Scrapbook Poem #57
Why won't it let me,
Follow more than 38 people?
Am I not aloud,
To enjoy more than,
38 artists?
Seems silly.
I don't know if this is a glitch or there is a genuine limit. If you've followed me and I haven't followed you back, know that I want to, I just literally can't.

Scrapbook Poem #54
I long for the ocean,
I long for the sea.
I long for the stars,
I long for the noise of passing cars.
Tonight there's a million places I'd rather be. But if I was in even one of those places, I'd miss the feeling of missing it. That's how you know you love something, when you can't bear to be without it.

Baby Steps
Today,
I talked to you.
For the first time in what seems,
To be forever.
You were pretty as always,
Quiet as always. . .

"I hurt you and I can see that,"
How did you not see it before.
I can't stop myself,
From writing,
"She broke my heart,"
All over my face.

But,
At least you know what you did to me.
I'll heal eventaully,
Baby steps.
It's hard to be happy with a heart that's split in two.

Qualm
I walk the roads of home,
And I look at the same places I know.
But they're different now,
And I don't know why.
What's going on?
What's happening to this small town?
Where'd Cooper Deli go?
The old library, it's a teaching center now.
Why are all the changes made long ago,
Getting to me now?
I'm battling qualm,
In the same streets I've walked on for years.
This is for BLT's Merriam-Webster's word of the day challenge.

Rain
The rain comes swiftly,
To mourn the loss of another tonight.
Tears from Heaven,
Falling to Earth.
It pours down from the sky,
Drowning out the whimpers of the grieving few.
Was it really just yesterday,
You said you were far too young to die.
I think God agrees,
He keeps the gravediggers,
From laying you in the ground.
Rochester is a sanctum of sadness,
Even though few will ever feel the lose of you.
I hope she finds her way to Heaven.

Scrapbook Poem #52
This will be,
My One Hundredth poem,
That I post on here.

I never thought,
That I'd have the confidence,
Or support, to get here.
Thank you for all your positivity everybody, posting here has become the highlight of my days. <3
These cold days,
Poetry is all I've got.
Where snow falls solemnly from looming clouds,
The only thing I surround myself with are words.
I miss the spring city,
Nothing could penetrate my armor of love.
For now that December has made it's descent, I am left in winter song,
Alas, for poetry, who's warm heart could melt the ice of sorrow.
Where will the fae dance tonight?
For reading poetry it makes my heart soar, and it makes my heart sore.
Snowflakes lace the winter grave of Autumn leaves,
And poetry, a silent goddess in the wind, has captured my tongue.
Where is the sun? In this winter's song,
For poems are the light in my dark.
Cold, the fingers that hold my pen,
Verse warms my soul.
Where am I? In this winter's song.
This is a mash-up of two unfinished poems. Let me know what you guys think. Have a great Wednesday everyone. :)

Dans Amour
Je suis dans amour.
Mon amoureuse est brillant,
C’est juste nous.
Tout ce que je sais c’est elle.
C’est gentil,
Tu m’as apporté des fleurs!
J’ai juré,
Mais j’ai glissé,
Maintenant je tombe à nouveau.
Je suis amoureux.
Happy Frenching everyone! I was feeling a little exotic, so I decided to write this. I'm not perfectly fluent in French so there might be a few mistakes.

Unfortunately
Unfortunately, love doesn't come with a handbook,
There's no guide that tells you how to show your affection.
I guess you'll just have to find out yourself.
A life of learning is the greatest gift of all.

Morning Poem
The sky is gray,
And the clouds are low.
The winds are chilly,
And traffic is slow.
I'm still kicking,
But my heart beat, I no longer know.
I'm missing the sea,
I'm missing home.
I want to see,
The salty waves as I roam.
My love is buried in the sand,
Too bad.
Guess I'm leaving off this morning,
Feeling sad.
Feeling really homesick lately, don't know why. I miss Boston.
Everything,
Is going great,
So many beautiful poets,
This poem is forming fine.

But there is a lot to go through,
So, please, don't worry if I don't get back to you right away.
I ensure that all submissions will be included,
And that my "thank you" is coming soon.
Thank you so much to everyone doing this, I cannot express my gratitude enough. :)
As per usual if you would like to participate please send me your submission through email at hardisonabbott@gmail.com or through private message on this website, it would really help out if you do not comment your submission. Please include the name you would like me to include in the credits. Thank you!
If you would like to submit more than one line, you may. (Though I can not ensure I will be able to use more than one of your lines. I will try my best.)
I haven't had any problems with this yet, but please do not include any adult language. I want all users to be able to view this work of art.
We still need 284 poets.
That's all for now, and again, I am so thankful for all your hard work guys. The fact that this is actually happening makes my heart swell.

To Write
To write the poem,
The one that you'll be known for,
Even beyond the day you fade to Heaven.

It takes a lifetime,
So if I'm lucky,
I still have 86 years,
To make that poem happen.
Sometimes I think country music can read my mind, how does it know what to play for what I'm feeling?

Time Machine
If I had a time machine,
I'd go back in time,
To talk to ten year old me.
I'd tell him this,
The next four years of your life are going to be painful.
The next few years we be hard,
But don't let that distract you,
From giving life all you've got.
In the end, life is all we've got. Keep fighting. :)

Whispers
I hear whispers,
In the night.
Somebody lurking,
Far away
Or are they,
Very close?
Paranoid,
Hanging crosses on doorknobs.
But does even Christ,
Have the power to protect me from things unreal?
Staring into the dark,
Fatigue eating at me.
Trying to be quiet,
So whatever is out there won't hear me breathe.

Dreams take me back,
To dark winter woods.
Howling winds,
I swear I saw it.
I swear it's real.
This one might be a bit much.

You told me,
To wait there for you.

Where are you?
I'm still waiting,
In the same spot you told me to.

Tea
Tea
Tea is a colorful drink,
It comes in many different shades.
White Tea,
Sweet and delicate, brewed from the fragrant flowers of the tea tree.
Black Tea,
Strong and simple, a firm hand to lift you up from bed.
Green Tea,
Earthy and natural, weather or not the leaves or fired or steamed.
The Tea from my Grandmother's ***,
Beautiful and delicate, imprinting upon you like fresh snow on the roads of Boston.
I was born in Boston Massachusetts. Whenever somebody asks me where I'm from, I tell them I'm from the towns by the Atlantic Ocean. While I may live away from there, my heart yearns to return.

Another Website
My friend found another website,
That they want to try out.
They told me I should sign up,
I did it only to write with them.
I took me an hour just to post a poem.

First, read the terms and conditions,
48 bullet points of rules to follow,
Though I still don't know what's going on.
Second, check your email,
Find what Kevin sent you,
And set your password up.
Third, post a poem on your profile,
If you don't it doesn't work,
And you can't view other profiles.
Fourth, try and post a second poem,
Oops! You need to comment,
On at least two other poems.
Fifth, Your comment must be,
At least, 50 characters,
They won't even accept 49.

I'm good here,
It's less confusing.
Wanted to sign up to all poetry with my friend. It was the longest process ever to just post one poem. I still don't understand how it works.

Update On the 300 Poet Poem
I don't want to flood this site,
But I think it's worth mentioning,
That overnight,
I went from needing,
299 poets,
To only needing,
294.

I've loved everything I've received,
And I am forever grateful.
Once the poem is done,
I will take down these updates.
So they don't sit around,
They'll be replaced, by a master piece.
Thank you all for your interest in this, I promise the minute this project is finished I will take all these non-poems down.
Feel free to submit more than one line as well, after all the only thing I said is I need 300 poets.
If you would like to participate, write up a line for the poem and email it to me at hardisonabbott@gmail.com. Make sure to include your name or pen name in the email that way I can credit you. I will arrange the lines in a way that makes sense to read.
Thanks guys.
Name of the poem is pending if you guys have ideas let me know, please forward this to anyone who you'd think would be interested, I want to make this a real thing.

Love knows
No; not so —used to express negation, dissent, denial, or refusal
Bounds so don't
Try; to make an attempt at —often used with an infinitive
To give it some.

Feeling Little
I feel little,
Compared to the poets whos' poems trend for days.
If they came 'hot off the press,'
They'd burn the printer's office down.
Their flow is perfect, and every poem has a clear purpose in their line up.
How can I be like them?
Traveler, Peter Garrett, Ben Noah Suresh,
All big names.
They have years of experience compared to me,
Traveler's poem trended so much it's temperature matched the year.
If I asked nicely,
Could he teach me how to make my poems great?
I learn so much from every poem on here I read,
Liana's a person, a poet, a vine.
That nobody cares about the number on the scrapbook poem,
They just care they're there.
I write because I want to show people a window into my life,
But deep down there's a part of me,
That wants to be famous more than anything.
So here I am,
Feeling little,
Feeling small.
Hope nobody's offended by the shoutouts, I love everybody's work on here, this is my favorite place on the whole wide web.

My Heart
I think my heart may be made of stone,
It's durable, but often pieces of it crumble away.
It sparkles with crystals,
The remnants of happy memories.
It's cold to the touch,
After all, rock is heat resistant.
But that's not the greatest,
For I can't feel the warm fingers of love.
It's awfully heavy too.

You turn people to stone.

But I didn't.

The Odyssey
Reading the Odyssey,
By Greek poet Homer.
I finally realized,
Not all heroes are heroic.
And some aren't heroes at all,
Often the monsters in the story,
Aren't monstrous at all.
Most times they're simple farmers or townspeople,
Upon whom the hero welcomed themselves to.
And when they retaliated,
The author makes it look like the hero did nothing wrong.
Heroes aren't humble,
Not at all.
They waste the lives of their crewmates,
Trying to do the impossible.
And, Odious,
Really *****.
I was bored in English while the teacher was reading us Homer's Odyssey, so I wrote this.
