A drunken angel,

She, the one seeing the possiblity in every risk.

The both of us were too guarded
Too scared for good things to end
We couldn’t risk it, so we stayed friends
Far too many words left unsaid

We messed around, fooled around
Didn’t expect we’d end up on the ground
Chances lost, never to be found
Who knew this is how it would go down

Tragic how our story went so far
Some things are just better apart
This might be the chance for a new start
Let’s just leave our memories to the stars

Maybe somewhere down the line,
We’d meet and say we’re fine
And we would really mean it this time
Who knows? We might even share a pint

It’s about time we hand this all to fate
Put them in a box and leave it at the gate
Go down the road on our separate ways
And with any luck, I might see you again someday

Some people are like snakes
Or
A poker game with high stakes.
This is by far not my best piece, but I felt this way about some people for a while now.

Repressing your feelings,

   Like I'm repressing mine.

      Pretending we're just friends,

We dare not risk nor cross that line.

Like a prisoner of the past.
Unable to let go.
We like the things that are certain.
It´s easy for us to think,
that nothing can ever be good again.
Because we despise change.
We fool ourselves
to think that everything that we´re used to,
is good for us.
We chain ourselves to the invisible bed
that whispers in all the right tunes.
Tunes that we think we want to hear.
We don´t know better than to listen,
to the safe whispers of the only things
we know are certain.
Why do we listen to the whispers?
Telling us to come closer.
As we trust, in the masked whispers,
we get bitten.
And we bleed.
Yet, we stitch our wounds,
as we lay in the bed,
that we think we deserve to sleep in.

Change, opportunity, difference, risk;
These words have no value in themselves,
They carry no judgement and wear no costume,
But like the moon reflecting the light of the sun,
They shine or gutter with the quality of our own perception.
‘One is never afraid of the unknown; one is afraid of the known coming to an end.’

I sought joy by holding on to pain
Sought freedom by holding on to a chain
Trying to keep track of the time, my lifetime but I'm too scared to watch
I'll see how it passes fast and my dreams I can no longer touch
Tell me you do see the watch on my wrist
Does it show you what wasted, am I at risk?
I'm looking for fame yet I cover my face
I guess my shame brought me to this place

I have climbed the cliff
To gain a chance for praise
Alas, the times I know too well
Are ones where I have fallen
The air itself had parted beneath me
Now to the cold, unwelcoming ground
My body is left to lay

But something sparked in my writhing mind
"Take the leap once more"
Brushing off the fear and dust
My ascent began anew

Before a word was uttered
The ground was far beneath my feet
Left behind with those worthless doubts
Today, I took flight

And when the wind was no longer
Beneath my frail, young wings
Smiling faces met my eyes
Warmed my heart
And caught me
Take a leap of faith, speak out and change the world. The chance to fly in joy is worth the risk of failure, for failure does not last forever. Today I talked to people, shared my thoughts, and for once I was not humiliated for it. I wish it was always this way.

My friend, I would sooner fear the reason why
I did not grasp an opportunity with both hands
And wring the very essence of life from it;
Than I would fear the opportunity itself.
Inspired by an old key chain I rediscovered today - the words 'through unlocked doors' are embossed on the back of it. I think I'll start using it again. :)
