A piece of you Reflecting back The bitter words in your mouth Too raw to speak A poet is Someone in pain And someone in love Someone who looks at the world Through a kaleidoscope Who takes a magnifying glass to each And every Word you say And lets them imprint on their heart A poet is A star gazer A dreamer A chaser of The improbable But hopes anyway A poet is Tissue paper skin A heart of glass And a soul of titanium A poet is A sharp tongue And a gentle kiss She is a sob He is a sigh A poet is The sun at midnight Bright and Burning Hot Alive But cloaked in a darkness They cannot shake The brightest day And the darkest night A poet is The human experience A paradox An oxymoron So complicatedly Simple A poet is A lover Who refuses To stop wearing their heart on their sleeve No matter how much it bleeds But rolls them up So you can’t see The blood stains A poet Is Poetry

A Poet Is
In the night, those shadows come alive. So little do i know about this heavy doubt. Cold wind biting the heart. Trying to figure out where I've been. Dark winter pulls me closer, now theres a place i'm thinking into the air. A voice calling, "Who knows but that which seems omitted today, waits for tomorrow?" Nothing is as it seams, just as beauty leans from the earth in a sunset--a harp for the soul to sing. But You are life and you are the veil. Beauty is eternity gazing at her self But you are eternity and you are the mirror. And if you want to know truth retire of solving riddles. We wanderers, ever seeking the lonelier way, begin no day where we have ended another day; and no sunrise finds us where sunset left us. Even while the earth sleeps we travel, back into dreams. Ay, my bow rests on my chest. There is the flame spirit among a starry mountainside. Oh it was but yesterday we met in a dream. You watched as I built a ship towards your shore. My spirit goes wandering upon the wind, off to the desert sands, deep beneath the ocean's sound. I am the gypsey and the fortuneteller, liken an honest thief. No I'm the myth builder and dream master. who laughs with me when I destroy, the sand castles of my innocence. The sun warming my back just as the wicked, and drawing my image locked in a shadow. Here the soul a battlefield, where reason and passion become one. they are the sails of my seafaring soul. There I found the naked body of my dreams, in silent sleep my spriit walked the path. I am the star-gazer who feels the power of endlessness, Aware of timelessness and neverending space. The love in me still present amidst the scattered fires that burn in black ink. Just as the caveman draws his fears on lost walls, speaking of misfortune and treasures gallore. A fantom ghost in Hade's Fate. Now my ship wanders forever on a pearlous course but never sinking.

Stars sprinkle the inky night sky Like crumbs of diamonds on a still, midnight ocean. I am not afraid to be here, alone, In the vastness of twilight. For these few moments, time is as long As the space between those stars, And as empty, too. The uncertainty that sunrise will follow. As sure as the sun is destined to rise everyday, When there's only darkness surrounding you, Pierced slightly by the silvery glow of moonlight... You're all alone and helpless. You only have the vague hope that the sun will return. And as I sit here now, star-gazer, Faceless nomad on the damp grass; I feel immortal, and I am afraid That I will always be alone with the stars.

Nocturne [NaPoWriMo #17]
As Autumn approaches, my mind drifts to the decaying leaves, Halloween, the cool, crisp breeze... The communal understanding that eternal heaven comes only with death— that Summer must always go. And that beloved Autumn must always usher in bitter Winter who lays the foundations for an exalted Spring. Oh hell...I hope for a long Autumn, I want to make it stay— like a host who lectures his party guest for too long so he won't look at his watch. Oh how I need the frumpy sweaters and pumpkin heads on window sills! Oh how I need the billowing steam from milky beige cocoa, the misty light rain in the gray of the morning, the high canopy of fleshy red flakes! And echoes of children laughing as they eat candy on their way home from trick-or-treating—reminding me that life can be enjoyed with sacred rituals and good company. I need Autumn personified— a cool-headed, crackling-fireplace-girl. A quilt-maker, cloud-gazer, two-dogs-and-a-cat bookworm. Someone comforting like oatmeal. Someone surprising like the first day of school. I need Autumn. I need Autumn but it never seems to need me too.

Ah, Autumn...
He is that high, dazed and alive When you spend hours stealing Glimpses at the stars Like keys wrapped around a promise To free you from these bars Limitations placed so certainly On top of you on top of me I seek my way out Like a star gazer seeks understanding I’m planning on playing my hand just right Putting you next to me King of hearts at my side Or maybe you are a joker, Either way put on your poker face We have life and space, set no pace Like untimed steps under A fall to far Sing to me a jazzy song From a time that’s far, Dance with me Dance along, move your feet Make no promise you can’t keep Just feel it It’s like freedom but on fire Like trust without certainty Acrobat without a wire Like letting go A grand release Like fearlessness A found voice to speak Passions pushed blood to cheek Blushing past shades of pink Pull you in, close to me Fearless in you and me Just fearless

FEARLESS
If you're the moon with your phases Then I'm a star gazer, mesmerised by the view.. And if your 'ring of Saturn' falls out I'd go up there myself and find one more suited for you And how does it feel to have a face that so many call home?.. Cause for three sleepless nights, this 'homeless girl' gave up everything just to write you a poem.. Oh I've been struggling, I've been staring at the page for ages, Trying to find the most honest way to say this.. See every time you touch my heart I feel it breaking So I will never let you know.. But you are so beautiful, I can't take it And no I won't stop believing That everyone comes into your life for some kind of reason.. But I'm not using you to write, I'm using you as a source for breathing though every time I see you I fall to pieces.. ..But every piece is in awe with you So would you collect them and adore me too? Oh I just can't describe this.. If there was a metaphor you know I'd write it.. You make me lost for words but I won't stop trying, In hope of finding new parts of you, Oh you are so beautiful, I don't like it Cause it ties knots in my stomach. And then my heart beat drains out the city but I can't stop it.. Is this a horrible poem cause I'm just being honest.. And though adrenaline is supposed to keep me going, Oh you are so beautiful I can't focus So don't get too close for comfort Cause I love you so much my heart hurts, And it's a pain my heart could take If you just stay and take the pain away And your little smile could go to the end of the world, And I'd whisper your name if it was the end of the world, ..And I have writers block so I don't know what rhymes with 'end of the world', But don't let me go even when you're someone else's girl Cause you'll still always be this loser's world :') .. And if I'm a stargazer mesmerised by the view, Then I hope every constellation will add up to you.

Across an ocean of canvas white A stroke of beauty comes to light The patterns even, contrast, and fair Complexity in the mind created with care Do not allow a single smear To blotch the canvas and make unclear What blossoms made with hand and mind What intricacies you will find A root of commons grown within of Artist and Gazer's ken Now engrossed with personal thought Through paintings on canvas, connection is sought.

To Paint
With every set, my anxious heart beats with silver Each of the beats, counting away the reign of the sun Before finally taking my shift as guardian of the night sky In my entirety, pulses of incandescent blood does run As the sun leaves, I rise and and take my rightful place I'd find my usual nook on my bed of black Surrounded by familiar friends scattered all over A million jewels spilling out of heaven's sack I'd silently watch the earth, reaching with gentle translucent fingers Silver searchlights scour the lands, I harvest all in view But my beams were never meant for others Do believe that... I've saved them only for you Amongst the sea of hopefuls, I'd always find yours Looking up with my reflection branded into those eyes Let us merge our dreams of mercury and red Rest in the cradle of my light, as I soothe all your cries Dear Moongazer, it's been a few nights now Bound by my predestined orbit, I can't help but turn away Believe that I am resisting with all that I have in me Unseen defiance in this futile fight so that longer I'd stay Several more had passed... I feel the promise of fate encroaching The crushing weight of universe's anvil bearing down Tearing a little at a time, leaving me lesser than whole Now I'm half draped in darkness' gown As the nights go by, I've long been eaten I peer from my side as I float a slim silver crescent The time has arrived, my love, I shall leave you in the company of the stars They will keep you safe even if they seem indifferent Fully turned away, I now see only fresh new hearts They all sing the same but none like you Still I glow to rekindle their hopes and dreams But what I long is for this tour to be through After what seemed like an eternity, I'm coming back round Looking for your beacon as I shine bright and clear Let our entities intertwine as the moon and her gazer *I am your lunar love...                                     and I am here...* .

Sweet day, so cool, so calm, so bright! The bridal of the earth and sky— The dew shall weep thy fall to-night; For thou must die. Sweet rose, whose hue angry and brave Bids the rash gazer wipe his eye, Thy root is ever in its grave, And thou must die. Sweet spring, full of sweet days and roses, A box where sweets compacted lie, My music shows ye have your closes, And all must die. Only a sweet and virtuous soul, Like season’d timber, never gives; But though the whole world turn to coal, Then chiefly lives.

Virtue
I shall gather myself into myself again, I shall take my scattered selves and make them one, I shall fuse them into a polished crystal ball Where I can see the moon and the flashing sun. I shall sit like a sibyl, hour after hour intent, Watching the future come and the present go— And the little shifting pictures of people rushing In tiny self-importance to and fro.

Two Songs For Solitude: The Crystal Gazer
The quiet August noon has come, A slumberous silence fills the sky, The fields are still, the woods are dumb, In glassy sleep the waters lie. And mark yon soft white clouds that rest Above our vale, a moveless throng; The cattle on the mountain's breast Enjoy the grateful shadow long. Oh, how unlike those merry hours In early June when Earth laughs out, When the fresh winds make love to flowers, And woodlands sing and waters shout. When in the grass sweet voices talk, And strains of tiny music swell From every moss-cup of the rock, From every nameless blossom's bell. But now a joy too deep for sound, A peace no other season knows, Hushes the heavens and wraps the ground, The blessing of supreme repose. Away! I will not be, to-day, The only slave of toil and care. Away from desk and dust! away! I'll be as idle as the air. Beneath the open sky abroad, Among the plants and breathing things, The sinless, peaceful works of God, I'll share the calm the season brings. Come, thou, in whose soft eyes I see The gentle meanings of thy heart, One day amid the woods with me, From men and all their cares apart. And where, upon the meadow's breast, The shadow of the thicket lies, The blue wild flowers thou gatherest Shall glow yet deeper near thine eyes. Come, and when mid the calm profound, I turn, those gentle eyes to seek, They, like the lovely landscape round, Of innocence and peace shall speak. Rest here, beneath the unmoving shade, And on the silent valleys gaze, Winding and widening, till they fade In yon soft ring of summer haze. The village trees their summits rear Still as its spire, and yonder flock At rest in those calm fields appear As chiselled from the lifeless rock. One tranquil mount the scene o'erlooks-- There the hushed winds their sabbath keep While a near hum from bees and brooks Comes faintly like the breath of sleep. Well may the gazer deem that when, Worn with the struggle and the strife, And heart-sick at the wrongs of men, The good forsakes the scene of life; Like this deep quiet that, awhile, Lingers the lovely landscape o'er, Shall be the peace whose holy smile Welcomes him to a happier shore.

When the Present has latched its postern behind my tremulous stay, And the May month ***** its glad green leaves like wings, Delicate-filmed as new-spun silk, will the neighbours say, “He was a man who used to notice such things”? If it be in the dusk when, like an eyelid’s soundless blink, The dewfall-hawk comes crossing the shades to alight Upon the wind-warped upland thorn, a gazer may think, “To him this must have been a familiar sight.” If I pass during some nocturnal blackness, mothy and warm, When the hedgehog travels furtively over the lawn, One may say, “He strove that such innocent creatures should come to no harm, But he could do little for them; and now he is gone.” If, when hearing that I have been stilled at last, they stand at the door, Watching the full-starred heavens that winter sees, Will this thought rise on those who will meet my face no more, “He was one who had an eye for such mysteries”? And will any say when my bell of quittance is heard in the gloom, And a crossing breeze cuts a pause in its outrollings, Till they rise again, as they were a new bell’s boom, “He hears it not now, but used to notice such things?”

Afterwards
It is a sultry day; the sun has drunk The dew that lay upon the morning grass; There is no rustling in the lofty elm That canopies my dwelling, and its shade Scarce cools me. All is silent, save the faint And interrupted murmur of the bee, Settling on the sick flowers, and then again Instantly on the wing. The plants around Feel the too potent fervours: the tall maize Rolls up its long green leaves; the clover droops Its tender foliage, and declines its blooms. But far in the fierce sunshine tower the hills, With all their growth of woods, silent and stern, As if the scorching heat and dazzling light Were but an element they loved. Bright clouds, Motionless pillars of the brazen heaven,-- Their bases on the mountains--their white tops Shining in the far ether--fire the air With a reflected radiance, and make turn The gazer's eye away. For me, I lie Languidly in the shade, where the thick turf, Yet ****** from the kisses of the sun, Retains some freshness, and I woo the wind That still delays its coming. Why so slow, Gentle and voluble spirit of the air? Oh, come and breathe upon the fainting earth Coolness and life. Is it that in his caves He hears me? See, on yonder woody ridge, The pine is bending his proud top, and now Among the nearer groves, chestnut and oak Are tossing their green boughs about. He comes! Lo, where the grassy meadow runs in waves! The deep distressful silence of the scene Breaks up with mingling of unnumbered sounds And universal motion. He is come, Shaking a shower of blossoms from the shrubs, And bearing on their fragrance; and he brings Music of birds, and rustling of young boughs, And sound of swaying branches, and the voice Of distant waterfalls. All the green herbs Are stirring in his breath; a thousand flowers, By the road-side and the borders of the brook, Nod gayly to each other; glossy leaves Are twinkling in the sun, as if the dew Were on them yet, and silver waters break Into small waves and sparkle as he comes.

emotions scattered on a page; manipulating letters to form feelings. in a world with so much to give, all I could offer were words. a beautiful soul like yours deserves endless compassion. love is honest. love is kind. love is patient. love is everything I am not. you've crept and crawled into the deepest cavity of my heart. a baby bird nestled in the comfort of their home. words that flow like freshwater down a stream are all I could offer. as I tried to be the mama bird nestling and caring, I realized I'd only let you down. many nights I lay awake, with the trials and tribulations fencing in my head. you saw a beauty in me I had lost sight of myself. I saw a beauty in you You never realized existed. you are flawless. a beautiful swan resting and gliding upon crystal clear water that is life. in every such way you represent perfection. a masterpiece discovered by an unknown artist who is me. you are fire; sparks sparkling and embers flashing. mesmerizing every gazer who glimpses. you are marvelous and you are radiant.

a navel gazer hits back
This is not a love poem. I spotted you walking up the rugged, asphalt laden path, Before the streetlamps could steal their first glimpse. I beat them to you. She seemed to befriend the darkness. Out of this gratitude, she was cloaked in the garments of the night sky. Holding all of the characteristics of a falling star, All but one singularity. Her light never extinguished. Her flame never ceased to burn. And there stood I, a simple gazer of constellations. Trapped in her universe, But not imprisoned. I wish upon her; My plummeting star. I fell for you first. Perish the thought, Any that come to mind. For you see, no star has ever surrendered its sparkle, On behalf of the master of the telescope. And every astronomer, both now, and from the days of yore, Has been afflicted by this injustice.

You are like middle class meets star gazer Your eyes on the sparkle in your dream but you don’t know if its found when you are sleeping or running through your always going, never ending life. Your responsibilities sky high, so much on your plate that you are forgetting that happy is already on your platter you just have to slow down to taste it. Wanted time wasted on the idea that success will bring you happiness. That money is where this is happenen… You are sometimes on the right side, spending time and care instead of money and pulled out hair. Contemplating the weight of the wind, What spirit really means. Exploring where you begin and the universe ends .other times you are all kinds of, I don’t want to say wrong but not right … maybe left, left out of place, left behind your fast paced life, left wondering but not left to think out loud. Not left with feeling right.im not suggesting that you should run in circles but if right is right then take it. Hold on to your hopes and make it. If you feel like you fake it either quit or fake it tell you make it part of you. You said that you are always in your head, I think you are always in a hum, Seeing the connection in your life and always putting it together wrong. Maybe the stars are where it starts. Maybe they are a map that connects our life with our hearts. Maybe money is just paper, and people are too valuable to break down in such simple transaction. Perhaps middle class means nothing, just like money… because classifying people makes no since. That sentence a lot like money, so alike always boxing people in. you are a successes chaser, not knowing how you define the word. I am trying to give it a definition. But you may replace the word all together, reconfigure a new sentence. This is just a star gazers perspective, to someone who’s self-reflective, here’s just a perplexing statement about what success is. One star gazer to the next one, just let go a little and figure out this conundrum.

Unearthly weightlessness, Bunched abandon, Carelessly clustered, As if ‘He’ planned them To cause star-struck wonder; Defying ‘DIY’ laws Cautiously cradling, The nature of wars- The whispy familiars Of sunset clouds Feed vitamin horizons To unaware crowds.

Cloud Gazer
First page of the next chapter Starts with a sunrise to myself Glowing orange and pink and gold. Moving through time, morphed into a daydream. Sun tan kisses, Long awaited wavy wishes. Summers dawning just in time And waiting on the other side, Were warm, brown blooms  Found for me to float upon. Lake water landing, firm and easy. Foxglove freedom, grew over all the grey. Worries wilted, giving way To liberated light. Star gazer eyes that taste tomorrow, Hold the hand of your marigold mermaid. Learn to love her field wood freedom And her lavender laugh. Little lily touches Inconsistent, yet assured, Shoot their sparks Up to all the spiraling stars. The colors of the cosmos sunset overflow, And bleed their glitter into tomorrow's morning.

July part 1
I want to be the one in their history books the legend around the campfire, a name they won't forget. My heart longs for greatness, my bones rattle at the thought of changing this decrepit rock into something beautiful again. Wherever I turn my eyes, people are breaking on the inside, homes are burning from this pain; I see creation crying for freedom. Can I change anything? This question keeps me awake, weeping in the latest hours, begging God to let me fight. I hear their cries! I see emptiness in their eyes, lost children walking the streets, asking "Why did he leave?" How is it I love those I've never seen? My soul aches for their suffering, there are human beings dying and nobody is doing anything! When they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, It was always a hero, someone who fought for others. All my life I've cared too much, I'm beginning to feel claustrophobic, I was given this big heart, then placed in a little world. I fear I am simply crazy, a senseless romanticist. But I curse my insecurities, they will not **** me! My dreams are impossible, they say it's just my youth, I'll grow out of this heart, and join the rest of society. But I violently refuse! Let me be a light in a dark room, may I bring hope to all who breathe, I give my life to change eternity! ~ Matthew Walker ~

History Shaker or Star Gazer?
Though I style my curly braids with ribbons bright, and colour my sweet moist lips with royal red to look as bright and fair as a newly wed. Though I stand on two towers to get a better height, with eyelashes that beckon at each gazer. Though my trendy gowns make me a trailblazer with great designer labels that distinguish. Though I have curves which men wished they could relish, revealed slightly through my ******** clad frame. Though I have this charm which could hardened hearts tame, making vicious criminals to dream and lust, still I am nothing more than organic dust.

Beauty's Vanity and Worthlessness
Half a world away No closer than two stars half bright Half alive only half the time And I the hapless gazer The amateur enthusiast The wakened soul who cries with the wolves To the moon ‘who am I to gaze’ ‘who am I to covet what I’ve left’ and they, far as the distant cosmos form constellations with pins of flickering light that I’ve never considered before never known or cared to know myths, and names, and stories that I the hapless gazer will only watch with a bleary jealous wonder Passing nomads gaze with me for a moment For a moment let me dress in their clothes Eat from their table Drink from their cup For a moment With the promise of return one day To gaze with me On their terms For one more moment

Gaze
on nights when i feel unwanted i grab my pack and wander in my ugliest underwear i dance on shaking knees a fawn eyed star gazer blowing smoke to the clouds enamored by the particles of my eyelashes, i blink with appreciation of the little things i lose myself on one way side streets in order to get from here to there but i always seem to be a little too late another moment missed.
