Clandestine Love
K Balachandran Dec 2015
When she opens the door partly
without any noise heard,outside
to let him in and close it again
the lovelorn moon gets jealous
a still cloud transforms in to an
eager ******, shameless and stares.

The smell of danger present in the air
heighten the thrill of them not being
just another regular pair of lovers
who could  easily meet, when they wish.
Such secretiveness adds a spicy flavour
to their forbidden love that stealthily moves,
to deceive the spying eyes everywhere.

When she opens the door to let him out,
a snow owl, startled, wakes up and hoot,
His way of saying,"Some things happen"
the moon, off color and tired of waiting,
let's out a sigh, like a breeze and acts coy.

Dead End
K Balachandran May 2014
Her sudden wink--
he quickly picks
tries to ink her like;
it somehow links him
to a past moment
retrieved from
a hidden dark place.
a journey through
verdant country paths,
in the beginning
then, a string of events,
that stirred his heart
till it hurt too bad,
leading to a dead end.
In his somber smile
her wink gets stuck
freezes in an instance,
slowly dissolves.

The hysteria of the night
K Balachandran May 2014
The hysteria of night, I feel
like a tug in my pining lovelorn heart
that pronounces her name again and again
her name flows back as a magic river
and I stand on a rock in the past,
time, I once told her, is magical
and meaningless as magic too is,
that amounts to nothing, yet we rejoice.

The hysteria of night is mellow wine,
she told me not to remember her again
she was magic, magician's special design,
appears and disappears at will, one would think
but no,  every magic lasts for a while.
The parting kiss was most passionate ever,
can interpret dreams, how can one explain this?

The hysteria of night begins when moonbeams
fall on us, she gets the message from
an unknown source, from the depth at first,
she makes me touch her left breast that transmits it,
I used to wonder about the need for rituals,
now I understand what it means.

We were possessed by the hysteria of universe,
to create, empower each other by our
frenzied caresses with fingers of love
that are long, long and search, reach to the depth,
long moments of love becomes a gooey broth
in which we flow, float, play and peak.

Fertility rites
K Balachandran Oct 2016
"I easily forget names" his confession rings loud.
She smiles as if she knew this all the while,
She is a woman who forgives, like nature.
She loves his big hands and the promise
Of caresses to sow goosebumps all over
The infertile earth.Suddenly fecundity arrives.

Then, the scents, pheromones wafts to his mind
Speak the same language in different accents
At times it is read as the whispers of winged desire.
The purple hues of arousal, and if read from an angle
Different,it spells sin in black, in calligraphic letters

The flow he is, that dances through hills and dales
Wind and water romancing red earth and ocean.
Where once blood spilled in fierce battle with foes,
A tree full of flowers now smile,a magical moment of life!

She is the drop that oozes under the moss, gathering speed
The fog that spreads and embraces the extended woods.
She defies the limits of mind and touch ebullient galaxies.
She is the field of ripe corn, mellow yellow, gently swaying.
The seeds she collects and keeps safely in her living repository.
Whatever she spills becomes her on which tomorrow smiles.
At the window wind knocks, breaks the egg shell of a dream.
She emerges, opens the door, finds him gets charged once more.

It was raining outside, an auspicious hour, like blooming lotus,
Time to conduct fertility rights, for seeds to come alive.
He feels the stirrings nature creates, arranges all
Necessary things, he towers above all
He is the sun that spreads his warm rays around.
She is the fecund red earth to be sowed  at nature's behest.
The horns blow aloud, she heard, and closed her eyes.
Felt like a flower, ready to open her petals for a bee folding wings.

The doctor, a  specialist, with formidable reputation
nationally, had a secret: a rotten apple for heart;
this apple poisoned him for ever,
but, neither he noticed,
nor there was even a whisper about this!

He could have undergone a CT scan properly!

A nurse, just a junior member in his team,
by virtue of her innate qualities, a healer nonpareil,
took the pain away, from each patient,
with her kind touch, and  soothing words.
She healed very well, their  hearts, already taken over by fear,
and yet again wounded by the brash doctor's words.
Patients counted her as a savior, much more than a doctor,
the doctor was paid well and kept happy to avoid troubles!

*not medicine, state of the art machines,
or expertise unmatched; the mind to heal counts,
the gentleness of being, of doctor or whoever,
works wonders, you'd see this all around.

This woman I fell in love with
is an enigma, none like her,
I admire her, this quite night.
Flames of desire lick me
when I even think of
her voluptuous softness
wearing shimmering black.

She prides in what she is,
doesn't pretend
as someone else.
Darkness is her
without any apology
though she owns a brilliant
cosmic jewelry shop;
only she can display diamonds
looking different in every minute,
each more dazzling than the other.

Without any arrogance or
posturing that suggests invincibility,
she surrenders all she has,
when sun demands it,
with the confidence that
when she'd  come back
after a hiatus, she will be no less.

River, with blue, black, red or clear, water, speaks force,
by a wordless word, uttered, throughout the course of  flow,
and the fierce, swirling currents hidden below,
I am that, which shows its urgent need
to commune with limitlessness.

Winds, carry with them, a meaning concealed,
of elation,  an avarice for every whiff of smell,
wind I am, with  full of speed, demonstrated as
a wish to embrace, pollinate and proceed.

Earth, my nurturing mother, remains in me, mud red,
life giving sprout, the deep thirst of blood;
its nourishing salts, has secret memories from long  distances,
from the very beginning, we as salt of the earth share.
Earth is where I have planted ancestral  memories for ever,
the desire, to touch, kiss, explore, spread roots, propagate.

Sky is my mind beyond myself, 'sky mind' of cosmos,
when, the clouds that constantly in move, blocking the sun of knowledge,
are finally  removed and  all become clear, I am ready to see the whole,
I stand in awe, like a wondering kid, stand naked below, throwing away all my toys,
seeking the answer to the conundrum of my existence.

Fire, the soul of the rock, in the core, the undying spark, that has seen all,
igneous father, the intellect beyond form, that consecrate all my offerings
of body, mind and spirit, flames in my *****, my love for life eternal  as a seed I plant in her,

**Accept every thing I renounce, with a smile
in  this sacrificial flames, Oh! holy fire
make them subtle, formless, transcendental, immortal.

What the lotus said
K Balachandran Mar 2013
Any time, he is the sun
resplendent, charm unlimited,
every flower go crazy when he smiles,
desire makes them even shameless
like animals in heat, they adore him
as the jewel of their heart.
But I alone was the lucky one,
his eyes gleamed in desire,
when falling first on me
I knew, I alone was his lotus,
the only flower he kissed with fervor,
all others were just shadows that chased him,
and he may have relented.
Though born in the depth of this slushy pond,
I am pure, having a single pointed mind,
It's not only my ruddy petals, that made him fall in love,
he felt my warm heart, many a love lorn beetle
tried to pry open, in vein.

But who would think this dark cloud,
pretending to be a class apart,
hovering above, haughty and proud,
would invade his  intimate space,
would eclipse our love so easily
by obstructing our love exchanges.

How long, a moving cloud,
that dissolves every minute
could hold sun her prisoner,
against his wishes(I am sure)
Winds of change are gathering
with such devastating force ,
they would sweep her away, so far.
Then, lashing rain would dissolve
her pride, making the sky clearer than ever.

I would again look at his eager face
so worried not seeing me so long.
"The dark days of anguish
that kept our love in the dark is over" I would tell,
"we are together, see how your passion flares
none could separate us, till the day I wither,
what if it would happen even in a day or two?"

He found a boundless sea inside  a diamond,
she keeps close to her soul, love pulsates in that ruby precious.
She wears an all -knowing smile, so ravishing,
when he gazes in to it, through her clear blue eyes.

He has seen memories that  quietly rest in her hive,
come searching for him, honeybees seeking the drops,
sweetness of the past inebriating at any time later.

We are wishes perennial of the people of yore,
who never ceased to love us
even after leaving the earth, for realms higher
echoes we are, from labyrinths of time
relayed from the timeless realm,
that appears after counting every universe existing there.

Prancing rays of sun,
eager to touch and tickle
wake everything up
from slumber,
filter through
swaying bamboo groves
singing in a divine madness
a love song,
in honor of the couple
lost in sensual yearning,
in their lovely garden,
wrapped head to toe in morning mist.
Lust is far from their mind
and nature through them expresses
its sublime zeitgeist.
Gently the wind pulls her bodice,
exposes one breast, frozen snow like.
Swimming in the waters of
aesthetic languor, she lets
the fingers of sun caress,
turning it to pink.

Koan conundrum
K Balachandran Jul 2014
when the story ended before it's beginning
there wasn't any trace of anything
even on the event horizon
the creator didn't have any chance,
to make up anything
on the drawing board of his being
couldn't sense what was meant of him
the plot hasn't sprouted anywhere
in the vast field of thought fertile
so no need ever did arise to forget anything
there wasn't any apparition of  good or evil, love or hate,
that'd  appear on earth, fire, air, space or water; not even nothing.
What is the essence of nothingness?

Freedom was,
that field of  grass, tall and verdant,
undulating rapturously,
hand in hand-
with wind's sinuous dance.

The grass hopper ruled it all,
his mind, knew limits, not once, in his life,
he was a wild horse, in the jungle of grass,
but a great  regret he had,
gnawing his heart,
like malicious cancer cells
that would eat away all his grace,
he tried and tried
but never could whistle,
not even a haunting note,
like a nightingale.

His consort would
try to soothe him, with words
"How you make me swoon,
with your soulful croon!"
his eyes would turn bloodshot,
she would then  back off,
feeling left out, not able to share pain.
" Grass hoppers
are left with no hopes-
they are a cheated lot,
left to rot"

he audaciously believed,
his face remained  always, cadaverously grim.

A boy and a girl, who ran away together,
reached there, to escape the torturous world
tasting freedom for the first time,
stood watching the grass hopper-
with admiring eyes,
and  hope brimming in their hearts,
they were so charmed by
the green freedom he seemed to enjoy!
Here, the wind swept grasslands,
looking up to the  heavens,
were a world apart,
even the muck didn't look crude!

**"Look at that grasshopper,
bless him, how carefree, he is
I wish I could be like him"
She wistfully said.

He dreamt he was Sappho's trusted companion,
To whom she shared her love's poetic lessons.
And then came this moment of revelation;
He longed to be a woman and make love to her.
Things are not as they seem  at the outset,
That part of him madly in love with Sappho"s secrets
Didn't really know is it her body, soul or poetry
That made him go mad with an intoxicating pleasure.

The other part of him in love with himself  more,

If ever he again wakes up, he'll try to make lasting peace,
Slosh in the poetic wine of Sappho and desire her all the more.

"Ïn love with the moons"
in to her ear, his inebriated
soft murmur pours,

"Don't tell me that"
she playfully taunts,
"So wicked you are,
moon, one or the other
feels the pinch a bit too much"*

Her disagreement,was meant
to be just the opposite,
the logic of which is clear, only
to lovers, in intimate moments.

Every touch is so orchestrated
to create a provocative effect,
as if there is a secret pact between
the moon and the gentle flow
caressing the mossy river bed, the tide
that  comes in with full force,
and flows out spreading peace.

They both stand under the spell,
full, milky moon and wildly dance,
till the effect of moon induced amour

Fire is in his eyes, in the pit of his belly and  *****,
a fire ball he is, zooming through the sky of desire,
the longing for her transforms in to a roaring fire
within him, it untiringly rages, slowly gets sublime

It warmed him, blood coursed in force through

he was blazing his trail, with accelerating creative urge
lovers of beauty saw him as a firefly of high skies
brightening  vast expanses of inner sky, like none else did
she was the serendipitous spark lighted him thus
the fuel that propels, the 'anima' behind his phenomenal drive

He was burning to find a moment to commemorate,

Wasn't it what he desired? She getting etched as the spirit of a smile!

The Riddle
K Balachandran Apr 2014
A ray of dark light,
from a distant invisible star
spotted him sitting
in the circle of
soft, silver light,
"May I too sit with you
so soothing seems
your presence
its gravitational pull
will **** me,
if i am not allowed
to be in that delight
of light"
All he did was just smile
being equanimous,
"The choice is yours
the karmic design
prompts everything
and the consequences
of your action would
come back to you
like your pet canine"
without a word he
told this to starlight,
went back to his reverie
on being and nothingness
"What's the nature of light
in the heart of darkness?"
was his present "koan"

and then,
a disembodied voice,
called out to him
like from a well of panic,
"Effulgent being"
it lamented, "I lost myself,
seeing your kind aura
I forgot my real self
I am  a light, but, dark
now I am lost without a trace,
I don't find myself, help"

"Enlightened being"
said the one with focused mind,
I am not a messiah, just a
seeker like yourself
You had a quest,
that transformed you
made sublime,
you are there by rights,
have become one
with the silver light eternal,
even at the heart of darkness
you cherished a drop of light
love it was distilled from pain.
Look inside and see,
you are that, not darkness,
I am still on my way
be tranquil, I am blessed
touched by your heart."

Water color painting of her mindscape
visualized by an artist of repute
and its map, though not drawn on a scale
yet shows the topography and neighborhood,
gives a concrete idea to plan the conquest.

A route map to her heart, meticulously prepared
marking all shortcuts and blockages of passages,
that may lead to confusion and mix up
is an essential tool now at hand

A modern day marauder is just that
he has no time for sentiments of a pusillanimous lover
sentiments are bothersome,  portend troubles in store
if logistics are right, plan is great, any peak will stoop,

But yes, the moon they say plays havoc,
love poems that knead the hearts, songs and music
too, if comes between, the project may go bonkers
the problem here is the reign of unpredictability
when love starts its gallop and emotions the other horses
just follow without rules  whatsoever,
isn't it unwise trying to stop a dam breach?
Not even the dam breach software be of any help here,
no study is yet available on dissipating such passion,
dynamics of love is an unknown country altogether
no intelligence available is effective to move
against it and make the conquest certainly possible.

When a poem comes to me,
I see a mysterious maiden,
her presence thrills me beyond words,
my eyes, gaze deep in to hers, get electrified.

poems, a  few of them, gently lift me up,
I remember my mom and dad doing it to me,when I was a kid,
I wanted to be lifted up again and again,
the imagery transports me to an old world,
where my eyes were  curious, senses growing outwards.

And a few had hit me hard and , even hurt,
'cause I failed to hear, what needs to be heard
I reel under the impact, but when I get up,
love it, find I am not the  one before, transformed!

And this one , meditative, makes me still,
lights a gentle flame within, I feel divine.
And the fun poem regales me like nothing else-
ever did, with quirkiness and humor, without limits.

A sublime poem is the one that takes me across,
either up above my mind's sky, so vast,
or depths of  marine blue where whales navigate,

I am an unknown continent, waiting to be explored,
this poem is an oceanographic expedition mysterious,
I find myself a deep sea creature altogether-
a new species,  none has ever found or named,
and its observer at the same time,  magical!

When love fails to see
K Balachandran May 2014
A sad whimpering wind,
came travelling great distances
bringing her wistful sighs
and solitary pain of her heart,
broken in to many pieces,
but somehow still held together;
repeatedly bangs at his closed
window panes and wait for a response
then desperately sobs aloud,
on finding it wouldn't open
even after such desperate
expression of anguish
on behalf of a love once was
a bloom of rare red hibiscus
it's color  would never fade, it seemed.

But who would understand
his sad predicament, still unnamed!
hiding in a dark corner,
not to let the messenger
know his pathetic condition,
flames leap up from his heart
lighted by his lost love,
none could ever put it out.

They parted ways to never
again come back
both know there is no life
for each without the other,
still couldn't avoid this fall
breaking a golden dream,
and lots of promises of beauty;
their budding garden went barren
for ever, why why they don't see?

instance changed in to mixes of more  ruddier hues
suggesting a separation, an invasion of black  night long.

                                        of blood
                                                  dry,
and wept,
not realizing
the thorn's anger
was directed
to the  irresponsible
aggressor, who has
only selfish motives.
The thorn meant to protect her,
while trying in vein to hold back his
tears that, for others looked like
                                                   dew
                                                      drops
                                                        gleaming
                                                                 in pain.

Once snatched from the lap of the bush
she  hardly would last a day or two,
then  would be left to rot
                                         turn to dust
                                                 and vanish
                                                     in a rowdy wind.

In resonance

I am your roar,
of anger,
pure power
released without
any reserve
creating fear
when it's the need
of the hour.

I am your fragrance,
that wafts, attracts
makes  everyone
take note.

I am your bite severe,
incisors and canines
deeply driven
without a thought,
surge of pure pleasure
expressed in a way
that may seem cruel
when the tremors of ******
washes over every cell
merging it in to a flow
seeking the sea of tranquility.

I am your moment of stillness
you, a drop of dew
that glows and awaits rebirth
when the sun kisses and dissolves you
in few golden moments.

I am your smile
so gentle, that makes
my heart stand still
with a feeling that come from
the heart of cosmos.

I and you aren't two
we lose the deep consciousness
by the play of this illusory world
where we pretend
we do things to survive
and earn a right of passage.

Nirvana happens here
in this life, in small packages,
we pretend that we are contented,
but never lose sight the truth:
eternity is our true abode,
where we aren't different,
but one and the same
along with all the others.

We found the fountainhead of the dark brimming night,
wasn't blue black as one would think, but white,
shimmering bright, flight of the pigeons, unexpected;
waves beating repeatedly against the shores, fluorescent blue poles,
seething in love and lust, bursting bright in overwhelming desire,
limitless yen to break every restraint, to merge and be only one.

put your logic aside and dive in to the phantom depths
where you reach without moving an inch in space,
blue receptacle, the cave concealing  silver sparkles
she and I were yin and yang, on an exploration of the self mountain
in the uniform of beasts, though in an incognito vacation in our forest,
it's all fantasy that creates various hues, black and white too

there were no butterflies with fragile wings under the starlit night,
when we wished the night sky was full of them, flying, alighting on our bodies entwined, in a frenzy; they tickled and caressed with tender wings,
like  dissipated pieces of rainbow, one following the other,
in a rare migratory path, across the horizon, in to the unknown.

the fountainhead of the night, we see it without even eyes,
interplanetary travelers we are, in our crafts, even if they look fragile,
the essence of being is beyond the realm of real,
we had out of body awareness,
both imagination and dream are filled with
                                                                           undulating moon grace.

"Storm cloud, the beauty in passionate swirls
my eyes never forget to capture, even when far"
the moisture filled wind of desire said with a hiss,
"Ï have an urge elemental don't you get me wrong,
madly in love with your spirited self,
I wish to make you pregnant, our union is destined by nature"

"Ÿour swiftness fascinates me but" she said
the mighty ocean current has set his eyes on me for long
I can't ignore that, he wants me as his consort
see him spray steam and   fumes
wants to keep me close and make his own always
what a wild temper he has, tsunami is another name for him
I belong to him, though sea is too far below"
Wind could see how might is revered though too far down
"But storm cloud, my beloved, remember
I have fallen in love with you for what you are
an angry wind is mighty storm in no time, may I remind you?
I will come, won't find any need to ask permission
taking your hand I'll run away with you
then the ocean current will only would fret and fume
but of what use?" the wind boomed above the sound of thunder
We watch with awe the  drama of elements of nature..

The Power of One
K Balachandran Dec 2013
A smile and a wink, create an incredible magic, one gets floored
that's her, but not a day passes without a complaint-
about her uncomplaining nature, that seems to rub everyone
in a way wrong; without any prompt,  interpretations start to pour
she definitely lacks seriousness, frivolous or an unfeeling brute?

By nature, she can't care about anything, may be the effect of the past,
tongues waged, observers increased, each one took notes,
voluntarily held conferences, and reached a conclusion, behind her back:
"Far too removed from reality, lives in cloud cuckoo land"

Strong judgments came one after the other, every one enthusiastically joined,
in demolishing, what they thought 'The myth of equanimous mind'
(irrespective of dealing with a string of troubles and continuing bad weather)
The one, only one, who kept silence, when this buzz was going on far too long,
just smiled at the end, the playful wink that followed ruffled all feathers,
now the gang has an added burden, the power of one more to deal with.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light
K Balachandran Jun 2017
Each day dawning would
gift me new eyes of wonder,
right from my childhood
a  friend, from this lone and lonely tree,
I'd fervently hope for something different,
rushing  to the window,
I view that  elegance
as the first auspicious thing
to gaze at, as the custom suggests.

After the morning light creates a pool
above the verdant hills at the east,
yet again a regular ritual,
the tree is my magical yard stick
by which I measure myself,
a mysterious pact between us
existed, deep in mind, I had felt
only we know between us
even if the breeze says, that aloud often.

In her presence every thing becomes clear.

As I watch the tree, as usual
after the repetitions of long
years of rain, shine and mist in between,
what I saw that moment was different:
On every branch seeking light,
bristled flowery wonders
songbirds, absent till the day before
in droves sat all over the crown,
in unison singing her paeans sonorously,
purple rays of morning sun
adorned each leaf, in colorful embrace.

Wasn't it the moment I was yearning for?
I stood filled with it's effulgence, crown to root
the connection in an instance, becomes clear,
there is no secrets left unsaid between  us any more--
In a flash , a golden window opens in inner chamber
I feel free from, the bindings of all mundane desires
as one rows the boat, the miseries of Samsara,
the treacherous rapids, are left behind for ever.

Isn't it enlightenment, at the moment
seeking me unassumingly through my open windows?

Life is a seductive maiden,
extending two vials,
looking equally nice,
on her lovely hands
for you to choose from;
one contains, elixir of life,
the other poison
for  slow extinction.
She enigmatically smiles,
making you irresolute;
you have to select one,
here and now, it'll decide,
what your fate will be,
in the long run.
*Don't flinch or dither a bit,
this moment is paramount;
look at her eyes intently
and extract a clue, act!

Let's walk away smiling
K Balachandran May 2016
Just a drink of water,
to quench my thirst
for your presence
for ever---

A loving pat on one cheek
for all the love on me you showered,
and softly, ever so softly
on the other cheek
give  the parting kiss for keeps.

That's all I ask for,
all the love we shared between us
never fully contained in whispers and kisses
all night conversations and caresses.

Taking a deep breath, look in to my eyes,
and pour all your blues, for me not to forget,
we are a coagulated scented mass, rare
no one in this world could separate.

Let me  emulate the wind, that rustles leaves
well before leaving without telling anything
and in return shuffle my hair, like before,
I will leave smiling, without thinking.
even when my heart is in fire hissing:
"Ah! this is how it all ends, never to repeat"

I 've learned the art of containing pain,
quite early in my life, without much effort,
a white fluffy haired pup,my dad's first gift,
that made happy beyond my little heart's content,
the one I bathed cared and fed, day and night
left for ever, in one cold  after noon...
heart broken I wept, tried to wake him up
Dad consoled "Let's buy another".It didn't help, a bit.

But when the pet parakeet, that flew around our home
was made his meal by our own rouge cat
the scattered wings, feathers and bones scared,
I didn't cry or panic, the pain died down within
I was learning a lesson then for a path strewn with thorns.

I'll walk away straight, with a smile,
like many smiles went past you,
but now, I know  you'll whimper,
But don't,  please don't shed that drop of tear
at the corner of your eye, hold it there,
it'll mutely tell you about a love divine, for ever.

From one corner of my eye,
iridescent sparks of love
involuntarily fly,
ignite the dormant suns,
yearning for a dawn,
within your lovely eyes;
overwhelmed by joy, they
light up my inner skies.

Either by the curl of your lips,
that suggests a perfect fit
with mine, keep  waiting,
or with the sensual swing
of your curved alabaster hips,
that display gay abandon,
you set flames to fireworks,
that in my veins create tides
and set fire to my *****,
that won't easily be quelled for a
while: till that time we both decide.

Silent Pain
K Balachandran Feb 2016
In that din of dining,
a constant presence
in the unserved table
was moving silence.
Everyone talked about
gnawing pain in hushed voice
with such compulsion,
when he found his pain
following each foot step
without even letting him know,
