Don't tell me that you tried your best

Warm Smile
It was snowing in the frost of my heart
Your smile melted the icy shards
Warming me with your intrinsic laugh
Just like that,
I was brand new
Amazing what a smile can do
you melted my icy heart

orange
i remember you'd bring me an orange
whenever i was sad
you said it was a symbol of courage
a sphere of sunshine to use at my command

i remember you'd bring me an orange
just to make me smile
i remember you taught me that courage
can be found in the fruit isle
you would bring me an orange of courage

Seasons of our Love
Things were perfect in the spring
September secrets told to the silent soundtrack called surrender

Things started to change in the summer
December decisions dictated just how daring we were willing to be

Things were not the same in the autumn
April arguments answered the arduous questions that comes with abortion

Things were over by the winter
June justified our journey in juxtaposition love scenes

The seasons of our lascivious love
Show that we were never meant to be enough
The seasons of our lascivious love
Show that we were never meant to be enough

High school is five years of nothing.

By nothing, I mean it means NOTHING.

As soon as you get out you transform into something else

By the time the reunions come around you do not recognise yourself

Who you were then will cease to exist

All of it rendered insignificant

I'm telling you friend,

High school is five years of NOTHING.
one of the truths of life...

Integrity vs. Popularity
I would rather have integrity than popularity
I would rather be alone but be kind
I would rather be poor than have money made from crime
I would rather know a bitter truth than live a life of lies
I would rather have one true friend than a group that can't be genuine
I would rather die at twenty one if that short life was filled with love
I would rather be shot than use a gun against another
I would rather be female just to prove we have it harder
I would rather have integrity than popularity
I would rather live in my fantasy than in your reality
i would rather be female just to prove we have it harder

not everything is meant to last

The First Night
I danced before you
In my naked youth
My hips moved in mysterious motion
The music played so ominous
Carrying out the back door

I made my way toward you
Until we were flesh on flesh
The curve of my thigh
Matched the shape of your palm
While that eerie song ended
I became yours
the night we became something else

So go.

You say that I make you so unhappy
So go.

You say that you're sick of my violent mood swings
So go.

You say that I am emotional and needy
So go.

It's funny how you're still not leaving
It's funny how you're still touching me
It's funny how you phrase your apology

Lens of Forgiveness
If you could look through the lens of forgiveness
I wonder what image you would see
If you could clear away the cloud of resentment
I wonder if you'd finally be free

I know you've been hurting through this whole year
I know we never thought that you would meet me here
I know I hurt you like only I know how
I know I don't deserve the grace you're handing out

Tell me, what is the taste of forgiveness?
Does it bring the type of peace that lingers?
I cannot promise you I won't fail you again
But I can promise you I'll love you till the end

I saw you look through the lens of forgiveness
You told me you could see an image of us
A marriage once broken was healing
Forgiveness was your epic expression of love
forgiveness healed us

Here I am
Standing outside in the freezing rain

You don't understand
You think it's fair to make me wait

There you are
Coming outside and inviting me in

It hurt so hard
When I realised your true intentions

I'm in your bed
The regret is so extremely putrid

I can't pretend
What made me feel beautiful now makes me feel worthless

Here I am
I'm on the train home after deleting your number

How one sinful night ruined my whole summer
a mistake ruined her whole summer

The After World (Lessons)
Death came quickly
Taking a life that went by so slow
I was buried right near my late grandmother
In a cemetery where roses grow

I crossed over to The After World
There was much that I had left to understand
A woman wearing glasses with jet black hair
Showed me the nature of forgiveness and acceptance
She was my guide in this strange land

I had taken my life so abruptly
Now I stood in the awareness of this
In The After World I learnt the true meaning of life
I learnt that it was always a gift

When I had finally understood love
When I loved myself unconditionally
My guide opened a door to a garden
Where everyone was waiting for me
life after death

Love's Proof
What is wrong with me?
What is wrong with you?
We believe in love only when we see proof
proving love is difficult for us
I know you think you're invisible
You are not
They are in fact completely blind
You are a chosen one in the land of the lost

That mirror in the bedroom
Plays tricks on a beautiful mind
Put there to confuse but you only lose
If you believe their lies

I know you think you're invisible
We sometimes believe what we are told
I have always seen you
I'm the truth within your soul
I wanted to set you straight

endurance
the person in the mirror is an old, old friend of mine
you would think that she would be my enemy
judging on my history
but time has a way of redefining judgement
experience has a way of re-evaluating importance
grace has a way of breaking down pride

the person in the mirror is constantly evolving
sometimes so much so that she does not align with me
she will be my neighbor
she will be my mother
she will be a perfect stranger
she will be everything else in between

the person in the mirror sees the finish line
before i have tied my laces
before i have found the beginning
she will coach me in a way
that no other can perceive
before i even know it
we will both be in a place no one can see

the person in the mirror is an old, old friend of mine
she used to be my critic
she used to be my opponent
but love has a way of healing the deepest childhood wounds
peace has a way of emerging after endurance
before i even know it
we will both be in a place no one can see
