The wind outside is angry and frigid
It's picking up by the hour
The sky is dark and the ground is leaf-scattered
Autumn has broken through, gusting our hands in the air, waving goodbye to August.
I've packed up all my sundresses, now.
I found a five dollar bill in my winter-coat pocket
My nose is turning pink and my lips have cracked
It's dry this year.
The fog is sinking into the night and the streetlights catch it perfectly.
The greeting is more bitter than sweet, the goodbye is even more so.
The kids wobble to school each day with their eyes heavy and their shoulders unbalanced with books.
It's started to rain.

I think about how breathtakingly beautiful our world truly is
how many angles and raindrops have fallen among us
how the tallest of trees and smallest of pedals
sway together
colliding with the rhythym of our oceans
all of our oceans
all of our forests
all of our heartbeats
pulsing, colliding, swaying
I think about the rhythm of our planet and how lucky I am to rhyme
with all of it.

I've never been shy
around you before
But today
oh, so suddenly
My knees have grown weak.
I cannot steady my
breathing pattern,
nor my trembling lips.
Unable to speak,
I can only mumble.
Hysteric words explode
in my mind, but
all I can say is
Hi.

Where are you now
Where were you yesterday and last Tuesday
Where will you be tomorrow and          who
will you spend tonight with?
Is she pretty?
Where is your mind
Where did you drop the memories and       why
did you leave them there?
Are they ugly?
Where are you now
Where were you on October 19th
Where will you be on May 18th
Where have you gone
and why
aren't you coming back.

I can see them watching me
Their ****** eyes
drenched in degrading thoughts
Their horrible lips
thirsty for my body
I can hear their minds ******* me
their fantasies playing out like
gory horror films
They develop provocative expectations of
promiscuity
just because I'm pretty.
I don't like being gawked at
Stop that
No
Don't touch me
Don't
But they can't hear me.
Their minds have already bared my body and ***** my innocence.
All before I've even crossed the street.

I used to think that the worst feeling in the world
was wanting somebody who doesn't want you back.
But I've come to realize that the worst feeling in the world
is something much much more,
the worst feeling in the world is missing someone.
It's so much worse because you've had something with them that will
never ever go away.
No matter how many times you try to forget them
you have all the memories.
You had that person and now they're gone.
You've lost them, and there's nothing you can do that to change it.
Not being able to change that can change you.
It can turn you hollow and empty.
Because the one thing that made you feel complete was the one thing you took for granted.
And you can't even go back and prevent it from happening,
it just is.
And it can destroy you, absolutely and entirely.
But then I realized that this "it",
this thing
this something that I'm blaming...
was nothing but myself.

You'll know it's begun
when the spring butterflies
are suddenly flooding
your stomach.
You'll know it's honest
when his touch is an escape
a safe haven
and a home.
You'll know it's over
because you will be more in love
with the memories
than the boy.
But you'll know it was real
because you'll remember his soul
in the reflection
of your eyes.

There are so many places to go
so many places to visit
to see
to explore
There are so many people to meet
so many friends to make
to love
to leave
There are so many boys to kiss
so many men to date
to ****
to hate
There is just so much to do
and I have no idea where to start
sun stars moons Oct 2014
You were broken and I tried to fix you and for a while there, I honestly thought I had.
But here we are and now I’m the broken one and maybe it’s time to let it pass me by.
But baby, we swing so good together and baby, your kisses are so addictive.

I've read all my readings and
I'm watching an episode of
Skins and I'm trying to settle
the copious amounts of vino
I've consumed over the last
5 hours while I lie in bed waiting for
you to reply with an answer of
whether I should leave my bed to
meet you so that I can be in your
bed or if I should just keep lying
here watching this episode of
Skins and consume a little bit more
vino before I fall nervously into a
lonely slumber

there is a world unknown out there
begging and pleading for me to
play with it for a little while

but how can I turn one familiar one away
for thousands of unknown ones that may
or may not be disappointing or fantastic

suppose one other one was fantastic
more fantastic than this familiar one
I would never know because I would never stray

so now I confide in you, stranger
I ask you with hopeful ears
should I go or should I stay?
sun stars moons Oct 2013
I love you, you said.
don't leave me, you said.
forever, you said.
then tossed me aside
like nothing.
I need you, I plead.
Take care of me, I plead.
I love you, I plead.
nothing.

to travel the world
seems like awfully big
accomplishment

to see every sight there is
every spice and every sunset
how cultured you would be
if you had seen it all
how knowledgeable and wise

well-traveled

you could run the world
if you had to

to travel the world
will be my biggest and brightest
accomplishment

In French,
you don't actually say
I miss you
you say
you are missing from me
- you are essential to my being.
you are like an *****, a limb, my bloodstream.
I cannot be without you.

how incredibly poetic.

if pretty people
can be this miserable,
I can only imagine
how broken up
the uglies must be.
I am so sorry
that we live so
differently.

I fell in love with you the night we said goodbye
You left me breathless and shattered in your white t-shirt
The rain still echoes on my shoulders, on your shoulders
I hear the alarm going off at 4am
I hear you crawling out of bed, packing
I hear the fog rising at dusk
I hear the car tires on the crumbled pavement
I hear your last whisper
I hear silence.
Silence for months, darkness
for months
Distance
Depression
Love

Feeling rather lonely today
Maybe it's too late
to say
How often you are on my mind
Maybe it's too late
to try
There's so much that I want to say
Maybe it's too late
today
I'll love you forever, I will
Maybe it's too late
to tell
You could say you love me too
Maybe it's too late
for you

I'm feeling creative
I don't know what it is
that is softly pushing my mind
against my heart,
but it is strong.
Gently but firmly,
urging the words from my
tongue to my arm to my fingers.
Maybe this poem
is not a poem at all,
or maybe it is a
terrible one,
at that.
A poem, such a vague
definition.
Just words.
My words.
Her words.
Strangers words,
so beautifully put together
or so wretchedly.
Words that make you feel
feel anything
when you're feeling empty.

What is this crap?

Sorry for wasting your time
if you read this
poem.

thriving on the electricity of being so full of **** they were probably

I'm so ******* unhappy
and I wish somebody could sit here
and tell me tomorrow will be better
but truthfully
I've been through so many tomorrows
and so many last nights
that no matter how many pretty words they whisper
nothing will change.
So close your eyes, my love, and I promise you
nothing will change.
And I'll keep walking slower
and not listening
because I've got nowhere to be and nothing to hear
in this god forsaken, obscurely dark world.

Envious
    ******.

What fake, plastic, pathetic
    ******.
Alone and lost     caged
            within their aliases
Their urged embraces turn to
meaningless     ***; a false sense of security

Rich, spoiled, tragic
    ******.
Their egos towering, fiery and hot
hiding from rejection
guarding their sincerity
it’s disgraceful

Rest, you sad
    ******.
Embrace reality

Are you afraid?
War
sun stars moons Oct 2013
War
They say distance makes the heart grow fonder
I say that’s *******
Distance makes the heart suffer
Distance took my heart and plucked its petals
one
by
one

It holds me tight
Too tight, until my breath gets short and my legs go numb
Distance built a nest in my mind out of fragmented memories
I will never let go of
Memories that are now so distant I can no longer cherish their brilliance
or remember their fragrance

This distance is a cry that cannot be silenced
It is the side of the bed where you should be lying
It is the dial tone when you hang up the phone
It is the dreaded groan of waking up alone
Distance is disappointment
The hollow echo of loneliness
My vacant arms
Distance is sorrow

We have no choice but to be bold

Distance is the strength found where hope was lost
Distance decorates the wings of the butterflies that
f l u t t e r
in my stomach when the distance disappears
As the miles between us fall apart, distance falls quiet
A moment of reunion
A moment outside of time
Building bravery in our cores
Steadying us for battle once more
Mounting our horses, drawing our swords
We are bold.

Distance keeps our memories close to home
It is the struggle that taught us how to be brave when we are alone
Distance is the challenge
To determine how much we can handle
Distance pushes our love to its limit
Distance is brilliance in the tragedy of our goodbyes

We awaited his late arrival
The bell had sounded minutes ago
We ignored and appreciated the lack of instruction
Warford came in casually, handing out blank sheets of paper
He sat down and leaned back in his mighty chair
The board behind his closed eyes and crossed arms read,
"The Assignment"
Some kids wrote "The Assignment" on the top of the page and left the rest blank.
Some kids made up their own "Assignment" and handed it in.
Some kids left the entire page bare.
I drew a dinosaur.

what is it
that drives you
what do you seek
what urges you
what encourages you
what makes you twist and gag
what agonizes you
tortures you and
terrorizes you
what builds you
what strengthens you
what pushes you to
reach higher, farther
what is it
that makes you cry
what tears into you
what speaks to you
what reminds you
of yourself
what colour are you
what time of day
do you shine your
loudest
what is your melody
what breaks you
what puts you to sleep
what feeds you
what shakes you
what shade are you
what is it that
makes you

We are all flowers
of different kinds
We water ourselves
with love and sunshine
But the saddest people
are tired and wilted
and who would water
a damaged flower?
I must be insane
for believing in you,
convincing myself,
thinking you'd stay.

emerging from this bottomless darkness
I can see the rays of light just yonder
stretching the furthest stretch my arms will allow
grasping for anything lighter than black
hues of dimness or even a hint of shimmer
get me out of this dark I've been living in
let me see the light, let me in.

I caught myself
dreaming
of a world that doesn't
exist.
I caught myself
wandering
aimlessly through the
abyss.
I found myself
lost
in a city full of
empty people.
I found myself
alone
in a world full of
pretty
people.
lonely
people.
sinful
people.

no one will love you
no one will be able to love you, nor will they know how to love you
unless you, first, can accept all love for yourself
selfish you, silly and selfish, you
caring for everyone but yourself
foolish.
it is okay to be greedy, to be needy for love
it is okay to need to be needed, but no one will need you
if you don't think you are worth needing
or loving
so stare at those big beautiful eyes
curve those lips into a grin
whip your hair and paint your nails
because you are worthy of love
and I will love you, if you do.

the flutters in your stomach may
leave a sparkle in your eye which
will dance to the beat of your heart
and the slipper may fit but will it give you blisters when you walk so
think about that tingle and if that is all you need since
all that matters first to you is you so
first you've got to lose your mind before you ever truly fall for someone else's.
