I shout out on the misty cliff
My echo answers back
Alone I stand to blame for this
Left searching for the facts

The Stars know I have spent my life
In search of how to reach them
I've jumped and fallen, climbed and fell
My thoughts, I want to teach them

If I can give my knowledge up
The stars can shine it down
They'll teach the world my secrets kept
Then maybe we won't drown
"Count the sheep
To go to sleep"
Said my mom when i was little

"Count the sheep
Rather than weep"
And i listened
For that riddle

I listened for my mother
For my whole life
But for now

Now i must listen
When my heart
Subseeds to frown

And that riddle echos on
And my mind begins to spin
And without a doubt
I have to shout...
The sheep will soon run out

"Count the sheep
To go to sleep...
Until u count no more,
Then go to bed, and wait instead,
Until u know what you wait for."
One day you must say goodbye to the traditions of the past, you must also learn to recognise whats truely just.

Please, take the handle
Of this forsaken candle
And teach how to burn...

Long ago, it couldn't handle,
this poor forgotten candle,
The way that love does ache and does burn...

parents teach us
how to take care of ourselves
but all we really want to find
is someone to do it for us

they teach us
how to manage the stress of life
but they don't want us
to handle it alone

teach us
how to care for
and love ourselves
but they want someone there
if we ever forget how

i found my someone

love
It means the glue to whatever makes up you,
It is the number unimaginable but you already knew,
It is like a birds eye view of the outside of a zoo,
It is your break through.
It is the memory of why you are what you're put through
Love is who taught me to be me and you to construe,
So when he falls you dont fall too,
My name is meaningless; a loose glove,
It means nothing without love.

My mother always said
'Strong people never fail'
But she didn't teach me
That you're worse enemy can be yourself.
Momma.
Why didn't you teach me
That when I'm 17 years old
Alone in bed
I'll cry because I feel so broken
I'll wake up
Cake on my make up
And draw a smile on my face
With bright red lipstick
Why didn't you teach me
That love never last.
But I guess that was a lesson I learned when you cheated on dad.
Why didn't you teach me
that I'll be dead long before my heart stops beating.

Before you teach someone else
How to live theirs

First person singular prohibited. In order
to be more crow.
War! war! war! war! war!

Then there's that lowland wetland bird
around the stunted red pines crying
Birdy, birdy, birdy, birdy.

Hear the redwing blackbird chirring
Her, her, her... she
as one might expect, Spring.

Words for birds
since they're inaccessible. Aim
binoculars left, right, up, down, missing every time.

At the piano recital
Aaron made the penguins run, run, run, not waddle,
from a hungry polar bear!

Everything passes, even a massacre,
but birds outlast cars
and words like chemical and holocaust.

Woodpecker climbs oak,
Connecticut.
Not one neighbor heard the knocking.

The voice of a pewee
whose nest has fallen out of the tree.
Oh my! Oh me!

What did the wood thrush sing
that summer evening
teaching its young thrush meanings?

Yesterday is gone.
Your actions can’t be undone,
Why not learn and teach?
