How do I keep this flame alight
How do I keep the rain from my eyes
Will you still want to kiss me when
The lipstick fades
Will you still want to hold me
After getting laid

Why do I give you power over me?
I think it’s time to take it back.

In dusk lies a light,
Sun painted on sea with pride,
A path no one walks.
my very first attempt on Haiku

this is a risk
for I’ve been discovered
In a world of anonymity
My tracks were not covered

I fear I may have said it out loud
To the wind, which carried it fast
I may have given it a bit of fuel
so the journey it would last

Fine, I confess! I threw it to the winds
I knew what would come of it
But I’ll put on a face and gasp and cry
When the words take their hit

No I’m not fake, and this is not me
But I think perhaps it is
I know what I’m doing, I’m no fool
Sanity I do not miss.
After I caught myself saying something just to stoke a fire, and to intrigue people and quickly denied doing so, I decided to make this poem to explore what I was doing.

You may know
cruise control is of no use off-road.

You need both hands
all four by four wheels
and good independent suspension
especially in your posterior region.

Cruise control is useful I suppose
when the road ahead is predictable
and you don't expect the unexpected.

It's not an option
that I've had cause to opt for,

but it's good to know it's there.
Life isn't designed for cruising.
I spotted you alone across the crowded room
With the feelings I thought I would never consume
Who knew that I’d gamble and come out on top
That my mind would cease spinning, and that time would just stop

My plan was to enter the new year without you in it.

To let midnight's fireworks be a mark of leaving 2018 and you behind.

I can't.

It's still you.

I'll take the risk of bringing you with me to next year.

As my grey area.

I'll leave our fate in the hands of 2019.

Love is a hell of a drink.
One sip and it makes
you brave enough to
think you can win
against the world.
It also makes you
paranoid and panic
out of your wits as
you stare into the
eyes of obliteration.
But that’s what love does;
it musters courage and
summons the monsters,
then mixes it into a terrifying
concoction called risk.

I know you’re scared.
I am scared shitless, too.
Let’s get drunk together,
What say you?

Take a chance on me
I'll show you respect
and love,
the beauty
of the azure skies,
you're still worth
figthing for,
hold my hands
and we'll turn
sad memories
into butterflies.

Take a risk on me
I'll be the remedy
to your pain,
the silence
of a moonlit evening,
you're still worth
the wait,
for all changes
are in chaos
and now he's gone,
you'll realize
you've chosen
the wrong one.
