Cracks
Yashri May 2020
The cracking of your bones,
sounds you hear when you crouch.
Trying to protect yourself from whom?
Your spine can bend
and extend
no further, protruding out
ready to snap, you twist and you moan and you groan
when will this stop?

You feel as frail as a bird
One that has fallen after its very first flight

The cracks are what you hear
when hope is lost.
You feel like your weakening will
can weaken
no further.

stop
just stop.

Listen here
Don’t listen to yourself breaking
Don’t slip through these cracks
Standing up is now your cause
Hope is not lost
So sit up and straighten your back

The more you crouch, the more it hurts
That corner you’re attached to is not your solace
or quiet place
you crouch there, only in the cold embrace
of your crumpled shirt

Corners don’t shelter you from your fears;
they cage you in with them.
They widen and stretch the cracks on your skin
Allowing pain and judgement to seep in
Cracks are gateways letting the water in…
Water that dampens your flame, your fire
and Hope
a precious thing

You’re hidden yet left wide open
Stuck in purgatory
This liminal hell
You hear the tolling of your own death knell

Are these cracks the
pain before your rebirth
the shedding and flaking
of your skin
which will leave you behind, a rejuvenated being?

You decide if these cracks will only exist
as a reminiscence of the passing pains
or will your thoughts dictate
that these cracks originate
from the epicentre of who you are?

Will you let this cancer-like spreading of the cracks continue?
Or will you stand up and straighten your back
To close up the cracks
and save you from You
This poem is an inner dialouge. It is about facing your fears and getting back up after. Feeling like a failure makes you vulnerable and afraid and it cracks open a pandora's box filled with self-loathing and doubt. The poem is about acknowledging the pain and facing it.

I am awake

alive. aware. tired... but, so awake
ready. content? drained... but, ready.
ready for what's next.

soak.

soak while enveloped in His cloak of soundness, of serenity inconspicuously emerging from the crossfire

come to an understanding

a consensus with Yourself

stay.

stay here... in this fractured moment of freedom, of belonging, of peace

A breakthrough.

Gasp for Air before descending back into perplexity.

Helloooo, this is something I've written after years of inactivity, life's been really busy guys...

P.S I can understand Hindi but, I have never studied it, forgive me if I have made a mistake... I just love the impact Hindi has. My mom speaks Hindi so I just have an unconditional love for it huhu

Btw the title is 'Zinda hoon yaar' - which means I am alive, my friend

The poem is quite vague but, I think it perfects sums up what I was feeling when I wrote it

Why you gotta be so Rud?
Yashri Dec 2015
Its Crimson Red Nose
A striking symbol,
A jolly tale,
Santa soars in his sleigh
& He sees the way,
He never fails,
The route unfolds
because of the bright glow
of Rudolph's red nose.
hehe. Merry Christmas.

The Sea
Yashri Nov 2015
Folds of water
Layers of dirt
Bubbling foam
A vast body
wrapping itself around the Earth

Schools of life
Clumps of Color
This is where it thrives
The souls of creatures
A potpourri of lives

The might of the ocean
The strength of the Sea
No one can match
No one could hardly believe
its ability
to devour kingdoms
Engulf islands and make them its own
Drag them down
Yank them by their legs, shatter their bones
Drag them down
Til they ultimately can descend no more

I can almost hear the primordial sea deity bellow
With a voice so deep
It shocks, explores
and shakes your soul
An immense
Deep bass tone.
It strikes more than just a powerful chord
“Come back to me”
“Return to your mother’s womb, down here, down low”
“You belong to me, my right, my property!”
“Return to the world below.”
“Come back home.”

Under the Sea
What's deep beneath?
The iridescent water
The clouds of foam
Conquered by monsters?
Down there,
Do sirens roam?
We aren't aware
We do not know

Enigmatic waves
Rows of fossils
Caked in dirt
A haven for aquatic raves
A museum holding remnants
telling the story of the Mother Earth

This is the Sea
Take a swim sometime and feel its rhythm
Listen to its story

Flow with the sea’s entrancing beat
I have faith and I believe
That the sea is a world of its own
Accentuated sometimes by its powerful voice or melodious hum
No less mighty than the world above.
Let's keep this beautiful wet world untouched
to keep it as it is, the world we love

My take on the ocean. I have an uncanny connection with the Sea.
I feel it is the epitome of strength. I just love it. I don't know how something so huge and vast can be so personal to me. Ironic.

Rot in Hell
Yashri Nov 2015
May you both rot in hell
While we all cheer along to the wedding bells.

May you cry and sulk
While we’ll be buying all them flowers
Ordering in bulk

It's not your choice.
You can’t decide.
It's what she wants.
You can’t deny.

This is the moment in life
where she has every right
to choose where her heart belongs
This is the moment in life
Where she sees the light
Where she knows that Love can never go wrong.

All her life she blindly followed,
always listening to constant
“I know what’s best for you"
All her life she went where your desires showed.
Never uttering an “I dont wan't to”  or a “No, thank you.”

Don’t use pointless blackmail,
Come on! If you fall that low
Then as parents you ultimately Fail
Do not be that shallow.

May you both rot in hell,
While we all cheer along to the wedding bells

©SHREYA DRISTI
If you prevent a marriage between two lovebirds, YOU ****.
Sorry not sorry.
Hahaha.
This isn't personal at all. It was inspired by the song Rude.
I guess in most cases True Love should prevail :).

Goodbye
Yashri Oct 2015
Oh no
I have a situation
I wrenched my heart out and slammed it down
Pain was a destination
A place where I didn't want to go
But I arrived anyway
So quick
The seconds
I couldn't count
My heart
I smashed it ******* the gravelly ground
Don't know if it was worth it
I wish I couldn't feel
But I felt it alright
The misery flooded
So much darkness
Everything became as black as a stormy night
I had no choice but to give in
To just let myself drown

My heart
Or should I say
Whats left of it
Pieces of shattered and broken reminiscence of feeling
Could not beat anymore
Not at all sure
If there was a cure
Perhaps a chance to undergo healing
I was certain
Cardiac surgery could not repair this peculiar feeling

It has lost its life and soul
Whats left
Could see no light and feel no hope
It felt cold
It felt dead
It felt meaningless
It was filled to the brim
with despair and dread

My brain
was going to lose its connection
I suffered from a conscious concussion
Head throbbing
Consciousness threatening
Threatening to slip away
I just kept walking
Told myself
Hey
No way
For my sake
You're going to stay

Frustrated
Ill-fated
Outdated
Well
That's what I've heard

Words filled with venom
Whispers
Spreading around like poisonous vapor
Spreading around like lethal cancer
Stares and smirks
Glares and jerks

No
I have to go

I just want to fly away
And the only thing I want to say
Is
Goodbye

Goodbye
For a better life

I wanted to go to a place where dreams come true
I lived in a fairy tale which was laced
With Honey
Nothing but sickly-sweet Goo
Fattening and Fake
I was going to go there with no one but you
But you had no support to give
Did you?
Take Take Take
It was all you could do

I saw your ugly being
Concealed behind your facade
Indeed a horrendous thing
Obviously tortured
Obviously scarred

Malicious and Mean
After your period of pain
You became twisted
Metamorphosed into something I have never seen
Mutation of human character
That describes you
To what species you belong to
I have absolutely no clue

I just want to fly away
And the only thing I want to say is
Goodbye

Goodbye for a better life

A place where I'm happy with myself
A place where I know peace and love blooms all around
A place with no one else
But the people I love
The people I would go anywhere for
All the way down
Deep beneath the ground
I would go there happily
For these people
I would go deep down
A place where evil can never reach me
A place where malevolence can never be found

A place with my family
My universe
The location doesn't matter
As long as they're there
I could never be happier

The people who keep me on track
I'm so lucky
So **** lucky
To have people who are always there
To have my back

So right now
I'm glad
I said Goodbye
Glad I left
I'm glad I said
Goodbye

Goodbye
for a better life.

© SHREYA DRISTI
It doesn't really have to do with my situation because I have never experienced extreme betrayal in my life. I'm just a child. Still in the process of growing up :D. But if I was feeling down I know who's the true people who would always be there for me.

SO SORRY THAT THIS IS SO LONG AHAHAH.

Balance
Yashri Oct 2015
Can't leave him,
Hurt
I've got to stick to my word.
I accept these mistakes
But isn't it just fate?
a Plan
a Play
By someone who wants it to be this way,

You can't stop loving someone
In just,
One day

God help me now
Save me now
You graciously brought him to me
Now don't pull him away

Please
Direct me
To the right path
The honest path
The balance of my feelings
And what's right
I promise
I will not sway.

I've come this far
There's no turning back now
If only
Love were to be a car
Which could make a u-turn
Somehow

That is the practical side of my mind
Wishing it were true
But I know
My Heart
My Soul
My very existence
Wouldn't allow me to

Tell me
When it wonderfully appears
It might take long
It might take years

Tell me
When
Once again
It glitters bright
At the end of this long, dark tunnel
Hope returns
A relief, a Stunning light

Wow, this brings me back to last year. It was a confusing time. I was figuring out my priorities. I'm sure about them now haha. But I wasn't then. I wrote this in that turbulent time. Hope you guys can relate to this. Enjoy ;)

Being Human
Yashri Oct 2015
Seriously, Guys!
This is what I don't
I can't buy.
Like dogs, why do we fight?
When we can be kind and care
Why are people's souls filled with spite?
When love can fill the air

We are all originally
Simple Human Beings
We all have feelings
Feelings.

That one special gift God has bestowed upon us Graciously
That one special gift that separates that Monkey and Me

But are we
Being the good humans
We're expected to be

Are we,
To put it simply,
Being Human

Because, if we're not then...
We should Learn
If not
We'll never yearn
To
Be
Human

Open our eyes, ears
Hearts and Souls
To learn
To
Be
Human

Because we are Human,
Truly.
So we should be,
Obviously.
And write our own destiny

When our inner realization sparks
We would know in our hearts
That we've made a mistake
We would know that
HEY!
Why did we discriminate?
Why did we constantly hate?
When we all have blood of red
Which we often forget

When we all have two eyes
A mouth
And two ears
When, we humans, all
Have the capacity to fill oceans,
Lakes and streams
With our innocent tears

So
Step by Step
Hand in Hand
Let's all take a firm stand
To bring back
To rekindle
Our Beautiful World

When Humanity is Lost
We would not recover
We would not be able bear the price, the cost
When Love is over.

Lost with pointless
Battles and Wars
Lost due to endless
Violence and Brawls

There would be no return
So we should learn
Once again
To
Be
Human.

© SHREYA DRISTI
I'm afraid of what people are becoming. We are forgetting that we are humans first before anything else. Many have forgotten how to love. I hope Humanity is not lost because that would be the emotional end of this World.

I hope you all enjoy this poem. We are human beings but many of us aren't Being Human.

The title is inspired by Salman Khan's organisation Hehe.

It's how you Look at it.
Yashri Oct 2015
Dragging your feet,
Cursing at life,
Sighing continuously,
Dreading goodbyes.

Sulk and frown,
Cry and drown.
Concealing and hiding,
To never be found

Skies seem grey
Oceans seem rough
Life seems hard
Breathing seems tough

Snap out of it
This is no way
To go
Be proud of it
Be proud of the life you have yet to explore

See things with light
Look out for the silver lining
Right over there!
Can you see it?
It's glowing
It's brightly lit
It seems concealed and not out there
But like the moon
while the sun is shining,
It is present
It will go nowhere

View things through rose tinted glass
Forgive
Forget
  Recover
Fast

Now lets start again
From start to end

Stars twinkling
Flowers blooming
Spirits lifting
Sun is shining

Cooling breeze
Fresh and Free
Stunning seas
Life can be easy

Look hard
Look at it
If you can see the light
You're doing life right

Remember
Look at life like it's spring
not bitter cold November
Giggle and sing!
Positivity is the key
To being alive
To being happy.

© SHREYA DRISTI
A little refreshing uplifter to keep reminding myself that life is not so bad. It's how you look at it.

Positivity is the key
To being
Ultimately
Happy.

Smile Guys.

Time
Yashri Oct 2015
Why won’t he stay?
Walk, talk, hold each other and be glad
Why do you pass,
Why can’t you stay this way?
&
Be a replay
Of the best moments we’ve ever had

Why can’t you redeem yourself?
It just isn’t fair
You shoot away when I’m smiling
And crawl when I’m in despair

Why can’t you be controlled?
Why aren’t you bound by law?
Bound in chains
and kept on hold
You’re nothing but a system of flaws.

You, a beautiful flashback
Glimpses of bliss like a moonlit kiss
No
You slam me back
To a cold, harsh reality
Which bites, stings
And drives me to insanity

As if i deserve this,
As if you’re that cruel

***** ,back off,
You’re great and all,
But I’m sure you hate this job,

*****, just go,
Just leave me in peace
Just leave me alone

© SHREYA DRISTI
This poem is just a huge metaphorical representation of Time. This is just me expressing my frustrations and hatred towards time. I'm so insanely mad that I've started nagging and scolding Time. I'm ****** that it cannot allow my fantasies and that it cannot consist of only the sweet memories. I'm furious that it cannot be controlled and passes only when I'm having fun.

— The End —
