The world of strangers
Strangely we connect through words
The heart knows it all
I am so happy and blessed to be part of HP.
Thank you all!!

Have made so many friends here, your presence in my life through words means a lot, wishing the best today and always, love and blessings
Love birds in the cage
At times  sage at times rage
Male enterprising Greenie , his name
Female whip smart,  Bluey , her name

It took me a little while to befriend the two
Never had a pet ,Other than a fish or two

Greenie was the one
Who made calls for the feed
Bluey made sure she was the first to eat

Greenie the chivalrous, would wait for his turn
Bluey ,always on a diet , quickly she ate
Greenie ate to his Heart's content

Together they would sing
And swung
On their little swing

Born in captivity
They had wings ,but never did they fly
Or
Maybe never did they try

Fly fly fly away... I'd say
Probably... Possibly ....
Never ....ever ...never they'd say

Happy in the cage ,with each other
They knew ,no other way
Love birds ,as they say
I had a pair of love birds in year 2016 , lovely they were , intelligent and lovable .
Lost them to a preying eagle , usually kept the cage outdoors during the day.
One afternoon as I left the cage outdoors ,as I was out for some work  , it was heartbreaking to see the two dead in the cage , on my return.
I could only imagine how valiantly greenie must have fought the eagle.
I do have another pair , got  one on my younger son's insistence, it was him who got the first pair as well .
Love contradicts Fame

Love says I am satisfied
Fame asks for more.

Love says I have arrived home.
Fame seeks bigger home .

Love believes
Fame doubts .
Fame ~ transient
Love ~ eternal
All that mush
What's the fuss
Life is to live
Oh yes
Love it and live
Love you Zindagi
Love you Zindagi

A crazy you and a crazy me
Holding hands breaking rules
What a lovely pair together we make
Love you Zindagi

A simple smile and a twinkle in the eye
Take away the tears and banish the fear
A beautiful art , warms up the heart

I do what I like
And I like what I do
Right or wrong
Responsibility all mine

A Believer
More of spiritual
Forgive me , Oh Lord
Follow not too many rituals

I do what I like
And I like what I do
Works of a complicated mind
That's what you'd find

In retrospect
Reflect
Yet not regret
A quirky me
Yes that's true
And
Today I turn 42
Love you Zindagi

All that mush
What's the fuss
Life is to live
Oh yes
Love it and live
Love you Zindagi
Love you Zindagi
Birthday is to celebrate life
A life well lived
A life truly enjoyed

Zindagi- life
Paper flowers bloom
Lush Fuchsia bougainvillea
Cover the arbour
Clusters of madhumalti
Bloom through the dark of the night
Fragrance of the flowers
Leads to a bright new day
Madhumalti(Combretum indicum, is the scientific name of the plant, also known as  Rangoon creeper / Chinese honeysuckle)

Blue linen
Unclouded, the canvas light
Air brushed with strings of white

Beneath the curtains
Rested the stars
Twinkling all night

The morning star arrives
Magic it has in mind
Golden drapes gently unfold
And, they were mere words
Language understood by few
Fewer, read emotions
The heart, remains red
The wall clean,
erased
And again,
just words
Candy floss clouds merrily
Twirled in the clear blue sky
The sun knew its rays were best dressed,
golden yellow

Beneath

Above the trees, flew some birds
They chirped twittered and whistled
To each their own
As luxuriant flower beds
Welcomed, fluttering butterflies
Thoughts
Aren't
Malleable and Ductile
Forced
Drawn into Sheets
Conductivity Futile
Empirically Deduced

Words
Are
Malleable and Ductile
Artistically Moulded
Strung up Embellished Pearls
Drawn into Sheets
A Pearlescent Sheen
Empirically Deduced
" Thoughts are framed in beautiful words "
Many days
And the thoughts lay scattered
Never alone, lost, too shy
The words jingle jangle
Sometimes loudly chattered

Many days
Busier than busy
Dizzier than dizzy
Happier than happy
Testing capabilities
Fulfilling Responsibilities

Many days
Work never completely done
Sleep it’s a necessity
And some fun
Walking on the Sun
Haven't posted here on HP, it's been a while and then HP wouldn't let post :))
Glad it's up and working :))
Have been listening to Inna, these days!!
Last line inspired by her song 'Walking on the sun'
Love her music.
Much to think

The chatter

In the mind

Many thoughts

Circumnavigate

Nineteen to the dozen, can’t talk like that

So I write and post

These endless words
March has marched in
Half way through the month
It is hot and has brought summer along
The grapes and melons have turned sweetest ripe
The mangoes have arrived too
Raw and green, they are best pickled
Come May
King Alphonso, will be here
From the wild coastal lands
To conquer every heart
For a golden reign

A mask for all, to live
A means of livelihood for some

Smiling eyes behind the mask
Unrecognised face, keeping distance

Parks in the neighbourhood closed
Odd hours for a walk in the neighbourhood, unmasked

Work from home, not for all
Economy at risk, lives eclipsed

The sacred fire stands witness to the 7 vows taken, a marriage solemnised
Designer masks unveiled

Paranoia may ****
Purity still protects, wins
Here’s to mask an unprecedented year

Unmasking realism
Nature’s green, truthful and clean
Heals every being

Remembering the times
When we went our free
Mask-less

The wheels of today, heavier than yesterday
Face the expression of other, masked
Get to task

The world is busy, independently
Social meetings in ruins
Empty chats, veering the talks

Care and support given out free
Distance ever increased
Measured the steps

Live today and try to be safe
When tomorrow comes
Repeat the same

Remembering the times
When we went out free
Mask-less
Mastmaula - The happy go lucky little turtle

On the beaches of Konkan
Lived a few families of turtles
For ages it has been their home .

Amongst them lived Mastmaula a young and adventurous turtle
To explore the surroundings he loved, popular and lovable , a friend to all .
Many a times he would stray away and had to be fetched by the elders in the group .

He loved visiting  the homes of the fishermen who lived by the sea.
Particularly fond of cabbage fed by the fisherwomen .

Amusingly he was also fond of music .
And loved to dance

The fishermen went fishing by the day
And would celebrate  the catch and their life by evenings .
Music played  and seafood savoured in almost every home.

Mastmaula was sure to visit, the fisherman 's house when there used to be a party.
One of the evenings , there was one going on in one of the houses , music was loud with party lights on.
And ,the food yes cabbage in colours, purple and green ,
Mastmaula knew would sure be part of the menu.

The fisherman's family had guests coming from afar
The occasion , an engagement ceremony .
As the music went on , Mastmaula went turtle and began to spin.
And sure he did have a few amazing moves , which caught the guests' eyes
And one of them ,fancied  carrying Mastmaula to their home.
The host opposed but the guest's  7 year old daughter Mili loved Mastmaula and wanted him to be part of her family . The host reluctantly obliged.

Soon , it was dark and a bale of turtles were out to fetch back Mastmaula home. They knew where to  find him.
Reaching the party venue and not finding him there they panicked and soon swelled in numbers.

The fishermen family knew it was time to call their guest ,who had taken away  Mastmaula .
The guest hurriedly came back with Mastmaula in a little basket and placed him down .
Mastmaula was overjoyed to reunite with his family and promised them all that he would never stray away and be careful of his visits alone to the fishermens homes.
Have always told self invented bed time stories to my boys .
My older son , Amitabh has been fond of 'The Hare and the Tortoise' since he was a toddler , have told him many , cause he always to listen to a new version .
Last night came up with this story of a young turtle .
I haven't ever written any story so far . This is the first that I have documented and so thought of sharing here on HP.

My mother tongue /Native language is Hindi .
Narrated the boys this story in Hindi .

MastMaula means -Happy go Lucky

Dedicated to both my sons , Amitabh and Anshul  :)
Thank you all for reading
I believe
Knowingly or unknowingly
Eventually
We find
What we had been searching for

Maybe destiny
A promise I make
Believe in resolutions
Maybe, maybe not
To make or break...
      Break...
Maybe yes
       Easy
A rebel at heart right from the start

A promise I make
To my thoughts
They shall be worded
Maybe...  maybe not

And
I shall keep
The promise I make

The sun old soul, eternally luminous
The moon in its phases, a timeless jewel

The time of the year has come to shed the old and don
the new
It’s just a number, that’s true
Each, a new day, the night, too

To reminisce what was and gear up for what is to come with a new zeal
On the New Year’s Eve

Celebrate with loved ones
Enjoy the night and be alright

May happy be the new, New
I hope and pray for one and all

Happy New Year, dear all :) ✨✨

A melange of browns and greens
Styled in a stream, where twigs float, flashing emerald green
A new life, germinating within
Colours on the canvas, dripping
A splash of yellow, winsome pinks
The barks of trees, have scaled heights
The canopy and foliage to kiss sunlight
Melodic birds
Chirp in the morning
Bees and worm
A delicacy they yearn

With an ease
They sing a song
Sometimes tense
Sometimes verse

The melodic birds
Speak a language unknown
Known to their kind
Sweet it sounds
Since times Immemorial
Mankind has held on to Memories
Of All kinds .

Carbon dating has been done
On Some
In the Caves of lost Civilisations
Still ,deeply etched on the Rocks
To Which ,
Weather has never played a Spoilsport.

Heirloom Jewellery,
Antique paintings and Artifacts
Passed down the generations
Well Preserved.

With the Advent of Technology
Memories made
Whenever & Wherever.

All Fun .
Have been making a lot of memories with family, extended family and some old friends. :)
A little inactive on HP, lately.
It’s been years
The  memories in the heart fresh
forever cherished and etched
Of the days when we were young responsibilities were less and being a student was fun
Friends always a phone call
Or a few doors away
When the days and evenings were carefree
Breakfast lunch dinner
Not the job to be done
Gone are the days for all
Not just for one
But isn’t that life
Change and Growth
It still shines the same in my hometown
though
And of its fondness
I can never outgrow
Liquid lies

Silvery white Mercury

Insulated potent

Exposed, slow poison
This year played some sad song
To hear happy ones, we all do long
Hope, everyone stays safe and strong

May we take slow and steady steps
And say yes, to life and living
May life play many lovely songs

The tempo in rhythm with the beat of every heart
My prayers for everyone
To be with loved ones and celebrate this precious life
Merry Christmas, dear all

🎄🎄
Merry Christmas dear all
May everyone receive the gifts of happiness and love, from the ever flowing red velvet sack of Santa

May Santa fulfil every child’s wish
Twinkling eyes, smile on the lips
Heartwarming the gifts

May everyone have their personal Santa, and
May the Santa have one too, to fulfil every wish
Merry Christmas dear all, have been away from hp lately, sorry for not replying to all the love and comments to my recent poems here. Will surely reply soon.
A quick write for Christmas, wishing happiness and love to all !!
Warmth of orange rust
Striking beauty of evergreen
Merry as the sun
Yellow sunburst

Feverish shimmering
Leaves on trees
Frozen in frames
Fall

Fervent
Rainbow in the sky
Beckons
Life showers you
With hot springs
And metaphorical rocks
And then there are metaphorical truths
Even when in rock bottom
Induced
Metaphors are mean
They mean a lot
In words
Earn means for the thoughts
I write my heart out
In my thoughts and words
You will see glimpses of my soul

Two years of writing
Has brought in me a change
Meltdowns have gone down
A mature turnaround
I am all happy , yet insane :))
This part of me remains the same

Life begins at 40 they say
At + 2 ,
Young and free spirited mind
The child within me thrives

Sometimes I like my shell
Undefined solitude
Peaceful place to dwell

There is beauty and pain in the Walk of life
The beauty I love to rejoice and pain I learn to endure
To strengthen the core
The heart and soul

My calling lay here
Unknown to me for years
It was destiny and good fate
A passion for words
That led me to this place
Hello poetry
A haven for Thoughts and Words

Reading writing sharing
Has taught me
To imbibe , absorb and let go

Not moving an inch yet trotting the globe
We may never meet
But I already know
The hearts and minds of so many of you
Thanks for showing me your world
And sharing your thoughts and words

I have always been fascinated
By nature and philosophy
Here I read them in abundance
Enrichment it brings to my soul
Thanks for sharing the knowledge keep doing so

The lesson I took  to my heart ,
“Share the love , share your gifts “
Thanks for teaching me so

Blessings to one and all
Peace love and harmony to the world
Today (19th Oct , I complete two years of writing)

My Mind a boardroom
Many 'mini me' hold a meet
On a repeat
Day in ~ day out
They are quite a clout

The many 'mini me'
Ardent
Arduously Debate
Strategise and Plan
Follow Time Span
Concordant
Decisions to be made
For the very Me

The  chatter inside
Silenced .....
Not a word spoken outside
Acoustics fixed...

Now it's only me :))
Something from the Mindbox
Sometimes I don’t do
What I like doing most
Held up
Stuck
Oh!! the mind blocks
The blocks
Which could have been building blocks
But instead, they lay there as the roadblocks
Traffic and Jams
No, it’s not the sweet jam
That you savour on a toasted bread
Instead it’s roasting your head
Everything comes to one big
Halt
The
Mind blocks
I don’t mind you bringing your mind
To add to the treasure
The pleasure is all mine

Lest it be a dynamite
I would secure mine
And escape out of site
Mirrors and lakes
Rusty or fine, edgy or divine
Overcast sky, they defy
I dislike the comma
Whips words while walking

Placed between two words
Whips the former and warns latter to behave and keep space

The comma is a pain
I love it
When words walk without whips
And breathe Free
Missing May
May has many days of fun
Of siblings and cousins
Parents and children
May comes with those lovely
May flowers
Every year we wait upon May
May certainly brings the family together
There was never a may or may not
May always meant togetherness
The kids have their summer vacation
May brings some hot Sun
But it’s worth it with all the fun
Ice creams and shakes
With the entire family
Never alone
May brings the happiest memories
Memories of childhood
Summer vacations spent
At maternal grandparents‘ home
With most loved and now missed,
Crazy cousins
Madness and never ending fun
Watching back to back movies on the VCR
Until Nani(maternal grandma) came and simply switched off the TV
And ask us all to come out and join her at the dining table, coz it’s time for lunch
As none of us would budge from the mini home theatre we would make with the
room dark and cold
Sometimes we would watch horror movies and then later scared, none would leave the room alone
By evening we all looked like zombies
When we came out of the house to play
squinting eyes in the mellow, evening sun
There are innumerable memories of our visit to the beach
With our most lovely Mausi( Mother’s sister), all packed in the car, the driver would drive us straight to our most loved place, The Juhu beach
Making sandcastles and running on the beach and jumping into the waves, close to the shore
The  humid weather and the salty ocean air and sand sticking to the skin
We would eat those yummy chaat and ice creams
Yes those were the days from childhood
Forever etched in the heart and cherished
Those memories
Today in the lockdown with my lovely family of four( two boys, my spouse & me)
I reminisce
This is a raw unedited piece
This time of the year, we are generally at my mother’s place in my hometown( summer vacations for the kids)
This year owing to the pandemic we are in a lockdown
Misty waterfalls
And mud trails
Mountains covered in green
Like the meadows
As you climb up the top
You savour corn on the cob
Roasted on charcoal
A zing of lemon, butter and herbs
While taking in the view of the valley down
Moments to minutes, gentle hours
Memories in old photographs
Today
Happy sad euphoric
But every day can’t be
Today
Random thoughts

On a little break, will be back soon :), best wishes to all :)
A place
In my mind
Neither Alien nor Earthly
I yearn to find

Lost
In the Universe
Neither to be found in Verse
Nor Hearse

A place
In my mind
Distinctly Familiar,Yet Unknown
I SEEK
Shall I ,find....
Some thoughts ..... trying to fill them in words
I am all about thoughts and words
Have been so all my life
Words ,being a recent find

A promise to my thoughts, I will word them all
To keep or break it , am yet to decide

The thoughts featherweight, upwards they fly
Words earth bound , gravity they can’t defy

The thoughts ,In silence they live
In words they die , To live another life
All about , Thoughts & Words :)
Windswept trees
Rain washed roads
The Koel meekly sings, perched upon the neem tree
The curry leaves, cup together
to catch the raindrops, which roll down with ease
The slender stems, sway and swirl
Spreading an aromatic fragrance
As the raindrops do the tapioca dance
with the red rounded berries and leaves
The butterflies flit in search of nectar, supreme
The yellow oleander flowers to match their wings of lime green
The dragonflies have puddles to keep
Buzzing around in brown translucent wings
This day, today, to be reminisced someday
In a sepia toned, old photograph
6th September 2020
Inspired by the rain and the way it rained on the curry leaf plant, just  outside my window
In our front yard :)
Lost in the now
Present somewhere
Reading words
Essence vaporised
Lost to time
Moments afore

Happy is my world
Love my people
Yet ,
When Words on the wheel
Redundant
Elusive, they feel
I feel alienated with self

Life’s busy
Too Many chores
Listen to my music
Remembering loved ones
Barely making calls
A Recluse
Have I become one
All good , just some thoughts.

Whispering monsoon breeze
Goes swish swish between the trees
Makes a good recce of the place
Green and proper the trees
Some laden with fruits, it’s pleased
Tickles the magpies hid amongst the leaves
Ruffles the sparrow pecking at the seeds
Waves at the clouds and the crows passing by
Giggles at the trembling basil leaves
The touch me nots, wiggle at the very thought
The champa flowers that slowly bloom
Heady the fragrance, wafts through the rooms
The swift monsoon breeze,
Whispers between the trees
Agile in its ways, soon leaves for another place
Paint the Umbrella
A Riot  of Colours
The Rain can't wash Away

Throw caution to The Winds
A Little dance to the
Reverberating Beats of
Rains splash into Puddles
The Umbrella Aloft ,Swirls
Kaleidoscopic hues at Play

Green is the Colour on the Spectrum Wide
Harbinger of Peace and Tranquillity
The Monsoons The Mainstays

Paint the Umbrella
A Riot of Colours
The Rain can't wash Away
