Our lame game.
Neharika Jan 2020
We used to meet,
Away from the world.
Are you still the same?
Without a sound
You would call me.
Do you remember my name?
We would stay up late
And talk all night.
Did it feel so lame?
Until it fell into pieces
Dreams to rubble.
I'm I to blame?
But ill act like I’m okay
And you wont even need to act.
Can we still play this game?
Something hit hard
My heart is shattered.
Did you take aim?
But now its over
Like nothing ever happened.
I'm I an old flame?
It fell so quick,
We had it all.
Oh what a shame.

The words that cry.
Neharika Oct 2019
To you they seem petty,
Redundant and fancy.
But these words,
All night they kept crying
They stayed awake waiting
You stood them up.
These words,
They cried all night long.

Your words, they are strong
They never shed a tear.
And every precious word
I wrote you,
Let me have them back
Please dear.
Please dear.
They’ve cried all night,
You’ve turned a deaf ear.

They keep knocking on your door
But you do not open.
All night at your doorstep.
You’ve easily stood them up.
They stayed awake waiting
Waiting and crying
They cry all night
But they won't give up.

My Resignation
Neharika Dec 2017
I resign from your love
It's far too hard a job
My experiences have been too rough
I give my all but it isn't enough

Where does your love come from anyway?
Is it your gut that gives it away?
Myriad words I could right now say
If only it mattered, I could go on all day.

My walls are all blank, I stripped all our pictures
It reminded me of my failure; your silence tortures.
I munch no more popcorn like we used to in the movies.
I watch movies no more either, just hoping to be at ease.

I've had enough of my dreams crushed
Not sure if they can be reimbursed
It's far too hard, even for a job
I quit, I resign from your love.

I blinked my eyes to see you gone.
The rumors are true, we arent the same, nomore.
"Mutual", Alas, a mere fancy word
With you gone but I was ashore.

Now, I wait for the wind.

Laughing stock
Neharika Dec 2017
Looks have never been so piercing before
Whispers have never been so loud before
You try to step back, submit and comply
Until one day you comply no more.

And after some time you'd want to break the silence
Only more and more fingers to point your defiance
Well what do they know more than what they have been told
Silence is golden, your perfect alliance.

They love you and hate you
Will own you, asphyxiate you
Disregard and deny you
And well still not know you.

You've never opened up, despite how many times they knock
You have had your achievements and you’ve had your block
They worry you no more they are a stupid flock
Still, you stay amused, they are your laughing stock.

Black butterflies
Neharika Dec 2017
I just flew through black butterflies
fluttering around a holy circle.
I just saw them lose their color
red yellow and purple
I turned some pages, burnt, outdated
no traces of me has ever been in there
I think I might have been reborn,
I found my pair and lost my share.
I think the butterflies have gotten into me.
or might I've just gotten into them
I used to see a lot of hues
but now all I see is a huge black gem
black butterflies let me fly for the least,
I've lost everything and found my wings
let me fly, let me fly
if ever young caterpillars are to rise
rise up to being beautiful butterflies.

A small world
Neharika Dec 2017
When we were young, the world was smaller,
Easily be filled with your smiles.
I could readily listen to your stories
I would readily wait to sleep.

Oh, it did not take so long, to see the world grow so much bigger
That I would have to wait for months and travel for days
To see your pretty smiles and listen to your sweet stories.
Oh, how I wish the world to shrink again.

Sketch of love
Neharika Jul 2017
It's hard to illustrate
this essence in frames
some love is easily lost
but some love, it stays.

You draw outlines
With precision and care
And still gets smudged
in pain and despair.

You try to illustrate
take every right step
still, leave enough room for silly mistakes.
Some love, it just stays.

You try to erase
those sloppy details.
nevertheless, can't escape
but some love, it just stays.

Bickering Flickering
Neharika Jul 2017
The bickering sunlight at my door
I am feverish, this crazy flare,
Like flashlight, poignant flashlight pointing at me,
Never been so queasy
Disgruntled, displeased.
There is more to this
More than the glare
The bickering sunlight never goes away
And it has reached my door.
My head is hung down
Upside-down for that
I guess that turns a frown to a smile
I could get used to it.
The sun I defeat,
He is too tired for today
One step back at a time it takes, slow
Promises to be even bolder tomorrow.
I look at it
Maybe he will
I smile till then, may be a smirk;
A smirk from my upturned frown.

Amusement city
Neharika Jul 2017
Here you are, in the amusement city.
Where faces are not what they seem to be
Where screams and cries is the only melody
Here you are, in the amusement city.

It feels like I have lived here for a while
Though it has just been just a short interval
I may have got used to the stretched wide smiles
And beautiful masks that hide it all.

Last night on the brighter street, two ladies wrapped in scarlet veils,
Bumped into me and hesitantly then said,
“Excuse us but we are running late;
Tonight’s the night of timeless tales”

I hurried and joined them in the brink of an eye
And saw folks along, walking by,
Till we had reached a huge site
Where it had been raining lights.

“Nothing is impossible here,
This bizarre lonesome city,
The more you are here, the more you are here’s
Oh, indeed what a place to be.”
Here you are, in the amusement city.

Another woman's man
Neharika Jun 2017
it was a crime
she loved, another woman's man.

she stared all day out of the window, to see them take a stroll
she saw him with another woman, and couldn't learn to control
her heart was stabbed a hundred times but a smile ran across her face
he would look at her inside the window but could never make a guess.

she cried out loud and cried out deep, and all she could do was to weep
and neither could she stay awake, nor could she ever sleep.

his woman was filled with disregard, disrespect and despise
and it would as well be hard for him but thought that won't be wise
she cut his name on her heart, her body, and her soul
she made sure he would never know the pain she had to hold
he told her to let it go and look for a new start
but she had known that only he would always rule her heart.

she prayed for him and looked away with only him in mind
what once took them years to put in place, did so easily unwind.

she burns herself in agony,
in love and in shame
she knows it well, he would listen someday
but she will never tell.

she loves him wild and loves him mad, like a wounded bird ever can
but all she will do is stare at him, he is, another woman's man.

different
Neharika Jun 2017
it seems different nowadays
a different spirit altogether
away from the escapes
and away from the trotting
away from it all
that once
used to make all the difference

is that why it is so different altogether
those things that make no difference any more?
have they hidden themselves somewhere in the clouds?
i hope it stays different forever
so long as the clouds never rain.

forever is a big word though, ponderous
and i realize with my eyes closed
that it can't be different forever
i open my eyes, look at you
you still have your eyes closed
realize a moment later again
that it can't be different forever.

but may be this split second gap between us
is what will always be the same.
and well if it does, then
i hope it will stay different.
different for always.
i look at you
you nod after a moment.

Avenue of golden trees
Neharika Jun 2017
Avenue of golden trees
Lead me towards you
Subdued fragrance of ardency
Is it true that dreams come true?

Tiny droplets of serenity
Drizzling like bliss on me
Abiding to catch a glimpse of you
Is it true that dreams come true?

Is it fine if I trust in time?
Is it fine if I call you mine?
Is it fine to look for something new?
Is it true that dreams come true?

For once can I touch the dew
For once can I stop being blue
I trust, bestow myself upon you
I guess it's true that dreams come true.

Ready
Neharika Jun 2017
Altered my ego,
Ordered some self worth to go
Dabbing the dark circles of deceit
And a rosy blush for instant glow.
