
But I know I just can't be the only one
I know I play it off like I'm fine every day
But really, I know neither one of us have moved on.

**** it, if you weren't so stupid
I could have stayed right there with you
I would be with you right now, wrapped in your arms
Instead of writing these poems like I always do.

PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
I slipped and you caught me.
You're holding on to me so tight.
You have both of my hands in yours.
Im hanging off the edge of a cliff and I'm trusting you to pull me up.

But you don't.

You tied rope around my wrists as I stared into your eyes but I saw nobody there in you.
My wrists are burning and I'm too scared to move for if I do I might fall into an abyss.

So I stay. I have no choice.
You left for days. You would come back to check on me. To make sure I was still alive.

As long as I'm breathing, I'm yours.

Weeks went by and I realized I'd rather die than be yours.

So I let go.
In that moment, I saved myself.

Why Do You Do That?
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
You say "I love you"
Because that's what my necklace says
And you just read it to me.

You say "I love you"
When you're drunk with your arms around me
And we wander the streets at night.

You say "I love you"
With laughter in your voice
When I make you laugh until it hurts.

You say "I love you"
When you confess your secrets to me
And I am here to listen and help you through what you're feeling.

Why do you do that to me?

Lifted
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
She fell.
    And she fell.
            And she fell

And each time she fell, it became harder and harder to stand back up.
But somehow she did. Each time.

And then one day she was carried.

She was lifted off the ground and was no longer in pain.
She was no longer worried about healing.
She saw new lights and could touch the clouds.
She felt love growing and it did not burn.

It was not jealous or boastful.
It was not envious or overbearing.
It was pure.
It was modest.
It was better than a gift because it was a seed. She had to make it something special and it was not instant gratification.
And she didn't realize this at first. But she has realized it now since the last time she fell and that is all that matters now.

No you can't stay
Get the **** out
I called you to come over for a quick session
And now I'm done, so your time is out.

What do you mean you're feeling tired?
You have to go, you need to leave
Yes I'm serious, get the **** out
You've done all you can for me.

I don't want your company,
I don't want to cuddle
Thanks for being my midnight squeeze
You can leave your number on the table.

I doubt I'll call
Don't ask me personal questions
Don't walk away feeling more than
The bare essential intentions.

I told you what this was in the beginning
I have no room for your feelings
I don't know that you expected from this
But it really did have NO meaning
Is this real life....? Did this really just happen....?

PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
Let me tell you how I see this now
If you make no changes and decide to stand your ground
If you never open up and believe that I will leave
One day I promise what you fear, it shall be.
You don't want to cut ties with women in your past,
For just in case we don't work, you have a backup plan..
But these past women will keep interfering with us even if you choose to ignore,
Because I can't overlook the fact that you have one foot in and the other out the door.
You said you've been here before and you don't see how this will last
So eager you are to say goodbye, I wish you'd slow down before we crash
I can't help you see what I see, you don't feel what I do
I didn't want to do this, but now I have to let go of you.

PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
I regret turning on this movie
I have to walk away
I can't watch her suffer his cruelty,
I can't watch her endure ****.
His abuse and her torture
I feel goosebumps and I cringe
I leave the room before I *****
Because I hate being reminded of him.
All these years later
You would think I'd be fine
But I'm not, and I can't stand it
The experience lingers in my mind.
I hate that to this day, I still flinch at night
And I yell in my sleep
I hate that I can't talk about it with anyone
Because I don't want to be seen differently.
I ******* hate being reminded of you
Showers and rhymes don't make me feel better or clean
I hate that I blame myself so harshly for that night
But I let myself down; I was the only one who could have saved me.
This is a really sensitive topic for me and I hate talking about it but this movie is a huge trigger. I really hate talking about this.

You Don't Know Me Anymore
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
I'm fighting to stay a decent girl
And you're just fighting to keep me,
I've torn myself to pieces up and down this house,
Trying to remember who I used to be.
Your holding on so tightly,
To a dream that I once wanted,
A dream that left me long ago,
That now just leaves me haunted.
You and me, in love forever
Surrounded by life so simple,
This dream that I held so dearly
Turned out to be so fickle.
You were reckless with my heart
And that dream quickly shattered,
I think just to keep me sane
I pretended it didn't matter...
That girl who felt deep love is gone
But I want her back so desperately,
Do you think that if I call her
She will come back to help me?
When she left she took that dream
And what was left over of my love,
She left me as an empty shell
Only to remember who I was.
She left us here together
Maybe she thought I would just follow..
Every day I sit here and pray
That she may come back to me tomorrow

The Moon Knows You Are Mine
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
I laid there with you
And we watched your phone ring
Time after time
These girls kept calling

We laid there all night
And we counted the stars
But each time we got to ten
We had to start over

Because these girls kept interrupting
Don't they know your mine at night?
They can have you tomorrow
When the moon fades away and gives permission to the light

Under the moon your kisses are mine
They must wait their turn
I have stolen your heart, therefore you give me your nights
Their place, they must earn.

Nice Knowing You
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
Hold my hand while we fall
Kiss me until we break
Whisper sweet things in my ear
Until we meet our future fate.
Love me today
Remember me tomorrow
When the day comes for me to walk away
Let me go and do not follow.
Turn away and don't look back
Our paths do not combine..
We were toys to the gods,
You were never meant to be mine.
We met at a crossroads,
In the middle of an X,
It's written in the stars
That you eventually go right, and I go left.
Truth is I don't trust you
But you must know that already,
With so little that you know,
How can you say you love me?
I see deceit in your eyes
I foresee nothing but pain
You're a womanizer and a heartbreaker
I see right through your habitual game.

Gone Girl
PaperclipPoems Nov 2015
I crumble in your lap
I fall to pieces within your sentences
Dropping every guard
Surrendering to you completely

But you have no idea
Because all of this is internal
And you can't see it
Because I won't let it show
And you can't feel it
Because I don't want you to know

I don't trust me with you
I would fall too hard
Too fast
And maybe never recover

So I silently go through the motion
I'm lifted, on cloud 9 with you
Silently drifting away to another place
While we lay here
Watching bar rescue
And you hold me like I'm never leaving you

Until I need to leave you
I say I'll see you again
But who knows,
Maybe I won't.

Jaded
PaperclipPoems Oct 2015
What do you want from me?
I don't know what you're trying to prove
That you're some charming guy from the coast on the east
Or that you can make me fall in love with you?
The things you say and the way you move
I know it's intentional and you look out for you
This friendship that we have now I know it won't last
I want to start over with you while you try to pick up from the past
I should probably walk away while I still can
After all, what do I expect? You are just a man
I want to trust your words and see the good in you
But all I see is past brokenness that I've been dragged through
Putting this all into words shows me a girl who is nothing but jaded
You don't want to get to know me now, the girl you knew before has faded.

Tanya
PaperclipPoems Oct 2015
Write about me she said,
Write me a poem and tell it to the stars,
Talk about my talents,
Or confess my many scars.
But her beauty could not be captured,
By any photo or ball point pen,
And no length of poetic summaries could ever,
Express the fire that she holds within.
Even Venus, she is envious of her,
As she walks this earth with grace,
A fallen angel from the heavens above,
To know her soul is to know real strength.
She twirls her arms above her head,
As she dances down the street,
Twisting and turning away with the wind,
With the prettiest smile you ever did see.
She needs nothing from you, and she takes nothing more,
She comes and goes softly with poise,
With all of the beauty she possesses she still is so compassionate,
Because that is who she is by choice.

Unfinished
PaperclipPoems Oct 2015
Line after Line
Note after Note
If I have one more thought of you tonight
I literally just might choke

Time after Time
Day after Day
I write these verses down on scratch paper, yet
**I can never say what I mean to say

Taking Care of My Mind
PaperclipPoems Oct 2015
I'm wearing your favorite color today
You know, that one you said always looked best on me
I curled my hair just the way you like
Spent extra time on my makeup and whitened my teeth
I painted my finger nails and did a dance in the mirror
Before I left the house
Listened to all those old tunes we used to sing together
Knowing I won't see you around
I'm wearing your favorite smile today
That one that lights my eyes green
And while I'm thinking about everything except you
I hope your stuck thinking about all of these things on me.

You Do Not Own Me
PaperclipPoems Oct 2015
You don't own me
I am not one of your possessions you left at your mamas house
Something you grew apart from as you aged, yet still think about often and sometimes even go back for

You don't own me
I can't be used at your disposal during convenience
Like a tool to fix your brokenness and when completed you put me in a box to come back to later

You don't own me
My words are my own and I can't be corrected.
I am not a college paper to be reviewed and scored
My actions are mine and your opinion is irrelevant
