"edify" poems
‘Hemphu’ and ‘Mukrang’
Created this world!
We were born under the ‘Amora tree’
from the egg of ‘Wo Plak Pi’.
Then ‘Sum’ and ‘Sang’ trained us,
Edify us ‘karjong is everywhere’
It is there in air, soil, water, plant, animal.....
Every where!
So we must have admiration for them,
Must nurture and protect them!
Hearting ‘Krjong’ is a crime!
Now everywhere
There is a Chaos!
Rain fades away
Forest disappears
‘Ingnar’ and ‘Bongkrui’ar
are suffering from starvation!
Searching food here and there!
Now everywhere
There is a bedlam!
‘Hanthu’ and ‘Mehek’ are wane
Searching them in day and night!
How we prepare food for ‘Thong Nokbe’!
Now ‘Hi-i-Arnam’ is wandering
Everywhere!
Call everybody
Organize ‘Cho-jun’
to Keep karjong everywhere!
Call one and all
organize ‘Rong Arnam’
To shield karjong everywhere!
Call everyone
organize ‘Wophong Rongker’
To protect ‘karjong’ everywhere!

It’s the dawning of a new day
and my heart can’t help but sing;
Your grace and tender mercies flow
from the eternal realm of my King.
Shine the brightness of Your Light,
deep into the blackness of my soul;
direct my steps away from sin’s abyss
with Your standard of self-control.
Illuminate my spirit with the radiance
of Truth, that’s found within Your Word.
Continue to educate and edify me daily
with messages that were previously unheard.
Although I presently reside on Earth,
Your Kingdom holds my first citizenship.
Train me to be Your ambassador by showing
how I am permanently… called to worship!

***"To all the fallen Kids, Heroes and Sheroes that fell victim to the massacre of June 16 1960, Sharpeville, Soweto…
Callings for new Seeds and Haloes, we pray for new Victors and Messiahs…coz still we ask “So where to?”***
Worthy knowledge deserves the one who will acknowledge, it found another, he was in shortage, threatened, he found joy in carnage.
Retaliation turned sour, as we shed tears for fallen heroes. Rest in peace to all the Petersens, the Malcolms and the Bikos.
Great minds edify and think beyond limits and sky.
This systematic routine of life laced with politics and economy infiltrates us numb, living in a liberated space and yet at times feeling so dumb.
To equip oneself with the truth, the past, broadens the mind with a quality that will seize to last.
A continent, must be God’s definition of art, beautifully authentic ancient dark civilization…envy must’ve burned the heart.
Propaganda made victims, a disease intended to chronic; now all that’s seen is reversed conscious, invincible and sonic.
Pride is you, continent, head up, chest up, we becoming confident. Mother of the soil shining naturally yet shining somewhat redundancy.
Reconciliation over retribution, an astounding virtue, still forging a social democracy.
Peace will be hard to find in this pandemonium world.
True healing comes from divine providence, I was told.
Male and female, human beings, we need to perceive each other like nature, true identity knows no stranger.

And with hot branding, I name the end, it is unknown Obadiah, it is uncompromising Demosthenes, it is ambuscaded Agamemnon,
it is crafty Cain, it is able to pull lightning down from clouds to electrify a world beset upon by forces of great magnitude, vibrations ricochet off of each other, quaking knee's knock as earthquakes rock tectonic plates.
In this final hour what was once to edify is now to petrify and once let free the fire is an esurient monster after being kept so long locked behind the now yawning earthen gates, witness even the most pluvial flourishing plain blister and boil, witness unyieldingly the flesh bubbling in flux as if from extreme cell proliferation, another soul abdicates its husk.
Mayhap this life will lead to another, as If there will be a choice project an air-less voice on the matter, will this If, insist on this If,
hold your breath in front of polyonymous Death, let without a moan a trembling icy finger trace lips of now great pallor and make the word-less decision known, no more cyclical reaping of our worn souls says humanity and beg on the now naked ruth for our sanity.

Most fail to understand the spiritual secret,
regarding the true power of the human tongue.
Proper and improper usage of its strength, allows
one to create consequences, that are far flung.
Consider the idea of words as ‘containers’,
housing both creative and destructive powers.
For even God is bound (Scripturally) by His Word.
Learn to alter your speech, starting this very hour.
Although you’re free to choose what is spoken,
allow your lips to be completely free of guile;
be disciplined and utter Biblical truths regularly
to avoid Satan’s ageless traps of worrisome trials.
The Godly principle of ‘sowing and reaping’,
demonstrates that our words have responsibility attached;
the unleashing of power may be initially unseen,
but either acts of good or evil have been dispatched.
Will you decide to edify and exhort souls today
or unwittingly deflate the spirit of others?
Can you be slow to speak and quick to listen?
Will you help or harm… your sisters and brothers?
Don’t let unnecessary, careless words fall onto the ground;
speak with kindness, thoughts, that are Scripturally sound.

Performance Management!
Yes, that's what I'd like to mention
In case we have a school inspection
But not the stodgy paper filling invention
Where evidence of professional skill
Is demanded to prove you follow the drill
No! I mean the superlative performances delivered each day
To our attentive audiences who appreciate this played out measure
Of rhetoric
Of our managed one-act stage-shows
With dynamics that edify, illuminate and encourage the questions
That plumb the depths of our pupils perceptions
And we cannot deny these feats and endeavours
Nurture our own sense of self and self-worth,
Deep touching that place in our psyche
Of being, belonging
And yet still longing.
Scurrying to classes we prepare our acts
Weaving our subjects' underpinning facts
Into the drama we call the lessons
There can be who we want to be
Command the floor
We're teaching professionals
And, oh, so much more....

Your companionship is an inspiration,
The love you share has groomed me to live rightly in my generation,
Your hardwork and care rekindles my lifes passion,
I hope to be like you,and be less of a fool,
I don't mind being called old school
If what I'm doing is what you know as genuine and true,
God has blessed you,
You've come this far because you need to testify,
And they need to see the two of you and verify,
That indeed true love exits and edify-
Us and make us realise that the new immoral "laws" of society we can defy.

Speaking One's mind
isn't always the best idea.
Sometimes, One is much better off
keeping it to One's self.
Try doing what I do:
carry a pen and notebook all the time
and write down those thoughts;
transmute thy darkness into a muse.
Make it constructive
rather than destructive,
lest it poison your life
as opposed to enriching it.

I’ve been taken captive by an infinitely lasting quandary; my life.
Time has revealed to me the fallacious nature of my conception.
Every blemish, stain, transgression on this once innocent and immaculate vessel pervades into the red blood cells coursing through my veins.
A smoky haze has befallen me from the clouds above; I am shrouded in murk and obscurity.
I can no longer see my way out of delirium and oblivion seems imminent during this seemingly perpetual moment.
Flying high above the clouds, the Lord has seen my distress.
Tacit supplications have led me to rebirth; I plea for repentance; I beg to be cleansed of all iniquity.
The elements within me have been perfected all within a split second; darkness and tarnished blood become baptismal aqua
-I exist to edify-
From this moment on I am on this Earth to illuminate its confines with iridescence.
Flames of a pearly white composition surround my spirit and soul.
The ebony clouds originating from The Adversary can no longer encumber me from progressing along life’s winding road.
Butterflies enrapture me as I am lifted into the stratosphere; time stops for but a moment and I metamorphose into a spiritual being of the highest caliber.
I am an iridescent sphere that is shining brighter than the Sun.
Chemical reactions taking place within the confines of my soul spur my transformation.
I am a sacred parcel carrying the message of a brighter tomorrow.
The winds of change have just begun to brush gently against my shoulders.
As the lightning flashes off in the distance an overwhelming feeling of tranquility befalls a once ailing heart.
Though stars may fall; celestial bodies may be shaken; I will remain…
-In spirit-

FRAGILITY
How fragile is the rose
how brittle the wings of the butterfly
it's sad but true
how soon beauty does fade and die
How tender is our love
every moment that does come by
we strengthen and edify
true love knows no fragility--it's eternal like the sky

Why are our minds so filled
With worthless useless thoughts
Things that have no worth
Things we should think not
Why can we not focus
On what is good and kind and right
Think on thoughts that edify
And escape the dark thoughts of night
The things we let into our mind
An image a word a sound
Are sown as seed and planted there
Growing till only those thoughts abound
Be ever mindful of the crop
That in your mind you grow
For what it is we think
Over time we shall surley sow

Take that risk
And enlighten yourself
Never stop growing
Entertain, edify, and reach for that top shelf
The gold is yours
Be willing to broaden your mind
The answer is there within
Just take things one step at a time

Twisted eyes of oak and ivory
Clanging, rusting gears of old, wily whispers
Hear the whimpering window drops
Across sadistic crossed circuits
Within an unwavering edifice to edify
In a masked evanescent parade.
Why must I watch?
Why must we learn?
Just another face in the crowd
Staring with ageless eyes
Among sheltered innocents
Walking within shadows
Driven by no desire
Where echoes of different
Times resound.
Looking for memories of yesterdays
Left unfound.
Stagnate in the suffocating silence
I, emotional exile
I, fugitive from freedom
Against image defined.
They, surrendered to mediocrity
They, shed the age old scent of our commonness
For machine refined.
Shocked reality
Mocked integrity
The wheels of industry ground.
Bold repressiveness shut out lives.
Opinions bent toward standard waves
Bleaching out divergent shades.
To fall out of use-
Too much allowed is the end of you
By excused abuse.
Vague ideals
Within profound direction.
Systematic spontaneity.
Weakened, weary prey
Synchronized in their play;
Immersed in the cause
All sacrificed inner needs
In collective reality
Collective response.

God don't leave me behind
I'm not a ******
And I'm no thief
You show me love
Through every way
You know how
And ignore you, all the same
I don't acknowledge you as much as I should
Yet you bless me
I try to mend broken hearts
I care for those who don't care about themselves
I strive to make this world a better place
Isn't that enough to hear at least a word
I wished I loved you as much as my lover does
But I don't want to love you because I'm afraid my lover will eventually leave me if I soon don't
Although not loud enough to drown my praise and love for you
Small thoughts linger in my mind wondering if there's anyone out there hearing my pleas
I want to edify people's lives
But what good am I without you
But all the same I ain't no saint or priest
Can I deal with not believing in you?
If not you, than who or what
I'm distraught, and falling apart
Yet when I forget to remember you are there
I seem to be alright
What if I get to the point where you completely leave my mind
Nonsense, hope I fear not that thought
Strip me down and take me bare
Take everything away from me
And give it to someone who deserves it more
Perhaps my lover is overdue for your bliss
I know I ain't no one to demand you show yourself to me
Make me miserable and take me on a search
Trouble me until you show me light or let me die
I don't want to be voluntary to your love
You must force me to focus my love on you and no one else
How can this burning love and pain for humanity
Be randomly in my soul
Surely, there's something that's pushing me there
And that has to be you
My carnal body sins and I'm ashamed
But if you really want to show your love
Control my mind
My body ain't worth a dime
But my soul screams I want out!
There is a spirit in me and its searching for that place it belongs
The thought of a mechanism in the psychology of my mind
Faintly lingers while I research myself
Pure intentions then fight with cynicism invading the border lines
But how can man manufacture the soul
Am I being cynical for thinking maybe someone has or soon will
God is there a point in not believing in anything
Converting and finding myself in such a way is just a game
How can there be meaningfulness and purpose without faith
You have to be real but why don't I consider you in everything I do
Life is going so fast
I stray away from hearing
Music praising your name
Because I'm ashamed that I haven't prayed today
Suddenly I get annoyed
Why? Because I'm reminded to thank you for keeping me alive
You should be the center of my day
I'm sorry
In your love I want to change
And I don't want to feel guilty about being with the one I love
God don't leave me behind

Strange to a wicked land
Won't use life's bad hand
As an excuse to sin again
But then again his inner man is unexempted
From mistakes made at times when his flesh is tempted
He chose to live right
Chose to tithe, chose to give right
Chose to use his words to edify instead of incite
Heated discussions that may escalate to something worse
But he used his words to bless a life instead of curse
Encourages others, even when he needs it more than them
Because a love inside was given by the one who died for him
His next relationship will be the last one he seeks
When God directs him to his future wife slash help meet
They'll raise a family in the perfect way God designed it
With his Word being the foundation there aligned with
And through it all, he'll understand his righteous life's a vapor
Then will fade into the everlasting arms......of his Savior

I took the seat across and breathe deeply
Trying to ignite the will to last the night to make it easy
Folios with galloping notes reflected my eyes
Ascribing them as you started rippling nice
Taking your place behind those keys
while I guard the front as it seems
You fiddled the catguts, and I learned their secrets
And as you edify, I got lost in the sequence
You exuded the decree to keep my valiance
I lodged around the shadows keeping my silence
Risking the chance that was left of me
As I chant the cadence with complexity
I ogled before you with such esteem
As my mind creeps alone towards glaucous dream
Wishing that in every thing written in the sky,
You will always be my Marshall and I am your Spy

Press your finger tips against mine
(You see in ways I cannot fathom)
Though they will never be close enough
To truly touch,
For between the fibers of your skin and mine
Grows a thickening membrane
Of impenetrable strength and power
Of keeping your world just so slightly different
From mine,
so I can weep in waves of rapture
And yet you feel none of it.
The worlds we separately inhabit
(So linear, but unable to intersect)
Are near enough to interact
And allow our eyes to covet
That which we cannot reach or understand.
(But what are you, if not my reflection?)
If only I could breech this disconnect,
I would pull you in, and edify your soul
With the way in which my eyes do see thee,
And the way that I do love thee.
And perhaps
you would love me too.
Mais non, c’est impossible.

"I puke poetry as an underrated enlightenment",
I tell him.
Everything’s tongue-related
when you meet someone for the first time.
puff & pass.
With laugh lines on his lips,
and an embracive composure, he says to me:
*then turn your insides out
and sigh to me what I lack
edify me on existence
& unforeign me*
Isn’t that what you do afterall?

To you,
Substitute-
A mere copy,
Nothing more than a
Last minute stand in.
I am addressing
You and only you
Mr Substitute.
You who maliciously
Attempted to make my
Son feel less than;
You who with your
Contrived agenda
Sought to edify
Your unequivocal ignorance
Thinking that the
Young Puerto Rican boy was
Likely another statiscal
Data point representing
Yet another victim of a
Fatherless phenomenon yet,
There we were-
That Puerto Rican boy's
Mother and Father
At the school house,
Bright and early
To shine a light and
Expose your uneducated and
Ill informed ***
May we
You and I
Discuss politics on an
Even playing field
Mr. Substitute,
While in your little world
You fumble over
Your phone
Pressing 1 for English or
2 for Spanish,
Let me translate
Let me educate
You substitute
So that next time
You decide to
run your mouth,
Consider keeping mute.
Before you choose
To marginalize
An entire race
Let's have a face to face
Mr. Substitute
My son comes from
Those very people
You express such
Disdain for
Those people who
Have bled and died
For this country since
The first World War
Perhaps that historical fact
Escapes you
While you make no effort to
Teach the truth
You can't hide the fact that
They also bled and died
In the name of freedom in
World War Two
Korea
Vietnam and Panama
Iraq and Afghanistan
Serving, bleeding, and dying
Just hoping to secure
Their place
Amongst society
So that you can
Let loose your vile tongue.
Instead of teaching
The value of equality
And sparking a sense of
Hope in the young,
Understand though
Mr. Substitute
Both karma and I are
Far from done.
I chose to exercise civility
In my quest to
Teach you a lesson
In humility
A lesson in diversity
Oh how I wish
that were me
Looking back at you
In that classroom
Mr. Substitute.
Fortunately,
The blood that runs
Through my fiery veins
Runs through my sons.
Under no circumstance
Will he accept the
***** matter that
Effortlessly flows
Through your
Venemous lips.
Unlike you
Mr. Substitute
We are accepting of others
Even if you yourself are
Nothing short of
A misguided
Intolerant bigot,
My son and I
Refuse to
Stand idly by
Without exposing
You as the
Village idiot.....
Mr. Substitute

It is the mother’s care which perks up us,
In our family and clan ………,
In our space and time…..,
In our dream, thought and prayer.. !
It is our mother..
Who edify us, ‘how to begin life…’
Make our life vivacious and beautiful!
It is our mother…
Who create hurdles on our way...
Pose limit to our greed!
It is our mother….
Who define way for us ….
Accomplish our need!
It is our mother….
Whom ……
We worship….
Adore….
We internalize to our brain and vein
To our blood ….
Soul….
Our mother lives in
Land… soil… forest… river ……………,
Even in leaf ..flower, fruit, egg……………
Everybody call her ‘Nature’!

The kind of words I love to read
Are words that inspire
Words that spark an ember
That flashes into a fire
Words that encourage
And words that edify
Are easy on the mind
And pleasing to the eye
Words that are motivating
Within their ebb and flow
Can be to someone transformative
As they forward go
A word of optimisim
Can bring forth a clearer view
And be so very refreshing
When you think it could be true
We should always guard our mind
Against negative word intrusion
Allowing only what builds up
To have in our mind inclusion
Every word we read affects our life
In the context of its composition
For all words read hold the power
For mind and thought transition
