pimping the poor.
starving the young.
killing the old.
robbing the Lord.
Praising the devil.
Denying the truth.
Living a lie.
Dreams destroyed.
Reality is a struggle.
Life is hard.
Death must be easy
Past haunts our future.
Wonder is there a future for the youth.

Reggae
Poetictunes Mar 2016
My amusement comes from the music.
Every riddim that flows freely.
The bass go boom boom boom.
Every tune blooms open like flowers in the summer.
The sound of the drummer; and the tempo from the bass
The mellow vibe vibrations soothes all frustration.
Relaxation.
Its live and jive.
And it makes my hips sway.
I'm talking about di gud ol reggae.

I bet you think all ****** smoke ****.

I bet you think all ****** are the same.
I bet you think all ****** are the blame.

I bet you think ****** don't know nothing about the law.

I bet you think all ****** are from the streets.
I bet you think, oh ****, this poem is getting really deep.

I bet you think all ****** carry a heat.
I bet you think all ****** are dead beats.

I bet you think ****** are thugs.
I bet you think all ****** sell drugs.

I bet think all ****** are classless with statuses of madness
I bet you think all ****** are cashless.

I bet you think all ****** are in the penitentiary.
I bet you think all ****** are cemetery.

I bet you think all ****** rap or trap.
I bet you think all ****** sag their pants with two rags and a stockin' cap.

A sista
Poetictunes Feb 2016
What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see a black girl who's confined by the long length of her weave and her lashes?
Or do you see a strong black intelligent girl who's sophisticated and classy?
When I walk its like smooth jazz but sassy.
I might roll my neck when I speak,
and put z's on the end of my words.
Truth is, I didn't grow up in the suburbs.
But, don't be fooled by my looks.
And, No I did not attend a private school
but, I can school all of you fools by the books.
Cause the color of my skin does not define the person I am within.
So I ask our black men,
What do you see when your looking at a sister like me?
Is it my lips or my hips?
My brown eyes or my thighs?
That attracts your eyes when you see me walking.
I am not to be categorize nor critized,
Cause I am, the coca carmel syrup
That's sweeter than orange pumpkin pies.
Strength lies within this temple,  you must not know.

Can you help your black brother push even when he's stuck.
Can you pick him up even when he's down.
Can you build him up after society has teared him down.
Can you love him even after the world has hated him from over four hundreds ago.
Can you love your brother?
Because our black men need our black women.

When we were Kids
Poetictunes Dec 2015
I remember back in the day when we stuck and broke the curfew rules.
We tried hanging with big kids but they were too cruel.
You remember when we tried to puff the smoke.
Try’na hang with the local crew and act like we were tough.
Man those days were fun but life in the hood was rough.
We didn’t realize that the times we cruel,
We just had our fantasy dreams, that one day we’d rule.
We used to kick it afterschool and spit raps in cyphers,
Knowing school was over, it used to get us all hyper.
Man you was funny sometimes corny,
But you still made me laugh.
Remember when we stole chips and candy from Moe’s old store,
We got grounded a week doing house chores,
I thought we’d never see the sunshine again.
I miss those days.
Especially because your not here.
I tell those stories often
because the memories are dear.
You was my main friend.
Thanks for everything.
Rest in peace.

Last Call.
Poetictunes Dec 2015
I deleted your number like a minute ago,
But I'm still in it cause it's hard for me to let you go.
I calculated the hours,
And approximately, it takes a day to stop relishing on the moments we shared.
It takes just about a hour to calm my thoughts of you.
And just a second to have a urge to call on you.

I can't lie I missing kissing on you.
I guess I'm addicted to your love.
A drug;
You gave me chills,
what a thrill.

Im tripping off more than drugs,
I gotta be real,
I miss the good morning hugs.
And the after feel,
I miss the feeling we get when we used to hold hands.
I tried texting,
I tried tried calling.
Maybe I should stop because I feel myself falling.
I promise this is my last call.

Leave a message at the tone.......

When the time together becomes a bore.

When you start to figure your'e not the only girl he adores.

As you realize the kisses aren't sweet how the used to be

As you lie there in his arms perhaps your heart will feel like it doesn't belong.

And when you remember the memories you shared from this song, you'll start to cry.

When the fun nights out are no longer shared with you.

You'll be sitting alone asking,
"what did I do?".

Nothing will be same, not even text messages.

When you send the I love you text, just know he's texting his ex.

And he'll probably get to you in a sec.

With a response like, you too.

   Sweetie, cheaters will be cheaters.
And there always be him and two of you.

Walls Can Talk
Poetictunes Dec 2015
These walls can talk
They tell me your'e insecure.
These walls can talk they tell me your'e not sure.
You was abused and misused.
Utterly confused, you refuse to be reused.
Pain afflicted,
Mind conflicted.
My brain was consumed by depression and the pressure of impressions.
You keep all the pain bottled inside, you need to express your expressions.
The lessons we learn are the tests we fail,
I can tell you tired and weak.
If These walls could speak,
They'd tell me all of your secrets and lies.
I can feel your pain kept inside.
Gold lives inside of you.
You was suicidal, your mind was the devil's bridal.
Face down at my feet, but im still undefeated.
I needed my space but somehow you got deleted.
These walls are colored,
But I'm surrounded by white walls that try to keep me closed in.
I talk to God like I was Moses friend.
I feel the walls closing in.
Walls can talk.

Words Kill
Poetictunes Dec 2015
These words they jumble together,
They stumble wherever.
Tumbling out of my mouth,
Perhaps saying the wrong thing.
Words sting,
They are like knives cutting at your skin.
Words can scar,
Words can burn,
Words can destroy,
Words can ****,
So be careful with your flow of words and where they spill.
Words are powerful. I know for a fact that words hurt and they affect us in so many ways.

Who's the Blame
Poetictunes Dec 2015
Who's to blame for a young boy who thinks violence is fun
He chose to drop out and play with guns
And when he see the police he duck off then run
Daddy left him for a quick fix and a few bucks
People tell him he's just a bad kid with no luck
His home boys call him a coward with no guts
If he chooses not to do drivebys or stick ups
they tease him and call him the boy with no nuts
Pressured to be impressive
So he follows the wrong crowd.
But at least they tell him that
he's made them proud
Nobody never cared
So hung around with the thugs, and even though they sold drugs
They showed a young brother how it feels to be loved
They didn't judge a brother by look or books
But gave a young brother a chance
A few grams and grands in his hands
The streets gave him hope
Even though he sold dope
It felt good to have money still rolled up
He remembered those parent conferences where his parents never showed up
So who's to blame?
For a young brother who's lost in the game
Proud of his shame
Forgotten his name
Introduced to money,
drugs and gangs
Now that's the life of a young *****
Who parents never showed him how does it feel to be loved
So don't sit around and say those cops want my baby dead when you was the one that killed him
Could have said
a prayer for him to heal him
Should've gave him a hug but now he's dead he and you can't feel him.
So Who's the blame ?

Probably blacker than
The hole in my soul.

My skin is black,
