Flock and Fauna
polyratic Sep 2020
Caught within
the cot I built
to slaughter
all the goals that fit

A miasma, thick
with success and stress
in growth, the wisest
call duress

on my throne
sits the black honed axe
seething at my fauna,
as I contemplate their imminent trauma

I'd rather watch them grow
as steel plummets to their throats
augmenting my flock of ghosts
enclosing the lonesome cot and throne
Mental duress, old and new.

Supposed Sanctuary
polyratic Apr 2020
Held by history
confined in walls
where paper,
still.
governs all

'For the safety of us all'
these devices screen
next door,
cracking belts
Children screams

Surrounded by eulogies
Of simpler times
Like death by bullet
Wasn't rhythm and rhyme

Home invasion
Gun persuasion
Stray creation
Retribution

Belt percussion
Slight concussion
Entomb emotions
using potions

Supposed sanctuaries
Sheetrock, iron bone
Dimming lights
Of life weary souls

A pacing procedure
Vital to victor a virus
Raging through
Fervetly quells creativity too
Quarantines are not lived equally.

Clouds
polyratic Mar 2019
Birds of a feather
Migrating to better weather
Through these clouds
Our hearts are tethered

Through storm and bliss
Landscapes,
seascapes
Perched wherever the sky scrapes

Gazing afar for where to fly next
But with this clip in my wing
Racing rats all around
Four walls are all I see now

Yet each time I accept my fate
I see the clouds move in heartache
Perched wherever the sky scrapes
I used the clouds as a staircase

In light of Consequence
polyratic Dec 2018
A stab for a word.
A shot in the dark.
We die for a look
trying to justify who we are.

With this incantation
this formula;
Action.
Reaction.

Let me choose my faction
Contradict this faith
Cause no one's contributing
To my collection plate

Imbued by escapades,
that gifted
my man,
his hood.

Protecting my pride
Portraying my promises
Pure or profane
For pleasures and pains

Pushed by pixels.
Saline soaked tissues.
Rent, rats, respect, rules
Tend to tempt the next move.

Excuse the grime on my shoes,
the grim in my eyes
cause I can’t tell the consequence
of showcasing a kinder side

Attempts to make
Meticulous marvels
Molded from mountains
Mindful of the minds
That mind it
My mind whenever I attempt any project.

Something too much?
Recognition,
the request.
For some,
for most.
It may not matter
how meticulous was
our best.

So as a raging river
a mountain I'll tear down.
Now I see the wall
rodents made to keep me out.

Never wanted to be a depressing poet. Honestly. Yet here I am.

A Perfectionist's Sin.
polyratic May 2018
I have perfect ideas

  lol, wrong shoe to fit.

My concepts are solid

as drywall bricks.

Yes, please bring us down

  What can you show?
  Misplaced trust.
  Bread crumbs,
  rust.

I have desire
this life came quick

and you're the work no one missed
  always were,

But not be.
I fought my battles

  Fighting you mean

My point stands

  On foundations of lies
I keep you from an Icarus demise.
  Grounded is good.

Whats wrong with the sky?

  Don't look too hard
  you know that's for those
  born
  with a god in sight

That was a choice.

  Cue, consequence.

****, conscience.

  No. Confidence.
Its been really hard lately...

Skills.
polyratic May 2018
I have a few,
like burning a good future.
Losing love
loving lots
spiraling in confusion.

Blinding rage,
petty sayings
a quiet vocal range.

Lackadaisical,
completely forgettable,
earn below the average joe.

I write,
I draw,
both subpar
I can't drive a car.

I can hide in a smile
lie with my eyes
and never really cry.

Overweight,
out of shape,
hoodie shaped,
never took a family break.

Mnm wants me to,
but never said I'd go far.
Won't ever date.
Usually believes in fate,
not holy gates.

my skillset so far.
I've always had skills.

8 secs.
polyratic May 2018
8 secs,
to terminate
the world that I knew

8 secs slow
only need a small few
to establish this curfew
next to his curfew

your God,
he saw you,
happy with your ways
his forgiveness lets you live life your way

did you ask for mine ?
just killing time ?
break time; the status
forget our timeline

but I'd rather you be happy
just a weakness I have
you get used to the pain
after this many steps in vain

this will keep you happy
fall in love with your sunshine and rays
. . . . . . . .
took me more than 8 secs that day
to remember better days

keep that glow in your voice
while I bleed tears for every dot on this page

Her Communion
polyratic Nov 2017
The crucifix eyes
all in sight
leave my side
in hellfire, you'll lie

  Bubbling tissue
  filled the sink
  warm and ready
  for the ****** to drink

Quiet my child
he created my snake
the only sin you make
are the sounds that escape

  Will I sin
  or will I survive
  this strife
  with a soulless life

Abandon your culture
you have the book
ignore the past
keep on your boots

  The time is near
Your redemption is there
  I swallow the fear
you won't tear
Any God I had is not here
Fear not my child, father will save you
Fear not Father, I’ll save myself

  When god is the killer
  And man his own saint
How can you judge my reaction
To this blood in my sink
This is not a personal story, just a scenario on my mind.

Paradiseland
polyratic Oct 2017
Limestones, 1492
history was made for all of you
discovering treasures
uncovering coves

battering brains, crushing skulls.

A fact from you, delivered to us
your bloodlines; Adam to Kings
Backed by documents
and ancestry swabs

we have ideas and whip stings.

You have your treasure
cotton and all
this paper we were given
couldn’t cut rust

limestones 1492, they lost history to you.

Blind by the tourist
ignoring the past
live the people

Tonight and tonight alone
I propose once and for all
You may be the one I love most of all

But to have you forever mine
Is a choice I fear to make
It may conceive heartaches
That no couple should ever take

The leaves of my everlasting tree
Seem to be evergreen
No matter how hard I try
No leaves ever wither and die
They stare me in the face and mock

But are you the flower bud at the top?
One of the many goals of all my struggles?
Is this a decision that will lead only to trouble?
Are you as true to me as you say you are?

I can't have you as I am
I'm just a wreck on a promised land
Will you wait for me
Wait am I rushing into this

A Pieces instinct?
You can find another
Many are better than me

Physically
Mentally
Even wealthy
I'm trying to conquer this tree

To be perfect
I need you to see
That I can't see the flower
Unless I pick these leaves

So many leaves to pick
So many times I will slip
So many flowers I overlook

I move up slowly
Foot after
Foot after
Foot

One day this tree will make my book
So I'll climb regardless
Embrace it all
hardships and darkness

Just to get to you
Success is necessary
To have a woman like you

— The End —
