I am the member of a one-man extremist army
That fights for the right to be (mis)understood.
I keep my gun tidy and all covered in a
crazy-*** knitted scarf.
I only shoot it when I’m alone in my head.
I always miss.

I fly below the human emotion radar and
Pray that someone will DVR my life
And binge watch it from the comfort of his/her dusty old couch,
Up in the attic, when nothing else is on TV and
Jimmy Fallon’s all tucked in his zebra pajamas.

I will climb the highest fountain
And whisper waterly in your transplanted ear:
“I am Vincent.. I am your yellow.. I am your ubiquitous sunflower..”

Just change the channel and the weather will do the same thing.
Bye bye bye, birdie! Bye bye bye, climate change!
I’m nothing but an echo’s echo.

Even if you keep on dragging me back, pulling me down, I'll only keep on shooting up like an arrow towards the target.

Believe in yourself no matter how much life is trying to pull you down.

drunk with power.
he shot his gun, hit the
pavement, and began to run.
shouting lies. another unarmed man dies.
now his family grieves and cries,
look at all of the damage you have done.

he knew his rights, he didn't want to fight,
or follow your commands, he didn't deserve to die.
so tell me why,  his  blood is  on your hands..

he didn't even get to say goodbye,
he didn't know that that would be his last car ride.
he will never see another day.
all because you couldn't just let him drive away.
this poem is about samuel dubose, an unarmed man who was shot by a campus security guard, ray tensing. when ray tensing pulled Samuel dubose over for something petty to meet his quota he asked Samuel dubose to get out of the car. Samuel refused to get out of the car because he knew his rights. ray tensing held him there sitting in the car for a very long period of time and refused to let him leave until he got out of the car. samuel dubose pleading for him to just give him a ticket and to let him be on his way. Samuel dubose then began to drive away and Ray Tensing grabbed a hold of the car door, when Samuel Dubose didn't stop driving Ray tensing shot him, saying that Samuel had been dragging him and he had been afraid for his life. on the body cam that Ray tensing had been wearing you can clearly see that Samuel had his hands up before Ray tensing shot him. no incriminating evidence had been found in the vehicle.

Pull the trigger, take a hit,
poison drips from fingertips,
each pill shimmers upon the floor,
a deadly grip if taken more.

Casing lined in gold or silver,
with each hit, it takes a sliver;
a busted brain, a mangled heart,
they knew the risks from the start.

A curtailed cry, cut short goodbye,
two bullets settle in throat and thigh;
eyes rolled back in a glassy stare,
lips pulled apart, a forbidden pair.

Pull the trigger, take a hit,
blood runs red from fingertips,
men resting silent upon the floor,
the chamber clicks to silence more.

I'm afraid to jump the gun
And express the welling tide of feeling
Because how can I?

You would drown.

Or run away from the flood of my arms
And curse yourself for approaching the shore.

So I mark off the edge, and warn against those who would swim.

But I want you. And I'm sick of this island.

Though it is safe and though I can do no harm here, I can't be satisfied with the messages you send; delivery by bottle.

Drunk on the words they contain, I need more from the source.

So I'll jump the gun, and suffer a shot to the foot of course.

She nods and sighs
amongst the conifers.

Evergreen sap coats the
rug of needles beneath, and
the wind covers her skin
with rippling gooseflesh.

A little black balloon lies
beside a bindle of rigs.

The moon robs and blinds
her of sight, shining so
very brightly into her dilated
pupils and hidden irises.

A single rusted spoon glows and
A stolen church candle smoulders.

Her golden locks encircle
the crown of her cranium
in a halo worthy of stained-
glass windows.

Rubber tubing is tied off
above her collapsing veins.

The fallen leaves under her
protruding shoulder blades
stretch out for miles in a
pair of clipped wings.

With a final rattling cough
the light leaves her eyes,

and dissipates into
the punctured skies
as she quietly fades,
and dies.

**** me,
**** me with your
Empty promises
And double speeches.
**** me,
Shoot me with the bullet
I once gave you as a vote.

I'm drowning
In the American Dream.
Everything here
Is not what it seems.

Is it your dream
To be shot on the street?
Is it your dream
To not be able to breathe?

This is what we are.
This is where we are.
This is some American Dream.

So stand with me,
Raise our hands.
"Don't shoot."
We say.
But what does that do?

As long as the guilty walk free,
And the innocent can't be,
We are stuck in this American Dream.

Please get me out.
Take me away.
This is a nightmare.
Hold your breath,
And raise up your hands,
And pray to God
That man won't shoot.
Is this all we can do?
