It was there at last,
Crowds chanting fast,
Rows of cheers,
Echoed by peers,
On a winning show meant for victory.

It was there at last,
All the toil of the past,
All the bruises with the cast,
All the people I've trust,
Waiting for the call of our hard-earned victory.

Once, at last,
The announcement has passed,
And our faces aghast,
By the fate of our cast;
Silent in news of almost our victory.
We trained so hard. We practiced on rest days. We performed our very best, and yet we fail the contest of our labored victory.

Right when you wake up, for one second you feel like everything is okay but then you remember everything and everything changes. You remember wanting to die last night, you remember taking those pills and then disappointed it didn't work. Remembering what your life feels like.

I ask you
'how have you been? Isn't this your favorite drink?'
but also
'I hope I'm not trying too hard'
I know I probably overthink

You say
'I had a great time with my friends. We had so much fun'
Sending a picture
'how was your weekend?'
Isn't that a strange mixture?

I grasp for something deeper still
Aren't you too?
I can't be the only one here that wants and will
Clearly you want to share as much as I do
So shouldn't you be willing also?

Why claiming, wanting
but then feel distant
Why do I feel like I need to be hunting
for anything resembling something subsistent
I don't want to feel like constantly being insistent

You are clear of mistakes.
Innocent.
You are as helpful as ever.
And that made me mad.
You were just being the best mother ever that I could ever have.
You were just being the best Father I ever would have.
Yet, I just couldn't see eye to eye with you through the virtual bridge.
You were just being the cutest grandmother ever.
Yet I shouted at you.
Glued to the screen.
My insides are screaming me to stop.
And yet I keep going.
Yet I disobeyed you.
And I didn't feel anything...
How could I?
"I've let you down..."
I said to those I have wronged, into the air of my parents colourless bedroom...
Sorry....
I just have to let you guys down...sorry.
Sorry my parents.
Sorry grandmother.
Sorry sister.
Sorry helper.
Sorry God.
Sorry people who I didn't and haven't been the kindest to.
Sorry....

If I can't be your Daughter,
then I won't be your son.
Forget the shame and
just move on.
The next time you won't see me
I'll be wearing a skirt
and not doing just to please you
would just hurt.

By letting you go there's
nothing I lose,
I care not what you think,
nor of your views.
You should've known anyway,
"A Mother knows" or so they say.
You've run out of time,
I won't wait anymore.
So go and tell that to
the other four.

In fact they too are to leave me alone,
don't knock on my door
and don't try to phone.
You've ignored me too long and
in that time I've grown.
In fact, you've taught me
how to live alone.
The Woman I am has no
fear anymore.
Now walk straight through it,
I'm showing you the door.

As comfortable as it might make you.

and I don't have ebola.
I'm a transgender woman and
have been since 14.

Useless love

I’m so full of useless love; nobody wants it.
They can have it for free; I can’t even give it away.
I’m so sick of this useless love; there is no point,
In being so pessimistically disappointed,
Or even trying to speak about, this hopeless romantic love.  Hooray!
Is not a word I use lightly, only sarcastically.
Misery, my only continuous companion; gone is passion,
For useless love.  Take it all away.

Remove this heart, this useless thing;
This useless love that exists, inside of me.
Remove yourself from my nothing; the bitter waste of your pity.
Keep it all; you need it more, than you will ever need me.
The final fall, worth nothing at all; this useless, useless love.

Loser speaks; says nothing, of interest.
Stop listening to my silence;
Just try your best to be apathetic and not detest.
Just admit that you do not care; join me in my despair.
Go away, I will lock the door.
You will not have to see me crawl
And beg for this useless love, once more.
Just take it all!  This useless love.
I cannot take it at all, anymore.

Stone; gone; pause.

Silly dreams,
Thoughts of perfection.
No mistakes,
No errors,
Just the perfect dream.
The realization hits me.
It is just a dream.
No more.
Reality hits hard.

i want to touch the stars
in the skies
like you touched me—
with all kinds of
steady hands and
breathing confidently.

i wish i could brush stardust
off of my fingertips
like your thigh brushed against mine—
with all kinds of
painful knowing and
just trying to get by.

i would love to watch
you disappear like stars in the
light-polluted
smog-city sky,
but the stars somehow shine
even brighter
in your ocean-colored eyes

so maybe i should start
wishing on stars to
sink,
and drown,
and die.

That one stare
you gave me from across the room.
Showing me how disappointed
you are that I no longer is yours to keep.

I feel every inch of my body
filled with terror.
Because you blame me
for moving on when you haven't.

You gave me no reason to stay
or obey.
But I will never recover
from your straight, lonely stare.

I hope you now learn
that you can't cut the wings
off the flying bee
and expect it to collect nectar.

For I am no longer present for you.

I was not your sun,nor your moon.
You were the galaxy that I was mesmerized by.
Every color, every star, and asteroid that made you who you were; I knew like the back of my hand.
I counted all the planet's that surrounded your heart.
The shooting stars that made up your eyes and how brightly they twinkled when you spoke.
I named every comet that made you smile, and all the constellations that appeared on your skin.

Light years away, but even so I could see you.
Although never close enough to be apart of you. I was the void.
The one no one wanted to talk about.
I swallowed everything up to be like you yet I was nothing.
I had no moons and no stars.

All my gravitational pull wasn't strong enough to make you mine, but even then would we really be one?

Where a star once burned now remained a black hole. The light was gone.
I no longer shone.
I was invisible.
