I'm not forcing my lifestyle on you,
but what you're eating had emotions.
I'm not forcing my lifestyle on you,
but it's really not necessary for you to eat that at all.
I'm not forcing my lifestyle on you,
but, in order for you to eat that, we're killing the planet.
I'm not forcing my lifestyle on you,
but "free range" doesn't mean anything
and "grass fed" just means they had a bit of ground in their cages.
I'm not forcing my lifestyle on you,
but cows have best friends,
mother pigs "sing" to their babies,
and turkeys can play video games.
I'm not forcing my lifestyle on you,
it's just that it's super hypocritical to say you believe in animal rights
and are against animal cruelty
when there's a hamburger on your plate.

I'm not forcing my lifestyle on you,
you're ignoring me anyway.
I'm anxiously awaiting someone to message me and talk about how humans are "supposed" to eat meat or something.

and that's when i realized,

you will not come home to me, you never could.

i am not soft or flexible, i am all sharp teeth and rough tongue.
i am more carnage than compassion.
my jaw clenches to show i could be nothing but cruel, never will be kind.

and who wants to call a wild beast theirs?
the fairytales never end that way.
you treat yourself like a wounded animal.
you’re drowning in your own blood,
demons rather.
your wounds fester & rot & your demons escape & drown you.
you don’t know why you got shot or why you deserve such pain.
you don’t know why you got caught in the headlights.
so you wallow in a pool of red, your demons.
as they taint your skin crimson
& leave your soul hollow.
you live life on the ground
because reality’s a hard pill to swallow.
you’re waiting to be put out of your misery.
you want to die, to end it all.
or you’re waiting for someone to come along & pick you up, poor wounded animal.
someone to stop the bleeding, fix up your wounds & make you okay again.
you’re waiting for someone to make you whole.
you’re waiting for someone to stop your demons from drowning you
but you’ll be waiting a lifetime drowning in your demons waiting for someone to throw you a life jacket.
we either wait or we die…
or we save ourselves. the lucky ones, i suppose…
it is said an animal would rather bite its own paw than die in an animal trap.
we who save ourselves, crawl away from the car that hit us. take out the arrow that hit us. bite off the leg that’s caught in the trap so we can survive.
we who wait for someone to save us end up bleeding to death.
& those of us that want to end our misery either do it, or live our entire lives wishing we had.
survival instinct… bite off your paw to save yourself from the animal trap for none can save us but ourselves.

Animals are innocent
So unaware

Yet you still beat that dog
Abandon that kitten
Hunt those whales
**** everything in your wake
You even **** humans.
****

I think we should be the ones called animals.

If someone where to open me up
They would see that every animal
Has escaped its cage

I was once a tyke, I built sand castles too,
I had a play doll, a stuffed animal, some that
Reminded me of you. I had a place set for
Two, tea that was poured, a pastel set, skies blue,
And every day we'd bake a cake, we'd celebrate,
With plays and artwork at five, storytelling at eight.

*But now that time is gone and it's already late,
So I join the army and get in gear, fight each year,
Dropping bombs to make them pay, a tool, a slave,
Work until I become a mindless drone, another steer,
I've "grown up" so much, I'm no longer sweet or soft,
I guess I seem aloof, but we just get stiff year after year.
