,
silently puppeteering,
ceaselessly poised under our noses and over our heads,
most visible when crawling by,
and too often moving much too fast.
time is an imposing figure,
intimidating and all too present.

yet it is also just the ticking of a clock,
seconds between minutes,
minutes between hours.
clouds slowly drifting across the sky,
the rising of the sun and moon,
generous and unhampered.

and is it fair to give it our burdens?
to use it as a pocket in which we neatly tuck away our problems?
time is not our enemy,
but neither is it our friend.
we ask it to heal all wounds
but time has no cures and no sympathy.
time has no intentions.

and so we ponder and debate and ask it for favors,
and time watches and says nothing.
very rambly, oops
(huff fin Bach seat driver)...

Aye kin recall when both offspring
     (yay high) as a small child
and now ma deux daughters
     (fledgling young chicks
     though they be),
     flew the coop, sans answering,
     when call of the wild dialed

their biological cell
     phone rang off the hook
as post pubescence metamorphosis
     (into young adulthood),
     they gingerly did brook
arbiters as consensual nymphs
     baited verboten fruit yum zook

thus, freed as private on call designated
     papa chauffeur de jure
yet, a nostalgic feelings
     surface within mine being,

     when many occasions
    witnessed this night owl
     barely awake
     stumbling out the front door

nonetheless diligently
     donning "taxi driver" hat
now, a virtual dust collector
     replaced by near identical head gear

     capped upon me noggin monogramed
     with pet name "hubby" and/or "matt"
thy (well worn) first name,
     despite futile protestation
     simmering into *** for tat

case in point encompasses this poetic blip
     instinctually navigating
     (southeast as the counting crows fly)
     (with ma own embedded

     global positioning satellite micro chip)
from Schwenksville habitue
     to center city Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where,
     nary agitation viz calm, cool,

     and collected demeanor did e-clip,
nor (as prevailed during anxiety fraught youth),
     emotional state would hove done a flip
with clenched steering wheel,

     whar white bar knuckles would grip
but nowadays (courtesy
     of targeted prescription medications)
mien psychological state quite mellow,

     and approaches ferrying human cargo
     via 2009 Hyundai Sonata
     as one shaded eyes, cool cat,
     and (so like...mon) really hip

telling spouse to pipe down and zip her lip
lest she wants the aggravating maneuver
     thru plethora of pedestrians
     (nope, yours truly
     DID NOT run anybody over)!

This mister plied his way
     to 1601 Market Street with nary a hitch
though returning back northwest to our abode
     entailed a bit hove va glitch

when orientation
     found me way off beaten bath,
     (a quarter tank of gas) circling
     the Philadelphia Airport with

     "Welcome to Tinicum Township),"
     some natural wildlife niche,
and of course did NO confession getting lost,
then breathing sigh of relief

     espying urban skyline,
     where Ben Franklin statue
     forever frieze a stitch
in time, and even rumbling
     deafening noise elicits nada flinch!

long-legged brothers
daddy long legs, too

hurry, scurry

wait up,
I can't keep up with you

slow down
wait for me

I'm lagging
don't you see

~~~~~~~~~~
read...read...
scurry...scurry
always feeling in a hurry
so many...so much
you write too fast
it's like walk-running
in the past
slow down...
I lag behind it's true
slow down, wait for me
I can't keep up!
I can't keep up with you!
I know I likely miss a lot of real gems but oh lordy! it is hard to keep up. I still have short legs and walk fast :-)
I'm running
fast
my feet hit the sand
pavement
grass
as I run
the wind in my face
faster
faster
faster
my legs burn
but it's a good burn
I close my eyes
ignore the pain in my chest
my heavy breathing
aching legs
and embrace
this feeling of freedom
I was a reckless driver
And caused countless crashes
In my earlier naïve days
And then when I was hers
She became the first one
To crash into me
So I tried to drive him
But he was just too fast
And I crashed him
Alas, I'm re-learning to drive
With a nice new old car
And she is smooth running
And makes my car race
So I'll grip the steering wheel
Tighter tomorrow
I love that new car smell
I'm saving myself , I'm saving myself for a new day,
The time flies by so fast its like I don't even wanna stay,
you say things , it makes sense , in this life , you better hit em' with the price you pay,
the world and the people in it will run over you better use your words today,
sometimes love and hate comes in one or the other.
we fight for the free with your sisters and brothers.
From your mother, your daddy , your grandma , your lover.
this is what it takes just to fight for the future.
But I digress,
And for all the people with so much stress,
I should know this first hand cause I'm 20,
Put in check,
But please be the one with the good mind set,
your too smart to be obsessing over money,
or the fly cars and the jewelry,
or the honeys,
its not given to you like a gift from God that thinks that every
brother deserves those things,
should be worried about the right things,
should be worried about the wedding rings,
shouldn't about the hateful and mean things your peers would bring.
But me , I always stay the same,
If you could recreate your world then there is no more pain.
I think we just need air.
i think we just need air.
If I call will you ever get the phone?
will the wars start to tear apart our home?
will I be the one to die all alone?
Or maybe I just like being on my own, i just need..
If I call will you ever get the phone?
will the wars start to tear apart our home?
will I be the one to die all alone?
Or maybe I just like being on my own, i just need..
she’s the girl that made you believe in love.
with that infection laugh and
rough-around-the-edges persona,
she made you fall.
oh darling,
she made you fall fast.
she’s the girl that’s beautiful but
will never believe it,
doesn’t see it,
even though it’s pointed out to her all the time.
this girl is bright and oh god does she shine.
even on her dull days,
when the rain won’t stop pouring and
she can’t breathe,
she manages to smile.
she can fool you all.
she’s the girl that keeps them all at bay,
wondering
if she’s making a mistake.
princes flock to her like cattle,
desperate to have their hearts broken
by the girl who’s smile shines brighter
than the whole entire galaxy.
Out of gas (Running on empty)
Get home, rest my bones.
Please phone, don’t ring.
Get up, answer you all,
One song, two song, fast food,
Ding!
Eat fast, time passed,
Empty phone of today’s thoughts.
Pen and paper, upload later,
Poems become only four.
One day I will get a day off.
Not today, tick, tock.
Friday, weekends here;
Wake up early, look for job.
Insomnia won’t let me rest;
Monday morning, start again.
This is why I wrote this poem,
So you could see I keep on going,
But just for now I need some peace,
That’s why for now I write ‘Love is…’
I just do not have the time,
To say I love you all in a thousand lines
And in a thousand ways I will return,
But just for now,
I have no fuel left inside of me to burn.
Light green but, dark around the edges
Not emerald, more like nicely trimmed hedges
His least favorite, he preferred blue
But I can tell that it's different for you
Because I caught you once in a moment
You were kissing me with your eyes open
