Poem's Worth
A poem's worth is in the rhyme
It's in the flow
and in the time
It's in the beat
One of a kind
But most of all it's in the mind
I can't usually stand poetry that doesn't rhyme (except for some cases). Yet it seems that others can't stand rhyming poetry. To each his own I guess.

All Hail the Internet
All hail the internet!
The master of us all.
The one who watches day and night,
And guards the human thrall.

All hail the internet!
Our lives without are vain.
Throughout the day we worship you,
Without you life's mundane.

All hail the internet!
Your knowledge unconfined.
Forget the days of reading books,
That time is far behind.

All hail the internet!
We're now smarter and we're kind.
No one argues anymore,
About a dress they find.

Oh, forget the internet.
I can't do this anymore.
That place is twisted and corrupt.
I'd leave but there's no door.
My friend originally had this idea of "All hail the internet" and challenge me to make a poem about it. So here it is.
P.S. If you don't know what dress I'm talking about, that's good. Keep it that way.

The Epitaph
A speech beyond the grave I give
These words on stone to those who live
My dreams of past are all but done
So take my torch and live my son
No I am not planning on dying anytime soon, and no, nobody in my family is either. I just read the epitaphs on Shakespeare's and a Scottish tombstone and thought I would give it a go.

Dreams of the Thousands
The dreams of the thousands,
These wonders not seen,
The beauty and boldness of what hasn't been.

The existence of not,
A colour unreal,
A new sense of touch that no one can feel.

A storybook fable,
The place you can't stay,
The sorrow of knowing it won't stay this way.

A waking sensation,
The gray world around,
Knowing the lifeless has now got you bound.

The life of the dreary,
The vigor of bore,
Crying aloud at the world you abhor.

But worry no longer,
For soon night will come,
And the dreams of the thousands have only begun.
Am I the only one who really likes the world in my own head over reality? Na. I know there are others like me out there.

Journey
Frozen footsteps, trapped in time
A single soul, lost can't find
The brightest light, the sun's sweet glow
A song above, mourns here below

A thoughtless step, a friend now lost
The prize I seek, despite the cost
A fighting life, death's icy grip
Continue on, until I slip

A hateful glare, or loves sweet hold
A song of poor, man's greed of gold
The forest high, the village sprawl
An old man's back, new baby's crawl

Frozen footsteps, trapped in time
The path I took, those left behind
This journey long, can't see the end
And was this real, *or just pretend?
Try imagining the journey as you read the poem. It's fun, trust me.

Dance of Time
This was where they danced before
Happily spinning across the floor
The time had sped by just so fast
And neither cared as it flew past

But now that's just a moment gone
The time of play just like the dawn
They'll work away till night draws close
Then dance away till last repose

Secret Note
Can I send a secret note?
Some words for you alone
A meaning no-one else can find
For feelings still unknown

Can you keep that secret note?
And guard it with your heart
Please recall my words to you
For when we're worlds apart
Yay! Poem! whatever.

War of Difference
Swords that clash and clang with might,
Blood is spilled but still they fight,
For honor, glory, money, land,
Or little child with helpless hand?

They fight to save those who are weak,
Those who think themselves too meek,
They fight for those who fell before,
And of course those they adore.

Defenders of what they think right,
Neither wrong, just filled with fright.
The Other's thoughts are strange and new,
And change is something they won't do.

Neither wants to fight this war.
No-one likes the blood and gore.
But they will fight till Other falls,
To keep them from each other's walls.

A difference is a war-like shout,
That causes fights and fearsome doubt.
But difference is a coloured sky,
and beauty to the naked eye.

Difference- while the start of war,
Is splendor, charm, and so much more.
It is grandeur to behold,
And worth much more than precious gold.
I didn't really like the how this poem ended but it's good enough for me to post (for now).

A Poet's Love Note
A thousand years of time collide,
The gates of truth are open wide,
Look past the guards of fear and dread,
Find the key that lies ahead.

No epic, tale, or myth can tell,
Nor on earth is there a spell,
That helps describe what's happened here,
And too my mind it's all unclear.

My feelings are a jumbled mess,
And I fear aloud I can't express,
But if you find my heart speaks true,
Know that I'm in love with you.
Valentines poem only four days late! Yay!

A Life
Life
A Birth
A Babe
Need Care
Much Care
Much Loving Care
Grow
A Toddler
A Step
A Word
A Smile
A Mess
But still a Life
Grow
A Child
There's School
New Friends
New Messes
New Experiences
And Life goes on
Grow
A Teen
A Fight
A Lover
A Heartbreak
A Forgotten Parent soon remembered
The Babe that will Never return
But that's still Life
Grow
Young Adult
Moving Out
Out to Work
Rarely a Visit
Not a Call
But still a Life
Grow
Adulthood
Marriage
A New Life
New Debt
New Worries
But that same Life
Grow
An Elder
A new Life provides Another
Experienced
A Missed Parent
A Missed Youth
But Still a Life till ever after
Not my usual style of poetry, but hey, why not.

Nightmare
Darkness, Shadows, Fright’ning screams
Red eyes haunt you in your dreams
With serpent coils and spider crawls
Clouded skies and banshee calls

Cold chills running down your spine
Something’s counting down your time
Monsters wait to draw your blood
Don’t listen for that sick’ning thud

With every turn you hear a howl
Eerie, freaky, creepy, growl
Apparitions all around
Voices groaning underground

Death and phantoms at your neck
Pirates on a grim ship wreck
Something’s coming down the hall
With fangs and claws and dying squall

Darkness, shadows, is this real
All this fear and dread I feel
I must wake up and see the sun
Or this nightmare won’t be done
Have a Halloween poem for Christmas! I'll try to have a Christmas poem for Dec. 25 (or Valentines day)

Reality
Reality
That stone cold word
That ***** out all your life

Reality
Is this world
With hunger, pain and strife

Reality
Is when you see
That beggar on the street

Reality
Is when you know
That you must admit defeat

Reality
Is death and loss
And not knowing what comes after

But Reality
Can be fun
And filled with joy and laughter

Reality
Is the time you spent
With everyone you love

Reality
Is lying down
And seeing the stars above

Reality
Is a perfect day
Where nothing seems amiss

Reality
Is your first love
Or marriage's sealing kiss

Reality
Is good and bad
Depending how you see it

Reality
Is what you want
If you just have the spirit
I don't really like reality (until we all gain wizard powers), but as far as I`m concerned this poem speaks the truth.

A Natural Argument
We are the calm,
And the great leafy greens.
We are the mountains,
The rivers, lakes, streams.

We are the booming,
And towers of steel.
We are concrete and glass,
We're the human ideal.

We're the source of life,
That sustains the earth.
We are creation,
Life, death, and birth.

We are advancement.
Technology and science.
Our knowledge will increase,
We'll stand in defiance.

We are your wonder,
Your mystery and mind.
We're the question you ask,
and the answer you find.

We are our own!
And you're in the way.
We'll remake this earth,
And leave you to decay.

You miserable fools!
You've ruined us all!
We're your foundation.
Now with us you must fall.

There's only one earth,
For everyone here.
So take care of her,
Before we ALL disappear.
I'm usually not an environmentalist,  that's just how this turned out.

Your World
Close your eyes,
And start to dream.
Let go the world,
And float downstream.

Enter the darkness,
Now start to create.
Start with the land,
Then water, now wait!

What about light?
And how 'bout it's source?
You can't live in the dark,
Unless you want to of course.

Now start placing plants.
Think of shape, colour, size.
This is your world,
Make your plants rise!

Now mess with the land.
Do what you want.
Make mountains or valleys,
This is your jaunt.

Hang up the moon,
(or two if you want),
Then throw in some stars.
This is your place to flaunt.

Remember some creatures,
Just make them weird.
Some cute or scaled,
Or some to be feared.

Now to finish it off,
It needs a ruler (that's you).
Now if you'll excuse me,
I've my own world too.
I wasn't actually bored when I wrote this one. I actually kind of like it.

Imagine
Imagine a world,
Of golden trees,
With purple skies,
and turquoises leaves.

See the fields,
Of silver grass,
Where an amber river,
Will slowly pass.

Imagine clouds,
Of diamond blue,
That cover stars,
That hang askew.

See a creature,
With emerald eyes,
Sapphire fur,
And large in size.

The world you see,
Could it be mine?
A world where you,
And I design.
This is what happens when I'm too bored for my own good
