Lo Que Siento
Dagen Kipling Oct 2019
When I am with you, lo que siento?
I feel like I can drive as fast as possible,
with no desire to drive slow

When I am with you, lo que siento?
I feel as if there is no place we cannot traverse,
baby, just tell me where we should go

When I am with you, lo que siento?
I feel like a young sapling thirsty to be nurtured.
You are my water, allowing me to grow

When I am with you, lo que siento?
I feel like a child waking up in the early winter hours,
thrilled to find a lovely landscape blanketed in snow

When you are with me, love,
como te sientes?

Barefoot in the Park
Dagen Kipling Oct 2019
barefoot in the park,
red leaves crunch beneath her feet.
our favorite spot once its dark,
passion shrouded in deceit.

run to me, for I cannot wait.
just a touch my body aches.
please don’t be late
for time will seal all fates.

drenched in pale moonlight
illuminating every feature
you truly are such a lovely sight,
one of gods perfect creatures

autumn leaves rosy and golden,
to be blessed by your presence
I am eternally beholden.
life with you, eternally pleasant.

muse
Dagen Kipling Sep 2019
pen slipped
ink spilled

    dripping onto a blank canvas
begging to be filled

cover her with with words and ideas
force yourself to stop, sit still

    let the creativity flow
absence from you, I feel ill.

     my muse please don’t go
without you, I have no skill.

Pride
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
Pride is not just a month,
Pride is a way of life.

To live a life of Pride
is to show all the people
who called you names,
that you could care less
about their ignorant opinion.

Pride is not just a month.
It is love.

Drinking Alone
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
alarm blaring,
head pounding,
eyes dry,
heart still sore.
this is
the aftermath of
another night
of drinking alone.
I still don’t know how much whiskey it may take
to forget you.

writers block
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
I’m stuck watching
as prose dances around my neurons.

rhymes waltzing around my frontal lobe
twirling and dipping to the occipital.

I have been betrayed by the only thing
that brought me comfort.

writing was my drug of choice
but now it’s the reason I drink.

please, God let me write again.

Crave
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
I crave your attention,
feed me with your beautiful gaze.
sitting in a world of suspension
fighting to find my way out of the maze.

Just please answer this
How can i make you love me?
Because I currently am amiss
on why I am the one you cannot see.

Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
open up your mind for me
let me in,
tell me your biggest
secrets,
and darkest fears.
open your mind
and watch me fall in love.

Lazy Sundays
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
I miss the lazy Sundays with you,
lounging around with out care.

our extremities intertwined
like grape vines ripe for harvest.

Drifting in and out of sleep
high off the scent of each other.

I miss the days you cared enough
to make time for our lazy Sundays.

The Virgin
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
The ****** lays in her bed
of white
She falls to sleep to fly
with the kites

    Her arms caress the sky
She got her wish she can fly

Then one day she
was greeted by Icarus
And his kiss was sweeter
than licorice

He coerced her to soar even higher
And she listened, he was no liar

The sun gazed as she
changed her colors
No more white,
sorry mother

She wraps herself up in blood red
After she fell from the sky like lead

No more ******, no more
innocence
All to give herself to his
blissfulness

The heavens know all things must end
But this act she cannot mend

For she can never
take it back
Now she has fallen
with a smack

New York
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
She was New York.
And you were LA.

         She was willing to drive
across the whole country for you

But you wouldn’t do the same.
Now she is with Chicago.

         And you’re sitting
         stuck in LA.

My Storm
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
Blood boiling,
    rage waiting.
    Be my relief,
   a cool glass of
    calm.

Nicotine Ice
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
Lungs burning,
    cigarette ash falling,
    grey man-made flakes of snow.

They waltz through air
    as they plummet down
    to the black concrete.

I catch my breath, as
    my heart slips on
    nicotine ice in my veins.

Nudged one step closer
    to the edge,
    but today I walk away.

An Old Fashion
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
I winced as the old fashioned
fell from the glass to my throat.

A river of drink carving its way though my
teeth, unfolding its sails on its boat.

The hatred of the taste overridden
by the aching need to cope.

The elixir produces a heat inside
creating a haze inside my mind.

I have slowly begun to crave this escape
waiting till I hold that precious potion in my grasp.

Please whiskey and rye bring me happiness,
for I cannot take much more sadness.

This drink brought me comfort I have only felt
within my mothers arms.

I grow and evolve in this bar, warm and humid
like the womb I had escaped oh so many years ago.

But as I evolve so does my dependence on this drink
crafted with care, poured so slow.

I watched in my drunken haze as my bartender becomes
my personal warden.

I am serving time within the walls of this bar.
A means for escape has evolved into imprisonment.

I would have never guessed that this drink
would take control of me.

Take Your Pill
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
Take your pill
whether you need to chill
or looking for a thrill
Take your pill

The pill holds me
I know now I cannot be free
Oh, such a steep fee
The pill holds me

The pill made me feel good
now I feel like rotten wood
knowing I can’t feel like I should
The pill made me feel good

The pill put me in the ground
now they throw flowers on the mound
and my mother won’t make a sound
The pill put me in the ground

Take your pill
please, take your pill
it’s ok it’s not made to ****
Take your pill

Fellow Kings
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
I take my seat among fellow kings sitting down into the damp dew
My thighs tingle as the droplets dance upon my skin
Gathering the strength of the water hoping to grow
Gravity draws my frown as I stare at my kin

Looking straight into their hearts, not tall enough for eyes
I long to catch their gaze as a bird longs for its own nest
Far off in the distant the crow perches watching, and cries
I look at it and curse thinking its a laugh, a jest

The sharp sting of rejection lasts two centuries
Why am I too low to sit at the level of Olympus
The need for acceptance grows within me, and festers
I stare off into the distance to ignore the looks so vicious.

Bitterness has set in like the first snow of winter
The coldness is as intense as the fire I lay in at night.
I have had enough and I weep as my body receives the last splinter
Surrender, I surrender this is it I am done with the fight.

Roses and Rumors
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
She smelled of roses and rumors.
I found her in the grass among snakes.

Her soul was made of matches and,
she knows my love of playing with fire.

How can a woman of such passion
find solace in my worn down abode.

I have yet to find that answer,
hoping one day she will call my heart home.

Whiskey Waterfalls
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
Words burning my throat
    the same burn
    as the shot of whiskey.
    Waterfalls of ethanol
    trying to drown my sins.
    But they have learned to
    swim.

Black Coffee
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
You’re my morning cup
of black coffee.
A taste of reality
with that bitter bite.
Finding the beauty in
the harsh flavor.
You are not perfect.

-But you are, to me.

Simple
Dagen Kipling Jun 2018
A fountain of rain
falls from her hair the way
men jump from airplanes.
Droplets plummet to her shoulders
and roll off towards her fingers.
Water streaks her body,
painting her with a cold damp
brush. She stands there cold
and shivering but will not move.
So stubborn. Why is she
an evergreen withering a storm.

Simple, she wants to show
her demon, he has not won.
