Swimming in a sea of liquid jade
Green waves semi-opaque,
Droplets shining crystalline like jewels
Tendrils of seaweed, entangling embrace
short poem inspired by a section from chapter 13 of The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
heidi Aug 2024
And like the rain clouds
Dewy drops fall from thy face
Puddling my heart
heidi 6d
I walk on the side of the road because there are no sidewalks,
And my shoes are half a size too big.
When I kick up the dust, it settles under my socks.
short poem, true story.
heidi Mar 27
dilapidated,
your smile hangs crookedly
like a broken arm
no matter how shattered some things become, they are still persistent in existence.
heidi Mar 23
Leaping from branches
Sending the water droplets
In the air like rain
Haiku with inspiration drawn from tree frogs!
heidi Aug 2024
Labyrinthine!
Like ghosts, thoughts of you
fill the decrepit halls of my mind
heidi 2d
i'm grateful for scraps
just a drop of your sweet love
a taste of honey
he can keep me hanging on as long as he likes
heidi Jul 12
i rip at my face
only my disfigurement
will match her beauty
my face will never match my true self

Heavy purple clouds weep over the city,
Followed by an occasional thunderous boom
Rain gathers in quiet puddles

Petrichor fills the air
Everything takes on a moistened shine
And the breeze becomes a chill

A jagged streak of light divides the sky
Quicker than the blink of an eye
Revealing a sky of constant change
a chance for the plants of the sidewalk to be watered
heidi Nov 2024
leaves falling from their branches
soaring through the air
before painting the ground orange
heidi Nov 2024
Deadened leaves falling
Bare branches shake in the wind
Shedding summer’s coat
heidi Apr 9
Pink cherry blossoms
petals fall softly like snow,
painting the sidewalks
heidi Aug 2024
The time before time
there was no such thing as hate
Just pure energy
heidi Mar 26
becoming the clouds
floating through the atmosphere
daydreamer’s delight
heidi Aug 2024
They cut down the trees
and wonder why they can't breathe
deforestation
heidi Nov 2024
The desert sky is vast
A heavy blue spanning far
Rippling with the sun’s heat

Cacti line the horizon
Like an uneven barbwire fence
As the sky turns to orange

Like a flame licking the world
Dry and thirsty for a drop of water
The sun sinks into the Earth
heidi Dec 2024
Breathe in right away
Lungs expanding with each breath
A taste of fresh air
heidi Dec 2024
The ground is my home
I am nothing but the dirt
Underneath your feet
heidi Jan 5
coffee tastes better,
instead of being bitter
when we share a cup
heidi Nov 2024
A frog makes his home
in the hollow of a tree
where he sings all night

Your initials are carved
into the bark of my heart.
Wooden permanence.
short write on my love
heidi Apr 25
I'm the observer
the stillness beneath the waves
I refuse to drown
When you learn to understand your feelings, and not allow them to rule your life, I think it does wonderful things for you :)

Quiet and hazy

Yellow summer afternoon

Hungry and lazy
another hot summer day in the desert, sun so bright it turns my vision white!
heidi Aug 2024
Kaleidoscope thoughts
they reflect and multiply,
bright and distorted
heidi Dec 2024
The sky boils red
Rippling in the sun’s heat
Flaming atmosphere
heidi Dec 2024
Think, think, think
Still not a drop of ink
The page lies bare,
As does my stare
Indifferent and dull
My mind has nothing to mull
Only the wish to write,
Not a thought in sight
having the desire to write is not the same as letting creativity flow through you
heidi Aug 2024
Your breath dissipates to wind,
Blowing cold against my bare cheek
Creating goosebumps

Frigid, I clench my jaw
Afraid to give you frostbite
With icy exhales

I love you in the wintertime,
Where the world grows as cold
As your heart
heidi Jun 17
They said it would rain,
but it is a cloudless day
and the sun shines high!
heidi Mar 15
Monarch, monarch
where did you go?
We used to watch you soar
only a few years ago...
while the monarch population is growing, it is still below the average numbers they used to reach.
heidi Nov 2024
The leaves have yellowed,
marking the end of the year.
They fall from their branches.
heidi Aug 2024
like bursts of sunshine
dandelions poke their heads out
through fields of green grass
heidi Mar 20
The mist rests gently upon the water’s surface,
where the fireflies flash like sets of blinking eyes
Long leaves of willow hang down, motionless
as an owl cries above, illuminated by the moon
heidi Dec 2024
Sticky kiss so bittersweet
Happy lips will meet
:)
heidi Apr 2
The atmosphere is thick here
Sweltering, but the ocean in near
With the sand between your toes
The beach is where everyone goes

i marinate in memories
taking the time to let it break me down
and add a little flavor to my life
i am rarely inspired anymore, the light has dimmed significantly for me - here is a snippet of a lost trail
heidi Jul 11
I take the sidewalk
and my feet are uneven.
I'll take the dirt path.
i don't get why we even have sidewalks, it is better for your feet to be upon the Earth, it supports the shape of your foot.
heidi Sep 2024
there’s a melancholy tune
from the shallow end
pulls me in, broken-hearted
heidi Aug 2024
watching the clouds float
listening to chirping birds
i feel a calmness

The world is springing with life
Waiting to greet you!

The world is waking
A cacophony of birds
The sun cracks the sky
heidi Jun 2
Sitting in the sand
watching the waves steal the shore,
seagulls cry above
inspired at king's beach, california

Waiting for the worms,
I rest still in my casket
for the Earth's embrace

the weeping willow
weeps for all eternity
silent in the wind
