Reunite, in an embrace,
Sleek black and white keys and fingertips of lace,

Dance away!
Until the frothy winds weep,
Until my curious eyes wane,

Weave those strings of emotion
into a muslin-mist melody.

Intoxicate this mellow dream
with coffee rhythm and cinnamon notes

Let your song inspire me again
as it hushes to pianissimo
and dissolves into the summer shadows.

"encore!"
Sometimes, music is all that makes sense.

~ rewind, replay,
regret, repeat. ~

I stop on this
crafty bridge of time,

scraping my nails
against
the rails of reasons
piercing my gut,

scarring
my already
withered psyche,

clouding my
tarnished mind,

clawing at my
distorted reality,
excruciatingly;

questioning
my existence .

Today it changes.
Sometimes, thoughts are my own enemies, trying to learn some positivity.

Sunshine felt warmer than yesterday,
Melting the ice in my bones,
I felt calm and free,
Without a care in the world,
I remember wearing a white dress this morning,
As I sat, holding my cup of tea,
But I love this colour,
Even my sister's blood looked pretty.

"...to live again."

As I meld back into the
scarred infinity,
daffodils blossom
in my frostbitten dimples
giggles run wild,
over the slumbering
reminiscence,
the tide's ebbing away
slow and sure,
I kiss the raindrops goodbye,
yet,
the child inside,
never seems to die.

"I wish..."
Shrika May 2020
Looking for friendship,
Into my life came he,
Many hated him for reasons unknown,
A quiet loner, but,
Oh! So possessive.

He listened to me ramble about,
Foes and frolics,
Woes and world,
Never did he complain.
I told him everything,
But I didn't even know his name.

Ties broken and relations gone,
Everyone lost,
And I was lost in him,
But I was dying,
Fading,
Piece by piece.
His kind, blue eyes drowned me,
In reassurance.

Months flew,
Standing at the Doors of Death,
Gasping, choking,
I reached for his hand,
Realization dawned on me,
As he stood, silently smirking at me.
To consume yet another soul,
He left me dying,
In the echoes of his name-

"Loneliness"
A few memories resurfaced and voila! A poem.
(Trying to forget them)

The day betrays again,
Pallor crawls over my entirety
Mirrors are no longer the truth
Ashen grey swallows the only moon

My blood rejoices
My tainted, traitorous blood!
Your blood.
Cascading through my veins

Fated to this murk,
Shackled to your presence
Fading into a daze, slowly,
As frost singes this dread

No!
This will not be my ruin,
I will decide my own doom
This curse shall be undone!

O Count De Ville
My dagger shall impale your heart!

For the BLT and Thomas W Case challenge
https://hellopoetry.com/poem/3925302/not-a-poem-a-new-challenge/

Mina Harker, female protagonist of the novel- Dracula, along with her friends plots against Dracula. Knowing their plans, Dracula bites Mina three times and also makes her drink his blood as a revenge giving him access to her thoughts and ensuring her fate as a vampire should she die,  due to which she switches back and forth between consciousness and a trance-like state. Van Helsing, Dracula's arch-nemesis, uses this link to his advantage by hypnotizing Mina to find and destroy Dracula.

I pieced it back together,
It took me forever,
It's still fragile,
I'm trusting you,
Please don't break it again,
I don't think I can fix it this time.

I can't afford another forever.

Monsoon's panoply,
               a dimpled day's
smile;
                    windstrewn
                                 gulmohars,
                              a blushing brocade,
                     'plop'-ing droplets,
                     a lilting cadence;

nostalgia
    pervading through
  the silver-scented
                   puddles of a
paperboat's elation;
July evenings
                           and
                                         trinkets of
                         yesterday...

...Tiptoeing back inside in my wet shoes

-Light-

Darkness pours into me
in shimmering rivulets,

-Is-

thrumming in staccatos
of carnal dour;

-All-

begging me to yield, to burn,
to drown in its mercy,

-That-

But it knows not that
a flicker is all it takes
to light

-Remains-
Diwali, the festival of light, celebrated in India signifies this hope, new beginnings and the power of light.
A very happy diwali to everyone!

I'm very thankful to everyone in this wonderful community who have been constantly supporting me and have been appreciating my poems. I have now decided to take a break in writing as I'm almost at the end of my senior year in school and things have started to get hectic. I may not be able to post anything for a few months. Hopefully by the time I come back with a new poem, I'd have a good chance of getting into my dream college(fingers crossed):D

I watch her.

I watch her,
as the night drapes over her window,
as the stars tangle in her hair,

I watch her,
as the chiseled imperfection
of the moon stirs her inky musings,

I watch her ,
in the uncertain glow of the dying candle,
in the torrent of tattered thoughts,

I watch her,
watching me through the silver-smeared glass,
through the pits of colourless brown,

                                      I watch her as
                                               she slowly traces the silence,
                                                                   silencing the traces of him.

Lie
You said, "Together forever".

When did forever become so short ?

For months,

I've been wandering,
through winding
silences

hoping
I'd find your chaos
one day.
Speak...

I am
        Nothing more than something
                    Nothing less than anything
I stand on the line between
My brightest fears and
       my darkest strengths
                Wind wakes a wanderer
                          Current flows through a sailor
I have neither and I am neither

Forward is bitter
             Backward is foolish
                         Left and right, Death's disguise
            Muddled clarity, invisible light
Multiple reflections,
           Maybe it's broken glass.

The cliff waits for my decision
                But for now,
                              I STAND STILL.

Here's one after a long time:)

Waves of memories
Surging in the sea of sorrow,
Letters adorned with
Crystals of nostalgia,
Despair and Darkness,
Silent and smug,
With creepy smiles promising
To wreak havoc once again,
Diaphanous barriers sewn with tears of pain,
Envelop the reckless heart,
Invisible scars etched into the bereft soul,
Familiar feeling of bitter realization.
Buried anger, misguided trust,
O belle, mercy is all I ask,
Insecurity tugging at my roots,
Harder than my own hands do,
Limp,
Torn,
I am dead on the inside.

Looking afar
Iinto the fair white sky,
Infinitesimal on a speck in cosmos,
Yet,
Consumed and blinded
By unsolicited mortal passions,
Rage, desolation, woe, glee, love-
Emotions.
Words stuck in my cynical brain,
Ink bleeding on the papers.
Choking on my own thoughts,
Drowning in the abyss of an endless void,
Betrothed to an unwelcome guest-loneliness,
Treading through the fiery waters,
Trudging through dank, dense woods,
Battered,
Lifeless,
I am dead on the inside.
Shrika May 2020
I wake up to a morning where,
Splendour sketches an idyllic scene,
Snowy clouds shroud the dazzling sun,
Swallows soar high, gliding,
Through these vehement winds,
Rustling leaves sing an ode to this peace,
Grey, white, blue, blur into one,
A myriad of colours found beautiful by none,
All Acts and Roles- forgotten,
And the Play- lost,
Trapped in this second,
Enchanted by no magic,
Every passing moment envies the next,
Solitude settles in the air,
Loneliness bids me goodbye,
Rationale screams for realization,
But soul guides me to tranquility,
Life seeps back into me;

I'm awake.
I find joy.
I find myself.
Today's weather made me poetic, I guess.
And dull, grey skies are something I love.

Embedded in scarlet folds,
between the loops,

simmers

a tempest repressed;

feral tenor of its
soundless whispers
piercing through
the ivory cage

contained too long;
now a beast
untamed

dragging its talons
across my flesh
for the ink
it hunts

Embedded in scarlet folds,
between the loops

rattles,

a thought...

Unleashed.

That bird -
Perched on a neem branch,
Its beady eyes search through scorching rays
For its departed half long drowned
In the dusty depths of Earth.
Hollow heart thumps
In mere existence.
Hours pass by.

Hope
Dims in this twilight sun but
Somehow,
Weaves its way through these
Wayward winds
Calls and cries of anguish
Shatter against the Gates of Heaven
Melodies of melancholies
Capture my wandering mind,
I watch until
Lingering love transforms into starlit forlorn.

Wistful.

Gone were those days
when we laughed with the butterflies,
coloured the cotton candy clouds,
danced with the ocean tides,
built castles of sand,
whistled the wind's sound,
and held the sun in our hands.
Together.

I still paint your name across the sky,
Do you still catch the stars for me?

Sixteen pages now covered
in my swirly writing,
untouched chalky leaves
rustle with veiled future

A story is yet to be told.

Happy birthday to me.

Withered and within
a dying breath
and yarns of endless ephemerae,
like thunder, like lightning,
igniting ages of delusion;

A fear.

Astral and adrift,
I  bloom in adventures,
yet amble in ink of hundred hues,
like a bubble, like a feather,
lazing in prismatic pastels;

A vagabond.

Etched and enshrouded  ,
a fiery trail of my footprints
I have yet to reach,
like a fantasy, like a nightmare,
calling, in dusk-soaked whispers;

A journey.

A life ahead.
Posting after a long time...
This one holds many of my thoughts,
lately they've been drifting a lot
Shrika Apr 2020
Unfinished notes,
Unheeded lessons,
Distracted mind,
Stolen glances,
Fantasies in the day,
Dreams at night,
Chasing a lost cause,
Lovelorn.
Two years later,
I’m still only two benches away from you,
Yet you are a thousand miles away.
Shrika May 2020
Years since acquaintances,
Months since 'You and I',
Fortnights since 'We',
Weeks since  "I love you's"
Days since separation,
Hours since your 'Goodbye',
Minutes since tears,

Not even a second since you.
Shrika Apr 2020
Silky- smooth,
Velvety words,
Envelop me,
Until I'm cosy, and warm,
Illusion of a haven-
Vulnerable, unguarded,
Obscured under my trust-
Words,
Or should I say?
Knives,
Stab me,
Again,
And Again,
Life's draining out of me.
Why did you do this ?

— The End —
