"ballad" poems
I am slowly learning to disregard the insatiable desire to be special. I think it began, the soft piano ballad of epiphanic freedom that danced in my head, when you mentioned that “Van Gogh was her thing” while I stood there in my overall dress, admiring his sunflowers at the art museum. And then again on South Street, while we thumbed through old records and I picked up Morrissey and you mentioned her name like it was stuck in your teeth. Each time, I felt a paintbrush on my cheeks, covering my skin in grey and fading me into a quiet, concealed background that hummed “everything you’ve ever loved has been loved before, and everything you are has already been,” on an endless loop. It echoed in your wrists that I stared at, walking (home) in the middle of the street, and I felt like a ghost moving forward in an eternal line, waiting to haunt anyone who thought I was worth it. But no one keeps my name folded in their wallet. Only girls who are able to carve their names into paintings and vinyl live in pockets and dust bunnies and bathroom mirrors. And so be it, that I am grey and humming in the background. I am forgotten Sundays and chipped fingernail polish and borrowed sheets. I’m the song you’ll get stuck in your head, but it will remind you of someone else. I am 2 in the afternoon, I am the last day of winter, I am a face on the sidewalk that won’t show up in your dreams. And I am everywhere, and I am nothing at all.

The Ballad Of Whiskey And ****
I hear stories of an ancient land so pure. I see photographs of bluer than blue skies over a lake of molten gold. I drink kahwa flavoured with almond and saffron and add honey, sweetened by bees from the valley, my hips swaying in a crewel work on wool skirt. I hear songs of freedom, I know people who fled. The muezzin prays for peace over bloodstains and tears while children still play under walnut trees. Clouds gather to pray at Shankaracharya Temple on a mountain dipping its toes into water while empty shikaras speak of visiting ghosts. Mothers whose eyes never tire, looking over the sunset for long lost sons; wives who still lay out their husband’s slippers on a carpet with frayed edges. Postmen deliver letters to addresses long abandoned; a generation of elders, eyes of agate, gnarled fingers, brew tea surrounded by memories of children killed, daughters ***** I write for all people who live in war. I write for the age of innocence to return. I write for soft rain to wash away sin. I write for the return to reason. I write for peace to flutter gently through groves of apricot, almond, apple and walnut. Feel the pain. Hear the refrain. Smell the emptiness. This is now. This is now. This is not in the pages of a fading history text. This is now. This is now.

This is a fictional account, but based On truth for many women. I was, Myself, abused by an ex-boyfriend. --- Here's the ballad of Hammer Hand, I'm here to spread it 'cross the land. He loved to hit, as you can see. What he hit was mainly me. He was a brawler in the day, But I left him where he lay. This is for you gals out there Who are hopeless, in despair, Who are battered, made to kneel, I do this so we both can heal. I say; The drifting rain dissolves sea salt Turning tears into dangled monsoon Under the bleak ballad of dying dawn Where I long for heat unbroken You say; The drifting rain drenches my tiptoe Witching smiles into deranged equinox Upon the downpour of ancient daybreak Where I pray for old snow long sunk All was as if the days faded And morphed into younger sunset It was as if mercy was drained And no one preach as desired The downpour stench though remains constant Of rotting perfume of the rouge graphite You drowsily drip from dowsing fingers, they lit Into pages of burning, dancing melodious lads As will, you may keep those imageries for you And give up old stories as my slumber lyre Whether it is about the burnt down marching boy Or the bloodstained pianist from our ancient joy For the bleak heart aesthetic has affected a new kind of love And the bleak heart aesthetic would never let you feel so certain So please keep your drifting rain of strings During the downpour of the deranged equinox When the snow goes black and slowly sunk Into pages of firespit melodious lads

SONNET FEATURE NUMBER FOUR
You wrote songs for me, You’d give everything for my heart. A month went by, We could no longer stand being apart. You made the trip to see me, And took my breath with your kiss. We were so in love, How the hell did it come to this? You knew I was weak, And couldn’t stand being alone. Without you nothings right, You were my only home. I got scared when the night came, I needed you so bad, and you weren’t there. Sitting here tearing myself apart. Screaming prayers but I knew you wouldn’t care. You weren’t there and it broke my heart, You promised me you’d always be. You said you were going to get me out of here. You said you still loved me but I couldn’t see. I thought love was supposed to heal, And for a while it did. If this is love, how could it hurt so bad? I told you to leave, you said “take care of yourself kid”. And you’re probably right, It wasn’t our time. But how could I “take care” When you weren’t mine? It came down to the fact Being with you hurt just as bad As being without you. I’m trying to forget everything we had. Because the memories are what hurt the most, We were kids high from love, some stupid kid. I need to forget so I can live again, But life won’t be the same, if we end up like this. You made me say “forever”, When you said “always”. I still hope forever will happen, I really thought it would end up that way. Maybe I’ve been stupid, Just some heartbroken fool. A naïve idiot, But now I cry at school. I can’t get through a day, Without wishing you were here. Without feeling so lost I can’t breathe. I know I ****** it up with my fear. “Don’t beat yourself up”, But I’m overcome with guilt. Beating myself up is what I do best. I thought I could stop it with the wall I built. But you got in my veins, I don’t know how it happened. I was so careful, But this is the end. Isn’t it? There's gods all around that pound you While the men in high heels surround you How much longer 'til they've found you? Suzy, do you know what you've done? She had her ways of seduction A femme fatale if there ever was one A high class killer and a smart one But everyone fails once or twice You spent the night in the hacienda Curled up on the white veranda To kingdom come they'd like to send ya Suzy, do you know you're on your own? Tea Talk (or Taking Tea) Jam comes first And then the cream Said the scone from Cornwall To one ‘n’ all Taking tea Milk jug blinked. The teaspoon gasped, Who would have linked The layers of bliss that sweetly kiss With their order between the halves of a scone From Cornwall Where one ‘n’ all Know that the milk is churned Until it’s solid Then we say the cream is clotted. The teapot looked at the scone from Devon Who knows that cream and jam is heaven But only if the cream comes first And then the jam . . . . . My thoughts exactly said the ham From between its sandwich fingers Where it lingers Until it’s time for tea. ‘Are you sure?’ the teacup said To ham within its breaden bed. Saucer asked the cucumber salad, ‘Should jam come first?’ ‘But does it matter?’ said cucumber salad. ‘It’s a ballad So red and white, A symphony of taste Into which to bite. It is so right For those who are taking tea,’ ‘Jam then cream, is what you do,’ Insisted Cornwall’s scone who As we know likes cream to be clotted. But tomato blushed and quickly said, ‘With cream from Devon I am besotted Because we know it’s clotted. . . . . Too. Onion, hearing Cornwall and Devon Knows that cream and jam are heaven . . . . . But jam and cream are bliss Sealed with a kiss that is heaven . . . . .too. The dilemma of order fuels onion’s frustration And onion’s tears lead to prostration For those who are taking tea. What is to be done To solve the question of order Jam first . . . . . or cream? The issue borders On the ridiculous As the layers sweetly intermingle Like the lovers’ kiss As those who are taking tea Bite . . . . . The name Theodore has its Greek anthropologies, Jewish anthropologies and also Germany anthropologies. The Greek anthropological perspective of The name Theodore indeed has something to do with the gods.However, the Greek way of looking at life was a frustrated thinking.To them everything was a god. They had  a plethora of gods; utopia,cacotopia, Thespis, muse, clio, calypso, and Theodore was a half a god like Gabriel who impregnanted Mary on behalf of God as Joseph the cuckold carpenter patiently looked musing the ballad of a cuckold peasant . So Theodore and Gabriel were godsend.I  have not delved to know what it means among the Jews, But am aware of the the cultural and anthropological surroundings of the name Theodore in Germany . It is a name of a male person  signifying extra-masculine behavior. I also write poetry in Deutsch, so i know  substantial cultural values of the people of Germany.  Like in this case the modern  social  naming systems . I am aware of the anthropology of this Deutsch nomenclatural position.Why would link this name to Greeks but not Germany may due to  some silent social and emotional  disposition in Europe  that the  English speaking Europeans have a soft spot for  the Greek culture.While at the same time they become victims of high adrenaline level when exposed to anything Germany. they always get repulsed when the word Germany is mentioned.So one's  thesis on nomenclatural values of the name Theodore depends on which side of European  consciousness one is found; is it Germany friendly consciousness or Germany threatened consciousness? The allegory still remains, of timeless waves in life Turning rock to shifting sands, the sea winds, like a knife. The shivering eyeglasses lazily coating the ground Break way to the budding of the season. To reincarnate is to live the anomaly, The evergreen boughs bend in the wind. Coalescing crystals form dew on our morn To leave a fresh taste, on lips, on tongue. The time is imminent, but the dawn is young, My white Orchid, born to the sun. Simply, optically, it's to weak to touch Unworthy digits, to blind to see. My scarlet levees, to right to feel. The ivory blossom, to right to be real. Under the canopies, the shimmering outline Moves closer until the mirror cracks And our reflections are polymorphicly one, Our hearts still polyamorously two. I yearn to dream of lucid lavender, The aroma surrounds the dream, still dreamed The scent so real, or so it seemed Encapsulating this moment in amber. Until we sleep, until we fly Together. Our wings open to embrace the quilted high. Our mouths embrace to fill the void, Unleash the magic, bathing us in light Bricks and mortar overlap my thoughts But time alone is not a wall. there once was this guy named oedipus of whom it was prophesied that his mother he'd marry, his father he'd **** at a place where three roads were tied. his mother and father discovered their fate and tried to dispose of their son but he ended up in corinthian lands and their efforts were all undone. then a drunk guy ruined his happy facade and to an oracle oedipus went who repeated to him the dank prophesy; he fled corinth, not taking a cent. while on his sojourn away from his home he encountered a party royale which rudely pushed him off of the road, and angered he slaughtered them all. then from that blood soaked three-way path he nonchalantly flew not knowing that his father was the man that he just slew. he continued his journey until he reached thebes where a sphinx held the city hostage so oedipus solved the bird-cat's lame rhyme and released thebes from its ******* as a reward, the people of thebes gave oedipus their widowed queen, unknowingly joining mother and son in a marriage that was unclean. after they ruled for twenty good years, during which four children came, a plague was induced by the sheltering of the man by whom was slain in searching him out, oedipus found that the murderer was really he, so long ago. the man he had killed at the place where were joined roads of three. but by finding this out, he also discovered that his wife and his mother were one. he gouged out his eyes after her suicide; in her own bedroom she was hung. as it turned out, oeddy exiled himself but the seeds of his misery were sewn. so he went to colonus and wandered around and this is the end.
