The scorching of the sun diminished
Black clouds fluffed up the skies
Thunders and lightning hit the drums of change
New winds have traversed in
And the trees danced to their gushy choir
Pearls of rain drops fell down to earth
And the sands have welcomed them with joy
Behold! I have arrived.
The monsoon said.
Jack Jenkins May 2016
Aching heart of love not had,
How I miss the days we had.

Broken apart but whole together,
We were able to hold each other.

But duct tape doesn't work on hearts,
I'm sorry we had such a broken start.

I'm missing you something fierce tonight,
I really wanted this love to last.
But it had died upon arrival...
An older poem from January of 2016. Slightly revised.

Departure
Always bittersweet

Part one --
Flits off the tongue and the teeth
Depa --
Rolling smoothly and richly, whispering through caverns and chasms

Part two --
Harshly invades the palate, like bricks scraping on concrete
Ture --
Severely escaping wind through tree trunks and mountaintops

Linking soft and hard, beginning and end

Departure --
The confusion of words and sounds

the hip children of the night
prey on logos and women,
they have created counterfeit cultures
made from images of yore
slipped their flesh under blankets
next to lovers or empty space
and declared war against
their own human race
chased down roads in eclectic threads
hollering into the wind with wild hair
that navigate over skin unaware of
history and tradition.

while the feral animals look on with
muted colors and salivate
with a thirst to apply
their instincts,
their tendencies
to seek out the enemy
instead of calmly waiting
for their alarming arrival.

I can't change
departure into arrival
or vice versa
I find myself
to do one thing
I can feel affection

Ask a guy to come over
with the unspoken implication
of *** in your invitation
and he jets over in record time.
But ask him to come help
with something you need done,
a serious task without promise of fun,
and watch the clock tick away
the minutes without his arrival.

you and i
were made by satan,
doomed since we were born,
destined to go to hell.
you will burn holes
in my skin with your mouth,
and i will not
extinguish the flames
on my skin,
demons are impatiently
waiting for our arrival
after death.
