Alone in a dream,
Alone wide awake
It’s in my bloodstream
It’s more than I can take
I fell asleep with a memory
It’s always the same mistake
when dreams are only temporary
It’s more than I can take
Mitch Prax Mar 1
It's the solitary nights
I cherish the most.
The silence and shadows,
the thoughts and theories-
these are the things that
keep this heart beating-
this is what it's all about.
Mitch Prax May 25
Solitude is calling to me again.
She calls to me on
those dire nights and I
always answer her siren song.
She knows when I am
drained, detached or drowning
and will lift me from the
depths in my
time of need.
Mitch Prax Mar 2022
What I like most about solitude
is that no one wants to steal it away.
Society, on the other hand,
is in such abundance that
anyone and everyone
can't get enough.
Mitch Prax Feb 2024
The only one who
feels with me is me-
all the joy, the pain,
and everything in between.
Those tears and those smiles
only reach my face and
its my burden to carry.
This is my solitude and it is
all I have ever know.
Mitch Prax Nov 2024
Rain of shine,
the solitude stays the same.
Wherever I go and
whoever I'm with.
Mitch Prax Jan 2023
Solitude is not my enemy,
Solitude is more of a pet.
I call it over in times of need-
it comes to me, sits by my side
and makes for good company.
Sometimes solitude will bite
to remind me of just how lonely
the solitary life can be.
But thanks to solitude,
I see life for what it is.
Mitch Prax Mar 2018
Someday
I am going to meet somebody
and she’s going to be
the moon of my life.
Someday
she will be my muse,
my sun and my stars.
Someday
she will make me swoon
and leave me wanting more
just like you used to
Mitch Prax Aug 2019
I was your someone
until you became someone
else's someone
Mitch Prax Jan 2014
You try to find that special person
Someone you can be with
Someone you can touch
Someone you can hold
Someone you can talk to
Someone you can identify with
Someone you won’t feel so strange around
You found that they don’t really exist.
Mitch Prax Dec 2018
When I’m full of anxiety,
and can no longer sit still.
When I feel the need to flee,
because reality becomes too real.
I’m not that way everyday,
but the days that I am,
I feel myself start to fray
like no one can understand.
I may not be or act the way
that some might think I should,
but almost every day,
I just feel misunderstood,
I can’t help my own mind;
it darkens and it races.
Sometimes this head isn't kind;
it's not something one embraces.
I just want to find someone;
someone who will understand;
make me not want to run
but stay hand in hand.
Love me for my imperfect ways,
and be my voice of clarity.
And for the rest of my days
please just set me free.
Love me when I don’t love myself,
and help me grow and blossom.
Help me become like yourself,
a shining beacon, the sweetest plum.
I just need
someone who’ll understand.
Mitch Prax Nov 2022
Sometimes missing you
is like a soft and sweet bird song-
other times, a shriek of a harpy.
Mitch Prax Jun 2019
I thought I was over you
until I saw your smile,
a sad smile-
oh, how I wish I could
fix that smile.
I try to justify the flutter
of my heart at the
mere sight of you.
That smile on your face-
oh, how I wish it was
still for me.
Mitch Prax Nov 2019
You're so far away.
Are you even listening
To these words I
write for you?
Oh, so far away,
these messages in a bottle
are surely lost at sea.
Are you even out there?
I'm still lost and
alone and I
need you.
Mitch Prax Aug 2023
The soul is a funny thing-
in one moment, joy,
and in the next one, sorrow.
The landscape of the soul
is as changing as the sea
caught up in a storm of emotions.
Mitch Prax May 2022
There is no soul,
it is merely an illusions
we have created to
project our desires in death onto
in hopes of an afterlife.
Mitch Prax Feb 2022
The soul does not reside in the chest,
it resides in the brain,
perceiving reality
through the lens
we call our mind.
Mitch Prax May 2022
There is no soul,
it is merely an illusion
we have created to
project our desires in death onto
in hopes of an afterlife.
Mitch Prax Dec 2021
Your smile sends sunflowers
sprouting from my soul,
destroying the dark and
leaving light in your wake.
Mitch Prax Feb 2019
Our two souls were
brought together
from different worlds-
perhaps to be entwined.
Our stories were weaved
into one-
through the seas and storms
that couldn't keep us apart.
Mitch Prax Oct 2022
We have nobody to blame
for these feelings but ourselves.
How we react depends on how
we interpret the situation.
Just remember that you are
your own source of emotion-
the keys to this ride
we call life
is yours.
Mitch Prax Jan 27
Sometimes
you just need to
disappear for a moment
to rekindle the spark
so you can burn
another day.
Mitch Prax Apr 2024
It was your spark that
lit this divine fire within this heart.
I am convinced that it
will burn forever.
Mitch Prax Mar 2018
You can watch a fire
begin with a spark,
so I’ll stand by your side
until I spot a flame.
Mitch Prax May 2022
I have been speechless
since I kissed your lips.
For it is in your mouth
I left my voice,
my reason,
my soul.
Mitch Prax Apr 2019
If I just keep writing,
then maybe my poetry
will spill out and
bring you back.
Mitch Prax Jun 2024
Depressed and
spiraling into
darkness.
I am calling out
for help but I
am in far too
deep now.
Mitch Prax Aug 2020
Sunflowers bloom
then sunflowers kiss.
Ah yes,
it's spring
That I've missed.
Mitch Prax Feb 2019
I seem to know how
to chase the stars-
but never how to
catch them.
Mitch Prax Dec 2017
We are all
made of stardust.
Yet you somehow seem
to shine brighter than
anyone else.
Mitch Prax Jan 2018
I’ve been writing about you a lot
It comes so easy and I don’t want to stop
For me, it’s a way of keeping you real,
a way of convincing myself
there is something more
It fuels my desire to keep you,
a way of begging the cosmos
to pick up on my words
and turn them into stardust
so they could reach you every night
and when you wake up
you will feel a familiar love
in your heart and maybe know
that it is me thinking of you
from another place,
wishing, willing
that our souls will somehow
become one.
Mitch Prax Oct 2021
Stardust flows through
your veins and every touch
creates galaxies upon my skin.
Mitch Prax Aug 2017
I caught myself
Again
Staring up at the starry night
Thinking about you
Wondering if you stare
At the same starry night
thinking about me too
and if you still
cross my mind
Mitch Prax Mar 2021
Maybe we
should look at the moon
together
the next time
we miss each other.
Knowing we share the same
starry night
will just have to do
for now.
Mitch Prax Oct 2021
There is nothing
quite as magical knowing
that we look up at the same stars
that our ancestors looked up at
thousands of years ago.
Mitch Prax Feb 2022
These memories blanket me
like the cosmos above-
countless worlds I will
never experience.
The stars above sparkle
like the unsaid words and
our broken promises-
out of reach yet oh
so beautiful.
Mitch Prax Jul 2024
Some of us
favor our solitude
over the company of others.
We seek out silence like
the moon seeks out the night
because there are days when
our stars burn out and
running from the sun is
the only way to protect
their glorious glow.
Mitch Prax Sep 2018
Yes,
I am selfish;
I want to see you every night
Until the darkness is no more.
My nights can never be too full
of the stars that you are.
Mitch Prax Apr 2022
Yes, it's true,
I still think of you-
how can I forget the one
who consumed my mind,
heart and soul for so long?
Years can go by,
I can move away,
I can even be reborn,
yet in my mind you still remain.
Mitch Prax Jul 2019
It is far too early
to tel if I'll survive you.
You have already made
a dent on my heart
and I’m already weak-kneed
at the thought of saying goodbye.
Mitch Prax Aug 2022
The night has a way
of stirring the mind and memory.
Silence and shadow dance
to the rhythm of nostalgia
and everyone who held and broke this heart
flash before my my eyes.
Which of them will I take as my muse tonight
as I put pen to paper?
Shall it be the one who hurt me,
the one I loved or the one I thought
I forgot about so very long ago.
Mitch Prax Jan 2021
I used to think
that I was invincible-
a stone heart impenetrable
to the holiest
of goddesses.
And then I met you-
just one glance and this heart
began to thaw.
Mitch Prax Feb 2019
If you're not up there
in heaven
when I get off this wild ride,
then dying isn't really an option-
is it?
Mitch Prax Dec 2024
You feel strange again-
you don't know why,
and suddenly you're
reliving your youth and
realizing that there must be
something inherently wrong with you
that people don't like and you
don't know what it is.
Mitch Prax Apr 2021
And just like that,
we were
strangers again.
Mitch Prax May 2022
You said that
I do not know you
and you do not know me.
I said I did not believe you,
that this love said otherwise.
Your hands were so familiar in mine-
a puzzle piece to complete
that perfect picture.
How can you call me a stranger
when you used to call me yours?
I still look at you as though
you are all I have ever known,
just like the way you used
to look at me
so very long
ago.
Mitch Prax Jan 2015
Let me rid you of your heart aches
With poetry and strawberry cupcakes
So stay with me but for a little while
You accelerate time in just one smile

But all things must come to an end
I’ll miss you more than you can comprehend
To this day I’m still finding goodbyes tough
Because time spent with you is never enough
Mitch Prax Jun 2021
We will always
be connected through
love and a theory-
these strings shall
transcend time and space
and bind us
for eternity.
Mitch Prax Jul 2024
Maybe there
was no struggle.
Maybe it was me,
myself and my thoughts
all along.
Mitch Prax Apr 2019
She won't break your heart,
but she will test its limits.
Fair?
Probably not,
but neither is life,
and life provides
opportunity,
not justice.
