What words can I say
to convey
a cliché?

Your words
and ideas

don’t have
anything
to
say

to give me the strength
to carry on

for
the
day.

You’re annoying me,
just please

get out
of
my
way.

This poem is my presence,
In a world devoid of its quintessence

It needs not know my name,
'Cause I ain't looking for fame

I ain't looking for love,
Already got it from above

I ain't looking for gold,
'Cause ****'s free when I'm old

Neither am I looking for recognition,
'Cause I have my own mission

One's losing is another's winning,
But this oblivious planet
just keeps spinning

Why pursue something that fades,
But ignore the crisis that pervades?

We're living in a world full of baits,
Constantly making us salivate,
Towards the things that manipulate

The brittle but
truth immaculate,

Where dialectics and debates
Flourish and permeate,
But situations only exacerbate

Love now, 'til it's too late

A call to love.
iamtheavatar Mar 2014
I’m a helpless statue carved by man’s hands
Look at me, from this is where my pedestal stands

Fallen out of the sky, my wings are broken firebrands
Like serene meadows from within, like an angel so tragic lands

I’m an offspring of decadence, my will is shut down
Dressed in another man’s linen, the eyes of someone is my gown

Covered in winter snow, yet my whole world is burning down
How I wish they know, how it feels to wear a thorn-like crown

Look at me,
I’m like star dusts falling from the sky

Can’t you see?
Feel the emptiness in my eye

Waste no time.
By now you should have heard my cry

Knitted wings of liberation,
Fly me there somewhere up high

Stay with me, forget reality, and never ask for more
Immersed in jubilance, your love is what I existed for

Vigorous as lightning as
I’m walking the ocean floor

Like an angel so tragic lands,
Like my faded footsteps on your door

I have a wound which
the eye cannot see.
Making riddles out of the obvious.
My heart yet not comprehend,
the impervious mischief of brokenness.

A splash of ennui amidst
the savoring intellect.
Listlessness and apathy
endures mortality.

My heart grew fond
of my own enmity.
Bitterness is truancy
that rivals denouement.

Oh my sweet lacksey-daisy heart,
where do I go from here?
Round and round in the roundabout.
River I kept swimming
head over heels.

I'm thinking of a thought
that I don't understand.
As soon as I admit
I'm alive, I am dead.

They say when you're lonely,
you think too deeply.
Maybe, but I don't care.

Should I go swimming?
Or should I be drowning?
I don't know the difference anymore.

White is black, black is white.
But there is no gray.

Oh my sweet lacksey-daisy heart,
do you believe me?
I don't care.

They say good things about me.
But what does it mean
to look beyond me?
I'm already in the middle,
right before I even started.

The Lord is my Savior,
There’s nothing to deny.

He cleansed away my sins:
He giveth me peace.
He maketh me His son:
He lent me a hand
And put me in His arms.

Yea, though I liveth
In an unholy world,

Thou taught me to live
In a holy way.

For Thou art in heaven,
So shall I be in the day
Of Thy comeback.

Thou maketh a blanket for me
In the coldness of the night.

Thy eyes, they found me
When I was wandering in the wilderness.

Thy never ending mercy and guidance
Shall pour out on me as long as I live

And I will be
with my
Savior
forever.

I hear the ocean make music
Like the rustling of autumn leaves
The sound of them gently rubbing
As she swept my heart like a wind

Singing every word she breathes
Upon a haystack full of needles
With no rhymes, nor pauses
Neither masquerading riddles

Simple and unassuming
She is a beautiful mess
My heart keeps swooning
But I couldn’t care less

Her flaws are fascinating
Like ribbons on her sleeves
Her charm is perfume
Her name is a spell

A graceful soul I see
Inside a feeble shell
To me she’s one and only
And that I can tell

My heartbeat thunders
And chased her nightmares
Like aquamarine
Calm and serene

A thousand, ten thousand words
Isn’t enough to create one phrase
But surely, I wrote a love song for two
Must I recalibrate, I can’t undo

Friends were made out of you and me,
When we sat down under that giant tree,
The true friendship that you gave me,
I’ll cherish it for my lifetime if not for eternity.

My friend, I’m sorry if you think that I don’t see,
And value those simple things you do for me,
But the truth is I always keep them with me,
I say these words to you with all authenticity.

Arigatou Tomodachi! You know how much I love thee,
You are my source of happiness and prosperity,
When I am sad, you’re always there to comfort me,
And likewise, we help each other in times of difficulty.

Friends were made out of you and me,
When we sat down under that giant tree,
The true friendship that you gave me,
I’ll cherish it for my lifetime if not for eternity.

I am weary, I am broken
I am confused, I am wanting
I need You Lord, let Your mercy fall
Hear Your servant in his distress call

Unto you Father, I run and take refuge
You’re a mighty tower in the deluge
Show favor oh Lord to your servant’s call
For he knows You've been good through it all

Chorus:
In my misery I have called on You
In the storm there I found You
You’re waiting on me all along
In Your hands is where I belong

To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul
Hear me oh Jesus, make me whole
To You, O Lord, my rock and fortress
You’re my Savior, my spirit confesses

Repeat Chorus

For I have called on You
And your ears have heard
You turned my wailing into dancing
And my mourning into singing

And now I’ll be praising
‘Cause you have heard me

And now I’ll be praising
‘Cause you have answered me

And now I’ll be praising
Hallelujah! Great is the King!

And now I’ll be praising
Hallelujah! Great is the King!

How do I feel about this?
I'm just too tired,

I guess.

I can't really blame myself,

Can I?

But I can't blame you too.
You're perfect.

My life—

I'm having trouble
Organizing my—

Thoughts.

Thousands of drafts have been rewritten,
Over and over inside my head;
But I can't let myself put it on paper,
Simply because—

It's not perfect.
You're perfect.

I guess in the end, I'm ruined.

Wake up sleeper!
Your summer days are over.
Tidy up and prepare for winter,
lest you be caught off guard.

For we have a steeple with lots of faces,
and symbols and catchphrases,
and pulpits and pews

—but never a
Duluoz and Kerouac.

And do not mistake
silence for absence.
And patience for
impotence.

For just as the sun rises
from the east.
So shall justice be served
for the least.

So then, let us say:

May our days be numbered,
and our troubles few.
And may this sweet surrender
bring us life anew.

I still taste your
honey-like-tongue
as if it was
like yesterday.

Feels like
the first time
we kissed
each other
on a
rainy day.

I still dream of you
every night
even
though
we’re through.

Oh, I hate
the feeling that
I still can’t
get over you.

I still feel
your sugar-like-lips;
you let
them
wander
around my body.

I don’t know why
I get so excited
every time
you do it
to me.

I can’t resist
your temptations.

I’m drowning
in my
deepest
emotions.

Our hearts fit perfectly
Like wooden puzzle pieces
Cut from the same tree
Both have the same sadness,
Both share the same joy

Intertwined from birth,
Only but the two of us
The transliteration of our pulses
Forms the fixation of our beings;
The communication of our synapses
Pulls each other's heartstrings

No one else can feel,
Only but the two of us
The intangible connection
Between two worlds;
The eponymous heartbeats
Of our tethered hearts

May the world be my enemy,
And its chaos my sanctuary
But I'll never trade the times
For a hundred billion dimes

And if one day I lose you;
I'll borrow from the future
And lend to the past
Just to see you near me
Darling so dear; holding so fast

Listen* to what I'm about to tell you,
Because this matter is very important
For it will give you great advantage on
How to write a poem

Put your right hand against your forehead,
Make sure the dorsal surface touches it
Now make a rightward circular motion;
Because your head's been aching for hours

Apply more pressure to your massage
As you squeeze your nape up and down
Then make circular neck motions—to the left; to the right
Whilst you look for the menthol liniment

And now you've found your relief formula;
Which caused you more harm than good
Because your bedroom is a jungle—
Full of mysterious creatures and uncharted places

Now open the lid and pour a little amount
On your left palm, and rub vigorously
With your right hand, and massage gently
Your frontal lobe; apply more if necessary

Now wait just for a couple of minutes
Notice that the heat is starting to permeate;
And your mind begins to take a deep breath
From its calming and soothing effect

And now you're feeling a whole lot better
You're acting like a normal person again
And now you're ready to write your poem
If all else fails, repeat everything from step one

Whenever* you come
Across my mind,
I imagine myself
With you down the aisle.

Who can resist
Your sweet face?
Your bright eyes
Full of hope?

I will never know
The mystery behind,
Two strangers sharing
The same heart.

And I will never know
The reason behind,
Two people connecting
For the very first time.

How much fate
Is at work,
When two souls find each other
Without knowing why?

And how much love
Is there in friendship,
When two strings form a bond
And strengthened by time?

I will never know.

Ode to Self

Walking on my own in this road to nowhere
I have thought my life was a whole lot better
Without the things that I used to consider
Superficial like love that made me bitter

Then an angel came to me in a jiffy
Dressed in golden feathers with lips like ruby
Suddenly I was enthralled by her beauty
Misery left me then came my love story

She gave me her heart and I found my shelter
At last my cry was like the rushing river
Can’t imagine why God put us together
Only to be with another’s arms sooner

It’s hard to live in the shadows of her past
Happiness gave company yet left so fast
I don’t have the clue of how long will I last
Like a fracture in a sculpture with a cast

My hopes have faded like the stars were aligned
Like prayers answered like proposals declined
Bursting with ideas from an empty mind
Beauty of irony which left them behind

I have heard limericks from my broken heart
Pieces of memories being torn apart
Mosaics of truth that built a fancy art
But I don’t want to go back from where I start

Ode to Beloved

Sassy lady how lovely you shine so bright
Blind me, come and take away my precious sight
Do you want me to go on a solo flight?
Or be a tool for another man’s delight?

Oh ears of my dearly loved can you hear me?
Draw closer to me please respond to my plea
Heed the sonata of my melancholy
It feels like I’m falling with no gravity

You‘ve lost your sight from the dimness of the dusk
You’ve fooled your own heart when you wore on that mask
Love was next to you even if you don’t ask
Like a machine with an automated task

Hey girl do you see a man from your future?
Do you know that he would stitch up your suture?
From sorrows that have caused your heart to rupture
Which made you weak and soon became your nature

If metaphors can be like reality
And reality can foresee destiny
I don’t know how happy it would be for me
If you could make sense of my allegory

Just gaze at nowhere but only in the front
Disregard the pasts that persist as they haunt
Like carcasses in graves so ghastly and gaunt
Walk with me make sure it isn’t just a jaunt

Love.* I just saw her.
I did not know anything about her.
But I knew she was the one.
Yet I did not listen to my heart.

And then I met someone.
Still my heart's not at home.
And as days turn to months,
Now I'm back on my own.

And so after two years...

Love. I just saw her. Again.
I still don't know anything about her.
But I know she is the one.
And now I'll be listening to my heart.

Love is her name.

Oh how I always feel uneasy,
When I think about her.
She does not even know me.
But my heart beats for her.

Her eyes are like pebbles,
Thrown into the water and ripples.
Her smile is like a thousand doves,
Flying through the velvet clouds.

Though we're worlds apart,
All the more I pray.
To have the courage to say,
She has taken over my heart.
On that one fine day.

Your love brings me to tears.
How can I ever repay You?
You are like no other.

You’re the God who saves the sinners.
Your love brings
repentance and healing
to the brokenhearted.

No words can describe
the love You’ve shown me.

You see my heart,
a heart
that wants
to proclaim Your name.

I wanna sing this love song to You Father
for you have been gracious and merciful to me.

You were there when I am broken,
You never left me through the pain.

And I now I wanna cry at
Your feet and hug You my Dad!

Your love sees no wrong in me.
Even though I’ve failed you so many times,
still you chose to love me.

And now I wanna sing
to You Father with all of my heart!
I wanna cry to You. Cry to You
and be at peace.

Father, there can never be like You.
No one in this world can do what you did for me.

You have seen me from the
depths of my brokenness.

You have lifted me up to the
heights of Your gloriousness.

And now I wanna sing this love song to You Father.
I wanna sing it with all of my heart.

I just want to pour out my heart to You,
now and for the rest of my life.

Sacrifices
and
offerings
you didn’t
desire.

It’s me you have given your life to.

I just wanna sing it with all of my heart.
I just wanna feel your nearness to me now.

I just wanna sing this
love song for You.

Lubhang mapanganib
ang sinumang daig
ng isang dayuhan umibig
sa 'di sinilangang bayan.

O, anong poot at sigalot
ang kanyang itinanim
sa Kaluntiang nagbigay-lilim
sa kanyang murang katawan,
Upang silaban at yurakan
ang kabanalan ng kasarinlan

Ang magkapatid ng pisi
ay 'di dapat magtunggali,
Ngunit ang isang bayaran
ay masahol pa sa kawatan

Kaya ako'y nananawagan
sa maringal kong Haring Bayan,
O, kanyang tipunin
Mga anak ng Dakilang Lahi,
Handang paglingkuran
ang lupang kinamulatan

Pagkat ang aking lupang kinamulatan
ay isang makatang manunulat,
Siya ay bukal ng kaluwalhatian,
Angkan ng kayumangging balat

Samakatuwid, bigyang pansin
ang nagngangalit na damdamin
ng Sinaunang Mandirigma,
Sa awit ng himagsikan
dumaloy ang himig ng dangal,
At sa kalupkop ng kanyang sandata
lumigwak ang kagitingan
magpasahanggang kamatayan,
Sa ngalan ng kalayaan

You are not beaten
Your strength isn't broken
Your heart keeps beating

Have faith

When your ears start to get numb
By the sound of a thousand cries
And your knees can't lift you up

Look up

A glimpse of hope there is
When mountains fall around you
And the grounds below cut open
Nothing will shake your courage

Nothing will

This is something to remind you
When the earth forgets your name
At the roundabout of time

Look up

Behind the clouds where
The sun shines brightest
Streams of dreams endure
At the top of the mountains
