The cave opens it's great crumbling maw,
streaks of light fall on the sparse green blades,
which dot the floor,
mushrooms push forth from the ground,
like fingers reaching to air,
the gurgling of a stream,
dances along a riverbed path,
paradise enclosed,
by earthen walls and canopy,
the glen lit by diffused and dappled sun.

Stop and breathe
It isn't worth it
Try and pull back
I know how the tunnel vision works
I've been there
I've seen the darkness
But I promise,
There is a light
You may not know right now
With anxiety high as the sky
Listen to me now
Focus on one voice-
The valleys are as beautiful as the mountains
Take a step away
Make a little distance
Breathe the cold, fresh air
I promise
I promise you'll see it
There is a light, beyond the horizon
Just keep climbing
A note to myself, or anyone needing, from myself. You'll get there.

I was standing atop the mountain
and the wind blew west
and I could see the leaves follow after her

I was standing atop the mountain
and as the snow fell I could see the smoke rise
and the ash became angels

I was standing atop the mountain
and the rams were fighting where she used to stand
and as one fell I had to look away

I was standing atop the mountain
and the sun was setting
and I could see the colors bleeding all over the sky

I was laying in the valley
and the rain made me cry
For someone special.

Here I am
living an unreal dream.

The stars collide together
the forest breathes it in.
the waters speak softly
and here I am,
dreaming.

All around me there is life.
The air never sweeter
the grass never greener
the song of the birds never so melodious.

How I bask in this moment
how I smother myself in its embrace.

I rest easy
and let nature take its course.
Over valley, over meadow,
over stream, over glen,
over the bluest skies
and the tallest trees
over the birds that fly
and over the raging sea,
that is where you will find me.

Wrapped in my thoughts
surrounded by the things I love
with peace in my heart
and joy in my spirit.

That is where you will find me
Living in a perfect dream.

Rain is coming
In this dry and barren land.

You may expect it to come in a cool mist
Or tiny raindrops that pitter-patter on your red roof,
But if you look up to the far horizon you'll see
Giant pillars of clouds in the sky
Casting heavy dark shadows.
From it you'll know that

Rain is coming
And it is coming in a heavy downpour .

The howling winds will whip us.
The rain will soak our skin
And the cold will seep into our bones.
Deafening thunders will pierce
Not only our ears but also our hearts.
Structures will be struck by lightning
And erupt in flames.
Mountains will crumble.
Valleys will flood.
And we will have no choice
But to hold on to each other
Or perish.

But when the sky calms down and the storm subsides,
The light of day will reveal
A city cluttered with chaos,
Beyond rearranged:
Reinvented.
But now
Dry streams are once again
Flowing with coolness and clarity.
The floods had revived the parched soil,
The sleeping seeds we have planted, now awakened.

Finally
There will be growth,
There will be progress,
There will be abundance, overflowing.
We will be blessed
And called to be a blessing to others.

Finally
Our toils and tears will have justice.
Our faults and failures will have mercy.
But in our depth and in our death,
Grace:
Unconditional,
Richly lavished.

Countrymen
Bear the dry dust a little longer,
Just keep fighting the faith
And holding on to hope.
And when it comes,
Welcome the sky with open arms
But at the same time
Brace yourselves for

**Rain
Is
Coming.

Fog
Darkness brings thoughts of you
Over my concrete walls like fog
Cloud this mind
Move oh so slowly

Filling each valley with an unclear desire
Not a moment left untamed
Gently roaming and expanding
A thousand midnights yet, not one the same

So afraid of morning
Clean and new
But left behind, a beautiful sight
This subtle glimpse of you

Which lay upon each blade
To soak back through
To the core of my mind
So still and so confused

I wish I could reach up and reset that sun.
Back to yesterday, when you said I was "the one".

Back to when I loved you, and you loved me.
and whatever would be, would simply be.

When our love was deeper than the immense sea
and as big as a wide open valley

When our love was as beautiful as a snow-capped mountain
and more wishful than the water from the coin fountain

(Inspired by article below)

I.

Continuity
your filibuster egg of sand
dazzled curiosity
with creaky shell of hints
heaped upon the tedium
of knowledge's unfurl undeterred
by encyclopedic impatience

Assurances of rip(Van Winkl)ed
economics shooed paper strings of
revelation like anarchy-powered
taxes summoning a foreword
to anachronistic campaigns
of environmental friendliness

II.

Meanwhile years
have been filed down to flashes of
chronology for continuity's organic rebus

However long it took
the economic karma to fall into the
abodes of hedonistic pharaohs
it was instant

Skin that ruled behind the constitution
of allergic breath
bailed on the bones against their most
sublime intentions

Limbo-treading landlords
huddled in their mummified freeze
after breadline bashers scolded them
with the spoils of a new brand
of pyramid scheming

Robbers of the coffin palaces
stole the intimations of identity
theft from today

Immortality and freedom
were compelled to share a meaning
like estranged siblings
or bound dynasties

I(a).

Abydos
how you coyly toyed with us
with a diversion bordering on monolithic

Tinctures of orange beam around
the stuffy air

Every thing is still,
thick,
and dark emerald

The suns yoke at high noon
casts a fiery shade
over vast valleys
rolling into eternity

The roses wilt as they bake,
crisping under the ever glorious
rays, creeping from vermilion
to chocolate.
There is a bit of a seasons theme running here.
