"zoomed" poems
As the sins partied the night away the sun came rising in the country Tranquility.
"Are you ready to spend all eternity together?" Loyalty asked Love as they stood on their balcony. "My dear, dear, husband soon to be, you already know the answer to the question you ask" said Love. As Loyalty and Love stand locked in a warming embrace being kissed by the rays of the sun the two share a kiss of their own. Beep, beep, beep. "Well this is a perfect time for my communicator to beep" said Love. Breaking her embrace with Loyalty, Love answers her communicator. "Hello Faith how are you?" asked Love. "I'm fine Love and how are you?" answered Faith. "I'm ready to start this new era in my life" said Love. "I'm looking over your wedding file. Are there any last minute changes you want to make?" said Faith. "No Faith everything's perfect" said Love. "I'm outside your house waiting on you Love. Let's get going" said Faith. "I'll be right down. I have to go Loyalty" said Love. Grabbing Love by her waist and pulling her close Loyalty whispers in her ear "Are you sure this is what you want?" "I wanted you when I first saw you. Now if you'll excuse me Faith is waiting for me" said Love. When Love exited her house she found Faith hovering in her brand new transporter. "Wow Faith this is beautiful" said Love. "Thank you Love. This is the new Neo 7000. It was the last one left" said Faith. Interrupted by her communicator Faith answers her call from Loyalty. "Hello Loyalty what do you want?" said Faith. "Why you have to ask like that Faith?" said Loyalty. "Just make sure Knowledge have you at the chapel on time. Now if you'll excuse me I have things to do" said Faith. "C'mon Faith we don't have time to play with Loyalty" said Love. Rising higher in the air Faith and Love zoomed away. As they flew through the sky Faith asked Love about her humanitarian organization S.O.U.L. "How was your peace keeping mission in the country Limbo?" asked Faith. "The citizens there had a lot of raw emotions from the war. There is a big scar dividing the country" said Love. "Your organization S.O.U.L. has a lot of strong positive influence. How long has S.O.U.L. been active in the humanitarian field?" asked Faith. "Five years" answered Love. When Faith and Love landed at the chapel Wisdom was waiting for them. "Love and Faith I've been waiting patiently for the two of you. I've spoken with Loyalty on my communicator. He and knowledge will be here shortly and then you can pledge yourselves to each other" said Wisdom. Just as the three was speaking Grace walked out of the chapel. "Hello Love and Faith it's about time the two of you showed up" said Grace. "It's good to have a star for a friend who's gifted in all the arts" said Love. Love threw her arms around Grace and gave her a big squeeze. "Let's get you in your wedding dress. If you'll follow behind me to your dressing room we can get started" said Grace. As Love and Faith followed behind Grace, Knowledge and Loyalty landed at the chapel.

I just saw a humming bird,
Whispering a humble word.
You say, "no, that's so absurd,
to be humbled by a bird,
let alone it whisper words".
Delusional as it may seem,
This bird it whispered things to me.
Said, "take it slow" with humming wings
"Abolish all unneeded things".
Said, "life is now" as it zoomed by,
"Without this nectar life'd be dry"..
said, "take a drink and take it slow,
let it sit then let it flow.
Tickle your tongue, and soft your humm, Simplicity will keep you young".

You ran
I ran
Faster than light,
Invisible to the keenest human eye
We ran towards the safest haven.
Almost giddy with excitement
Heart fluttering on the
Delicate wings of ecstatic butterflies
Forsaking everything behind
Just you and me
We zoomed by,
Humans and objects,
All just a mélange of colors
Hallways went by
In the blink of an eye
Not yours or mine
Just the shrewdest eye
Voices called out to us
Allies raring to join
Teachers frantic to stop
Corridors vast enough to dissolve into
Stop, came after a long, lingering voyage
Breathing in short abundant pants
We beheld the eye of each other
And in that moment
I realized we were more than partners in crime
We were, you and me
Two friends destined to be
In each other’s memory
Forever
And
Ever
And ever.

Zinging the zen-zone I was in
A zany request zig-zagged my way.
Princess Zinnia from the Zuider-Zee
Required a zippy line or two
To paint the zeitgeist of our times.
With the strength of a Zamboni-
With the power of a Zeus-
And an uncommon zeal I set out
To zap the doubt that slowed me.
With the flair of a Florenz Ziegfeld
And his zoftig choir of beauties,
I morphed into a zealot
Gamboling in the zephyrs
That wafted in from Zurich and Zaire,
Not to mention Zanzibar.
I felt like a Zacharias
When my zealous work went bust.
The writing turned into a zonk-
The accolades were zilch.
I felt like I’d been zippered up
Like a zebra in a zoo.
I lost my zest for going on
And slopped around in old Zoris,
Listening to zydeco’s beat
And feeling like a zit.
But then the Zodiac-
My zinging-singing sign
Came to my rescue
And I was marching off to Zion.
I was one wowie-zowie-zucchini
As I zipped across the pages
And zoomed from one idea
To an even zippier one.
So here, Sunprincess, is your verse
I’ve used up every letter zee
And gone from very bad to worse
But of this challenge, I am free.

I got complete love for all you jiggas
But I'm trying to hurt, slay and ****** all you jiggas
It's not that I'm a militant mind
I just know competition can either enhance your strive or leave you to die!
Who am I?
Maybe the greatest untold story...the one that focused on pain but zoomed out on all my glory
Shut up!
Take another sip of your ego and chase that muthafucker down with a full glass of all of your evil
And call ya boy up
I think his name was kaneval
Separate all your selfishness
Hand out your blessing and see if you and god can finally become equal
I can't take ya
But I can't leave ya
I just feel at times I'm suffocating so I use your energy to break ya!
Remember that I'm unheard of
Rarely do ya listen
A woman still says a man AIN'T ****
THAN TURNS AROUND TO HER FRIEND AND WHISPERS..."love is what my heart is missing"
Are serious?
Manipulation got ya dreary *** minds all curious? So you grab the wheel and suddenly you in control?
She was the one who traded in her pride, self respect and worth all for a false story to be told
then you went home with him
got a bedtime story told from him
now it's your bitterness that's not working out like fitness that creates a beautiful smile to turn sour and grim.
You probably wondering "what **** got Dougy so mad?"(DJbreak)
BREAK THAT!
It's D-O-U-G-I-E
but I'm sure that was my bad...
cause ya can't take responsibility for your daily mistakes
PAC gave me the vice, told me to apply pressure and see how much you weaklings can take!
Anger formed from danger has me dressed in devils wear prada as I put my "heroes" on a hanger and allow them to see me as a modern day king, walk amongst all these strangers
Hit em with a look only to leave the ordinary shook and read the options in they life like they illustrated a personal book
Then go and send false advice
knowing it wasn't right
You stupid muthafuckers!
Domestication still is untamed and has all the ability too bite!
Hold on for the fight
or throw in the towel!
A Evil Intention Overwhelms U!
I dare ya to pick one of my vowels!!!!
....tell Kendrick I'm a monster
He can take cali
THE WHOLE WORLD IM PREPARED TO CONQUER!

"io sol uno."
-Dante, Purgatorio
There I was,
the comic-tragic star of my own motion-picture,
bold beneath the springtime Italian sun hung high
--a heavenly fixture,
illuminating the gold-leaf enframed frescoes in
kaleidoscopes of colours,
baking dry the pigeon droppings upon the flagstones
they smothered,
where I, in all my self-serving recreation,
posed proudly in a costume of my own creation,
an operatic villain clad in a billowy blouse of black,
the Campanile Tower like a sentinel behind my back,
as movie cameras panned and zoomed,
paparazzi photographers capturing me
and freezing me,
in all my wicked, medieval glory,
floating and gloating in the dank aroma of the Venetian seas,
*"I'm the shining star!
--Look at me, look at me!"*
-the super-special star I always knew I'd be,
a painted parody,
a harlequin of displaced passions
for all to laugh at and see,
before slipping silently
into the ornate basilica,
dim and dark as night,
thanking Mother Mary (for nothing) as I sparked
a votive candle's light,
not really sure or caring
where my life would lead,
just as long as the Azure Queen
shed Her Grace on me,
me,
me,
...until I fell
and fell
to the mockery of a home
I made in Hell,
hard and forever and fast,
the only fool left alone in my solo cast,
adrift with no direction,
****** and lost,
me and my frivolous theatre,
squandered an an extravagant cost.
_____________
"io sol uno" means, "I, myself, alone."
This poem is a true-life story.

The pathway towards two leafless trees,
I walked casually stepping onto some occasional mud,
The field to my right are of student statues,
observing their surroundings,
just as I was.
The pathway ended,
Two empty trees shaded me like a pair of poles,
It shaded me from the warmth of the sun and all that's left is the cold.
Divided by a flimsy fence,
cars zoomed by leaving a stench of smoke,
The birds however continued to sing.

Around a big glass table reflecting chandeliers
suits, oxford knotted ties, long tongues gathered
to move an anti-aircraft division across the western border
straddling two different opinions.
at dusk under the silk of darkness
the satellites zoomed in on the convoy
of green dressed camouflaged trucks,
Slinking down the back roads
under infra-red eyes six hundred kms
across the mountains
to take up new positions.
At dawn the satellites spoke to each other
and defied opinions made at the round table.
The longest tongue now hanging out
in sheer delight at operation well done, like steak!
Without discussion the satellites ordered the trucks
back to where they came from!
When the war began the anti-aircraft guns
were ready and waiting for the enemy
in the wrong location.
A flock of geese migrating from Canada to Kazakhstan
were met with missiles attracted by the metal tags
researchers had strapped around their ankles.
As the feathers settled into the waiting valley
two satellites in outer space
laughed at each others games
And switched off.

I was at an art museum and
I saw these girls snickering around a
Collection of black and white photographs
In a corner of the gallery
As I approached they moved on
But not before I heard one of them say
"Who wants to look at pictures of an old guy's ****
The photographs in question did have a rather large picture
Of an old man's ***** but there we’re others
Pictures of his hands, feet, face
All zoomed in enough that you could see his skin
In detail
In the wrinkles, freckles, and weathered lines
Of this old man you could see an entire
Lifetime on display
The time etching into his surface
Like the needle into a warm wax cylinder
The song of his years played as lines and furrows
A venerable road map of a life lived
As for the ****
I'm sure that thing had some miles put
On it too.

Cleared of truth and history,
By my insecurity,
Left here with no heart to show,
Zoomed out from all that I know,
Drained of hope and energy,
By their animosity,
Left here with no path to see,
Groomed for what I cannot be,
Scared of life and destiny,
By my own humanity,
Left here with no love to give,
Doomed to die before I live.

T'was my friend's wedding day
Was dressed up to have a ball
We reached the venue
and beautiful was it all
The bride sat shining
and smiling most times
Her expressions so mixed,
wonder what went through her mind!
I sat through the side,
and looked all around
There was a tall guy, I noticed
A watch he had worn, on his right wrist
He had specs on his eyes
and lens in his hands
He zoomed in and out,
moved like a spy
He captured every expression
which missed the normal eye
Don't think he talked much,
he spoke through his eyes
I controlled my gaze
looked here and there
pretended to be busy
as if I didn't care
As we friends planned to gather,
gather on the stage
to click a picture with friends
the groom and the bride
I moved around the light stand
to give him a helping hand
"Thank you!" was all he said
with a hard to forget smile
I wonder why I din't speak with him?
What held me behind?
It saddens me more now,
to hear from my friend,
he wasn't from my town
and came from a far land
I will see him again though,
through pictures of this day
When they'll be posts on Facebook
Imagining him standing behind

From turning my eyes,
from small to big pupil
I snorted that psychedelic
drug from nostril
again i zoomed out the big world
from my head
remembering my part is still there
to represent
but i dont want to speak them no more
in this reck society i don't wanna live no more .

I didn't change I just woke up
Zoomed in my soul for a close up
So many years it was all wrong
Inside my own body I didn't belong
I succumbed to the fear filled in the air
I acted right and never missed a prayer
I played it safe with great effort and care
But all I could feel was constant despair
Playing it safe was getting me no where
Then one moment that was just like any other
Beauty I never thought I'd discover
I realized my soul was my greatest lover
It's hard to explain how this inner peace feels
or the type of sensations that it starts to reveal
But you find that the common desires are fake
Distractions that keep you from being awake
We are so scared we might make a mistake
We don't even realize our journeys at stake
If we can just master how to let go
Never stop learning. continue to grow
Let go of everything you may think you know
Rid of the excess and you start to glow

Picking out
the right sized stone
was just the start
and Lydia helped
picking up
this one then
that from
the bomb site
and showing it
to him
in her small palm
he took it
and placed it
in the catapult sack
and pulled back
and aimed
at some tin can
he'd set up
some distance away
and it go
and the tin can
went flying with a zing
and she laughed
and said
you got it straight on
and clapped
her hands together
then looked around
for another
while he went
and set the tin can
up again
on the stone wall
of what had once been
the side of a house
now blown
wide apart
he watched her
searching
all intent
as if
she were seeking gold
or coins that had dropped
she liked being
his ammunition collector
better than being
at home
with her snoring
older sister
and her mother
in hell frozen over mood
and her father
sleeping off
the night before *****
better here
with Benedict
being his
ammunition supplier
his right hand girl
besides he often
bought her a drink
of pop or sweets
from the Penny shop
his 9 year old features
seeming older
and her 8 year old face
seeming younger
thin
pale
her hands
frail looking
fingers
skin and bones
here
she said
here is this OK?
and she ran to him
and showed him
and he said
yes just right
and he put it
in the sack
of the catapult
and aimed
then said
hey you want to try?
but she shook her head
no I might hit
something
I ought not to
and besides
I like watching you
and so he aimed again
and let it go
and it zoomed
through the air
and caught the tin
and it flew spinning
with a yelping sound
and hit the ground
and she thought
of her big sister
throwing up
in the early hours
after the binge
and night out
and her mother
bellowing out
in the early hours
you ****** *****
and her father saying
O quit the mouth
let the kid learn
her own way
and she Lydia
turning over
away from
her sister's ****
and back
the sound of vomiting
in her ears
and he tucking
the catapult in
the back pocket
of jeans
thought of his younger sister
getting herself
run over by a car
cuts and bruises
a small scar
otherwise OK
the other day
and right
he said
looking at Lydia
come let's go
get us
a penny drink of pop
from the Penny shop
and she smiled
and walked beside him
his John Wayne swagger
cowboy hat
on his head
ready to shoot
any bad cowboys
who came along
bang bang dead.

Your divine aura surrounding my mind,
The collier of your bangles reminds me,
Beautiful was the last night like always.
The sweet heart ache was astounding,
The remnants still linger in our bodies,
Beautiful is the realization that dawns.
A picture of the previous evening shines,
The picture shines in my mind-your mind,
Beautiful was the setting sun yesterday.
Sweet sugary bourbon biscuit in your lips,
How I chased you down onto the cushion,
Beautiful are those moments of a lip-lock.
Sweet was the biscuit or your sugary lips,
I zoomed onto the smiling curve of yours,
Beautiful is the shape as they pout open.

From group home to group home I zoomed right by my childhood,
Tried to make a friend or two but that always ended up not good.
Locked up in my mind and sanity's my auto pilot.
And every time I speak my mind it always ends up violent.
Locked up in this school, my grades is just an F, my job got me saying F and now thanks to the internet my little cousin is trying to F.
So what next I ask cause I keep waking up in my nightmare, college prices are not fare growing up in society where I know the Government don't care!
Arrested trying to make the train to school with no car fair.
So what's next? I have to ask.
I'm just starting to feel like another Black kid with a target on the back.

You sat for my camera
just the once
in a Mediterranean garden.
It was a haven of green
above a sunned-blue bay.
Unplanned it was.
We’d eaten lunch,
watching butterflies
flicker-perch and hover.
You’d tied your hair with a scarf
to keep the midday heat from your head,
a sun that brought your freckles to the fore
on bare arms, on your golden cheek.
Then, for a little while,
you left your public self elsewhere,
and my zoomed lens travelled close
as a lover’s kiss before waking.
And as you gazed at the daisied grass
a gentleness and grace descended
on your sun-shadowed face.
I took two pictures, only two.
These portraits I’ve not kept
with other ‘snaps’,
but far apart; and possibly
close to the painter’s art
as I will ever get.
The portrait-call goes out.
I hesitate, I’m reticent, afraid
to share them with the public gaze.
They say so much, you see,
of what I know you now to be:
the woman I’m privileged
to touch, to hold dear and close
to this wholly unmanageable heart.

The winning goal was up to me,
But I was so nervous,
It was hard to see.
I dodged my opponents with no effort,
none at all,
But that's when I tripped,
Ready to fall.
Another girl fell and hit me in the head.
It's a free shot, Free shot!
The referee said.
"Here's the ball, honey, go right ahead."
I waited for the whistle and unleashed my power,
And for a second I saw the goalie cower.
She missed it,
She missed it!
It zoomed past her in a flash,
I was so tired.
I was ready to crash.
My whole team froze in shock and I did the same,
As the ref blew the whistle,
Ending the game.
*** we did it!
Don't you see?
We just beat the very best team!
From losers of 09 to the champs of 010,
If you don't think we're awesome,
Where have you been.

A 12-year old boy walks in
The dry Cleveland air never disappoints
It was his first day at school
"How was your day Tamir?"
Spouts his mother from the kitchen
As she prepares the evening dinner
School was ok I guess
I could do better in my classes but whatever
Basketball practice was fun
A 12-year old boy walks in
Today is especially cold even for Cleveland
The snow stuck like it was there to stay
"How was your day Tamir"
His mother asks from the living room
School was ok
Can I can go to the park tomorrow?
I want to have a snowball fight with my friends
A 12-year old boy walks in
Dry cold air is the perfect weather for bleeding
He walks in and tries to cover the holes in his chest
"How was your day Tamir?"
His mother asks
Just like any other day
Mommy I went to the park today
But my friends never showed up
So I made snowballs on my own
And I played with my airsoft gun
Mommy all of a sudden the park was empty
A car zoomed right in front of me
It was only a few steps
The police car door opened
And they shot me Mommy
I was reaching to give them my airsoft gun
Mommy I'm dead now
The holes in my chest they won't close up
Nobody saved me Mommy
I'm so sorry I made a big mistake
I didn't mean to scare people with my airsoft gun
I won't make the same mistake next time
I promise!
Mommy please forgive me
I promise next time I will have more control
Mommy give me another chance
Mommy please cover my red holes
