Stay, Innocence
Bria Grimm Nov 2015
I hope you never reach
The day
Where you are lost for words
Because they're tangled up in
Agony.

I hope you never reach
The point
Where your innocence of
The world is
Robbed.

I hope you choose
Your friends and
Lovers wisely
So that you never have to
Discover what it feels like
To see those who you believed
Would take a bullet for you
Dance behind the
Trigger.
I am very fortunate that this has made the daily poems! I am completely new to this site (about a week or two in) and it is truly an honor to have my work recognized. Thank you guys for supporting!

Human Disposition
Bria Grimm Nov 2015
With turbid minds
And mercurial hearts,
One must never forget
To stay close to a flame
That burns to warm
Opposed to burning to
End.
In this life, there are sources that warm us and guide us. On the contrary, there are sources that are selfishly driven and would have no problem burning  us and everything else to ashes.

Up, The Better State
Bria Grimm Aug 2016
Red and raw like my brain,
unable to shut down.
Thoughts crashing like electrons
orbiting a nucleus of dueling emotions.
Wanting to stay up,
Knowing I should want to come down
and stay that way.
I wrote this when I was battling an addiction with MDMA back in 2011. This short piece explains my frame of mind during his era.

I hope this ressinates with at least one other soul.

He Fought Wars on My Body
Bria Grimm Nov 2015
When he kissed me, I thought he’d conquer the parts of him too much like his mother.
I thought he’d lose the pieces of militant voices inside his head on the curves of my hips.
I think he was trying to bury himself in me…
I know that I let him.
He punctuated every apology with the same melancholy mitigation.
Like a true addict, I told him that was enough.

It wasn’t.
It still isn’t
but I always miss him.
He helped  build my heart from scratch,
and I will always love him.

Harmony
Bria Grimm Nov 2015
The birds paint ribbons in this evening's sky,
and the sun sets the ruby canvas.
A breeze of fresh air brushes past us,
and the salty tint of the ocean is present.
Here in your arms,
spread out across the mounds of sand,
your fingers float amongst my skin.
Back and forth,
back and forth.
Matching the exact rhythm of the sea.

All You Need
Bria Grimm Dec 2015
You were the last act,
Now trailing in the wings
You're a carcass
Confined in my hot car

You are all the pain
I now choose to ignore

All you need,
Yeah,
All you need,
Take a look inside yourself
Strip away the seems.

You are a black cloth
Who wants to engross my light
You're just a dog
Weeping in the night.

You only stuck with me
Because you had no others.

All you need,
Yeah,
All you need,
Take a look inside yourself
Strip away the seems.

You're all wrong, but it's alright.
You're all wrong, but I'm alright.
Inspired, of course, but the lovely Radiohead's track "All I Need".
This is "our song" rewritten and now given true meaning. Enjoy.

Mother's Adversary
Bria Grimm Oct 2016
An inconspicuous wedge
Lodged between you and I
for quite some time.
A barrier so thick, I
misconstrued it as a child.

Prancing thoughts of inadequacy
twirled in my mind,
Full of naivety.

Now? I see you.
The damaged woman you are,
I see you in whole, your
Metaphoric ******.

I was never your enemy.
You only reflected as such
because my being seeped tenuous
bits of you through the
Weaker portions of my juvenescence.

I am sorry you are broken.
I love you,
and I aspire one day you will
Love yourself, too.
Bria Grimm Oct 2015
You can just tell
Yah know?

We speak in rhythms,
Passionate, fortified rhythms but
often misaligned.

I won't be blind to our truth, no
but don’t expect me to bask in some
Wonderland.

Defective perfection,
A ghastly unfortunate paradox and
A laden aura unlike any other.

My soul aches to ripen
so very desperately
But this love has taken it’s
Toll.

Me is All;
Bria Grimm Nov 2015
All I’ll have is comfort in regularity
They will have adorable laughs
Unfamiliar smells
Novelty.

All I’ll have are years under my belt
They will have moments floating in question
Battering what-ifs
Possibilities.

All I’ll have is this skin that grows old
They’ll have a irresistible softness
New parts
Youth.

All I’ll have is unconditional love
They’ll have the luring atmosphere of excitement
New found ****** arousals
Lust.

All I have is me,
and that’ll never measure up to
*Temptation.

We try to put two and two together
To make four
But someone's four isn't our four.
What's four to you isn't four to me.
Oh, what a peculiar tragedy.

This is why hearts are broken.
Why art comes in many tokens.
Why society and technology flourish
How every war in existence is nourished.

People.
Do.
Not.
Inhabit.
The.
Same.
Reality.
Perception is everything.

Mania
Bria Grimm Jan 2016
I laugh inside at the
Many paradoxes of life
Not a whole hearted laugh
by any sense,
A laugh that is timid
And present only in
Uncertainty.

I can feel my insides slowly
Slip.
