I haven't let anyone in
'cause you're irreplacable my love
Meera May 2018
The princess who chose
To live in exile
Holding  the hand of her husband
With a beautiful smile

Framed in a guile by Ravan
But she didn't fall in his wicked ways
Despite being held captive
And tortured for nights and days

She refused to go with Hanuman
When he came to rescue her
Insisted that Rama come openly to defeat her captor
In Rama's honor exile did she prefer

On the Ravan's  defeat - to prove her purity
She had to walk through fire
But the flames neither touched her body
And nor her attire

The fire bowed in her honor
But that wasn't enough
For the clouds of gloom
Were towering above

The world has never been fair to women
Despite of proving her purity
Sita had to leave
It was the height of cruelty

Cause Rama was as weak
In the face of his men
As strong he was
In front of Ravan

Rama- the man
Sita loved enough to die for
Asked her to leave
To the path that led abhor

Just imagine the way Sita would be looking at Rama
With whom she had to part
For he was standing dumb like a statue
When her world was falling apart

Would she have accused or looked down at him
As she asked mother earth to swallow her
She was going back to where she came from
In order to save the last shred of her honor
Sita was raised by King Janaka; she was not his natural daughter but sprang from a furrow when he was ploughing his field. Rama won her as his bride by bending Shiva’s bow, and she accompanied her husband when he went into exile. Though carried away to Lanka by Ravana, she kept herself chaste by concentrating her heart on Rama throughout her long imprisonment. On her return she asserted her purity and also proved it by voluntarily undergoing an ordeal by fire. Rama, however, banished her to the forest in deference to public opinion. There she gave birth to their two children, Kusha and Lava. After they reached maturity and were acknowledged by Rama to be his sons, she called upon her mother, Earth, to swallow her up.

Sita is worshipped as the incarnation of Lakshmi, the consort of Vishnu. Though often regarded as the embodiment of wifely devotion and self-sacrifice, she is critical of Rama at times, even in the earliest version of the Ramayana, and in some of the later versions of the story she departs from the idealized, chaste image of the earlier text.

While every other woman lusts over gold and diamonds, the only piece of jewelry she owns is her grandma’s silver anklets.
Though everyone has labeled cooking as a tedious job, she still loves to prepare the Sunday brunch for her family.
While all her friends are busy clicking selfies for instagram, she sits in the corner embracing her books.

Unlike those youngsters who love swaying to EDM, she seeks solace in Mohd. Rafi songs.
As crazy and old-fashioned as it may sound but I have seen her wishing on lady birds
. Whenever she feels lonely and desolate she talks to the daffodils she has planted in her garden.
Instead of facebooking all the mishappenings of her life, she shares them with an old diary.
In the age of breakups, patchups and one-night stands, she is still waiting for her soul mate.

On your birthday she won’t post those cheesy birthday wishes on your time line, instead she’ll surprise you with a delicious birthday cake.
While, everyone else gets offended over the stupidest of things, she still believes in the magic of thankyou’s and sorries.
The world has been cold and bitter towards her but she has been spreading the warmth of her love wherever she goes.

‘Use and throw’ is the modus operandi of our generation but she believes in mending broken things
Because the hardships of her life has taught her what does it mean to be broken.
Whenever I  wonder about the emptiness of this world, her kind words are enough to restore my faith in humanity.
She is a bit cautious while making friends but she stands by them in their good or bad times.

She is not weird or crazy; she just belongs to a different time zone. In this ultra-modern world, she is still an old soul
Yeah it's a bit lengthy and doesn't look like a poem either but I don't think I could express it in fewer words

As I put the cigarette between these lips of mine
Just one match and it came alive
The first puff burnt all my worries down
With the second one I got rid of my frown
The third drag made me feel your arms around me
With the fourth one I started feeling free
The fifth puff was warm against the cold air
The sixth one made my vision clear
With the seventh, I could see my spirit dancing in smoke
The last one left me wanting for more
Cigarette smoking is injurious to health....lol

All you see is a smile on her face
Or how she walks with elegance and grace
How her laughter echoes in the air
And how the wind moves her hair
You see her lips painted in red
You see the tiara placed on her head
You see everything she lets you see
But what you don’t see is the real ‘she’
If you really want to see her, get closer
See her anxieties, strangled together
Look at her tears, she hides them better
Look at her soul, a withered flower
Close your eyes, if you want to see more
Can you see that pain, there is lot more
These criss-cross lines you feel on her arms
They are the traces, of her hidden scars
See there in the corner, her heart is lying
see it is bleeding, but not much crying
Listen to the secrets, she whispers in the dark
Hold her hand and you’ll feel a spark
Behind the surface there’s a lot to see
Deep in her eyes there’s a hidden mystery
A lot of mysteries are hidden behind the smile that she carries.

The sun bids adieu to his lover
With a promise to meet later
The sky is red- the color of blood
Reflecting the pain of the earth’s heart
Only god knows how she’ll spend the night
Cold, dark and full of fright
Waiting for her love to return
And in the dawn as the first ray of sun
touches the earth
The darkness fades
And she springs to life again
The sun and the earth
They meet every morning
Only to part
At dusk
The dusk must be an artist. Who else can paint the parting of two lovers so beautifully

You spend your nights tossing and turning on your creaky bed
You hug your demons like a teddy bear
You try to hush your cries for sometime
But still a tear or two escape from your eyes
You attempt to think about the old happy times
But you can't evade the darkness that surrounds you
Sleep has abandoned you like your lost love
And all you do is stare at the ceiling above
You are broken tormented and terrified
In a vicious circle of emptiness and sufferings
You crave for the warmth of your lover's arms
But all you get is the coldness of your bed
For tonight, my friend let the moon be our messenger
Through it lets talk about our broken hearts, lost love and shattered dreams
Let's talk about the pain that clouds our eyes
Let's share the warm hugs of kindness
Amidst this pain, let's not forget that we are warriors
Souls who refuse to give in
We'll fight against our demons like the warriors we are
We'll rise above this world once and for all
Never give up

You were there when I was basking in all my glory
When I had this halo of light around me
You held my hand when I got a butterfly tattooed on my back
You kissed me often when my lips were smooth and perfect
You caressed my body when it was still beautiful
You loved me from the bottom of your heart or at least you said so
You stood on your knees one summer afternoon
You gave me a diamond – a promise of ‘forever’
But soon the weather changed and it got cold outside as well as inside
My once bright soul turned dark and grey
My skin has scars painted in red
My lips are now chapped and dry
And my body it’s just a lump of flesh now
You loved me then but you don’t love me now
‘Cause a few forevers last only for a summer
I wish I could make him read this.

There are these two words
TOXIC and INTOXICATING
And LOVE
Is both of them

Your parents screaming on the top of their voices
Hurling insults, complaints and abuses
Their relationship on the verge of breaking
Cause now they're tired of faking
You little girl, as delicate as feather
Acting like glue, trying to hold them together
Weak glue
   Poor you......
Children soak up everything they see, feel, and hear. When parents argue excessively and for too long, it can leave children feeling insecure and fearful.

We women
Have our brains inside our knees
Are crazy about shopping
Talk too much
Cry without any reason
Break everyone’s heart
Are weak, dumb
And yes mean and rude
Never accept our fault
Treat our husbands like slaves
Don’t get sarcasm
Get offended too easily
Are dotty about wealth
And are gold diggers by nature
Is there anything left?
In your long list of misogynist ****
Do tell me
So we can finish it one go
I mean what’s the point in repeating
The same lame jokes everyday
Just tired of those lame jokes

you inhale tragedies
and exhale poetry
From where do you get your perseverance?

You’re not a poet because you know those ‘fancy’ words
You’re a poet because every word you write comes straight from your heart

You’re not a poet because people admire your work
You’re a poet because you write for your own contentment and not for people's consent

You’re not a poet because you feel alone
You’re a poet because pen and paper are your biggest companions

You’re not a poet because you understand emotions better
You’re a poet because you let them flow freely

You are not a poet because you’ve failed in love
You’re a poet because you’ve been in love deeper than anyone else

You’re not a poet because you are strong
You’re a poet because you don’t hide your weaknesses

You’re not a poet because you can heal hearts
You’re a poet because you know what it means to be broken
Dedicated to all the poets here. I feel happy to be a part of the community.

It's hell and heaven rolled into one
Meera Jul 2018
One thing I love about people is that they have stories to tell you. Stories that tickle you and make you laugh really hard stories that bring tears to your eyes,
stories which quieten you and make you introspect
stories that awe you, stories which move your ground
stories which change your perception about life
stories that make you question the existence of god and stories which make you believe in him
stories that shake you to the core
stories which make you fall in love with someone and stories which break your heart
stories which make you feel complete and stories which help you realize your flaws
stories which fill you with agony and stories which make you feel blessed
stories which helps you understand the complexity of relationships
stories that make you value the tiny moments of happiness spent with loved ones
stories which kick you in the gut, stories which rip you apart, stories which make you feel naked
stories which scare the hell out of you, stories which bring out the warrior in you
stories that hurt you, stories which heal you
stories which help you find the purpose of your life and stories that stay in your heart forever.
So a person isn’t just a man/woman,
he/she is an untold story, an unsung song, an unread novel and an unraveled mystery waiting to be heard, sung , read and discovered.
All you need is the patience to listen, the warmth to care and the empathy to understand.
The magical world of stories is waiting for you
feel free to tell your stories.

He doesn't burn photographs
He doesn't join therapy sessions
He doesn't smoke too many cigarettes
Nor he drown himself into alcohol
He scratches his wounds daily
And never let them heal
He doesn't try to get rid of the pain
Instead he let it grow on him
He waters the seed of sorrow with his tears
He feeds it with the manure of old memories
He takes it to sleep with him
And nurtures it in himself
Till the moment when every single drop of his blood gets replaced by this pain
Until his fragile heart can bear no more
And his soul starts overflowing with emotions
That's when he dip his pen into this pain
And empty his heart on a piece of paper
He bares his soul for us to feel
He creates poetry that the world would cherish for centuries to come
That's how true poetry comes into existence

you scream her name
everytime you make love to me
and i pretend that
i didn't hear

after all this is business
and i can't mix pleasure with it
Why do you come here everyday?
Meera Dec 2019
loving you was like
gulping the whole sun down my throat

Love is like fire which burns everything that come in its way

Love her like she’s the only girl in the world.
Make her your top-most priority. When you’re awake, think of her. When you’re asleep dream of her. Drink in her beauty even if it’s venomous
Eat up all her words even if they hurt Breathe in her scent even when she’s stinking.
Let the love for her grow on you till your mind is full of her thoughts and your sketch book is full of her portraits.

Paint her scars beautifully with vibrant colors.
Get her name tattooed on your heart. When she strolls in the darkness, wander along.
When she falls down, lie down with her and stare at the night sky.
See the world through her eyes

Hold her hands when she is cold. Embrace her when she is scared.
Kiss her tears when she cries and become the reason behind her smile.

Don’t try to plaster her wounds.
Don’t try to pull her out of her miseries.
Instead, accept her the way she is- scathed and destroyed.

Be ready to kiss her good night at 3 a.m. ‘cause tormented souls like her can’t sleep earlier.

Pour all her insecurities, sorrows and grieves in a wine glass
and gulp them down in one go because that’s all she has to offer you. Emotions are like wine anyway, both get stronger with time.

Struggling with the pieces of her, you might lose your sanity.
Loving her might be difficult, suffocating and disturbing at times but don’t give up on her so easily.

Soon, you’ll know why hurricanes are named after people.
Thanks for reading this.

You have dark circles under your sunken eyes
You’re beautiful
You have pimples on your face
You’re beautiful
You are black, brown or white
You’re beautiful
You have scars on your body
You are beautiful
You have chapped and dry lips
You’re beautiful
You have overgrown eyebrows
You’re beautiful
The shape of your nose isn’t perfect
You’re beautiful
You have chubby cheeks and love handle
You’re beautiful
You ain’t beautiful
Despite of your flaws
But you’re beautiful
Because of them
Perfect with your imperfections
You’re beautiful
know how obsessed we women're about looking prim and proper before leaving the house, sitting for hours in front of the mirror applying those silly beauty products in order to hide our flaws. We truly believe that it can fix all our insecurities. Even I have to wipe make up from my mom's face whenever she overdoes it and trust me I just love doing that though it annoys her a bit. Little does she know how beautiful she looks even without her foundation or mascara
Thankfully I never got into that stuff
