see the beached whales bleeding from the ears

who cried themselves to death

and the falcons that nest on top of skyscrapers

never knowing the forest

?

i feel like a cat up a tree sometimes

chasing after lost kites

old hearts and lost loves

never will be forgotten

but lost and gone forever

a bond of brokenness

a hunger for something forever out of reach

always searching never finding

a bond of brokenness

a hunger for something forever out of reach

always longing never belonging

a sailor's under the sea

forever kissing mermaid lips

a fish out of water

a visionary in an insane asylum

me out in the world

you a distant light

friendship band under a park bench

discarded among cigarette butts

a bond of brokenness

a hunger for something forever out of reach

always searching never finding

a bond of brokenness

a hunger for something forever out of reach

always longing never belonging

half heart necklaces torn from the throat

half heart necklaces torn from the throat

half heart necklaces torn from the throat

we're packed like sardines but everyone's alone

a bond of brokenness

a hunger for something forever out of reach

always searching never finding

a bond of brokenness

a hunger for something forever out of reach

always longing never belonging

In the morning as the storm begins to blow away
the clear sky appears for a moment and it seems to me
that there has been something simpler than I could ever
   believe
simpler than I could have begun to find words for
not patient not even waiting no more hidden
than the air itself that became part of me for a while
with every breath and remained with me unnoticed
something that was here unnamed unknown in the days
and the nights not separate from them
not separate from them as they came and were gone
it must have been here neither early nor late then
by what name can I address it now holding out my thanks

I'm not sure what time it is.
Especially not right now.
There is no "right now".

By the time we can calculate
The exact millisecond of right now,
It's already over.

I went out on an April morning
All alone, for my heart was high,
I was a child of the shining meadow,
I was a sister of the sky.

There in the windy flood of morning
Longing lifted its weight from me,
Lost as a sob in the midst of cheering,
Swept as a sea-bird out to sea.

Having fun, all day,
Disaster strikes.
Red bar, 0%,
Battery dies.

This generation should log off more often.

As she returned home,every day after school, he used to tell her how impatiently he was waiting for his ‘lovely little lady’;
Asked her if the sums and solutions, the paragraphs and phrases troubled, and that she was too delicate to be overburdened to study

He used to complement her on her lips, saying that they are ‘small and fat and cute’,
And, looking into her wild, enamouring eyes that ‘they contrasted brightly with her face that looked so innocent and pure

When he told her “You are timid”, he pronounced it like “You are dynamite”;
And she used to mock the way he said ‘Turkish’, which initiated between the two, another love-fight

He had a baritone, like a real gentleman’s, a voice that soothed with mildness, all the worries of her heart;
She was selfless, anxious about nothing in the world except him, and wished to live with him forever, and never-ever part

But destiny intervened, and a tragedy, a deadly one, took him far away from her, to his heavenly abode;
Broken were the dreams, the hopes, and the fragrant thoughts of their prospective future which they together had sowed

No one, anymore, cared, or waited for her to get back home; his absence had almost killed the most of her already,
While the remaining vestiges she burnt down herself, for she couldn’t find any place to vent, or any escape from the painful reality

Her once-ensnaring eyes, became lakes of tears as they splashed continually, yearning to have just a glimpse of something she used to call her own;
Her ears became indifferent to any other worldly sound as she wanted to hear only his magical voice, echoing through and through, penetrating her soul

Destitute of fate, she now reflected- how helpless a person is, to the whims of crude, cruel, destiny
And for lack of his, or rather, of anyone’s attention, this pretty princess was strewn upon the paths of insanity

So, you know, not every princess's story ends in pink.

A most cruel joke
it would be
to be given the ability
to feel alive
only for it to be taken
away
one day
by an all consuming
death,
with nothing after.
It seemed to me
that hope was born
the day
man realized this.
